Storybrooke
Present
Regina found her mind drifting to the Assassin that currently held her heart somewhere in the woods early the next morning as she fixed her an earrings in the mirror in the hallway of her home, secretly hoping she would see the red head that day. She knew that the Assassin would be closely guarding her heart, not straying too far from its location but that didn't stop her mind from wandering if she would see the woman exploring the town with Tom close beside her.
And with Emma finally embracing her powers they had a fighting chance against her half-sister.
The last few days she would find herself thinking about the amnesiac Assassin more often than not. It was like they were back in the Dark Palace during the early day's of their partnership. There was an attraction towards one another, but neither of them dared act on it until one night they were sat on the floor in front of the fireplace with a couple of empty bottles of wine around them, when Amelia's lips found her's, igniting the flame that had only simmered between them until that moment. Only for it to burn them both in the end.
Their time apart had allowed her mind to think of how they left their relationship a year ago. With the redhead discovering that she was the one that wrote to the Brotherhood about Romeo's actions.
She had hurt her, she knew that now. But the present Amelia had no idea how much. Se had a chance now to show her she wasn't the woman she had only heard about at that point of her past.
The former Queen was taken out her thoughts of the Assassin when her doorbell rang out. Not expecting anyone this early in the morning she opened her front door to be met but no one, she went to close it she saw a basket on the porch. Curiosity made her pull away the what cloth that covered it's contents to reveal a dozen or two green apples.
"A gift" Zelena's voice filtered from the dining room opposite the front door saluting her with a glass of wine "From sister to sister" she says as Regina rolls her eyes at the attempt of a threat, picking the basket up to close the front door firmly behind her to confront the Wicked Witch herself.
"What are you doing here?" she asked the Witch as she entered the room leaving the basket outside.
"I saw your tree and I thought you could use something better" Zelena answered her as she rounded the table making the former Queen put the chair back into its original place "Red apples are so sickly sweet, don't you think? People tend to like something... a little sharper".
"And green apples are just... bitter" Regina retorts calmly as Zelena picks up one of Regina's decorations "That's not yours".
"Story of my life" Zelena scoff putting the object down to continue her journey around the table.
"Why are you here?".
"Oh, sisterly concerns, sisterly advice, you know. I wanted to make sure you and your little assassin were all right after our little showdown" she says walking past her sister into the lavish living room with the former Queen following her.
"I'm fine" she answered for herself already knowing Amelia was also okay "Are you?".
"Getting there" Zelena sighed answers her younger sister as she examines the living room and takes a seat on the sofa "This is nice. So luxurious. You really don't appreciate what you have, do you?".
"Right. Because I got everything, and you have nothing. If you want your superpower to be envy, go right ahead".
""Envy" is just another word for "ambition" her sister retorts.
"Well, that's just not true".
"You see, I strive for things. I work. You—" Zelena scoffs a chuckle at her sister "—you cast a curse that was just a fancy form of running away. With every advantage, you still turn your back on every opportunity for happiness" the Witch continues standing up from the couch "You, Regina— you just don't take risks, you don't live your life! It's such a waste!" she continues admiring the mantelpiece above the fireplace "I can see why our mother was so disappointed in you".
"Disappointed in me? She gave you away" Regina leered at her half-sister.
"You have no idea what really happened. That's exactly what's going to hurt you".
Regina simple laughs darkly at her sister's words "You didn't come here to give me "sisterly advice". Why are you really here?".
"So perceptive. I'm here, Regina, because I wanted to make sure you weren't someplace else so I can take what I need" Zelena tells her only to get a look of confusion from the Queen "Or rather, the Dark One could. Do you feel it, sis? He's taking your heart" Zelena laughs wickedly at Regina as the latter realizes that she had fallen into Zelena's trap.
Regina quickly turns and picks up a silver dagger that Amelia had once given her throwing it towards the Wicked Witch only for the latter to disappear in a ploom of green smoke, the dagger falling onto the carpet failing to meet it's intended target.
Knowing what her sister was talking about the former Queen hurried to her front door, knowing she needed to get to Amelia as soon as she could otherwise there might not be a redhead to think about anymore.
It was another morning at the Merry Men's camp as the camp rose another day under the Wicked Witches thumb. But if you were looking into the camp, you wouldn't see a camp full of people in fear as the Merry Men and Amelia stood around relaxed as she glanced over her shoulder to see what she was hearing around her.
If it wasn't the chit chat of the camp making much of the noise it was the sound of the younger boys laughter that had always brought a smile to her face whenever it echoed through the tree's.
Glancing behind her from where she was talking to Robin and Friar Tuck she saw Roland happily playing with Tom as the older teen chased him around camp. Roland loved having Tom around, the teem happy to comply with the boys imagination whenever he wasn't keeping Henry company in town.
"That firewood isn't going to gather itself boys" she called after the pair, reminding them of their chore.
"Yes Auntie" Roland responds for the pair as they head into the woods with the teen playfully ruffling Roland's hat covered head before Tom started to race him further into the woods out of the adult's eyesight.
Her conversation with Robin and Friar Tuck contonued as the minutes went by as they carelessly laughed at the old times in the Enchanted Forest when the the bubbling laughter caught her throat as she felt the hairs on the back of her neck raise up on end as she sensed powerful dark magic enter the camp, her eye's flicked to the right to see her Uncle under the Wicked Witch's control appear on the edge of the camp.
"To arms!" the redhead suddenly exclaimed as Robin picked up the modern crossbow that he was holding up and aimed it at the older man, the master assassin in their midst flicking out her wrists to unsheathe her blades in warning to her uncle.
"Stop right there" Robin warns the Dark One aiming for the man's head "You know this arrow never misses its mark".
Gold looks to his niece knowing she was the keeper of Regina's heart "If I could stand down, I would" he tells her "Heed me Amelia. Give me the heart" he demanded out of the woman just as Roland and Tom emerge from the woods with the teen carrying the firewood they had found catching the Dark One's attention "And who's this?" he points to the pair.
"Roland! Tom! Go back!" Robin warns the pair desperate for them to run.
Dropping the firewood onto the ground Tom pulled the young boy behind him by his shoulder as he took up a fighting stance against the Dark One, two hidden blades emerging from his wrists.
"Tom no!" she yelled at the teenager, who froze at the woman's voice his eyes flickering between her and the Dark One that had come to their camp.
"You should listen to her young man" Gold tells Tom who hadn't stood down.
"Come here, little boy" Rumple encouraged Roland.
"Don't!" Amelia's voice gained his attention "Please" she pleads in desperation.
"I don't want to. I really don't" he tells her looking back at the boy "Come closer, little boy" Gold forces the child forward.
Tom steps forward to stop the dark sorcerer only for Gold to uses his free hand to sweep the teen off his feet into a tree behind him before landing hard onto the ground "Tom!" he heard Amelia yell out to him.
"Daddy! Auntie!" Roland called out to his father and guardian as his feet were forced to move forward.
"And stop" Gold command the boy he then using his magic to push the boy into the ground onto his knees.
"Daddy! Help!" Roland called out again.
"I didn't want to do this either" Robin says taking aim towards the Dark One again.
"Robin no!" but Amelia's protest went unheard as Robin shoots his arrow; only for Gold to catch it in mid-air.
"It never misses its target" Gold repeated the archer's earlier words before turning the arrow towards Roland "And I've just changed the target. If I drop my finger...".
"No!" The other Merry Men attempt to come forward, only for Mr. Gold to freeze them into place leaving Amelia and Robin free to try and stop him only to feel just as frozen in place as they others.
"Wait!" Amelia stopped the older man in anguish making him look back at her "Wait" she tells him sheathing her blades, and holding her hands up in surrender "Robin stand down" she shakily tells the thief who slowly puts the crossbow onto the ground and steps back from the weapon.
With shaken knee's she backs up to a tree and takes out a small pouch containing what the man was after from hiding in the protruding root. Her eye's glance over to Tom who had gotten back onto his feet as he watches her approach the man her hand making quick work opening up the pouch.
Letting the darkened heart drop out into her hand she let the man see that it was indeed the former Queen's heart before putting it back in it's pouch and placing it in his open palm.
"Thank you. And I am sorry. Truly" he tells his niece before dropping his finger, letting the bolt fly through the air narrowing missing the young boy's head instead heading straight to the teen's chest only to stop inches from his heart before dropping onto the forest floor as her Uncle disappeared in red smoke.
Her swore she felt her heart stop and restart as her green eye's met Tom's brown as Robin rushed to his son, leaving the redhead to stare at the teen. Forcing her feet forward she didn't stop until she held the teen tight in her arms letting out shaky breaths as she felt her heart thump easier seeing the near miss. She felt Tom's sob's racking his body gripping the back of her hoodie repeating the same thing over again into her shoulder.
"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry" he cried out as the guilt of his actions weighted heavy on his shoulder's for failing to listen to her warning's almost getting Roland hurt in the process.
"I'ts okay, it's okay, we're okay" she tells him in a mantra as she tried to comfort him. She pulls him back to see the tears that had left his familiar eyes' "I'm not mad okay, we're fine look" she says as Robin bring's Roland over to the distraught pair. the young boy practically jumping into the woman's, his small arms winding around her neck as she cradles both the shaken boys.
Rushing into the clearing where the Merry Men and Amelia had set up camp Regina was met with the image of the redhead holding Robin Hood's young son with one arm while she softly comforted the back of Tom's head seeing the tear streaks that had been left in the wake of the Dark One's early visit, wiping the stray tears from the fifteen year old's face in a manner she used to with Henry, before placing a motherly kiss on his and Roland's forehead before the assassin finally saw her.
The redhead tried to give her a reassuring smile to tell her everyone was alright, but she easily saw through the woman's composure. Whatever had happened had shaken her to the core.
"Go find your Daddy" she hears Amelia tell the young boy before depositing him onto the ground, as Roland went to do what she said she turned to Tom resting comforting hand on his shoulders putting a brave on before whispering as she placed her forehead against his, their eye's closed as they comforted the other before he teen walked away leaving the redhead to speak to the Queen alone.
"What happened?" the former Queen asked the red head in concern seeing the distressed assassin.
"I'm sorry" she gulped "It's gone" was all Amelia could say as her head fell in defeat. Regina couldn't believe how she could've let herself be fooled so easily by her sister forgetting about the sorcerer she now had full control of.
Forgetting about her own annoyance and frustrations she looks back to the red head "Was anyone hurt?" Amelia looks back glances in the direction of Roland, playing with Friar Tuck and Tom, then she turns back to respond.
"Luckily, no" she answered, before letting out a frustrated sigh "I'm so sorry. You trusted me, and I let you down".
"No, you didn't" she reassured the woman "Nothing's worth the loss of a child. But now we have a problem. I'm alive".
"Remind me how that's a problem?" Regina almost forgot the how much she had taught Amelia about magic while working with her. The knowledge aiding the assassin in her own quests against her former brothers.
"She has my heart" she reminds the redhead "Gold's taken it for her, and since she hasn't crushed it and killed me, that means she needs it for something far worse".
"Worse than murder?" she replied "What is she planning?".
"It doesn't matter. Because I'm going to stop her" Regina went to walk away only for Amelia hand on her forearm to stop her.
"As much as I'm for stopping the bitch with my blessing, I feel like I should tell you to be careful" a smile grew on the Queen's face at Amelia's word of warning.
"Only if you do the same" automatically replied.
"Always, Your Majesty" with that Regina left Amelia with the Merry Men behind her knowing that deep down the Amelia she knew was still there even if she was fourteen years late to the party.
Enchanted Forest
Many Years Ago
The Godspeed rocked gently back and forth under the star filled dark night as the twenty men crew of the merchant chip slumbered in it's hull. Inside it's Captain's Cabin sat the Captain's wife a twenty-something year old redhead softly stroking her fingers through her three year's old's brown curls as he slept soundly in his small cot as she gently sang to her sleeping son, something her own mother used to sing to her.
So fill to me the parting glass
And drink a health whate'er befalls
Then gently rise and softly call
Goodnight and joy to you all
Goodnight and joy to you all
She hummed the last notes of the song as the door to the cabin was opened accompanied with the sound of heavy boot clad feet before the door creaked closed, feeling the familiar presence of her love behind her, she lent back onto his firm chest as his arms wrapped around her from behind, cocooning her in warm, loving embrace she never wanted to be without.
"I still can't believe he's ours" John Smith softly told his wife, looking down to the figure of his sleeping son with nothing but love and adoration in his eye's.
"Me too. I never though I'd have this, especially after-" she cut herself off at the memory of the fairy that nearly stopping this moment from happening. This is what she wanted that night outside the tavern. A family, she made and chose.
A creased brow grew on the captain face as he waited for her to complete the sentence "The Brotherhood"
"Mmm" she hummed along "We should get some sleep as well" she said as she unwrapped herself from his arms, taking his hand into hers she starts to tug her husband towards their own bed "Tomorrow's a big day" she said with a wide smile that lit up the partly lit cabin.
"You say that everyday Amy" he tells her as he allowed himself to be dragged by his hand towards their own bed not too far away from their son's cot.
"Well, it is. Every new day is another opportunity for an adventure" she tells him as he took her head into his large palms resting his forehead against her's.
"When did you get so wise?".
"Around the same time, I snuck onto a ship" John saw the corner of her lips twitch up in amusement.
"Around the same time as you met a strong, handsome Captain if I'm right in saying" he continued moving her backwards until the back of her simple dress met the frame of their bed, his voice becoming huskier as they moved closer to the bed her breathing becoming more shallow at the anticipation of being close to him once more.
"Maybe" the redhead shrugged taking the larger built man by surprise as he took his face away from her's.
"Maybe? Huh?".
"You're not the first Captain I've met John Smith" she said with a teasing smile.
"Ahhh but I'm the first that you fell in love with Amelia Smith" he replied with mischief in his eyes.
"Prove it" she stated making the man act crashing his lips onto her's in a deep kiss that made her moan into it as she kissed him back snaking her arms around his shoulders her feet leaving the ground and he held her tight against him.
The two continued their passionate tryst until they heard movement across the move making them freeze and look towards the small cot in the corner to see their three-year old son shuffling onto his side, soft snore's coming from his nose as he continued to sleep despite his parents movements.
"What do we do?" John whispered down to his wife.
"Unless you want to spend the next two hours getting him back to sleep, we need to stop" she said to him with an apologetic look on her face "Sorry Cap".
"Another time?".
"Another time" she promised placing a soft kiss on the corner of his lips "Get some sleep".
The gentle rock of a ship had always made her easily drift into a peaceful slumber. The Jackdaw always did, the Godspeed likewise, only the difference was she often found herself sleeping on John's chest with his arms keeping her in place as they both caught up to some well earn't rest. But the sudden shake of the ship t made the couple bolt up in bed as it happened a second and third time in quick succession as the three-year old started to cry. The couple looked at each other in horror as they knew what was happening
"Cannon fire" John stated as he jumped out of their shared bed, pulling a white doublet over his naked chest as he headed for the door. They'd prepared for an attack, hell she'd even attacked other ships with Romeo, but this was a merchant ship. They carried very little artillery and whatever they did have did little to deter someone who really wanted to board them. They were sitting ducks ready for the picking. This had never happened before.
"Captain! We're being boarded" one of the crew-mates voice was heard through their door
"Stay here with Tom" he tells his wife pulling his sword from it's sheath that sat at the foot of the bed "Don't come out" at that he leaves her to pick up their sobbing three-year old as she could hear the fighting that went on outside.
She had no idea how long she had stood there watching the cabin door as the sound swords clanging reached her ears. Every so often she would hear someone cry out in pain making her wince each time as Tom continued to cry into her shoulder each time she clutched his head tighter to her hoping he wasn't hearing anything that was going on out there. It was taking too long, she thought to herself as her eye's drifted to the trunk that held her long forgotten past in.
Whoever was out there weren't just simple pirates looking to make some quick coin, something was wrong and she needed to find out what, now. Pushing her feet forwards she knelt down to the trunk that lived in the corner of the cabin, opening it's heavy lid to reveal what had been put there three-years ago, never to be opened again.
Inside her lilac set of Brotherhood robes lied out in front of her with it's sleeve's neatly folded in as she found the pair of brown leather gauntlets that had given to her once she was ready enough to wield them. Grabbing them she took them out as he heard her son whimper in her arms once again the fighting only getting louder from outside the door.
She knew what she had to do for her family to survive the night. The toddler lets out whimpers of protest as she gently places him in the trunk her old robes softly cradling his small form
"Mommy's going to find Daddy, stay here until I come back and be quiet as a mouse, okay?" she watched as he gave her a a sniffled nod "I'll find you again, I promise" she says before leaving a loving kiss on the crown of his head before pulling away "I love you" she says before making herself get off the floor pulling her gauntlets to her forearms ignoring her son's voice calling out for her to face whatever was on the other side of the door.
It didn't take her long to get through the belly of the ship as she took down man after man that fought against the Godspeed's crew. It had been years since her hidden blades had been covered in blood, the feeling of the blade pushing into the flesh of one of the men that dared to attack their peaceful ship made her thirsty for more. But as the last man fell on to the wooden floor, his blood pooling underneath him.
Without thinking of her next move she quickly climbed the ladder up through the hatch to the main deck on to freeze in place when she see's John and the remaining members of the crew on their knee's bloodied and bruised with men holding up swords and daggers against their necks. Either side of the Godspeed two ships sat either side, trapping them with no way of escape.
But it wasn't the image of the surrender that made her spine shiver. It was the figure dressed all in back she hadn't seen in years with slicked black hair with his hands clasped together behind his back, his white pointed nails visible in the darkness of the night.
"Nice of you to join us Amelia" the voice she had hoped she would never hear again greeted her as he turned around to set his eye's on her for the first time in four years "Seize her" he ordered as she felt two strong hands take a hold of her arms as a hook is poised dangerously close to her exposed neck as she tried to pull away.
"I wouldn't try that luv" a smooth voice warms her as she looks to her left to see a man in dressed in a long leather coat that nearly touches the decking with a devilish smile underneath the thick stubble that covered his jaw. She could smell the rum that wafted from his lips. Pirate "It would be a shame if I accidentally scarred that pretty face yours" he warned her as he gently dragged the cold hook across her cheek.
"Retrain yourself Captain" Angelo tells the pirate in a low warning making the latter move the hook away from her face, opting instead of resting it on her shoulder in a silent warning that he could easily end her life with one push of his hook. She was powerless as her eye's sought out John's.
The year's hadn't been kind for Monteriggioni's caretaker, he looked thin under his dark clothing. flecks of grey had started to emerge in-the once pitch black hair. His eye's looked haunted as he looked straight into her eyes. He had always' been known as a Brotherhood fanatic between the Assassin's, believing in prophesies and old tales of a world were she would be the one to finally snuff the darkness out of the world.
The Chosen One as he would put it.
"Do you know how long I've been looking for you Amelia?" the fanatic caretaker started as he paces in front of the redhead that had escaped the Brotherhood "Four long years we've searched every forest, desert and back alley for the girl that had so much promise. Claudius was starting to give up our search but then one day I saw you getting off this very boat with your dear Captain" he says moving out the way so that she could see him looking straight back at her "I could've taken you there and then, but I decided to wait. You see, I wanted to see what announced to the whole street to that fairy" her eye's widened as one of the men carrying a small by in his arms interrupted the caretaker.
"My lord!" a voice bellowed from behind her accompanied with a sound she had dreaded too hear.
"MAMA! PAPA!" their son cried echoed through the chilled air as they both craned their neck to see a man struggling to hold the three-year old that tried to push and kick himself out of the man's hold. The men's grip on her tightened as she tried to get to her son.
"TOM!" John yelled out in panic to his son as he was forced back onto his knee's by the man that held the sword to his neck. She felt the pirate's grip on her lessen he looked toward his employer for the evening.
"Let him go" the redhead demands out of the man in front of her trying to pull her arms out of the men either side of her, angry tears leaving her eye's "Let him go please, I'll go with you. Take me back to Claudius, just put him down"
"Now why would I do that?" Angelo tells her as he approaches the man holding her son, he grabs his face in his hand, his pointed nails digging uncomfortable in the side of his face as the three-years screams in fear as he take's in her son's look's. From the soft thick curls of brown hair to the brown eye's he had inherited from her own father.
"I see he takes after your father" he grits out of clenched teeth as he presses the nail of his index finger into the skin next to his eye, hard enough to draw blood from the toddler before slowly dragging it down a few inches before pulling it back out, leaving a shallow cut in the soft skin.
Her own screams of anguish mixed with the one's coming from her son, her fist clenching as she tried once again to pry her arms out of the men's hold, using every once of strength in that moment to get to Tom until her knee's met the hard deck the men allowed her arms to slip out of their grasp.
"I gave our Mentor the chance to spare you when we discovered your father's treason, mold you into what the prophesy had planned out for you as The Chosen One. You never need know about your true origins, only Claudius feared you would join the Templar's if you ever found out, ensuring the Brotherhood's destruction. But instead you insured our future instead" he says lightly grazing his finger nail on the toddler's chin. Tom tried his best to squirm from the man's touch only to fail, as his sobs continued to fill the air.
He was going to make him into the thing they were trying to make her into. A killer. She couldn't let that happen.
"Take him away" Angelo flippantly order's the man holding her son as he takes him to the ship that had been tied to the port side of the Godspeed as Tom tried to climb over the man's shoulder to reach out for his parents calling out to them once again as he disappeared onto one of the ships.
"You never said anything about a child mate" he spat at the caretaker, his brow's furrowing in discomfort as the woman begged for her son's life.
"A development I suggest you stay out of my dear Captain Hook" Angelo tells the one handed pirate "- of things a simple pirate will never understand"
"Aye, " he says taking his hook off her shoulder he stepped forward "I may be a pirate but I have some honor"
"As long as there is coin on your person, you are to...FOLLOW MY ORDERS!" Angelo yelled in the pirate's face literally shaking with anger before instantly calming back down to comb his hair back in place.
A tight smirk grew on the pirate's face, breathless laugh leaving his mouth as his reaches to his belt grabbing the fat pouch of coin that was attached to it holding it up at the caretaker with a smile before throwing it at Angelo's feet, the coins spilling from its opening to spill onto the deck.
"I'll find my own way to skin a crocodile" he sneers at the man before turning his back to the caretaker to head to the ship that had sat on the other side of the Godspeed "Back to the Roger men!" the pirate calls out to his men she assumed were the one's holding her husband and crew opposite her only for none of them to move a muscle as he looked around to see none of his own men were actually on board.
"Oh my dear Captain, you really think I'd let your men-" the caretaker never finished his sentence as a scuffle was heard behind the pair as John had managed a way out of the binding around his wrists to take the sword that had been pointed at his neck, quickly taking care of the man before heading straight to the caretaker only for a loud bang to ring out in the night.
"NOOOOOO!" Amelia screamed out as John stumbled dropping his sword in shock, his hands went straight to his stomach as blood started to bloom from the wound created by the bullet that had come from the gun that was held by Angelo.
Her love stumbled as he looked down to see the blood escaping he hole. His blue eye's met her's as felt the chill of the night seep into his skin for the first time as he tried to remember every little detail of his wife's face before his view was suddenly blocked off by Angelo's form
"Goodbye Captain" he says before gently pushing his shoulder enough for the man to stumble backwards until his foot met the edge of the ship, the next thing he knew he was falling backwards through the air until his back hit the water the sound of his wife calling out to him in horror the last thing he heard.
"John!" she screamed after her love seeing him disappear off the edge of the ship to his guaranteed death, if the bullet didn't kill him the water would.
In all his years alive, he'd never seen such disregard of life come from another living thing that wasn't the Dark One. Looking back at the woman he had apprehended she could see the grief she had felt in that moment. Not only had her boy been taken from her, but now her love by death itself.
He knew what that felt like. He started this 'mission' knowing he'd be one step closer to killing the Dark One, but not this way.
"Take her!" Angelo bellowed out the order as the men that had remained descended on the widow still on her knee's. The pirate had gone to pull his own sword out to defend her only for the grunts of pain of the other man that had held her have a blade plunged into his chest four times before his lifeless form to slump onto the deck.
Angelo only smiled as she turned around to face the man that had ruined her life in matter of minutes her eye's devoid of the emotion that she had felt in last few minutes. Warm blood dripped onto the deck as the redhead looked straight at the man who had dismantled the life she had built.
"There she is" Hook heard Angelo whisper in awe seeing the woman become the one that would snuff out the darkness once and for all. He had only seen glimpses of the assassin she could be, but lacked the push to let the darkness that always surrounded her heart to completely consume her. She took a step towards the caretaker only to freeze as she felt the wood underneath her foot crack, making her look don to see deep cracks that had started to appear making the planks of wood snap.
The ship was going down. Her eye's snapped up to meet Angelo's as he realized what was happening as well. They needed to get off.
"Return to the ship!" he ordered his men as he turned to sprint back to his ship as his men closely followed behind.
Amelia pushed herself forward to ran after man only for a pair of leather clad arms to catch her around her waist pulling her away from a part of the deck that had caved in under her foot, dragging her back towards his own ship.
"Let me go!" she yelled at the pirate, trying to pull herself out of his tight grasp as he started to see Angelo's ship starting to pull away from the Godspeed along with her son.
"The ship is gong down!" he yells into her ear "Let him go!"
"No! Not until I get my son!" she screamed back as he finally get a hold of the hysterical woman in his arms as he turns her around to look her in the eye's
"You won't be alive to get him back if you don't come with me now. Survive the day, then you'll live to find your vengeance" his words made her stop struggling.
He was right. As much as she wanted to get Tom back she had to get off the sinking ship if she had any chance of finding him again.
"Okay" she breathed out as she ship shook under it's own weight. She allowed the pirate that had accompanied Angelo onto her home and take her away from the nightmare that was that day.
She had no idea how long she stood on the beach as she watched as heard the last of the wood buckling under the weight of the ship from the damage that had been done from the initial attack, the wood cracked and creaked before finally surrendering to the sea.
The crow's nest on the main mast was the last thing to disappear into the water as the sun peaked in the horizon, silent tears fell down her cheeks as she bid farewell to the life she had found outside of the Brotherhood of Assassins.
She saw pieces of the wreckage floating on the surface of the calm water, oblivious to the carnage that transpired on it only an hour before. But something Hook had said made her think of her next move.
Revenge.
Everything bad that had ever happened to her was because of the Brotherhood of Assassins. Iago's form of corporal punishment from every little thing she did wrong, to Claudius's year of manipulation.
They weren't the peacekeepers that she had been told stories of. The hero's that protect people from magic.
They were the harbingers of death. A plague that had infected the Enchanted Forest that had deep-rooted themselves into the very heart of the land.
And they had taken every member of her family from her. First it was Romeo, and now they had taken her love and only child. They would've killed her too if she hadn't run. She'd been running ever since.
Her thoughts were interrupted when she heard the caw of a crow making her look to her right to see the bird itself perched on the trunk that she had tried to hide Tom in sat out of place washed up on the beach. After a couple more call from the bird it jumped into the sky to fly away, her feet thought for themselves as she found herself stood in front of the wooden piece of storage once again.
Pulling it open she let the lid fall back to reveal her lilac robes that still held her son's shape before picking the piece of garment up by it's collar holding it in her hands for the first time in years. She saw the object that cemented her decision into stone. In the corner sat the wooden jackdaw that John had carved out and given their son.
It was that moment she had decided she was done running away from the Brotherhood.
This time, they would be running from her as she hunted done each and every one of them. She didn't care how long it would take, all she cared about was being the one to end their life, to be the thing they most feared in the world, she knew the price of choosing this path, she had seen it many times, but it'll be worth the darkness that had already surrounded her heart to make them pay.
The robe fit back on like a glove as she strapped the various belts and holsters to her body to hold the numerous weapon's she would need to complete her mission, tucking the wooden bird into one of the pockets as she heard muffled footsteps in the wet sand behind her.
"He was heading out West" Hook announced his presence to her "If the wind holds out we can still make chase" the Captain said making his approach to the redhead. If he hadn't managed to stop the man on the ship, he was going to help her get her boy back from him.
"No" she simply states, as she starts slipping her brown leather gauntlets over the long sleeves of the robe, strapping them into place on her forearms.
"No?" Captain Hook repeated taken aback by the woman's reply.
"Did I stutter pirate?" she said to him as she turned to face him, his eye's trailing the lilac robe she now wore "No offence, but you don't know how he works. Angelo was right about one thing, you simply won't understand. You should be flattered, I'm only doing what you advised before we left the ship" she said with a tight lipped smile.
"And what exactly is that luv?" he asked lowly as he clenched his jaw.
"I'm going to kill them all" she said pulling the hood over her head and walking away from the pirate that had saved her from dying on the Godspeed. The pirate watched as the woman who had not only been screaming out for her son and husband now heading down a path he once took years ago, unaware he had just witnessed the birth of the Black Widow.
Storybrooke
Present
Powerless.
That's what she felt earlier that morning as the Dark One held the camp hostage wanting the heart she had been entrusted with. She had only ever felt that way before. And she never thought she would ever feel it again so soon as she stood frozen as her Uncle flung Tom against that tree. She promised herself she would fight back. Do...something. And yet she still did nothing still.
The memory was still fresh in her mind, but it became blurry when she remembered being on a small beach. After that..nothing. Nothing until she woke up in the forest she found herself now in, somehow fourteen years older than she was on that day with scars on her body she didn't remembered getting. Like the ones on her shoulder and thigh. Both looked like it came from a crossbow bolt, but she had never been hit by one let alone two.
Her life just became more confusing and frustrating the more she learn more about it.
Isolating herself from the rest of the camp later that night, the assassin absentmindedly poked the small fire that kept the chill of the night from seeping through her clothes. Her stomach still churned from the events that led up and after she gave her Uncle, Regina's heart.
Her only thoughts were towards the woman, of how much she must have disappointed her in that moment after putting so much trust in her. Regina had done everything to help her bring back her memories and she repaid her by letting the most important thing she had go.
She continued to stoke the fire as she glaceed down to the lion tattoo that sat on her wrist. She remembered getting it after a jibe Iago had sent her way one day, to remind her that she was stronger than whatever her Master's had thrown at her that day.
The damn tattoo. Somehow some ink had caused so much trouble for her over the years.
Now she knew it held more significance that it already did, she didn't want to look at it. Now it just reminded her of how much she had messed up as she let out a huff of frustration, pulling the sleeve of her jacket back over it.
The spinning thoughts in her head came to abrupt stop when she heard someone coming towards her. Ready to tell the person to go away, she was taken by surprise when she saw the woman that had currently occupied her mind since she was a young eighteen year old making her stand up from her seat.
"Regina" she stated as she felt her heart pound in her chest as she tried to see what was wrong as Regina silently stood in front of her.
"I'm sorry" she suddenly blurted out to the woman in front of her "I let you down, your heart was lost on my watch but I swear on my life, I will get it back"
The former Queen watched in awe as she saw the passion behind the assassins eyes as she promised to fight for her once again. She hardly knew her and yet she was willing to put her everything on the line. This was the Amelia she fell in love with. The one she still loved. She wasn't going to hold back anymore.
The redhead waited for a reply from the brunette in front of her until she felt herself being tugged forward by the lapels of her jacket until she felt the Queen's soft lips crash onto hers in a searing kiss that she had been waiting too damn long for. Making the assassin blink her eye's closed before finally melting into it.
The kiss ended as quickly as it happened as Regina pulled away to see the green eyed assassin met her's in a heated gaze as she panted for breath she had been starved of as the former Queen continued to look at her for painful seconds until she felt herself being tugged forward herself herself as the assassin captured the Queen's lips into a bruising kiss that she should have done in the upturned carriage all that time ago.
Amelia's hand cupped the former Queen's face as she deepened the kiss that would be repeated throughout the night and into the morning
AN:
Hello there!
Another chapter. Yay!
Had some issues to what to include with this chapter as there isn't much 'Present Day' material to use for my OC from the episode, so I thought I'd finally write out the all important flashback of the Godspeed sinking.
Hello to everyone who recently followed the story. Appreciate your support and I hope you've enjoyed the story thus far.
Quick question to answer from the last chapter:
Theylovemaddiee: The Zelena/Marian story-line, will remain how it is. John won't be replacing Marian.
