For The Love of Socks 2
Written for Lamia of the Dark's Return of the Daily Weird Prompt Thing
Prompt - Hermione/Dobby
When Hermione Granger created S.P.E.W. to help the house elves who were, in her opinion, suffering and being mistreated by the cruel witches and wizards who owned them, she never knew it would lead to this.
She didn't know that she would start to love him in way that a woman loves a man, walking with him down the beach outside Bill and Fleur's cottage, thinking how nice it would be if they had their own cottage someday.
She didn't know that she would feel captivated by his bright green eyes, the way they seemed to shmmer like deep green emeralds when he gazed up at her. She could get lost in those eyes. Especially when he held her close, cuddling with her as they spent the evening together listening to the wireless, the candles adding to the romantic setting as they flickered and winked in the dark.
He was hers. She knew that they would say it was wrong, for how could a woman love a house elf? But Hermione didn't care, because Dobby was special. He made her feel alive, he made her senses quiver, when he touched her, when he stroked her hair. She loved him, and she knew he felt the same way about her.
And so it was that they were to be married. All of Dobbys friends sent them socks, of course, as wedding presents. And when they were married, they exchanged socks instead of wedding rings. Hermione received a pair of beautiful blue socks, trimmed in white lace, while Dobby received a pair of bright green socks that matched his eyes.
And then...Snape woke up. It had all been a dream. One very bizarre, very realistic dream. The dream was so vivid, he swore he could smell the mountain of socks that Dobby's elven friends sent him as gifts.
Severus groaned and rolled over in bed, reaching for a bottle of firewhiskey on the nightstand. It had been a month since he caught Dobby and Winky in the hall one night, drunk on butterbeer and doing body shots off each other, and yet he was still having nightmares about house elves.
