Chapter 2: The discovery

Johnny was just sitting in the hospital waiting room, waiting for news of his best friend when he looked up at the door and saw a nurse walking towards it. Johnny sat up hoping it was good news.

"Mr. Egerton, we have news on your friend, come with me." as Johnny followed the nurse, he couldn't help thinking what had happened because while he knew the basics because of what he was told when Nooshy was taken to the hospital he didn't know much else. "We unfortunately bring bad news."

"Let's start with the bad news" Johnny responded.

"Ok, we found a small device in her arm that looks like it was made for tracking, do you know anyone who would want to track her" the nurse asked.

"No one I can think of, did you remove the device, and what's the good news" Johnny asked.

"We did remove the device and it is being looked at for anything that could tell us who made it. And more bad news is we don't know if your friend will make it, we will do everything we can but there is a big risk." The nurse finally told Johnny.

"Thank you so much, can I see her, and do you know what made her faint" Johnny asked.

"You will be able to see her soon and we don't know what has caused her to faint but there's a possibility that the device in her arm that caused it, and it could have been killing her from the inside all this time since it was put inside her."

"Ok, when will I be able to see her." Johnny asked.

"You should be able to see her right now."

which room" Johnny responded

"Room 302"

"Thank you so much" Johnny said already outside the door.

Johnny walked into room 302 and saw Nooshy lying on the bed and as he saw her, pulse monitor on her finger and dressed in the hospital gown, he felt a pang of guilt as he blamed himself for this happening to her even though he knew there's nothing he could've done "Noosh please, I know it's my fault just please wake up" Johnny said, tears in his eyes, continuing to blame himself, caressing the fur on her head just hoping he would be able to see her again, the bounce in her step, her great personality despite what johnny assumed was a terrible upbringing

...

"Noelle, would you come in here please" her grandmother called to the other room.

"Ok" Nooshy called getting up from her bed.

"Noelle, you have to let go" Her grandmother said.

"What exactly am I letting go of?" Nooshy asked. Silently cursing herself for such a bad lie

"You know exactly what, you weren't old enough to do that yet, you can't keep blaming yourself" her grandmother told her.

"But I shouldn't've gotten distracted" Nooshy said, feeling her heart sink. "I should've just held the rope, if I had just held it my parents would still be alive."

"I miss them too but what's done is done, we can't change the past, all we can do is focus on the future" Her grandmother reminded her. "You have to let go of your past or it will destroy your future."

"I know, it's just really hard to leave my parents behind" Nooshy said, her eyes starting to water.

"It's late, you should get some sleep" her grandmother said. "We have to go shopping tomorrow."

"Ok, I'm pretty tired anyway." Nooshy agreed. Heading back to her room

"Think about what I said."

The next day

Nooshy woke up, got out of bed and headed downstairs to see her grandmother making breakfast "Morning grandma" Nooshy said walking into the kitchen.

"Morning Noelle" she responded, "Did you think about what I told you last night?"

"I did, and I noticed that even though you lost Granddad in the bombing you still seem really happy all the time" Nooshy replied, grabbing a pancake.

"That's the trick, you have to focus on the future not the past while still keeping those who have passed on in your heart" she explained.

"That's a good way of thinking."

7 hours later

Nooshy and her grandmother were walking through the parking lot after their trip when suddenly there was a gunshot across the lot as they were getting into their car. "Quickly, let's go" her grandmother told her as they drove off.

"Grandma I'm scared"

"don't be, everything will be ok."

Suddenly they heard a bang from behind them.

"What was that" Nooshy asked.

"Someone just blew out our tire" she said as they swerved of the road and ran into a pole "Nooshy duck" and just as she did, she saw a pole go right where her head would have been.

"Grandma" Nooshy asked looking over seeing her grandmother leaning over "are you ok" but she didn't move "grandma" Nooshy asked again "Grandma, can you hear me" Nooshy asked with tears in her eyes. "No, not again, I can't do this again" Nooshy said starting to cry. "don't leave me alone."
