(Mariska was on her last break of the day when her cell went off. She takes out her pocket to see that it's Kelli calling. She hurries to answer it hoping for some good news.)
Mariska: Kelli good news I hope?
Kelli: Hello to you too Mar.
Mariska: I'm sorry, hey so did you talk to your dad?
Kelli: I did and he will be sending your package first thing tomorrow morning. It should get to you in three days because he's sending it express.
Mariska: Oh thank god. Thank you so much Kelli I owe you and please tell your dad thank you.
Kelli: I will and please do me a favor while you are out there.
Mariska: What?
Kelli: Have fun.
Mariska: (laughs) I'll try, I do want to tour the city so I might get out this weekend.
Kelli: Good, maybe you can find a man to lay up under while you're touring the city.
Mariska: Is sex all you think about?
Kelli: Pretty much, especially if it's great sex.
Mariska: Well I've never had great sex let alone good sex. At this time in my life, my focus is school and getting through that, before I let another man in my life.
Kelli: Don't let that moron of an ex sour all good men for you Marsh.
Mariska: I'm not, I just won't fall so deep when I do get into another relationship.
Kelli: Oh please you know you love all that romantic shit and holding hands. You're going to fall fast as soon as the right guy comes along.
Mariska: Shut up!
Kelli: Look I have to go.
Mariska: What your friends is waiting for?
Kelli: Yes he is if you know what I mean.
Mariska: Gross, bye Kels.
Kelli: Talk to you tomorrow Marsha.
(Mariska hangs up before she goes to look for Chris. She checks his office but he isn't there and as she turns around she bumps into Sean.)
Mariska: (gasp) Ohhh, sorry Sean.
Sean: It's ok, where is the fire?
Mariska: Have you seen Chris, there's something I need to run by him.
Sean: Umm I think he was with his last patient.
Mariska: OK, thanks I'll just go see if I can find him.
(Sean gives her a look as she walks off in search of Chris. She comes around a corner and stops when she hears voices. It sounds like Chris arguing with a woman whose voice is very recognizable.)
Rachel: I don't know how much of this I can take Chris. I love you, I do but I want more of just this, and I miss my family.
Chris: I'm not keeping you here Rachel.
Rachel: Are you serious right now? You are the one who begged me to come with you because promised me life.
Chris: I've never begged you, I just thought we had this one thing in common and that's helping people.
Rachel: Yeah, but that's not who I am anymore Chris. I want to get married, have children, and maybe one day own my own clinic.
(Mariska decides that she's heard enough she takes a deep breath and walks around the corner.)
Mariska: Oh, I'm sorry.
Chris: It's alright Mariska, what can I do for you?
Rachel: Chris we weren't finished.
Chris: We can finish tonight at home I promise.
(Rachel gives her a nasty look before looking back at Chris grabbing his face and kissing him.)
Rachel: Later, I'll see you at home.
Chris: OK, I shouldn't be much longer.
(Rachel eyes Mariska once more before she walks off to pack up and head home. Mariska turns back to Chris as he runs a hand over his face to get rid of the stress.)
Mariska: You're ok?
Chris: Yeah, just dealing with a lot right now.
Mariska: So you and Rachel huh?
Chris: Yeah, been together six years.
Mariska: Look it's none of my business, I was looking for you to give some good news.
Chris: OK.
Mariska: My best friend back home was able to get her father to agree to the medications. He's shipping them tomorrow morning their time on express.
Chris: Oh so that's great.
Mariska: Yeah, we should have them in three days.
(Feeling overwhelmed with excitement he pulls her to him and hugs her tight.)
Chris: You have no idea what this means.
Mariska: (laughs) I think I do.
(He hugs her again just when Rachel comes around the corner. She freezes the same time they do and Mariska pushes away from Chris.)
Rachel: Whats going on?
Chris: Rachel it's nothing, just got some great news.
Mariska: Rachel this isn't what it looks like. I was just sharing some good news about a discussion we had yesterday.
Rachel: Uh huh! And you just had to hug her to what..get your excitement out.
Chris: Yeah, I guess you can say that. Baby, it's really not what you think this is.
Rachel: OK, I was just coming to see what you wanted for dinner.
Chris: Anything is fine with me.
Rachel: OK, see you at home.
(With that she turns and walks away.)
Mariska: I hope I didn't get you in any trouble.
Chris: You did nothing wrong.
Mariska: (nods) Well I must get back before my shift ends. I hope everything works out for both of you.
Chris: Thanks.
(Three weeks go by and so far the last two days have been a bit much for Mariska. She has been bitten, hit, and food thrown at her by a few difficult patients. She was just walking through the doors to start her day and stopped by the break room to get coffee. She was taking in the peaceful moment when Sean and Chris came in and she rolled her eyes.)
Mariska: Morning guys.
Chris: Good morning Mariska, are you ready for today?
Mariska: If it is anything like the last two days I can't wait.
Sean: Hey Mariska, how about after our shift we go out somewhere?
Mariska: I don't know Sean, I have some papers to do before next Monday.
Sean: (give a pout) Come on, just one night out.
Mariska: OK, just tell me a time and place.
Sean: Why don't I pick you up?
Mariska: Ok.
Sean: Great, we can talk more later I need to go tend to my patients.
(He leaves with a big grin on his face as Mariska looks at Chris.)
Chris: (chuckle) I think you have made his day.
Mariska: Hey I might as well get it over with.
(Chris laughs at that before he takes his coffee and exits the room. Mariska finishes her cup before she follows behind him.)
(True to his word Sean catches her right before she is about to leave. He tells her about a small diner not far from his place and they agree on a time. She makes it home to shower and find something comfortable to wear. She's really not into Sean but she could use some air and he seemed desperate to take her out.)
