Chapter 1: Screams and promises.

"Noelle sweetie, come help me with this." her dad called, holding something down on a platform.

"I'm coming," 7-year-old Nooshy said, walking over to her dad.

"I need you to hold this really tight and don't let go, ok Noelle? Hold it real tight" her dad told her.

"I'll hold it as tight as I can" Nooshy promised.

"I'll help" her mother offered.

"I think Noelle's got this one." her dad assured her.

"Okay honey," her mother relented. "Hold it really tight Nooshy."

"Yes mum." Nooshy always loved that nickname, but it always made her stop and think about where it came from. This time, she was thinking for just a little too long.

"Noelle grab it, quickly," her mom called as it slipped out of her hand, but by the time Nooshy turned around it was already above her head and her parents started falling. Her father tried to grab the ledge, but he missed by a couple inches. Just in time, a hand came down, and Nooshy was clutching his hand.

"Dad! My arm is slipping!" She cried.

"Nooshy! Just hold on." He yelled. Suddenly, there was an awful crack and the wood that was holding them collapsed.

"DDAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD" Nooshy cried out as she watched her dad fall hundreds of feet and land with a hell-raising thud on the stage below only just hanging on.

Nooshy shot up, cold sweat streaming down her back. She kept screaming, she couldn't help it.

"Nooshy?" Johnny burst into the room, looking around wildly. "What happened?"

Nooshy was still shaking, covers falling off her shoulders. Moonlight filtered through the thin curtains at the window, reflecting off Johnny's dark fur. "Nothing" Nooshy told him.

"Really?" Johnny asked dryly. "Sure, didn't seem like nothing with all that screaming."

"Glad your dad wasn't home to hear that, eh?" Nooshy joked, deflecting the question.

"Yeah," Johnny chuckled. Though he was laughing Nooshy could almost sense a sadness in him, he just hadn't been the same since his dad left on his trip. "Now really Noosh, it's 2:30 in the morning, what is going on?"

"2:30? Oh, I'm not going to get any sleep tonight." Nooshy wailed.

Johnny shrugged. "You've still got a couple more hours."

"Yeah, but it always takes me so long to fall asleep and I don't want to be late to the theater tomorrow." Nooshy grumbled.

"Oh." Johnny winced. "Well, I hope you're able to fall asleep."

"Me too" Nooshy sighed, laying back onto her bed. Johnny turned away towards the door. "If I look like I'm dead in my bed, see if I'm breathing. If there's air, I'm fine." She told him.

Johnny snorted. "Will do." He put his hand on the doorknob. "If you need anyone to talk to, I'm always here. Ya know?"

"Thanks Johnny," Nooshy responded, hugging her pillow.

The next day

Nooshy walked into the theater, dark circles heavy under her eyes, jaw creaking with a yawn.

"Hey Noosh! Everything alright?" Ash asked, setting down her guitar case.

"Yeah, yeah, just a bit tired" Nooshy tried to put on a smile.

"Yeah, you don't look like you slept much at all." Ash nudged her as a greeting. "Hey, Porsha!" She rushed off to greet the wolf, leaving Nooshy to lean tiredly against the wall.

After everyone else had arrived, the moon came down the stairs.

"Morning everyone" moon said once he reached the bottom of the stairs, he noticed that Nooshy looked tired, really tired "Nooshy, you alright" he asked.

"Yeah, just a little tired" Nooshy responded.

"Alright, well you can go home and get some sleep if you need" moon told her.

"Thanks Mr. Moon but I'm fine I'll sleep when I get home" Nooshy responded "Come on Johnny I still have some things to teach you."

"Alright Noosh I'm coming" said Johnny following her.

2 hours later

"It's hot today innit Johnny" Nooshy remarked Wiping the sweat from her brow.

"Thats for sure" Johnny replied wiping his forehead.

Nooshy had recently started teaching Johnny the more advanced things and she could admit that he was learning faster than she originally thought he would. After She showed johnny one of the toughest moves she knew as to show him what was to come, she started feeling very lightheaded and felt a sharp pain in her chest and then everything went dark.
