Author's Note: Look, this type of story has been written multiple times by people who are much better writers than me. But this stupid idea would not leave me alone and it's been driving me crazy. This is probably filled with many grammar mistakes. This is also filled with nearly every fluffy/cheesy trope you could possibly think of and I will not apologize for it.
May 2009
Monica looked through her closet, thinking maybe this time she would find an outfit she'd like. She hated how stressed out this was making her. She was going on a date. With her husband. Who she's been married to for eight years. It shouldn't be a big deal. But it was a big deal because she couldn't remember the last time she went on a date. A real date. Where she got dressed up and got to go to a nice restaurant. Technically this was supposed to be their wedding anniversary dinner. But Chandler was busy at work with a new proposal and with the twins' birthday earlier in the month, their actual anniversary was spent with the two of them falling asleep on the couch. A younger Monica would have been furious for missing something so important. But as she's gotten older, she no longer has the need to be perfect all of the time. Only about 90% of the time. Which was a huge improvement for her. So almost two weeks later, they're finally having their anniversary dinner.
She loved her kids, loved them more than anything, but she needed a break. Especially after their fifth birthday where the entire day was spent with the two of them trying to calm down two very excited five year olds, while trying to get the party ready. The party itself went smoothly, except for when it was time for cake and Jack and Erica were fighting over who got to blow out the candles.
"I'm older!" Jack had said. "So I get to blow out the candles!"
"Well I'm taller!" Erica had shouted back.
"That doesn't matter!"
"Yes it does!"
"No it doesn't!"
"YES IT DOES!"
"NO IT DOESN'T!"
"So this is what I missed out on by being an only child," Chandler had said as they watched the two continue to argue.
"It's only gonna get worse," Monica had replied and patted him on the shoulder.
So when her parents offered to watch Jack and Erica for the night she practically jumped with delight. But now she was overthinking everything, trying to figure out what to wear. She had initially hoped that she would have time to go shopping with Rachel and find a new dress, but then Emma got sick and Erica started dance lessons and all of a sudden, the week was over.
"I'm sure that whatever you pick out will be fine," Rachel said over the phone. "I mean you could probably wear a garbage bag and Chandler would still be attracted to you."
"I just feel like I'm questioning everything," Monica said. "I don't even know what you do on a date anymore."
"Just be lucky that you're not going on another museum date." Rachel grumbled.
After talking with Rachel, she looked through the closet once again and finally found a simple red dress that she hoped would do the trick. She wanted to look good tonight. Every time she looked in a mirror, she would find another wrinkle or another gray hair. She knew that she was getting older, but it's hard to ignore all the self-doubt that creeps in. Or all the other moms in her kids' class who are so much younger than her. It's not that she doesn't trust Chandler, but it doesn't help with her self-esteem. She put on the red dress and smoothed it out. She finished putting on her make-up and her shoes before heading down the stairs where Chandler was waiting for her.
"Wow," he stared as she walked down the stairs. "You look…incredible."
"You clean up nicely as well," She responded and couldn't help but grin. He's in a dark suit, which brought out his eyes and he gave her that smile that made her want to melt.
"Are you ready for our date?" he asked.
"So ready." She replied.
"We have the whole night to ourselves. Just the two of us."
"No mention of kids."
That lasted for about 5 minutes after they sat down at the restaurant. It was a newer place in their area and with the weather being so nice, they decided to walk that night. Monica had mentioned how much Erica enjoyed her ballet class, which led to Chandler mentioning that Jack really enjoyed watching tennis matches with him.
"Oh maybe we should sign him up for lessons!" Monica said excitedly.
"I don't know if that's a good idea," Chandler said.
"Why not? Imagine the cute little tennis racquet!"
"Please don't take this the wrong way," Chandler said. "But I worry that your competitiveness will be…too much on the kids."
"What?" Monica rolled her eyes. "I'm not being overly competitive; I just want them to be the best!"
"Do you remember Emma's last soccer match?"
"That ref had it out for her! And her daughter was on the opposite team!"
"Yes, and now we are no longer allowed to watch our niece's soccer games."
"Fine," Monica mumbled and went back to eating her food. "We're not even supposed to be talking about the kids right now."
"You're right," Chandler said and then paused for a few moments. "So…what did we talk about before we had kids?"
"I honestly have no idea." Monca replied.
They ended finishing their dinner, talking about the twins and how crazy it was that they were already five. They would be starting kindergarten at the end of the summer. Monica then thought back to when she and Chandler first started dating. They would go out and sneak off to a restaurant after her shift was over and would just sit there and talk. And they could hold hands and kiss and not have to constantly look over their shoulders to make sure one of their friends didn't suddenly barge into the apartment. It was nice. She missed spending time with him.
"I've missed this," Monica said as they were walking back home. She placed her arm in the crook of his elbow.
"Me too," Chandler smiled at her. "Maybe we can try to do this more often and actually go on a date."
Monica opened her mouth to respond where there was suddenly a large clap of thunder. They both looked up and saw the large dark clouds covering the sky.
"No! No! No!" Chandler exclaimed. "I checked the weather earlier. It wasn't supposed to rain tonight!"
They were still about a half a mile away from their house. There was no way they would be able to outrun the storm. So she just laughed as the rain fell harder.
"We can't ever have a normal date, can we?" Chandler asked.
"I don't think so," Monica responded and pulled him into a kiss and wrapped her arms tightly around him as the rain fell harder.
"What was that for?" Chandler asked out of breath when she pulled away.
"I've always wanted to have a big romantic kiss in the middle of a storm. Haven't you?"
"I guess I haven't really thought about it." Chandler said. "But this doesn't feel very romantic to me. It just feels very cold and wet."
Monica rolled her eyes and grabbed his hand as they both ran back to their house.
They were both completely drenched by the time they made it to the house. Monica tried her best to make it to the bathroom without creating giant puddles everywhere. She'll probably have to take their clothes to the dry cleaner in the morning. Chandler had already taken his jacket off and was unbuttoning his dress shirt and Monica found herself staring at him as he pulled the shirt off and her breath got caught in her throat. It had been so long since they've been able to spend time together…alone. Chandler had been so busy at work since he got promoted. And they were both so exhausted by the end of the day it usually resulted in them crashing as soon as they hit the bed.
"See something you like?" Chandler asked and she realized that she had been caught staring. Chandler had started playing tennis with his work friends. At first Monica was upset that he didn't want to play with her, but she was happy that he was finally making friends with the people that he worked with. And she had to admit, all the tennis made his arms look really nice.
She tilted her head and walked slowly over to him. She turned around so that her back was to him and pulled her hair over to one side. "Can you unzip the dress for me?" she asked innocently. She could pull the zipper down herself. But this was much more fun. She could feel his fingers on her back as he slowly pulled the zipper down and gasped when she felt his lips brush her shoulder. He pulled the dress down her body and it landed in a heap on the ground. His lips traveled from her shoulder to her neck before she pulled away from him.
"Mon," he whined and tried to reach for her.
"I can't leave my dress on the floor; I need to hang it to dry." She said and grabbed her dress so she could at least hang it up. She barely placed it on the hanger before Chandler grabbed her and kissed her hard as Monica gasped loudly into his mouth. They both somehow found a way to remove the rest of their clothing and stumbled into the bedroom and fell onto the bed. Her skin was still cold from the rain, but the heat from his mouth made it feel like she was on fire. His lips traveled down her body before he stopped and swirled his tongue around her nipple, and she gasped again.
"Chandler," she choked out his name as his hands slipped in between her thighs, rubbing the small bundle of nerves with his long fingers. He continued stroking her with his fingers and with his mouth still on her breast, she could feel the pleasure building and building when he suddenly removed his hand.
"Chandler," she whined and the grin he gave her let her know this was payback for the dress earlier.
He slowly moved down and placed multiple kisses on her inner thighs before placing his mouth on her center and she nearly came off the bed. He slipped one finger inside and curled it slowly while he placed long, soft kisses on her clit until she fell apart on his tongue and his fingers. She grabbed and pulled his hair tightly as she came and she could feel him moan against her. When her legs finally stopped shaking she pulled him towards her so that she could kiss him again, long and slow. Her hand travel down his body and wrapped around his cock, pumping slowly and he moaned against her mouth.
"Mon," he gasped. "Monica, unless you want this to end very quickly you have to stop that."
She removed her hand and laid back on the bed, groaning as he entered her. He rocked himself into her again and again, his hands clutched the sheets as desire took over. The rain continued to pour over the house, but both were completely oblivious to the storm. Monica wrapped her legs around him so she could pull her even closer to him. She could feel herself close to the edge again.
"Chandler," she groaned again. "Chandler, please."
"Anything you want," he whispered against her neck, almost like a prayer. "I'll give you anything you want." His fingers slipped in between her thighs again and she nearly cried out his name again as the pleasure shot through her body like electricity. It didn't take long as Chandler's thrusting became more erratic and he spilled into her.
Eventually when her heart rate went back to normal, Chandler slowly pulled himself out of her.
"That was amazing," he said staring at the ceiling. "You're amazing."
She smiled and kissed him slowly. Eventually they both fell asleep listening to the sound of the rain.
Author's Note: Yes I did specifically wait to post the very first chapter today because it's Chandler and Monica's wedding anniversary. Also my tumblr is blue-and-browneyes if anyone wants to talk about these two because they are living rent free in my head. Have actually thought about making a discord sever at some point. Hope you like it.
