Chapter Three: Vision of the Future

Disclaimer: See Chapter One

Hey everyone, hope you enjoyed last chapter and it all made sense why I made a staunch pacifist take up arms.

This time, just a quick one to set up next chapter. Enjoy.

On Coruscant, Chancellor's office

Palpatine stood with his hands behind his back, facing the window. The sun was setting and a bit of shade had fallen over the top half of Palpatine's face. The Dark Side of the Force was roiling, things were happening that could be a problem for his plans. He had known for some time that his former first apprentice would be something he needed to deal with at some point, whether to bring him back under his sway or to eliminate him. He had monitored Maul's efforts due to contacts he had in the underworld. Also, Lord Tyranus told him of that new assassin of his that went rogue, someone that similar to Maul. Dooku also expressed some concern over him as he had sensed that a new power was rising, one that would not be in favor of either the Jedi or the Sith in the Clone Wars. With the takeover of Mandalore by Maul's forces, he has finally become a threat to Sidious' plans. Threats to Sidious' plans get removed from the equation.

"You summoned me, Chancellor?" Mas Amedda asked as he walked into Palpatine's office. Sidious had sent for the Vice Chancellor as he had decided that things had finally gotten out of hand.

"Prepare my ship," was all Palpatine said. Mas Amedda knew what that meant. There was something that Chancellor Palpatine needed to deal with as Darth Sidious. Amedda was one of the few that knew his dual identity.

Speaking of those that knew, Palpatine needed to send a message to his aide, Sly Moore, to hold all his calls and cancel his meetings.

With Amedda gone, Palpatine gathered his Sith cloak and both of his lightsabers. For what he was going to do, he would need both of them.

Palpatine took his private turbolift to his private hanger, where his shuttle was waiting. Normally, someone would fly for him, but not when Sith business needed to be done. Palpatine boarded his shuttle and took off for Mandalore, changing into his robes while in hyperspace.

Meanwhile, at the Jedi Temple

Grand Master Yoda, while walking the halls of the Temple with Master Windu, was struck with a Force Vision. A premonition of a dark shadow of what was to come. Despite the clouding nature of the Dark Side, this vision came crystal clear. Obi-Wan would need help. Yoda saw him, the Sith Master: Darth Sidious, on Mandalore alongside Darth Maul and his brother. Despite saying that there was nothing the Jedi and Republic could do, he was not about to let Sidious get away or kill Master Kenobi.

"Master Yoda, what is it?" Master Windu asked, concerned about the Grand Master. He had been walking alongside the aged Master and discussing the course of the war.

"Summon Young Skywalker to the Hanger, and prepare a shuttle. Go to Mandalore, we must. Need help, Master Kenobi will," Yoda ordered.

"Mandalore? Mandalore is a neutral system, the Republic and the Jedi can't help there unless they ask for it," Windu was confused as to why Yoda wanted them to go to Mandalore.

"Darth Sidious will be there," Yoda told him. Mace Windu had not been expecting that, but his mind changed immediately.

"That changes things. Alright, I will get a ship prepared to leave within the hour, anyone else we should bring with us?" Windu asked the diminutive Jedi Master.

"No, risk their lives, we should not. Also, too many of us and find out, the Chancellor will." Windu left the Grand Master to prepare to leave. Yoda continued his walk, needing to think.

Elsewhere in the Temple

Anakin was overseeing Ahsoka training with the Temple's lightsaber training droids, as well as the blaster deflection droids. Her use of Jar'kai reminded him of his training days where he was blindfolded and had twin blades in his hands as well. It also made him proud to see her utilize the adjustments he made to Form IV, Ataru, despite being a Djem So practitioner of Form V himself. She had been watching the holocron recording he made of these maneuvers so that they could be taught to future Jedi.

While he was watching her, he began to think of how close she was to being ready to face the Trials. In Anakin's opinion, war was enough of a trial to be worthy of being a Knight, considering the Council waved his trials at Obi-Wan's suggestion. Also, their mutual good friend, Barriss Offee, had earned her knighthood on the battlefield, having resisted the pull to the Dark Side, after injecting herself with Bota.

Ahsoka had to cross her blades in front of her to block a faux Force Lightning attack from one of the droids. "Since when can they do that?" Ahsoka asked her master.

"I see Master Paratus has upgraded a few of these droids," Anakin commented, looking over the training droids.

"You're telling me, he really did upgrade them." Ahsoka parried a saber strike from one of the droids before redirecting a blaster shot from another.

"I'll have to speak with him when he returns from the front. He will probably want us to help him repair some of these droids," Anakin commented.

As Ahsoka battled the training droids, Anakin was distracted when Master Plo Koon walked in. "Master Plo Koon, it is good to see you back from the front." Anakin bowed his head at the High Council Member.

"As it is to see you, Knight Skywalker. I come bearing a message. Master Yoda and Master Windu require your presence in the Hanger. Something to do with Master Kenobi," The Kel Dor Jedi Master said.

"I figured they would come looking for me about that. Alright, I will head there immediately. Can you finish watching Ahsoka's training session?" Anakin did not want Ahsoka to stop sparring right now, not when she was this close to being ready.

"I would be happy to, Knight Skywalker." Plo Koon and Ahsoka had a certain bond, as he was the one who found her and brought her to the Temple. He would have also liked to have taken her as his Padawan if the Council had allowed it. With Plo Koon supervising Ahsoka, Anakin took off for the Temple Hanger.

Arriving at the Temple hanger, Anakin was confused as to why Master Yoda and Master Windu summoned him there to discuss Obi-Wan. However, it soon became clear. "Master Yoda, Master Windu, you summoned me?"

"Gone to Mandalore, Master Kenobi has?" Yoda asked Anakin. Even though he already knew that Obi-Wan had left, he wanted Anakin to admit it.

"Yes, Master Yoda. He asked to borrow the Twilight and took off," Anakin shrugged, he did not know why Obi-Wan went alone.

"Master Yoda had a vision of Darth Sidious being on Mandalore. The three of us are going to go help Obi-Wan." Master Windu was more grim than usual.

"We can end this war now, or at least severely damage the Separatist cause," Anakin's eyes lit up.

"Yes, Young Skywalker," Yoda said. "Take him alive, we should. Kill, only if necessary." He tapped his gimer stick on the ground and the three of them entered the ship with Anakin behind the controls and they took off for Mandalore. What they did not know was that they were only an hour behind Darth Sidious. As they flew through hyperspace, Yoda sat in meditation gathering his strength for the coming duel. He knew that he would need Force Valor a lot this time, as well as the related abilities of Force Body and Enhance Attribute if he is going to be able to face Darth Sidious in combat. Mace sat at the controls alongside Anakin, studying him. Both of them had an inner darkness that worried Windu. While he knew that he could control his, Skywalker was still an unknown variable. He had begrudgingly come to respect the Knight, but did not fully trust him. This battle would decide whether or not he could trust Skywalker.

There you guys go, just a quick little chapter to show what the Jedi are doing. Another Legends character mention, Master Kazdan Paratus from The Force Unleashed. We'll see him later. As for the Lightning thing, it something the droids did in the Temple DLC, as far as I remember.

Next time, hehehehehe. You're in for a ride.

The Emperor is out. Peace.
