Chapter 367: The War Begins
"I really hope that Freed's shield will hold out" stated Dante as he stood in the middle of the guildhall along with Markov, looking at the radar system displaying the fifty ships floating over Magnolia. Since Dante was connected to Freed along with the rest of Fairy Tail thanks to Warren's telepathy magic, he heard Freed's voice speak inside his head.
"Don't worry, my shield will hold strong" responded Freed in a somewhat strained tone as he felt the drain in his magical power when multiple attacks from the floating ships collided into his magical shield. Watching as the multiple attacks hit Freed's shied, Dante was relieved to see that the shield was holding out for now. Knowing that Freed couldn't keep this up forever, Dante started to speak.
"We need to make our counterattack soon, Freed can't hold out forever" stated Dante, speaking to Markov. Markov nodded his head as he started to speak.
"Our counterattack is already underway" responded Markov while Dante nodded his head in agreement. Reaching out through Warren's telepathy link, Dante started to speak to Bisca.
"Bisca how is the Jupiter cannon" asked Dante through the telepathy link. Dante could almost hear the smile in Bisca's voice as she started to speak.
"It's ready to go. I'll shoot the main ship right out of the sky" responded Bisca in a confident tone as she aimed the magical Jupiter cannon towards the flagship floating in the sky above Magnolia. Dante along with Markov watched the radar as they waited for Bisca to make the counterattack, they both knew that it took fifteen minutes for the magical Jupiter cannon to charge up a shot so it was important that Bisca didn't miss.
Dante and Markov watched as the attack from the magical Jupiter cannon fired towards the flagship, seemingly right on target. Just as the devastating magical attack was about to collide with the flagship, a large sandstorm appeared which deflected the attack. While the attack was deflected, serval ships were destroyed still but the main flagship remained. Dante seeing that the attack had failed to take out it's target swore to himself as he started to speak.
"Damn I didn't know that Ajeel could deflect an attack from the Jupiter cannon. We need to switch to plan b then" stated Dante in a frustrated tone. Reaching out through Warren's telepathy, Dante started to speak to Bisca.
"Bisca we are switching to plan b, charge up the next shot and wait for a chance to fire" stated Dante before he turned his attention towards Markov and the ghost of Marvis.
"I'll leave command to you two for now since plan b involves me" stated Dante before he started to walk out of the guildhall. Walking out of the guild hall, Dante soon joined the three first generation dragon slayers waiting outside. Using his magic to transform into his Arc Angel Soul Micheal form, Dante spoke to the three dragon slayers.
"Are you three ready to go" stated Dante with a confident smile. Slamming his fist into his open palm, Natsu started to speak.
"Oh yah! I'm all fired up" responded Natsu in an excited tone. Smiling confidently at Dante, Gajeel started to speak.
"Hell yah I'm ready, this is going to be fun" responded Gajeel in an eager tone. With a determined look on her face, Wendy started to speak.
"I'm ready master" responded Wendy in a determined tone, eager to fight for her guild. Nodding his head with a confident smile, Dante started to speak.
"Great to hear it everyone" responded Dante in a confident tone as he reached out through Warren's telepathy to address the entirety of the guild.
"The special anti-air defense squad is ready to go" stated Dante to everyone in Fairy Tail as he spread out his wings, readying himself to take flight. After Dante said these words, he heard Markov's voice speak inside his head.
"Understood. Fly my children and know that you have the eternity of Fairy Tail behind you" responded Markov, speaking into Dante and the dragon slayer's heads. After Markov said these words, the exceeds started to carry the dragon slayers into the air. Taking flight, Dante started to speak to the dragon slayers.
"Follow me! Let's show these fools what happens when you mess with Fairy Tail" shouted Dante as he started to fly through the air with the dragon slayers following behind him. Using his powerful wings, Dante flew towards the ships floating in the air as he summoned the sword of David in his hand. The floating ships were coming closer as Dante and the others flew towards them. Raising the sword of David high into the air, Dante shouted.
"For Fairy Tail" shouted Dante, the dragon slayers behind him shouting similar statements before they crashed into the first floating ship.
Using the sword of David, Dante channeled his magical power and slashed through the main hull of the first floating ship. As Dante slashed clean through the floating ship, Natsu and the other dragon slayers were inflicting similar damage to the other ships. With a powerful blast of fire magic, Natsu set a floating ship on fire which forced the occupants to abandon the burning ship. Gajeel channeled his magical power and turned his arm into a giant sword which he used to cut through a floating ship. Taking a deep breath, Wendy channeled her magical power as she flew towards a ship and shouted her attack.
"Sky Dragon Roar" yelled Wendy as she fired a strong breath attack towards a floating ship, blasting serval occupants away. As Dante continued to cut through the floating ships, a large sandstorm surrounded him along with the dragon slayers. Feeling the rough sand batter his body, Dante shouted through the sandstorm.
"Is everyone okay" shouted Dante, worried that the exceeds wouldn't be able to take the sandstorm. After hearing confirmation that everyone was okay, Dante was about to speak before he heard Natsu shout through the sandstorm.
"Screw this, let's take out Ajeel! Follow me" shouted Natsu as Happy flew him towards the flagship.
"Like hell I'm going to let Salamander have all the fun" shouted Gajeel as Panther Lilly flew him towards the flagship.
"Right behind you two" shouted Wendy in a determined tone as she followed behind the other two dragon slayers. Dante was relieved to see that the three dragon slayers and the exceeds were still okay, but that relief was quickly replaced by more worry. Realizing their mistake, Dante flew towards them as he shouted.
"Hold on you three, you're forgetting about" Dante started to say before he watched the dragon slayers land on the flagship. Just like Dante was worried about, the dragon slayers were immediately crippled by their motion sickness.
"Hahaha are you three serious? This is pathetic" stated Ajeel in an amused and mocking tone as Natsu and the other dragon slayers struggled and failed to stand up. Landing onto the ship, Dante stared down Ajeel as he started to speak.
"Keep laughing, I'll be glad to wipe that smile off your face" stated Dante in a determined tone before he turned his attention towards the dragon slayers before he continued to speak.
"Honestly how can you three forget about your motion sickness. You would think having such a huge weakness, you three would keep a better eye out for triggers" stated Dante in a somewhat tired tone since Natsu and the other's should have used better judgement. While she was struggling not to vomit, Wendy started to speak.
"I'm sorry, I just wanted to help" responded Wendy in a weak and pained tone. Hearing Ajeel laugh, Dante turned his attention back towards him as he started to speak.
"Haha dragon slayers are really pathetic, having such a stupid weakness" stated Ajeel in an amused and mocking tone before he continued to speak.
"And who are you" asked Ajeel in an amused tone as he meet Dante's determined gaze. Smiling confidently at Ajeel, Dante started to speak.
"I'm the guy who is going to take you down" responded Dante in a confident tone. In response to Dante's words, Ajeel laughed before he started to speak.
"Haha that's a good one. Like I would ever lose to a fairy" responded Ajeel in an amused tone before he continued to speak.
"I am one of the mighty Spriggan twelve. There isn't a wizard in all of Fiore that can take on a member of the Spriggan twelve" stated Ajeel in a mocking tone, not at all intimated despite the amount of magical power that Dante was radiating.
"Yah you keep thinking that, it will be fun to see the look on your face when I prove you dead wrong" responded Dante as he spread his wings. After saying these words, Dante flew towards Ajeel. Using the sword of David, Dante slashed through Ajeel but found that his body morphed into sand. Laughing at Dante's attack, Ajeel started to speak.
"Hahaha do you call that an attack" asked Ajeel in a mocking tone before he used his magic to send a powerful blast of hardened sand crashing into Dante's chest. Dante grunted in pain as he was pushed backwards from the powerful attack. Using his wings Dante flew some distance away from Ajeel as he tried to formulate a plan.
"I'm just getting started" responded Dante in an annoyed tone as he tried to think of another plan of attack. It was obvious that Dante's physical attacks would not work against Ajeel, but Dante wondered if his magical attacks would work. Channeling his magical power, Dante flew towards Ajeel once again. Once again Dante slashed through Ajeel with the Sword of David, this time he was channeling holy power through the blade. Just like last time Dante's attack went right through Ajeel as he morphed his body into sand.
"Again?! So even my magical attacks are useless" stated Dante to himself before he was blasted backwards by another attack from Ajeel. Landing some distance away from Ajeel, Dante tried to think of a way to make an attack land on him.
"What's the matter" asked Ajeel in a mocking tone as he channeled his magical power, summoning a powerful sandstorm. Dante could feel the powerful sand hitting his body as Ajeel continued to speak.
"I thought you said you were going to be the one to beat me?! Are you still confidant about that" asked Ajeel in a mocking tone as his sandstorm continued to assault Dante. Dante had to squint in order to see through the sandstorm as he started to speak.
"It doesn't matter how strong you are or if my attacks won't work. I'll still find a way to beat you" shouted Dante thinking that failure wasn't an option. Just before Ajeel was about to respond mockingly to Dante's words, another voice started to speak.
"And you won't do it alone master" stated Erza in a determined tone as she landed next to Dante. Dante smiled gratefully at Erza; he liked his chances of winning now that he had Erza backing him up.
"Nice to see you Erza" responded Dante with a grateful smile. Smiling back at Dante, Erza started to speak.
"Nice to see you as well master. I figured you could use my help" responded Erza with a smile. Nodding his head, Dante started to speak.
"You figured right Erza, let me give you the run down of this guys abilities" responded Dante, shouting through the sandstorm before he explained Ajeel's abilities to Erza. Nodding her head in understanding, Erza started to speak.
"I see, thanks for the information master" responded Erza in a confident tone before she used her magical power to equip a new sword. Recognizing the sword that Erza was now using, Dante smiled as he realized what Erza was planning on doing.
"So that's your plan Erza, smart. I'll back you up so you can get a hit in" responded Dante with a smile, thinking that Ajeel was in for a rude surprise. With Erza's help, Dante knew that Ajeel would soon be defeated.
