It was finally Christmas Eve. The whole house was decorated, the presents were wrapped and family was excited. After much deliberation and after a lot of arguing Allie was going to be home for Christmas. And Eric's family would come to visit over New Years. The final decision came after Allie broke down sobbing over the idea of being with his family over Christmas after how they treated her. It broke all their hearts so they decided to do what was best for Allie. She was most important and last thing they wanted was for her to traumatized at such a young age. Kim had gotten up early to start all the prep for dinner that night. The desserts were made, the drinks were chilling. Swedish Meatballs were made, they just needed to be cooked. The rye bread was in the oven when Adam came downstairs.
"What time did you wake up darling?" Adam was yawning as be walked towards her. "I don't even know. But I got a lot done already. I'm still tired but I'm excited to spend our first Christmas together as a family. It's crazy to be here with you. I'm so happy about it." Kim buried her face in his chest hugging him tight. "God me too! This is freaking epic darling! We are meant to be!" He kissed her head holding her just as tight. "How about I make some breakfast while you relax?" He wanted her to sit and rest a bit. "Sounds good. Breads in the oven in case the timer goes off." Kim sat on the couch and closed her eyes for a bit.
Adam saw her eyes close and smiled a bit. He started to make breakfast for the entire family. He realized the kids would be up soon. And these kids were always hungry in the morning. Like was the first one awake running into the kitchen to see what was cooking. "Daddy Adam. Mommy's sleeping." Allie whispered. "Oh I know sweetheart. Let's get you fed and then we can get Riley fed and then mommy. Are you hungry sweetie?" Adam already knew the answer but he liked to ask just in case. "Yes. I'm starving!" She said very dramatically. "Okay sweetie let's get some food in the belly." He ruffled her hair and brought her plate to the table for her to eat.
He heard Riley moving upstairs and headed up to get him before he woke Kim. "Hey buddy! Good morning! You ready to get up?" Adam picked him up out if his crib and brought him to the bathroom to potty. "Morning Daddy! I hungry!" Riley was still partly asleep. "Oh I know bud. But you need to potty first, wash your hands then you can eat." He wanted to keep the potty training going, keeping the routine going forward. Consistently is key he had learned. Once Riley was cleaned up they headed back down the stairs to get breakfast. Riley was in his high chair before Adam brought over his plate of cut up breakfast. It was nice, they enjoyed it.
Kim woke a bit later realizing she had slept for over an hour. "Baby! Why didn't you wake me?" Kim whined seeing the bread was out of the oven and the kids were showered and ready for the day. "You needed the sleep. So that's what you got. Now come on. You need to eat and get ready for the day too." Adam had showered with Riley so it was easier to get ready for the day. "Thank you! You are amazing!" Kim leaned up to kiss him before sitting down for her breakfast. "Not amazing. Just doing what you deserve. Now eat up. We have things to do before the family arrives." Adam kissed her head before heading back to the kitchen to clean up from breakfast.
Kim finished eating and added her dishes to the dishwasher before heading to the shower. After her shower she found the kids singing and dancing to Christmas music. The number of dance parties had increased over the last few weeks. A lot of fun times were happening in the house these days. The air seemed lighter, the kids seemed happier. The family seemed closer ever since Riley started calling Kim mommy. "Can I join the party?" Kim asked walking in dressed nicely for the holidays. "Mommy!" Both kids ran over to her getting hugs. "Hi babies. Let's keep dancing!" Kim suggested.
The dance party lasted for another hour till the kids were exhausted. They were also hungry and thirsty. Kim was quick to make them a snack and get them drinks while the music still played. Once the kids were seated eating again Kim moved to Adam where they started dancing together. "Remember that night at the club when we were kids. Such a fun night. Incredibly sexy!" Kim smiled as they danced close. "That was a fun night. I can only imagine what might have happened if you hadn't stopped things. It was getting pretty hot and heavy." Adam chuckled when she swatted his chest.
"How much longer you think the kids will last before they are asleep again?" She asked quietly. "Not sure but they danced hard for two hours or more. They will need sleep before tonight. No way they will make it without sleep." Adam chuckles lightly thinking of how bad the night could go without sleep. "Oh I know. Allie will crash hard and ugly without a nap. Trust me on that. It's scary ugly. No one wants to see that." Kim cringed thinking about the year she threw a temper tantrum. It had been epic and she honestly surprised no one called the cops. "Well trust me Ry was the same last year. No one wants to see that again. I'm surprised I can still hear after all that screaming." Adam cringed similar to how Kim had just done.
"So family is arriving starting at 4. So the kids need to be down by 1 and up again by 3, 3:30 at the latest so they are ready in time. I have their outfits picked out already. They are Christmas outfits but not over the top. I also picked out your outfit for later. It's not crazy don't worry. I'm not one of those family matching pjs people." She knew she was rambling but she had a lot to do and was worried how it would all go. "Hey it's fine. I don't mind looking good. You should know that. Plus everything will be fine. Relax a little. No one is going upstairs so that doesn't need to be perfect today. We got this." He tried to calm her but knew she was in full on crazy mode. Family gatherings always brought it out but this was different since it was their first Christmas together.
They spent the next few hours getting the kids down fir naps and cleaning the house. It was definitely easier having two people doing the work but it still made for a long day. By the time the first of the family had arrived the tree was lit, the music was on softly and the outside looked like a winter wonderland. It was set to be the perfect Christmas. The kids happily paraded around in their holiday outfits while Kim made sure everything was perfect. The family munched away on snacks as Kim worked on the actual dinner. People offered to help but we're all sent away. She wanted to do this alone. Plus the kitchen was a little small for extra help.
By the time dinner was served the whole family was buzzing with excitement. No one knew what Kim had planned for dinner, she wanted it to be a surprise. "So I just want to thank you all for coming over to dinner tonight to celebrate Christmas Eve with us. And since it's our first Christmas together we decided to bring back an old tradition. We made my grandmothers Swedish meatballs for dinner with loads of sides. And her famous rice pudding serves both hot and cold depending on how you prefer it. I also made her Swedish Rye bread. I wish they were still here with us but I know they are here in spirit. So dig in." Kim sat and passed the dishes around the table. She was proud of herself for pulling this off. It was a tin of people but she was happy to have them here.
After dinner the kids couldn't wait to open gifts. "Table has to be clear and dishes done first." Kim's mother added knowing it was another tradition from the past. Kim just smiled letting her mind drift. "Well in that case let me help with the dishes. These kids are about to go nuts!" Adam stepped in to help get the kitchen clean while his sister got the left overs packed up. "Kate I have to go containers over here with a sharpie so you can label them. I don't want any left overs." Kim showed her where the items were before returning to the dishes. It took about an hour before it was clean enough and the kids really were bursting at the seems. As she entered the living room she brought out a tray of cookies she made and little plates. While Adam brought garbage bags knowing the mess would drive Kim crazy.
"How about we let the kids open their gifts first. They can stay busy then the adults can all go. Does that work?" Adam asked knowing Riley wouldn't be able to sit still very long knowing he had more gifts to open. Everyone agreed. Wanting the kids to be happy and occupied while the adults took longer to open their gifts. Once the kids were done opening their gifts and were playing happily the adults took turns opening the gifts. They went youngest to oldest. It was fun and allowed for each to enjoy opening the gift instead of feeling like it was a free for all. Kim also passed around cookies and made sure the drinks were full. She played the perfect hostess the entire night. By 8 the kids were crashing quickly. The kids said thank you and good night to each adult as they were taken to bed for the night.
They continued to talk and having dessert till all the adults left for the night. It was close to 10 before everyone left and the couple was alone again. "Well here we are again. The two of us left to clean up the kitchen and dishes alone. Let's get this done so we can go to bed. I'm beat!" Adam emptied the dishwasher and started to load it again. "Yeah I'm totally beat. But I can't wait to give you your presents tomorrow." Kim giggled slightly. She was exhausted but still excited for the next day. "Oh I can't wait for you to see your presents tomorrow. It's gonna be good." Adam winked as he continued to work. Once it was all done they headed up to bed.
They got undressed and fell into bed together. "I'm so tired. I can't even think anymore." Kim yawned closing her eyes and falling asleep. "Sleep well darling." He kissed the top of her head before he fell asleep next to her.
The next morning Kim woke up alone in bed. It was odd but she could smell breakfast cooking downstairs. She pulled on some warmer clothes before heading down to see she was the last one up. "Thank god! We want presents!" Allie yelled as she saw her mom. "Oh really. That's all you have to say this morning." Kim was shocked. "Sorry Merry Christmas mommy!" Allie said sweetly. "Merry Christmas! Let's eat before we open gifts. Looks like breakfast is almost ready." Kim walked towards the kitchen. "Merry Christmas!" Kim kissed Riley's cheek before kissing Adam deeply. "Well damn. Merry Christmas darling!" Adam smirked.
"Breakfast is ready. Let's eat." Adam placed the food on the table for the family to dig in. The kids ate quickly squirming in their seats ready to get to the presents. When the kids finished they headed right to the tree to wait. "I guess we should hurry up." Kim pointed to the kids. "Maybe. So Kevin dropped off the gifts from the kids. I'm very interested to see what they picked out with his help." He rolled his eyes knowing it was going to be good but probably funny. "I'm sure it will be good. I can't wait for you to open your gifts. I put tons of thought into them." Kim was impressed by the gifts she found. "Well I can't wait either. I had a lot of help pulling it together." He was actually nervous that she wouldn't see it as a gift but at the same time he knew she would be thrilled to get away for a week alone together.
The small family gathered around the tree after turning on the Christmas music. "Okay let's get the kids each a gift to open." Kim placed a gift with each kid. They watched as they kids opened their new bikes, ice skates, art sets, clothes and other toys. Once the kids were occupied again the adults exchanged gifts. "Your first gift." Kim handed it to Adam with a very big smile on her face. He opened the package to see a starry sky with latitude and longitude and a date, July 4th 2009. He eyes glossed over. "The sky on our first date at the beach." He was stunned allowing his tears to fall. "More specifically the exact spot on the boardwalk over looking the water." She was crying as well. She really had put a lot of thought into it. "I love it! Thank you for this. It really means a lot." He kissed her before handing her the first gift.
Kim opened the envelope seeing the tickets inside. "Really? Janet Jackson concert tickets? This is amazing! I can't wait! Thank you so much!" Kim wrapped her arms around his neck kissing him deep. "Your next one." Kim handed the next one. He opened it slowly seeing a framed photo. It was professionally framed and it was the first family photo they had together. Taken in the exact place of their first date. "Kim darling! It's perfect. We are hanging in here today and the other is going over our bed." He kissed her pretty deeply. "Your next one." Adam handed it over hoping she was just as excited as he was. "Omg really? A trip to the beach? Over Valentine's Day? So we will be alone then?" Kim asked excitedly. "Yup! Your parents have agreed to watch them here at home while we are away." He was totally excited by her reaction and to being away alone with his girl.
"This has been amazing! Should we open the gifts from the kids now?" Kim laughed holding up the boxes. "Yeah let's see what Kevin got us." Adam laughed opening his gift bag to see a mug that said Worlds Greatest Dad And two hockey tickets. "Damn this rocks! Your turn." Adam was shocked that his friend went all out like this. Kim opened hers to see a mig saying Worlds Greatest Mom. And two tickets to a baseball game. "Damn! Kevin hooked us up! He has so many connections and they paid off big time for us. We have to thank him!" They took a family photo with their gifts and sent it off to their best friend.
When the kids crashed for nap time Kim brought Adam upstairs for his last gift. They had showered separately this morning so he hadn't seen her get dressed. "So you have one more gift to unwrap." Kim said as she locked the door. "Well I do like unwrapping my presents. The bigger the better." He kissed her slowly while he started to undress her. "Oh damn darling! I am loving this red on you. If I remember correctly you wore red the first time we met." His lips were on her neck moving slowly towards her collarbone. Nipping along the way hearing her moan in bliss. His fingers undoing her jeans and pushing them down her long legs. "Oh yeah. We need more of these. Crazy hot!" He knelt down in front of her helping step out of the jeans. "We can buy the whole store for all I care." Kim moaned pulling him back up.
He stood before her fully dressed but Kim wasn't having it. She took little care in ridding him of his shirt. Right before buckling his jeans and pushing them down quickly. He whispered right before kissing her and bringing her to their bed. "That was kind of the point!" Kim giggled as she was dropped on the bed. She bounced slightly before pulling him down to meet her lips again. "Do I get to play?" Adam really wanted to cuff her right. The sight of her in red, breathing heavy, eyes full of lust did something almost primal to his body. "Yes you can." She watched him grin walking off to get his cuffs

His fingers wasted no time in removing the red lacy top gently as he knew to probably cost a small fortune. Once it was removed his fingers went straight to her breasts pinching the nipple driving her mad.

"I miss being able to naked with you. I feel like it's been so crazy lately. Between work, the kids, Eric and his drama. We need this more. And I don't just mean the sex. I mean just the intimacy. I miss it." Adam couldn't deny work had been getting in the way lately. "I hear ya. I really do. I promise to try to make more of an effort to have the kids do a sleep over with our parents or with Drew. I'm sure Erin and Jay would love to have the kids for a night here and there." Kim offered knowing it would help ease his mind some. "We can't just pawn the kids off so we can get laid. Can we?" He cringed slightly. "We call it date night. Or sleepovers. What people infer is their own business." Kim smirked before pulling him into a passionate kiss.
"Round 2?" He asked with a beaming smile. "Why not? We both missed it and the kids are still asleep. And you are already inside me. So yeah." She knew he didn't much help in that department. All she needed to was say sex and he was ready and able to go. Their bodies always responded well to each other. They laid on their side as they already were. It was pleasant enough though they could tell they were not thrilled with Allie being in Chicago for Christmas. And Allie didn't care. Adam and Riley were more important than her grandparents. They lived far away and she had little connection to them. The birthday incident just made the connection smaller. Kim and Adam couldn't find it in them to care.
As the call ended Allie went back to playing with her toys and the adults got dinner in the oven. They went with a simple baked ziti with a meat sauce. They wanted an easy night after yesterday. They deserved it. After the dinner they small family gathers around the tv to watch Christmas movies. "I think this has been the best Christmas ever. All of my dreams coming true." Kim whispered as she saw the kids drifting again. "Mine too darling, mine too." He held her tight long after the kids fell asleep. He knew he was even more certain about his decision to marry the women in his arms. He truly was it for him. Even if it took 13 years to find her again.
