Chapter 252: Gathering Allies Part 2
Dante breathed heavily as he landed after another long flight. After spending all night with Flare, Dante had to travel all the way back to the capital using his wings. Stretching his tired body after spending the better part of the day flying at top speed, Dante looked around. He was standing a short distance away from the entrance to the capital city but his final destination was not the capital.
"This should be a good enough location" stated Dante to himself as he glanced around the area he was standing in. After making sure the area of clear, Dante reached into his bag and pulled out a small medallion. While looking at the medallion, Dante continued to speak.
"I really hope this works like his notes said it would" stated Dante as he started to channel his magical energy into the medallion. The medallion soon started to radiate light as it absorbed the magical energy Dante poured into it. Suddenly a beam of light shot from the medallion, piercing the sky above Dante. After a short moment looking at the sky above him, Dante saw a hole open up in the sky. Smiling at the success, Dante continued to speak.
"Damn that actually worked" stated Dante with a smile as he transformed back into his Angel Soul Gabriel form. Spreading his wings wide, Dante took into the sky towards the hole in the sky. Flying through the hole in the sky, Dante was glad to notice that his magical power did not start to vanish. Soon Dante was overlooking a different capital city as he hovered in the skies of Edolas.
"I'm glad that I still have magical power here thanks to the pill I took back when I was last here" stated Dante to himself as he overlooked the capital city. Looking at the capital city Dante was glad to see that it was thriving, he was slightly worried that Edolas could be in disarray now that no more magical power existed. Intending to make haste, Dante flew towards the castle in the center of the capital city.
"Now all I need to do is find where Mystogan is" stated Dante as he landed in the courtyard of the castle. It didn't take long before Dante was surrounded by royal guards.
"Stop right there! In the name of his majesty Jellal, we demand that you surrender yourself" stated a royal guard as he pointed his spear towards Dante. Dante raised his hands in the air as a show that he meant them no harm as he reverted back into his normal form. Seeing the display of magic, the royal guards gasped with shock as Dante started to speak.
"Sorry to drop in like this but I was hoping to speak with your king" responded Dante with a smile, hoping that the guards wouldn't give him any trouble. It seemed like the guards weren't convinced that Dante wasn't a threat as they continued to aim their weapons at him.
"You can't just request an audience with the king! Explain yourself, how can you use magic" asked the royal guard as he kept a steady grip on his weapon. Smiling back at the guard Dante started to speak.
"I'm an old friend of king Jellal, I'm sure he would be happy to see me" responded Dante with a smile hoping that he wasn't about to be arrested. Just as the royal guard started to speak, a familiar voice cut him off.
"Stand down, this man is not our enemy" stated Erza Nightwalker as she stepped out of the crowd. The royal guard that had been speaking with Dante turned to look at Erza Nightwalker as he started to speak.
"Captain Nightwalker this man suddenly stormed the castle and can use magic. He is a threat to the king" the royal guard started to say before Erza Nightwalker started to speak.
"I understand that, but this is one of the king's friends that helped save the kingdom seven years ago. I order you to stand down solider" responded Erza Nightwalker in a commanding tone. The royal guard still looked like he didn't fully understand the reasons for Nightwalker's order, but he nodded his head as he stood down. Seeing that the situation was diffused, Erza Nightwalker walked up to Dante and started to speak to him.
"I'm surprised to see you here Dante, what are you doing here" asked Nightwalker in a curious tone. Smiling back at Nightwalker, Dante admired how kind the past seven years had been to her. Nightwalker still looked almost identical to Erza, just a bit older but still looked amazing to Dante.
"I wanted to speak with Mystogan, sorry Jellal. I know it's a shock to see me here, but could you please grant me an audience" asked Dante with a smile. Smiling back at Dante, Nightwalker started to speak in a low tone.
"I can grant you an audience with king Jellal but that isn't the only reason for your visit is it" asked Nightwalker in a low enough tone that only Dante could hear her. Smiling at Nightwalker it was obvious to Dante what she was thinking about.
"Of course not, I also had to see you again after so long. Once my business with the king is concluded I intended to spend the rest of the day with you, that is if you want to" responded Dante with a flirty smile. Smiling back at Dante, Nightwalker licked her lips with hunger as she started to speak.
"I would love that master; it's been way too long" responded Nightwalker in a flirty tone as she thought of all the wonderful things she could do with the man she had yearend for the past seven years. After saying these words, Nightwalker ordered the royal guards to escort them to the king. As Dante and Nightwalker walked through the large hallway towards the throne room, Nightwalker started to speak to Dante.
"You look like you haven't aged much master even though it's been seven years. Time passes the same in Earthland as it does in Edolas doesn't it" asked Nightwalker in a curious tone as she observed Dante still looked the same age he was since she saw him last. Smiling back at Nightwalker, Dante started to speak.
"Time does pass the same between our worlds. It's a long story and I'll tell you later but basically I found myself in a situation where I skipped over seven years without aging" responded Dante with a smile. Nightwalker was even more curious after Dante's answer but deiced to wait later for a more detailed explanation since they had just walked into the throne room. Dante smiled at the figure sitting on the throne as he started to speak.
"This is a welcome surprise" stated Mystogan with a smile as he stood up from his throne and walked over to Dante. Dante smiled back at his friend as he started to speak.
"It's been way too long man, how are you doing" asked Dante with a smile as he shook the kings hand. Dante could see from the corner of his eyes the shocked look from the royal guards with how informal he was being with their king.
"I'm doing just fine although I am curious why you have decided to visit us. I assume you found my old notes about the Anima to get here" asked Mystogan with a smile. Nodding his head, Dante started to speak.
"That's right, thanks to your notes I was able to make the trip here. As for the reason why, that is going to take a while to explain" responded Dante.
"I image somewhere in your story is the use of Fairy Sphere considering that you seem to haven't aged a day despite nearly seven years passing since I saw you last" responded Mystogan which made Dante slightly laugh to himself as he started to speak.
"Somehow I'm not shocked that you already know about Fairy Sphere. If anyone would have knowledge about it, it would be you. Yes Fairy Sphere was used, let me start from where we last left Edolas to fully catch you up" responded Dante as he started to recount his past adventures to his old guildmate. After serval hours of catching Mystogan up to current events, Dante waited for his response.
"That is quite the tale you have told me" stated Mystogan in a serious tone as he considered what Dante just told him. Nodding his head, Dante started to speak.
"I know it's a lot to take in" responded Dante. Mystogan took a moment before he started to speak.
"I take it then that the reason for your visit isn't just to catch up with old friends" responded Mystogan, his question more of a statement of fact. With a serious look on his face, Dante nodded his head and started to speak.
"Yah, I'm here as an official representative of the magic council to request aid from the kingdom of Edolas. I know you guys don't have any magical power, but an army is still an army" responded Dante in a serious tone. Mystogan took a moment to consider Dante's words before he started to speak.
"What you ask for is a lot" responded Mystogan in a serious tone.
"I'd understand if you have to refuse" responded Dante. Hearing these words, Mystogan gave Dante a determined look as he started to speak.
"I wouldn't dare think about refusing aid to a former guildmate and friend. I was merely stating the fact that a lot of preparation would have to be made for this to work" responded Mystogan thinking that between now and the time that Dante would need his help that he would have to devise of a way to transport an entire army to Earthland. Dante smiled at Mystogan as he started to speak.
"That's great to hear, your help means a lot" responded Dante in a grateful tone. Dante felt much better about the potential war with the Alvarez Empire now that they had the army of Edolas fighting with them.
"I will have to resume my research about the Anima immediately. When I find a way to transport the kingdom's army to Earthland, the method will have to be powered by your magic since we have none" responded Mystogan as he pondered other logistics of such an endeavor.
"I'll make sure to make plenty of return visits during that time. You should make me a list of magical items that you used while in Earthland so I can procure them from you" responded Dante with a smile thinking that their chances of success would be even better if Mystogan was at full strength. Nodding his head, Mystogan started to speak.
"That is a smart plan. I imagine that you can't supply the entire army with magical weapons, but it shouldn't be necessary. We have had seven years to learn how to function without magical but perhaps you could provide magical weapons for Nightwalker as well" responded Mystogan.
"I can talk with the Earthland Erza, she would have something I'm sure" responded Dante. Nodding his head in understating, Mystogan then started to go over other points of concern with Dante. After a couple of hours going over the initial plans, Mystogan stood up from his seat and started to speak.
"I think that is enough for one day. I'm sorry to keep you for so long" stated Mystogan as Dante stood up from his seat. The two of them had retired to a spacious living room in the castle while they discussed the plan to prepare Edolas to one day help against the Alvarez Empire. Smiling back at Mystogan, Dante started to speak.
"No need to apologize. It was nice seeing you again. Seven years might have passed and you might be an entire world apart but you are still a part of the Fairy Tail family" responded Dante with a smile. Smiling back at his former guildmate, Mystogan started to speak.
"Thanks Dante, hearing that means a lot" responded Mystogan with a smile. Shortly after saying these words, Mystogan had dinner brought to them and together they ate while sharing stories of their days in Fairy Tail. After the meal was finished, Dante stood up and started to speak.
"It's been great catching up with you Mystogan, but I can't stay long. I still have to fulfill my promise to catch up with Nightwalker before I leave for Earthland" responded Dante with a smile.
"Yes, I imagine Nightwalker is eagerly waiting for some time along with you. I will begin working on finding a way to transport my army to Earthland. Until I see you next friend" responded Mystogan as he extended his hand to shake Dante's. Smiling at Mystogan, Dante shook his hand as he started to speak.
"Thanks again for this man, having your help makes me feel a lot better about the coming crisis" responded Dante with a smile. Shortly after this Dante was lead through the castle, towards where Nightwalker stayed. The royal guard that was escorting Dante stopped in front of a closed door and started to speak to him.
"This is captain Nightwalker's chambers" stated the royal guard in a professional tone before walking away. Dante smiled to himself as he opened the closed door, eager to catch up with Nightwalker.
