"This is our base of operations." Giovanni said meekly as he walked Rory and Aoki towards a small white building with a giant J engraved on the doors. In front of the building was a Team Jet grunt who was fiddling with his Walkman.
"Ah Giovanni! And you two!" A voice rang out as Amanda walked out of the building followed by a short young man who was carrying a worn-out rucksack big enough to store an armada of ocean liners and carrying a toolbox that murdered anyone's sense of smell. To say that the boy was dirty would be an understatement. His skin was covered with all sorts of stains from oil to paint to wood polisher and so on, his clothes looked as if it had been dragged through the liquid waste bin of a factory, left in a dumpster to dry, and then was cleaned by having a pile of rocks smash them repeatedly. There were rips all over his clothes and overalls that had a gust of wind blown in the right place, he would have been standing there in the nude, his hair looked as it had just been on fire and his face was badly shaven.
"I am so glad to see you." She gestured at the young man standing behind her "This is Flint, the assistant gym leader at Pewter city." She said, "He is a natural builder and we have finished doing some renovations to this building."
Flint nodded "It's a pleasure to meet you two" he said joyfully as he extended his hand and gave Rory and Aoki a handshake that turned the bones in their hand to dust. "This building used to be a dump, Team Dark was planning to make this one of their bases, but Team Jet put an end to that." He said as he slowly gritted his teeth. "It was hard to do all those renovations you asked for Miss Amanda, but it's all done."
"Good!" Amanda said as she took out a large looking device and pressed a button "You shall have your payment now, and your services are most appreciated."
Flint nodded as he looked at the three young teens in front of him. "If you need so much as a sink to be fixed or to rebuild your house, I am the man to call!" Flint said as he walked away.
The room Rory and Aoki found themselves in was relatively simple. A giant Team Jet banner was displayed from the ceiling, in front of the entrance was a giant desk with a man sitting on a chair that was more like a throne fit for the 2nd least favourite son in a royal family, the desk was filled with random junk from a mountain of papers to two giant computer monitors. To the left and right side of the room were rows of doors that led into office as well as a small sitting room with couches that are too hard and too soft at the same time and a cart filled with a large assortment of beverages and snacks.
"Here is my office" Amanda said as she led the three to a simple looking office that had a row of bookshelves, a simple desk with a small pile of papers, a large cup overflowing with pens and a large computer. A simple pot plant was placed on the corner and behind the desk was a giant map of Kanto that had several making from white, black, red, and green.
"So, this is the situation we are facing" Amanda said grimly as she pointed out several locations around Kanto. "Team Dark had all of Lavendar Town under their control, as well as the routes around it" she said as she pointed out the town on the map as if the harder, she pushed on the map the more Team Dark grunts she would weed out. She then pointed at fiery Cinnabar Island, "We have the Ember eye gang running rampant around Cinnabar Island…" She said as she then pointed at Fuchsia City "and finally we have the Angel of the End Biker gang..." She said the name of the gang as if it had somehow personally offended her in some way.
She then whirled around her face grim "And we are the only ones who can take them down. Force them to surrender."
Aoki nodded "We have had some run ins with Team Dark. They are something…"
"And that's not all." Amanda said "We are also having to deal with the Ember eye gang on top of the Angel of the End Biker Gang, and you can only imagine what they are like."
"Why are you telling us this?" Rory asked unsure on what Amanda is trying to rope them into.
"It's simple." Amanda said, "All you have to do is gain Team Jet's respect in a given area." She flicked through a pile of paper as she continued to talk "and one way to do that is to do some errands and help around the community."
She pulled out a sheet of paper and handed it over to Rory and Aoki "Take this one for example" Amanda said, "An old man just down the street needs some herbs in Viridian Forest for his grandson who is sick. I only got this request an hour ago, and if you just do this one simple favour I promise that I will leave you two alone."
"We would be happy to help." Aoki said as she took out Zip the Beatling who looked up at his trainer cheerfully "Anyway it would be nice to explore it since we had never been to Viridian Forest."
Rory shrugged his shoulders "Alright I don't see why not." He said "It would be a nice little adventure and I don't see the harm in helping."
"Can I come?" Giovanni asked meekly as he fiddled with his hands.
Amanda shook her head "Sorry G, but I have some patrol duty for you." She looked up at the two "Please be on your way, you should be able to see the herb it's not hard to miss."
Rory nodded, "See you around." He said as he walked out of the room unaware that in less than an hour he and everyone he knows and cares about will be dragged into a war and an adenture that will shake not all of Kanto but the world to its core.
