After Victoria left, Lily got up and sat in her desk chair. She pulled out her planner and looked at it. She still had a few assignments to do, and she wanted to get them done before the shopping trip on the next day.
Renee said, "Lily…"
Lily said, "I don't want to hear it, Renee."
Julia said, "We thought you wanted to do your homework."
Lily turned and glared at her friends. She replied, "I was only doing my homework this morning because you hadn't mentioned anything at breakfast about doing anything other than staying at the house."
Renee widened her eyes at that and realized they had messed up big time. Renee said, "Lily, please listen. We didn't say anything to you about the barn because we didn't want you to just sit there while we worked. Julia knows how to tend horses from living on her parents' farm. We thought you would be bored."
Lily huffed.
Julia said, "Let's go Renee."
Julia and Renee left then. Lily sighed. She knew it was wrong to be mad at her friends, but she was so angry. Lily picked up her Charms book and flipped to the chapter that was assigned and started reading, writing notes down on for her assignment. After finishing reading, Lily pulled out her notebook for the class assignments, she had finished her charms assignment and was getting ready to finish her reading for her literature class when Trinity popped in and told her supper was ready.
Lily thanked the house elf and went to the dining room.
The next day after breakfast, Victoria, Emily, Renee, Lily and Julia stood beside the fireplace to floo to the AstroMall. Victoria said, "Okay. Today we are mostly shopping for Julia, however, if the rest of you want to get some Christmas shopping done, that's fine. Do all of you have your phones on you?"
Everyone but Julia made the affirmative. Julia said, "I have my phone, but no service."
Victoria nodded at Julia. Making a note in her phone on her to-do list to get Julia onto their phone plan.
As they stepped out into the arrival area of the AstroMall, Renee and Julia started walking towards the clothing shop. Lily followed behind, more at a leisurely pace. She needed a few new items of clothing herself and had brought her card with her. Her bust size had grown some more during the school year and she felt that her current bras weren't big enough. Lily had learned the support charm recently, but while at home, she couldn't use them.
From out of nowhere, someone grabbed her arm, and tried to pull her away. Lily struggled against the man's grip.
"What the hell are you doing! That's my cousin! Get away from her!"
The man immediately released her and fled. Lily was shaken. Victoria was immediately by her side and hugged her close. Renee and Julia were close by also.
The magical police soon came and took their statements. Lily hadn't gotten a look at her attacker and neither had Emily, who had alerted everyone to someone trying to take Lily. He had worn a mask.
The policeman nodded and thanked them. Lily smiled at her family.
They continued onto the clothing store and got the things that Julia and Lily needed. Renee then took Julia to the electronics store. Emily went to the music store. Lily thought about what she wanted to get her family for Christmas, but couldn't think of anything, so she just headed in the direction of the music store but decided to would join Renee and Julia in the electronics section. Maybe she could find something there for her family.
Julia was looking at the laptops. Lily went over and saw a laptop that screamed Iris. She picked one up, and then saw another that was screaming Albus. Lily pulled out her mirror and said, "Harry Potter."
Father came on the screen and said, "What's up sweetie?"
Lily said, "I'm looking at Christmas presents for the family, and I was wondering about buying Albus a magical laptop for Christmas. James and I have one due to the school, and I think it would greatly benefit Albus also."
Father said, "That's a good idea. Go right ahead sweetie. We just passed a law in the wizengamant where we can have those things imported."
Lily said, "That's great, father!"
Father said, "Of course. Oh, and by the way, we are going to be spending Christmas in the states."
Lily said, "Really?"
Father said, "Yep. Your mother can do with some time away, and I can get some time off as Head Auror."
Lily said, "I'm glad you can come!"
Lily rung off with her father. She then decided to pick up a laptop for her father and mother also. She bought one with a quidditch skin on it for her mother and another with red and gold colors for her father. Albus got one with Green and Silver with a snake on it. Iris had one that was covered in flowers.
Renee raised an eyebrow at how many she was buying. Lily said, "Christmas."
Renee nodded. Lily moved to the printers and bought three. One for Iris, one for her father's office, and another for the house. Now she just had to buy for the rest of the family, but figured her shopping was done for the day.
That night, Renee and Julia came to her room as she was wrapping the presents.
Renee said, "That was a lot of laptops."
Lily said, "I bought one for Albus, one for Iris, and one each for my parents. Then I bought printers."
Renee said, "I take it they can now have this stuff in England?"
Lily replied nodding, "Father had just gotten the law passed."
Julia said, "That's great."
Lily said, "I also learned something else. My family is coming to the states for Christmas."
Renee said, "As in just the Potters or the Potters and Weasleys?"
Lily giggled. She commented, "I honestly didn't ask."
Julia laughed. She said, "I honestly would think that your parents would just be coming with your other brother. Though, the way you talk about your father, I'm sure he wouldn't mind bringing the Weasleys on a family holiday."
Lily nodded. She said, "Up until my mother finished school and the war was over, my grandparents never had a holiday by themselves. Shortly after the rebuilding was done, the family got together and paid for a holiday in France for them."
Renee said, "Nice."
The next day, they returned to Ilvermorny. On the train, Lily had just stepped out to go to the bathroom and was on her way back, when she was approached by Oliver Stanton. It was then that she took time to take in his appearance. Renee was right, Oliver was a hunk.
Oliver said, "Ms. Potter, hope you had a good holiday?"
Lily said, "It was alright. Had a small incident while out shopping, but I've recovered."
Oliver smiled and said, "I hope it wasn't too traumatizing. There was something in the paper in Houston that mentioned an attempted kidnapping yesterday at the AstroMall."
Lily blushed. With her red hair and green eyes, her parents and the Murphy's had told her that she would be a target for predators. Lily had let her guard down yesterday and she was beating herself up for it.
Oliver said, "I was hoping to see you some more before Yule break."
Lily said, "I'm not sure if that will be possible, Oliver. I've got a lot of things to do until break."
Oliver said, "I understand. You know where to find me if you change your mind."
Lily shook her head and went to the compartment that she shared with her friends. Timothy had shown up while she was in the bathroom and was playing a game of checkers with Julia. Deidra and Brandy were reading, and finally, Renee and Anthony were talking about what had happened during their breaks.
Renee said, "You were gone longer than normal."
Lily said, "Bumped into someone."
Renee raised an eyebrow at that, but let it go knowing that if Lily wanted them to know about it, she would say so.
Once they arrived at Ilvermorny, they took the carts to the school, and then strolled the grounds. The weather wasn't too bad. There wasn't any snow on the ground and the weather wasn't too cold.
Timothy walked beside Lily while they let the rest go ahead. Timothy said, "I want to get a jump on everyone else, but Lily, will you go to the Valentine's dance with me?"
Lily was shocked. She had no idea what to say.
Timothy said, "If you need time to think about it, I understand."
Lily said finding her voice, "I'll think about it."
Lily didn't know what to think, honestly. It seemed that Oliver and Timothy both were interested in her, but was Lily ready for that sort of thing? She was only 12 for goodness sake.
At their dorms, Lily went up to her room, and finished unpacking her books. She still had her literature reading to do.
"Lily!"
Lily turned and their stood Audrey. Lily said, "Hey Audrey. How was your break?"
Audrey said, "It was good. It a bit depressing since it was the first holiday without Yolanda, but we made it through. I don't think my parents are looking forward to Christmas. It was Yolanda's favorite holiday besides her birthday."
Lily said, "One way to remember someone, is to continue to celebrate their favorite holiday. Its what they would have wanted."
Audrey nodded, and hugged Lily. Lily returned the hug, and froze as a vision came over her:
"Mommy!"
An older version of Audrey turned and smiled as she saw a little girl running towards her, followed by a man in a monster costume. Audrey bent down and said, "What did I tell you about scaring Yolanda, Adam?"
The man named Adam replied, "I was only trying to help…"
Lily broke out of her vision. She smiled down at Audrey. Lily was glad that Audrey would grow into a beautiful young woman. Lily didn't know who Adam was, but it looked like they would be happy together.
Audrey said, "Thanks, Lily! I must go and finish my homework. I tried to do it over the holiday, but my family was really busy!"
Lily giggled. No sooner had the door closed to Audrey's room, Andrea came out of her's.
Andrea said, "What was that excitement about?"
Lily said, "Audrey was glad to see me is all."
Andrea said, "What's up with that smile on your face?"
Lily looked to make sure that Audrey was in her room, and said, "I need to talk to someone first and do some research in some of the books I got from my great-grandmother in September."
Andrea nodded.
Lily went into her room and pulled out her grandfather's journal and read. It seemed he had written many of his visions down and would also note if he knew it would come true.
After supper, they had their dorm meeting. Mrs. Cutter had nothing new to announce. She welcomed everyone back, and hoped they continued to have a good year. As the meeting broke up, Lily approached Mrs. Cutter and said, "Ma'am, I need to talk to you."
Mrs. Cutter said, "Of course, Ms. Potter. Come into my office."
Lily followed Mrs. Cutter into her office that she had in the dorms. She was found here on the weekends to be closer to her dorm students. During the week, Mrs. Cutter was to be found in her office in the school.
After closing the door, and sitting down, Mrs. Cutter said, "What can I do for you, Ms. Potter."
Lily explained what happened over the holidays at AstroMall, and then what happened when Audrey and her hugged.
Mrs. Cutter said, "First off, Ms. Potter, I'm sorry to hear that you were almost abducted and that your family was able to prevent it. I hope you are okay?" Lily nodded her head. "Next, did you know that you were a seer?"
Lily said, "My great-grandfather was a seer in Britain, and apparently told my grandmother of a possible great-grandchild being one. I have books that were given to me about the subject. I was looking to get an extra notebook that I can make into a journal to help catalog any visions I might have."
Mrs. Cutter said, "I take it you do not have an extra notebook handy for this?"
Lily shook her head, continuing, "I've used all my notebooks that I have bought for this semester. I plan on buying some more over the holidays, but I think this recent development is more important."
Mrs. Cutter turned to a filing cabinet, tapped it with her want, and opened one of the drawers. She said, "We keep a storage room in the school for such instances where students find that they run out of paper or things that they need for school. Especially the first and second years. Once third year hits, you won't need to worry about it, as you get to visit the village every other month."
Lily nodded. She had heard about the visits and was looking forward to them in her third year. Lily continued, "Also, do you know when tryouts for the sports are for the next year?"
Mrs. Cutter said, "Tryouts will be posted in the common areas when they are decided. You are thinking about trying out for a sport or two?"
Lily said, "I'm interested in joining the tennis team, ma'am. I even have my own set."
Mrs. Cutter nodded. She said, "We will be meeting in March to discuss classes for third year. Have you thought about that?"
Lily said, "I have a bit and asked a few people what I should take for the career path I'm thinking, but I still need to think on it."
Mrs. Cutter replied, "What you can do is take several classes that will fit into different careers, so if you change your mind, you can always switch the path you choose, without having to catch up in classes. Just to give you some forethought."
Lily thanked Mrs. Cutter and went up to her room. In her room, Lily read her literature homework, and made notes on things she thought was important. The teacher hardly gave any homework on the readings that they had but did quiz them verbally over what they had read to make sure that they had read it.
Things settled into a routine for the friends. Lily, Renee, and Julia quickly got over the spat that they had over the holiday and were back to being the bestest of friends. Timothy and Anthony grew closer, and Brandy and Deidra were good friends.
December passed in a rush. Before they knew it, it was time for their semester exams. Lily and her friends weren't nervous as they knew they would do good. Lily still hadn't given Timothy an answer about the Valentine's dance. She wasn't sure if she wanted to go with anyone. Lily decided she would talk to her parents over the break and decide then.
The Christmas dance for the upper years was on the evening of the last day of exams. The next day, the students were to head to the station for their holiday break. Lily and Audrey sat on the sofa in their shared commons area in their suite and watch Andrea get ready. She was stunning in her dress of lilac. Andrea was going with Brandon.
The next morning, Lily and her friends boarded the train and got a compartment to themselves. Timothy had been slightly cold towards Lily in the last couple of days but hadn't said anything to her about it. Lily wondered if it was because she had yet to give him an answer.
Three hours later, they arrived at the train station. Lily grabbed Timothy's arm, and said, "Timothy, did I do something to make you ignore me?"
Timothy said, "I never thought it would take you this long to think about what I asked you."
Lily said, "Timothy, I just don't know yet, okay? Hopefully by the time school resumes, I will."
Timothy pulled his arm free and left without a word. Renee and Julia raised an eyebrow at her. Lily shook her head meaning not here. As they got off the train, they heard two little voices, "Julia!"
The three of them turned and saw two people they were not expecting.
