The next day, Lily and her friends held a snowball fight. As they finished, she noticed James walking around. Emily nodded at her. Lily walked over to James.

Lily said, "Hey James! How'd the testing go?"

James said, "Surprisingly well. I'll know the results either tonight or tomorrow. Mr. Brendan, the guy over my dorm, will be going over the results with me."

Lily said, "So are you excited?"

James said, "I'm already missing my friends from Hogwarts. I don't know what overcame me when it came to Al. When he was given the map, I was jealous, yes, as I thought it was going to be mine, but father has already told me I'll be getting the cloak when the time comes."

Lily nodded. The jealousy issues never really amounted to much. Albus was their father's favorite even though he never really showed it. He treated all his children equally but favored Albus with his attention more.

That night, Lily and her friends sat together in Renee's room. They had been given the same schedule. They laughed and hung out telling each other about their Christmas holidays.

Everything settled into a routine for them. Thomas' gift was a beautiful locket that she could put pictures into. Now, it held a picture of her owl, Belle in it. Lily smiled and said, "Thank you, Thomas. Its beautiful."

Thomas smiled. He kissed her on her cheek.

Lily was smiling to herself. Thomas was so respectful of her. She had never thought she would have a boyfriend already in first year. Of course, they've never made it official as boyfriend and girlfriend, but she was wondering.

In the library, Lily was looking at some Charms books to help with her latest homework assignment, when a girl she didn't know said, "You Brits think you are so special. Stay away from Thomas."

Lily turned. It was a third year, Wampus according to her patch on her uniform. Lily said, "Thomas approached me a little before Christmas and asked me to the ball. I accepted as a friend. He wants to avoid the attention that that he gets as heir to a fortune, and I can't say that I don't blame him. My own father had to put up with fame growing up that he didn't even earn. So, please do not mind me if I don't take your threats seriously."

Lily saw a book that she had used to do her other charms assigments and took it off the shelf. As she was walking past the girl, the girl stuck out her foot and tripped Lily. Lily fell flat on her face.

The girl said, "That's just a small warning. You tell Thomas that you are no longer interested in even a friendship."

"Lily! Are you okay?"

Lily nodded to her cousin, Emily who just happened to walk around the bookshelf then. Emily helped her up and said, "What happened?"

Lily said, "Tripped over my own feet."

The girl smiled.

Emily looked at the girl's smile and said, "I highly doubt that. June, you better remember who you are dealing with. This is Lily Potter, remember who her father is. Also, just so you know. She's my cousin."

June went pale. Emily helped Lily to their study room where numerous people were studying. Emily's friends, and Henry and his friends were there also. They sometimes helped the first years that had congregated there.

Emily sat Lily down and said, "Now, what was that about?"

Lily said, "It was nothing."

Thomas said, "What happened?"

Emily said, "I went to see where Lily was, and I found her face first on the floor near the Charms section with a book in her hand, and June Lewis near by."

Thomas groaned. Emily raised an eyebrow at him. Thomas said, "June has been trying to get me to take her to the Valentine dance since we returned. Not many were thrilled that I took a first year to the Christmas Ball. I told her I already had a date."

Lily said, "June tried to warn me off, but I told her she couldn't intimidate me."

Thomas put his arms around her and said, "I'm glad she can't."

Emily said, "I would never have guessed her to go this far though. To trip a first-year, that's a bit extreme."

The other third year girls were nodding their heads.

Lily said, "I'll handle it as it comes."

The Valetine Day Dance was upon them. The great hall was magicall expanded to hold the whole school for the dance. Renee and Anthony were together, Deidra had a date with Mark Watson, Julia had a date with Brandon Curl, and Brandy had a date with a second year, Vince Hopkins. Lily had a blast.

As Thomas was walking her back to her dorm via the tunnels, he said, "That dress looks good on you."

Lily said, "Thank you. Took my mom and I forever to find it after you sent me an owl and asked me to this dance."

Thomas smiled.

"Oh, Thomas! What do you think of my dress?"

Thomas groaned. Lily narrowed her eyes at June. She was wearing a revealing dress that hugged every curve. How her mother agreed to let her wear that, Lily did not understand, but then again, Lily noticed that the clothes including the dresses in the United States that the wizards wore were more form fitting than what was offered back in England.

Thomas said, "Its nice, June."

June said, "Come dance with me, Thomas! Its my favorite song."

Lily narrowed her eyes again. Thomas took Lily's hand and said, "June, I don't know where you are getting this idea that I should go out with you. If you don't leave or my date alone, I will have to file a report with Mrs. Allen or Ms. Raine. I don't think you would want either one of those. Not to mention, you don't want this to look bad on your parents."

June harrumphed and left the atrium. Lily wanted to cry. Thomas noticed, and said, "Lily, listen to me. No matter what June says, right now, I am all about you. Yes you are only a first-year, but you are prettier than her on the inside and outside. She may be pretty on the outside, but she bone-ugly on the inside. She's what most people call a gold-digger. I hate to say such a thing about her, but her parents told her from a young age that she would marry a rich man and would never have to work a day in her life. She seems to set her eyes on me."

Lily smiled at that.

Back in her room, Brenda was back already. She had gone with her boyfriend, but she looked like she was crying. Lily sat down, and pulled Brenda into her arms.

"Victor broke up with me."

Lily sighed, "On Valentine's Day of all days? That's just wrong."

Brenda nodded.

Lily said, "Let's get some popcorn, and we'll drown our sorrows in pop and popcorn."

Brenda laughed. They went down to the common area and got a couple of sodas and popped some popcorn. Brenda was hoping to get into the Police Department after her graduation as a forensic technician. She had applied to several universities. Andrea came in about an hour later to Lily and Brenda laughing at things that Victor had done that were so stupid.

Andrea said, "Hey, you guys having a party without me?"

Brenda said, "Lily was just cheering me up."

Andrea narrowed her eyes. She had seen the breakup herself in the great hall. It hadn't been pretty.

As Lily was getting ready for bed, her mirror vibrated. She looked at it and saw James. She said, "Hey there brother. How was your date?"
James said, "It was great. Jasmine is a wonderful woman."

Jasmine was Jasmine Young who had escorted Lily and her friends to their dorms at the beginning of the year. She was one of four prefects for building four. There was a prefect for each floor. Jasmine was the prefect for floor four. Lily's floor prefect was her roommate, Brenda Branton. Lily said, "Look at you all infatuated with her."

James said, "Don't you dare even start."

Lily said, "There wasn't anyone back at Hogwarts that had caught your eye?"

James said, "Nope. Everyone was interested in me due to being the next in line to father's title and our money. I wasn't looking for that. Jasmine is down to earth and doesn't care about the money."

Lily said, "I'm happy for you, James. Just don't rush things."

James said, "Like you and Mr. Branton? Like I didn't notice that. Merlin, Lily. He's a third year."

Lily said, "He's a gentleman, James. Mom knows. She helped me pick out the dress."

James said, "If he hurts you, I'm going to hurt him."

Lily said, "I wouldn't expect anything different. Anyways, at this time, we are just friends."

James said, "Uh uh. I don't think so. I think he's wanting something more."

Lily said, "James. Go get some sleep."
