After getting their wands and eating lunch, Julia, Renee, and Lily along with Deidra and a girl named Brandy were escorted to the dormitories. The dormitories were set apart from the school with the girls' off to the right, and the boys to the left. There were a total of five buildings for each gender with each shaped into a pentagon.

Jasmine, their prefect escort stopped at a box. She said, "Okay girls. This little box is where you get your room number for the year and your schedule for the term. Your schedule may change each term, so I suggest after Christmas break, you come here and get your new schedule. Your room will be shared with two others, and can be older students along with being from a different house. So who wants to go first?"

Lily replied, "I will."

Jasmine said smiling, "Just stick your wand in the hole and a parchment will come out at the bottom with your room number, and schedule."

Lily did as she was told and got her paper and read:

Lily knew she would be busy with her studies. Renee soon came over and they compared schedules. Renee was in building 3 and they had charms, herbology, and potions together. Julia was also in building four, but on the first floor. Julia and Lily also had the same morning classes together along with their study session. Brandy was in building one and Deidra was in building 2. Jasmine then walked them through on how to get into their building, along with their rooms. She also mentioned that each building has a commons area with a small kitchen where you could find snacks and drinks in between meals, along with an exercise room. Each building held weekly meetings with the hall teachers.

Lily and Julia waved bye to Renee before entering building four. The commons area was the first thing they entered. There were a few students already there.

"Ooh, firsties."

"Irene, be nice. Hello ladies. My name is Hayley Middleton and I'm one of the hall prefects. I'm a sixth year and in Pukwudgie. The girl that spoke is my younger sister, Irene who is a third year Thunderbird. So, a quick tour. This is the commons area, across the way is the kitchen where you can find snacks and drinks. There is an elevator on the right there that'll take you up to the rooms on floors 1-5, we are on what is considered the ground floor, there is no rooms here. On the left is an exercise room you can use. Enough of my babbling, go and unpack. Don't forget supper is served from five to seven and then we have our first hall meeting at seven-thirty."

Lily and Julia got on the elevator. Julia got off on the first floor and Lily went on up to the second. Lily quickly found her assigned room and took a deep breath before using her wand to unlock the door. No one else appeared to be in the room. She noticed four doors. Three had letters above them that were A-C. Lily presumed the fourth door was the bathroom.

Lily then went to the door with the "C" above it and saw that it too required your wand to enter. Lily opened her door, leaving it open. In her room, there was single twin bed, a dresser, wardrobe, desk, and a couple of bookcases. Lily put her schedule on the desk, and then began unpacking. Her uniforms and robes went into the wardrobe, made up her bed, and then began organizing her textbooks. After doing this, she sat down at her desk, and labeled each binder and notebook for each class.

As Lily was finishing this up, she heard the doors to the suite open and two more entered together, very talkative. Lily listened in before introducing herself.

"Wonder who we got as our new roommate to replace Savannah."

"Don't know, but I hope she is at least tidier than she was."

'Okay, apparently these guys do not like things messy. It's a good thing I don't either,' thought Lily.

"How about that sorting, though. Two people being wanted by all four houses."

"Anthony Thompson I kinda figured would happen. He is a well rounded individual. I know his family." It was then that they noticed the door was open to Lily's room. "Oh, it appears our new roommate is here. Hello there."

Lily stepped out of her room and said, "Hi. My name is Lily."

The older of the two said, "My name is Brenda Branton. I'm a seventh year Horned Serpent."

The other said, "And my name is Andrea Little, fourth year Wampus."

Lily said, "It's a pleasure to meet you. And to let you guys know, I'm a very tidy person."

Andrea blushed and Brenda said, "Good to know. I'm sure you overheard our conversation. Our previous roommate, Savannah Johnson who graduated at the end of last year, was not very tidy."

Andrea said, "So are you all unpacked, Lily?"

Lily said, "Pretty much. Was just finishing up labeling my notebooks and stuff. Was getting ready to put my schedule into my planner."

Brenda said, "Dedicated student here. You were the other person chosen by all four houses?"

Lily blushed and nodded.

Brenda said, "Nothing to blush about, Lily. Its an honor to be chosen for all four houses."

Andrea said, "I think I'd better get unpacked."

Lily smiled. She wanted to meet up with Julia and Renee again. They really clicked on the train. Lily turned to Brenda. She said, "I do have a question though. What if we become friends with someone that is not housed in our building?"

Brenda said, "You can invite them into the commons area only. You would need to buzz them in. I'll unpack and then I'll show you how to do it."

Lily thanked her. It was then she took in the rest of their suite. There was a couch with a television, along with a computer desk in the corner. Lily went to the bathroom and looked in. It was very spacious, with three shower stalls, and a bathtub. It had three separate vanities. The toilet was in its own little corner with a privacy door. Lily smiled. How was she going to describe all this to her parents?

Andrea said coming back into the room, "Its something isn't it?"

Lily replied nodding, "I don't know how I'm going to describe this to my parents."

Andrea said, "Your parents didn't attend Ilvermorny?"

Lily shook her head. I'm British. My parents went to Hogwarts."
Andrea said, "So your parents…"

"Are the Harry and Ginny Potter."

"Holy shit."

Brenda came out and said, "Watch your language, Andrea. Its not very lady like."

Andrea said, "Brenda, we're rooming with Lily Potter and I just found out that her parents are the famous Harry and Ginerva Potter."

Brenda's eyes went big.

Lily said, "But, please, just treat me as a normal person. Its one of the reasons why I came to Ilvermorny. I would never have lived down my parents reputation at Hogwarts."

Brenda said, "I don't blame you none there. I have to live with my father being heir to one of the most reknowned wandmakers in North America."

Lily said, "Branton wands."

Brenda said, "You've heard of them?"

Lily said, "I have one of their wands."

Brenda said, "What kind?"

Lily said after grabbing her wand from her room, "Elm with Horned Serpent scale."

Brenda whistled. She said, "I know that one! I remember my grandfather making it. He said it would be for someone special. Said that he was compelled to make it."

Lily sighed. She hoped that she wasn't that special.

Brenda said, "I think we can expect some great things from you. First all four houses choose you and then you get a wand that was special made by my grandfather. I can't wait to tell him, if you'll allow me."

Lily nodded. "I don't mind."

The girls finished their unpacking. Lily then went down to the commons area which was a little bit more crowded as people were introducing their new roommates. Lily searched the crowd for Julia and spotted her in a corner with two other students that appeared to be their age.

Lily said, "Hey Julia. How's it going?"

Julia said, "I do not like crowds."

One of the girls said, "Now come on Julia. How else are you going to make friends. Hello, Ms. Potter. My name is Monica Newcomb. I'm a second year Wampus. I'm one of Julia's roommates."

Lily smiled her hello. Lily sat down next to Julia and said, "Julia, I understand. Why don't we go and walk the grounds?"

"I can show you around, Ms. Potter." The other girl had spoken. "My name is Sarah Millings. I'm Julia's other roommate, third-year Horned Serpent."

Lily said, "Please call me Lily, girls. I'm not into the formal addresses."

Sarah nodded. Julia and Lily took her up on her offer to show them around the grounds. Out on the grounds, Lily and Julia noticed Renee with a group. Renee ran over to them.

She said, "Thank god! Can I hang with you guys?"

Lily looked to the group that she had been with and they had already moved on. She said, "I don't mind. This is Sarah Millings. She is a fellow Horned Serpent, but is in her third year. She's going to show us around. Sarah, this is Renee Murphy. I met her in Boston at the lodgings there."

Sarah smiled. Sarah took them out to the courtyard first that was enclosed between the five buildings. It held a small pool and sunbathing chairs, and then it also had a nice size grassy area, where you could just relax and read a good book, or instead of doing your homework indoors, on good days you could do it in the grass. She then showed them the sports area. There was tennis, basketball, soccer, baseball, quadpot, quidditch, and football (American). She explained that you couldn't join any sports until third year. After that, she showed them where the library and the gymnasium.

In the library, Lily, Renee and Julia picked up some maps of the school so that they knew where their classrooms were. Sarah then looked at her watch and saw that it was after 5. Renee's stomach growled as if on cue. Lily giggled. They hadn't eaten that much lunch since they knew it was already halfway through the afternoon.

Sarah said, "How about we head into the dining hall and get some supper. Sometimes its better to eat earlier, depending on the day of the week."

In the dining hall, Lily noticed there were about 50 tables that held about 8-10 students each. Sarah led them over to a table that already had 4 students sitting at it. Sarah said, "Guys, do you mind if we have a few first years join us?"

One of the guys sitting at the table said, "Not at all. Name is Victor Thompson, seventh year Horned Serpent. This is Michael, my brother who is also a horned serpent but fourth year. Then you have Elaine Vinton who is a fifth year Wampus, and Nancy Walters, third year Thunderbird."

Lily said, "Hi. My name is Lily Potter."

Renee commented, "Renee Murphy."

Julia finally spoke up, "Julia Donaldson."

Everyone smiled their welcome. They sat down to eat. Renee walked them through on how to get their food, which was picking up the menu and saying what they wanted. After Lily finished eating, she listened to everyone talk. She loved hearing about what it was like growing up in America and what life was like at Ilvermorny. It seemed that everyone at the table played Tennis. Victor was the only one at the school that has been able to go undefeated in his 3 years on the team, and he hoped to continue it on this year.

Lily said, "Where would the owlery be?"

Everyone looked at her. Sarah said, "Lily, your owl will be in your room with you."

Lily said, "But I don't have anywhere for her to sit."

Sarah said, "We'll talk to Mrs. Cutter tonight after the meeting. I'm sure she can transfigure something or get you something that'll work."

Lily smiled her thanks. After they were finished they all headed back to the dorms. It turned out that Nancy and Elaine were in the same building as Renee. Lily was glad that she had made some friends over there. Back in her room, Lily sighed. She began her letter home describing the train ride, the sorting and her unique sorting, then describing her wand, and finally making it to the dormitories. It turned out to be a lengthy letter. She hoped that Belle could handle it when she made it to Ilvermorny from England.

At 7:15, Lily, Brenda, and Andrea went down to the commons area for the house meeting. Brenda had told her that tonight was just to go over the rules of the school and curfew. Also to make sure everyone was happy with their room set up and voice any concerns that they had.

Promptly at 7:30, the person Lily presumed to be Mrs. Cutter arrived. She smiled at the group of 120 students before her. She said, "Welcome everyone to another year at Ilvermorny. The rules are thus…"

For the next half hour she discussed the rules and expectations of them as students. Bullying in any form was not tolerated, and if they noticed it, it was to be reported to a hall prefect, house prefect, hall mother (teacher), or another member of the staff. Curfew for first-years was 9pm with lights out at 10 pm except for when they had astronomy which for most everyone on Friday nights so it wouldn't interfere with the next day classes.

After the meeting was over, Lily went up to Mrs. Cutter. She said, "Mrs. Cutter, I need some help. I didn't realize that there wasn't a spot for all the owls and that most owls were going to stay in your room with you, so I need a spot for my owl in my room to sit and rest."

Mrs. Cutter smiled. She said, "Sarah did mention something earlier to me. Come dear, let's see what we can do."

Fifteen minutes later, There was a nice little owl post next to Lily's room window, with a pan underneath for droppings, and a stand for her food and water. Mrs. Cutter noticed Lily's bedspread and that it was Holyhead Harpies. She smiled. She said, "You've got good taste my dear."

Lily looked at the bedspread and smiled. She said, "if I ever played quidditch and went professional, that's the team I want to play for, just like my mum."

Mrs. Cutter said, "Your mother is Ginerva Potter?"

Lily nodded.

Mrs. Cutter said, "Nice ambition to have, Ms. Potter. I'll let you go. Tomorrow is a relax day. Use it to get to know how to get around the school and find your classes."

Lily smiled her thanks.
