The first nine weeks was coming to a close. Without Victoria there, things were a lot pleasanter for the group and the students that she had been bullying. Her expulsion had spread through the school like wildfire. It had been the first time in 40 years that someone had been expelled from Ilvermorny and it was news not only at Ilvermorny but across the United States. Apparently Victoria's father had to resign from his job at the ministry due to the backlash and her mother was no longer the welcome amongst the social elite of the American Wizarding society. Lily couldn't help but laugh at that ironic part.
The ministry in London had found that nobody magical had been injured or killed in the attack on Kings Cross, which was a relief to Lily. The Ministry of Magic was helping the non-magicals determine the cause. They were still trying to decide what had caused it, and Lily knew that there was a high possibility it could have been a magical attack. Lily also knew that her father wouldn't tell her if it was.
The last week was going to be test week. It was the only time they were tested for the nine weeks over what they learned other than their homework and practical work. Then at the end of the semester, they would be tested over the semester work. Lily and her band of friends, Deidra, Brandy, Renee, Julia, and Anthony were studying hard.
Test week was upon them. The schedules for test week were adjusted so that they could have a three day weekend at the end of the week. When Thursday evening finally came, all they had left was their Astronomy practical. Lily was thankful for her mother's knowledge that she had passed on before school started. She finished her practical quickly and returned to her room. Lily quickly fell asleep.
The next day, Andrea woke up her by knocking on her door. She said, "Lily, its almost 11 am. Time to get up."
Lily jumped. She looked at the clock on the wall and sure enough, it was almost 11 AM. She hadn't slept that late in a long time. She quickly dressed in her casual clothes and went out into their shared living room.
Brenda chuckled. She said, "Tired were you?"
Lily said, "I must have been. Had my Astronomy practical at 10 PM last night."
Brenda said, "Nice. Was that your last one?"
Lily nodded. She said, "Just have a little bit of homework to do, but I'll do that later. So, how long before we know our grades?"
Andrea said, "You might have them already, sometimes Astronomy grades take a little bit longer, but the teacher more than likely was grading your practical as you did it. Each teacher does things different."
Lily raced downstairs to her 'mailbox,' which was where all her internal school paperwork was sent to. Like if her friends wanted to send her a note from another dormitory that way they could, or if the teachers needed to send a note to their students it would be sent through that way also. The pukwudgies maintained this as part of their many duties. Lily used her wand to open her box, and there was one envelope with her name, building and room number on it. Lily sat down at one of the tables and opened the Envelope.

Lily was excited. Her grades were very nice. She also studied the teachers comments. They were all pleased with her work dedication and to keep up the good work. Her History teacher told her she just needed more work on her non-magical history, but other than that, she did well. She went upstairs.
Brenda eyed her and said, "Well?"
Lily smiled. She said, "Can you make a copy of this, Brenda?"
Brenda nodded and copied her grade report. Lily then Wrote a letter to her parents and send the letter and the copy of her grades to her parents with Belle who was happy with the work.
Brenda said, "I take it your happy?"
Lily said, "A's and B's, with one C in History."
Andrea said, "Nice work, Lily. I see why you chose Horned Serpent as your house."
Lily blushed. She said, "I honestly felt the pull towards all four houses, but felt like Horned Serpent was the one for me."
Andrea nodded. She said, "I was chosen by two houses. Wampus and Thunderbird. I felt that I could equally be good in both houses, but felt my heart belonged in Wampus."
Lily smiled. That evening, Lily and her friends met up in the library. They had swept the top 6 in their year group in grades for the quarter with Julia coming out on top, followed by Renee, Lily, Anthony, Deidra, and Brandy in that order.
Julia said, "I wish I could go home for Halloween. Not going trick or treating is going to be different."
Julia had explained what trick or treating was to her magical raised friends mostly Renee and Deidra. Brandy's father was a half-blood and he loved decorating their house every Halloween and their kids would dress up and help pass out candy that night. Lily and Anthony actually went trick or treating with their families. Anthony's mother was a non-magical and wanted him to keep his feet in both worlds.
After meeting with her friends, Lily started on her homework. If she got it done tonight, she wouldn't have to worry about it the rest of the weekend. When lights out hit, Lily was three-fourths of the way through her homework. All she had left was a translation for Spanish, and her History essay.
The next day, Lily woke up bright and early. Her friends and her were going to spend the day on the tennis courts. They had learned to play tennis in their physical education course and Lily found that she really liked it. Their teacher actually encouraged her to go out for the team when she hit third year as she had a natural talent for the sport. Lily had thanked her smiling. Her athletic abilities came natural due to her parents. After tennis, Renee wanted to try out the Quadpot pitch. Lily didn't like the idea of the sport so she opted out of that one, but she did grab a broom from the shed that the school had.
Lily flew in circles around the quadpot pitch. Anthony joined her.
He said, "I never did like Quadpot personally either. I'm more of a quidditch fan. Go Patriots."
Lily chuckled. She said, "I'm more of a Puddlemore United fan myself."
While the others played a couple of pick up games of quadpot, Anthony and Lily spent sometime in the stands talking about Quidditch and their favorite times. Others from the school had joined the pick up games making it more fun to watch.
After the pick up games of Quadpot, the six of them went to the school for lunch. They were laughing all the way. After lunch, they split off into groups. Renee and Julia was going to get started on their homework, Brandy and Deidra wanted to head to the basketball courts, and Anthony and Lily just wandered around the grounds.
Anthony said, "So, what's it like to have two famous people as parents?"
Lily said sighing, "Quite annoying, really. We can't go anywhere without people staring. Many want a picture with my father, and a lot of Quidditch fans want my mother's autograph. You would think that they stop after sometime, but it keeps going."
Anthony said, "Well, your father did defeat the darkest wizard of all time, and your mother didn't just slip from the limelight either. She is still featured in Quidditch magazine as a writer."
Lily nodded. She replied, "I never told them, but it was one of the reasons why I chose to attend Ilvermorny instead of Hogwarts. I would never live down their legacy at Hogwarts if I went there. I don't know how my brothers put up with it."
Anthony chuckled. He said, "Maybe that's why they are so good in Quidditch. They take out their frustrations from the legacy into the game. I have found that hitting a bludger is rather cathartic in a sense to release feelings that I have held back."
"I can see that. So, Anthony, you know so much about me, what about you? What's your home life like?"
Anthony sighed. He said, "My father is gone all the time. Only comes home from work for about a week once a month before he has to leave again. I know mom is rather frustrated."
"Don't blame her none. I would be too. Do you have any siblings?"
Anthony said, "I have two older. Not many know it, but my parents marriage is my father's second. Victor and Michael Thompson are my half-brothers."
Lily was shocked. She had seen a slight familial resemblance between the three, but she figured they were first cousins.
Anthony said, "We don't see each other much as they live completely in the magical world, and I live in the non-magical. Doesn't help that their mother don't like mine. My mother was the reason their mother filed for divorce. She didn't like my father hanging out with non-magicals."
Lily sighed. She said, "Well, I'm glad. If he hadn't left their mother, you wouldn't be here. You're a great friend to have."
Anthony blushed. He fancied Lily and had since the sorting. She was pretty, especially her emerald green eyes, and to top it off she was smart and apparently had a knack for sports.
Lily left Anthony and went to her room. She took out her mirror. "Hermione Weasley."
A minute later, her Aunt Hermione came on the mirror. She said, "Lily! What a pleasant surprise. Thought you might be Hugo or Rose calling. How is Ilvermorny treating you?"
Lily said, "Its going good. Love the school and classes. I've sent a copy of my first grade report to mum and dad. I'm sure they will be pleased with it."
Hermione replied, "I don't doubt it. So, what is up with this call? Obviously you mirrored me for a reason."
Lily grew nervous. She said, "Is it too early to start fancying a boy in first year?"
Hermione's eyes grew wide. She replied, "I can see why you called me instead of your parents. That would be a touchy subject. As long as your not doing anything that is inappropriate for a first year, I don't see why you can't fancy someone. I actually fancied your father for a bit in first and second year then I saw that I liked your Uncle Ron more."
Lily smiled. She said, "There's this boy. He's like me. Well rounded, cute, and smart."
Hermione said, "Get to know him. Just be his friend. If it leads to more, then that's fine. If not, then you can just be friends. Just remember, your mother fancied your father for quite awhile before they started going out. It actually took your father until late into fifth year and into sixth year to see past your mother as Ron's little sister and see her for the smart and athletic person that she is."
Lily chucked. She had heard this story many times. She said, "Thanks, Aunt Hermione."
Hermione said, "No problem sweetie. If you ever want to talk about it again, just let me know."
Lily said, "I will. Tell Grandma and Grandpa Weasley I said hello."
Hermione smiled and said, "I will."
Hermione and Ron went over to the Burrow almost every night for supper. Hermione couldn't really cook and Ron loved his mother's cooking. Lily couldn't really blame him. Grandma was an excellent cook. She even tried to teach Hernione, but wasn't very successful.
Lily was just finishing with her Spanish translation when her mirror chimed. She answered it and saw that it was her father. She said, "Hello, father."
Harry said, "How are you doing, Lily?"
They chatted for a few minutes about this and that. Lily told her father about what her teacher had said about a possible natural talent in tennis.
Harry said, "I honestly wouldn't be surprised. The Potter family has always had athletic ability. Yours is just manifesting itself in a non-magical sport." He sighed, "I saw your grades. We are very pleased, Lily. Do try and bring up your History grade if you can, but if not, don't worry about it."
Lily smiled her thanks. She said, "How are James and Albus doing?"
Harry said, "From what I gathered in their letters that come every week, everything is normal. They went up against each other the other day in Quidditch. Gryffindor won of course." Lily laughed. "On a more serious note, Mr. Murphy told me about the Thanksgiving holiday in November where the school is closed for five days. Of course there would be really no point in you coming home for that period. He was wondering, if it would be alright if you came to Texas with Emily, Henry, and Renee and stay with them for the holiday?"
Lily's face lite up. She said, "If your okay with it, father, I would love to. Renee and I have become like sisters almost. I still can't believe we're cousins."
Harry said, "I myself am still trying to wrap my head around it also. I'll arrange things for you to go with them on the Thanksgiving holiday. I love you, Lily."
Lily said, "I love you too, father."
They signed off.
