"Thank you," Mary said, "We brought him to the temple to be blessed."

"Well I would be happy to bless him," Rabbi Issiah said.

"Thank you," Mary replied.

"What day was he born?"

"David was born yesterday," Yasourah said.

Rabbi Issiah took the baby in his arms and blessed him.

"Do you want me to circumcise him," Rabbi Issiah asked.

"No. He'll bleed too much," Yahsourah said.

What do you know, Rabbi Issiah thought to himself.

"I know what my Daddy told me," Yahsourah answered his thoughts, "He can't get cut."

"Your father doesn't know everything," Rabbi Issiah said impatiently.

"Oh yes He does," Yahsourah answered, "He's GOD."

Before Rabbi Issiah could answer the voice of GOD spoke to Rabbi Issiah.

"THIS IS MY BELOVED DAUGHTER. IN HER I AM WELL PLEASED. LISTEN TO HER."

Rabbi Issiah left and found a quiet place in the temple garden to pray."

"Why," he asked quietly.

"WHY WHAT," GOD asked.

"Couldn't you have made Her a boy?"

"I COULD HAVE DONE ANYTHING I WANT. I HAD MY REASONS FOR MAKING HER A GIRL."

"But how can you expect me to honor a girl?"

"I EXPECT YOU TO TREAT MY DAUGHTER WITH RESPECT AS I EXPECT YOU TO TREAT EVERY OTHER PERSON WITH RESPECT."

"Eve sinned," Rabbi Issiah pointed out.

"YOU SIN TOO. I STILL LOVE YOU," GOD reminded him.

Rabbi Issiah was shocked. He never thought of himself as a sinner. He was a holy man. He was a Pharisee as well as a Rabbi.

"I didn't realize that I sin," he said, "But She doesn't?"

"SHE DOES NOT," GOD returned.

"She sat up in the temple," Rabbi Issiah told GOD, "It's against the rules for a girl to sit up front in the temple. They belong-"

"THOSE ARE YOUR RULES. THEY AREN'T MY RULES."

"So you're okay with a girl sitting up front in temple?"

"WHERE IN MY BOOK DOES IT SAY THAT GIRLS AREN'T ALLOWED TO SIT UP FRONT IN TEMPLE. IT DOESN'T SAY THAT."

After that GOD went silent.
