Beacon Academy, the premier Huntsman Academy in Remnant dedicated to the training and education of the future hope of their world. Going to class in the halls of this wonderful school is a dream come true for any aspiring huntsman or huntress.

Still, just like any other place, once you've actually walked through its classrooms five times a week and slept in its dorms for months, you get used to it.

Normally, the monday that follows a weekend of fun is a day of lethargy and monotony for the students of Beacon.

For Yang Xiao Long and her friends, today is not that day! Because last night something world-shattering, mind-blowing, and life-changing happened.

Yang Xiao Long was a woman not prone to speechlessness, but ever since last night? She thinks she could be forgiven for the current state of her mind.

After all, it is not everyday that you see the resident class dork kiss two of the most beautiful women in their year.

It started when Blake Belladonna, her dark, introverted, beautiful mysterious partner locked lips with the clumsy knight Jaune Arc.

'Mmmf'

'Mphwah-!'

Just remembering the sound of it sends blood rushing to her cheeks causing her to blush. The others probably didn't hear it but Yang was right in front of the action.

If that wasn't crazy enough, Pyrrha Nikos, the Pyrrha Nikos also kissed Jaune Arc. Though Yang could honestly say that Pyrrha kissing Jaune wasn't a surprise.

After all, the Spartan's crush for the blonde knight was their friend group's worst-kept secret with Jaune being the only one oblivious to it. So there wasn't any real surprise for her on that account.

The crazy came into existence when Blake and Pyrrha kissed the same man within seconds of each other without getting into a catfight. (Heh, catfight.)

Suffice to say Yang Xiao Long is still shocked into both speechlessness and profanity because really? What the fuck has just happened to the world? Nothing made sense anymore.

Weiss might have been satisfied with not talking about it and just skipping right towards her own speech but Yang wasn't. She needed answers.

Yang needed answers like a man needed water in the desert of Vacuo.

Which leads them to their current situation. The interrogation of two persons of interest in the middle of the dining hall during breakfast.

While the location isn't something she would've chosen to interrogate their friends regarding the juicy details of their relationships, this is actually the first time they've had time together since the faculty spoke to each of them last night.

And the sooner they actually get to talk about this, the sooner Yang could put her mind to rest. They were even arranged perfectly for an interrogation with Weiss, Ruby, Yang, and Nora sitting on one side while facing Pyrrha and Blake on the other.

"Sooo…Jaune, huh?" Yang tentatively calls out, trying to ease the two into confessing willingly..

"Hmmm? Oh, he's out training his Semblance with Ren." Pyrrha answers with a smile right in front of her like there is nothing wrong in the world.

The answer actually causes both Ruby and Yang to groan while Weiss and Nora remain unaffected.

With the only two boys missing in their friend group, Yang thought that this would be the perfect time for all the girls to finally get to the bottom of things. Though it seems like Yang thought wrong.

With Weiss trying to look uninterested in their current state of fairs and Nora just kinda grinning there menacingly, it falls to Yang and Ruby to broach the topic.

Yet with Ruby biting her nails in awkwardness, Yang realizes that it really is up to her to finally get some answers.

Turning to her partner, Yang Xiao Long employs tried and true methods that have always worked for her.

"Alright, Blake. Spill. What? How? And Why?" Yang blurts out to a surprisingly moody Blake.

Direct and straight to the point. That is Yang Xiao Long's way and it has never steered her wrong so far.

"What? I thought I already explained about the White Fa-!" Yet it seems like Blake fails to grasp the meaning as she begins to talk about the White Fang, only to be interrupted by an unlikely source.

"Not that! You know what this is about!" Ruby Rose slams her hands on the table which actually causes Blake to snap out of her very unusual moodiness.

Ruby's reaction was so loud that it caused people from other tables to actually look at them.

Feeling the eyes of the people on her, Ruby promptly groans apologetically and in embarrassment.

Yang has never seen Ruby this aggressive when not thinking about weapons or cookies but she'd take it if it means getting the answers they need.

To Blake's credit, her only visible reaction is the widening of her eyes and straightening her back. The same can't be said for others in their table though.

"Ugh! Do we really need to talk about this?" Weiss groans out in disgust.

"""YES!""" Yang, Ruby, and Nora shout at the same time.

While Nora is probably just doing this to add to the general chaos, Yang doesn't know why exactly Ruby is being passionate about this but she could only hope that it's the same reason as hers. Curiosity.

"Ugh..Fine. Have at it then." Weiss waves dismissively but try as she might, she can't hide her interest from Yang Xiao Long.

After all, if Weiss really didn't want to talk about this, she would've forced them to change topics. The fact that she let them continue belies her true intentions of also getting to the bottom of this.

That actually makes Pyrrha and Blake start to blush, it seems it's just finally registering to them just what the hell their topic is about.

Though Yang doesn't know why the hell would they think about other topics first when it's blatantly obvious that what they did last night was bothering all of their friends.

With all of them finally on the same page, the four interrogators stare pointedly at the two persons of interests.

"I..uhh..thought he was gonna die. It was adrenaline. That's all it was, I swear." Blake breaks first, stammering out the first excuse she could think of.

Even a child could see how bullshit that explanation was. Though Ruby and Yang just looked at Blake flatly, their last member has a much more passionate reaction, revealing her vested interest in the matter.

"Don't give us that! You and Pyrrha did this weird thing where she accepted you into… into… into something!" Weiss snaps, narrowing her eyes at Blake.

That gets everyone on the table except Blake and Pyrrha to nod at Weiss' words, referring to the words "welcome to the family" Pyrrha said last night.

"He must've done something with his Semblance! That's the only logical explanation." Weiss finishes biting her nail to express her frustration.

Looking back at it now, it really was a strange turn of events.

Yang could believe that Jaune could get Pyrrha because the girl hasn't really been making it a secret that she has the hots for him.

But Jaune getting Blake too?! Her dark, beautiful, and mysterious partner Blake? Before last night, Yang would've laughed at the person who would think of such a thing before promptly punching them in the face.

But right now? Yang thinks to herself that maybe Weiss wasn't really entirely wrong.

As expected though, Pyrrha takes offense at Weiss' words and comes to Jaune's defense.

"Weiss! How could you say that?! Just because you never saw Jaune's good points does not mean you could insinuate that he would do something so despicable when other women fall for him." Pyrrha says indignantly, causing Blake to blush even more at the implication that she is indeed falling for Jaune Arc.

"How could I not think like that, Pyrrha? I could understand that you might see something redeemable from him since you're partners, but Blake's from our team. Up until last week, I don't think they even exchanged words between the two of them." Weiss counters calmly, raising her hands to placate the Spartan and then looking at Blake.

That actually gets all of them to look at Yang's partner once again. It really is strange to see them go from almost strangers to suddenly locking lips after the heat of battle in the span of a few days.

"I..that's…it wasn't the Semblance." Blake blushes before finally being able to get out a coherent sentence.

At Blake's words, all of them look up at her expectantly. This is the first time that they are finally getting the truth from the cat's mouth.

Feeling all eyes on her, Blake freezes up at all the attention. Everyone knows that Blake isn't the talkative type in their friend group and usually they'd be happy to leave her alone to read her books but this time is different.

This time they needed answers.

Weiss narrows her eyes at Blake, trying to discern any deceit or aftereffects of a strange Semblance used by the Arc.

Ruby smiles awkwardly at Blake, wanting to help her but also wants to know what is up with Blake and Ruby's bestie.

Yang herself just looks Blake expectantly, smiling with teeth at the notion of finally getting answers that's been plaguing her mind and getting some teasing material on Blake. She's got nothing on Nora though.

If Yang was smiling with teeth, then Nora was grinning like a Beowulf that just got a snack.

As morbid as it sounds, Nora looks like she's ready to tease Blake into oblivion by the way she's slightly vibrating on her seat. As if she's been thinking about this longer and more intensely than Yang was.

Huh, who knew Yang would find a similar teasing buddy with Nora.

Yang sees Blake look to Pyrrha for help but even Pyrrha is smiling at Blake supportively, willing her to speak up about their mutual boyfriend? Crush? Whatever the hell Jaune is to the two of them.

"It wasn't his Semblance….It was…just entirely him." Blake groans out with a blush which causes all the girls to raise their eyebrows except for Pyrrha who is beaming at Blake.

"Ooohhhh, was it the muscles? We've been working out recently and I've noticed that fearless leader's been getting those guns." Nora grins at Blake as if she knows something not all of them are privy to.

"N-no. It wasn't the muscles." Blake answers with a blush, looking away from Nora's teasing grin.

"Let me guess, he accepted you as yourself and treated you normally?" Pyrrha comforts Blake with a smile to which Yang's partner only groans back.

That reaction actually manages to make Yang's eye twitch in an unexpected bout of annoyance.

"What's the big deal with that? We treat you normally too but you're not in love with any of us." Yang says confusedly and for some strange reason a part of her is hurt at the thought of treating Blake normally is all it took to make her partner fall in love with someone.

"It's not love…not yet..maybe….I don't know." Blake continues with a sigh.

"Okayyy, confused feelings aside. What else is there? Surely there's something more to VB other than treating you normally." Yang asks, getting Pyrrha to actually raise an eyebrow at her.

What?! Chill, P-money. Can't a girl be curious?

"Well…when I told him about my past with the White Fang…he didn't just accept me..He immediately offered to help. Not just with the docks but with the Faunus issues in general." Blake finishes, finally getting some control to fight down her blush now that she's busy thinking about the past few days.

"He's kind." Pyrrha adds with a smile.

"He's brave." Blake continues with a nod.

"Always willing to help."

"And he almost died for me."

Wow. Talk about a mood killer, partner.

That unexpected remark successfully blows away any levity in their discussion and causes everyone to frown at the reminder that last night wasn't all fun and games.

"Have you ever had someone go to such lengths for you and not expect anything in return? That gave him a lot of points in the friendship department." Blake says wryly.

"Friends don't just kiss each other out of nowhere though." Yang adds, wishing to move on from the grim topic and back into something lighter.

"Well, when I saw him leaning in front of me I was so relieved that I just did the first thing that came to mind. So yes, you can chalk it up to adrenaline."

Yang isn't really satisfied with that answer but she can't think of anything else to ask to get to the bottom of it. Luckily, she's not the only one interested in this. In a rare bout of social aptitude, Ruby questions Blake on something very important.

"So…What are you and Jaune, then? And what about you, Pyrrha? You kissed Jaune too." Ruby asks with a curious tilt of her head and a small pout on her lips.

While Blake hesitates on that question, Pyrrha picks up the slack and leans forward to answer them quietly.

"Well, this is something we don't want the public to know for now….." Pyrrha starts with a smile, successfully getting everyone's attention and making them lean forward in interest.

"But Jaune and I are dating now." She finishes with a smile and a small blush.

"WHAT?!" Weiss cries out in shock as both Ruby and Yang are left speechless and Nora cackles at Pyrrha's announcement. Yang knows that they surely have a relationship but it's different to see your friends kiss than to have it said out loud that they really are dating.

"SSHH! Quiet…..We were hoping you could help us keep it secret." Pyrrha hastily replies as she suddenly stands up and leans forward to cover Weiss' mouth with her hands.

Pyrrha's words actually make Weiss look apologetic as Yang notices the people around them look at the commotion in curiosity.

"Sorry…I'm sure you could understand my shock." Weiss apologizes with a wince once Pyrrha took her hands away from her mouth.

Talk about an understatement, if Yang had a guy pursuing her who's suddenly dating another woman she thinks she'd just be more than shocked even if Yang didn't like the guy like in Weiss' case with Jaune.

Wanting to move away from that other potential source of drama, Yang turns back to her partner once the attention on them has died down once again.

"What about Blake though? Are you okay with the two of them kissing, Pyrrha?" Yang asks lowly, wanting to see if there's gonna be trouble on that side of the relationship.

"Well….It is thanks to Blake that Jaune and I managed to confess to each other so I don't mind." Pyrrha answers, looking at Blake with a blush who also glows red at Pyrrha's words.

Yang could see from their reaction that whatever the hell Blake did to help Jaune and Pyrrha it did more than just get the spartan and the knight together.

Still, that's a problem for another time. Yang has one last thing she has to know.

"So what about you, Blake? What's your relationship with Jaune now?" Yang asks, wanting to know if the blonde dork actually managed to get himself two beautiful girlfriends at the same time.

"I…uhm..I don't know. We're friends, I guess." Blake answers with a shrug and a light blush.

Unsurprisingly, no one is really satisfied by that answer. Surprisingly though, an answer comes not from Blake but from Pyrrha.

"Well, whatever their relationship will be, it would be up to her and Jaune."

Before any of them can think deeper on that though, an unexpected voice greets them.

"What will be up to who and me?" Jaune asks as he and Ren approach their table carrying their breakfast

""""Jaune!""""

"Hmmm? Yeah? What's up? So what was up to me again?" As he looks at their pale faces and wide eyes.

"I…uhhh…I was saying it would be up to you and Ren when you will finish your training." Pyrrha answers, saving the lot of them from explaining their topic of conversation.

"Oh! Yeah, sorry for running late. We were training my Semblance." Jaune answers as he looks at them strangely.

There's a pause in their conversation after that, each group looking at each other strangely before the silence is broken by Ren moving to sit in front of Nora.

That actually gets them to notice that they are still sitting the way they were before. Which promptly makes Pyrrha adjust herself to make some space between her and Blake.

"Here, Jaune. Sit here." Pyrrha smiles at him.

"...Okay." Jaune says softly with a blush, realizing that he's going to sit in between his two beaus who are also blushing now.

That reaction just makes their strange relationship obvious to Yang. With all of them falling silent at the knight's arrival it takes a moment before conversation picks up again. Conversation started by an unexpected source.

"So…how was your training?" Blake Belladonna, Yang's introverted partner starts the conversation.

If Yang wasn't busy still being amazed by the sight, she would've been proud of Blake breaking out of her introverted shell. As it is, all she could do is stare in wonder as Jaune launches into his story of how he and Ren trained his Semblance.

Looking at her friends interacting with each other, Yang thinks to herself. That while she did get some answers from their earlier conversation, she isn't really satisfied just yet. She'll have to get more answers later from Blake when they're alone.

Unbeknownst to her, she isn't the only one unsatisfied. Ruby Rose looks on with a pout before returning to her breakfast.

Blake Belladonna had a type. Dark, brooding, dangerous, and fighting for a cause larger than one's self. Traits that she saw in Adam that made him attractive to her or perhaps she saw them in Adam first that's why those traits became attractive to her.

At first glance, Jaune Arc had none of those things and therefore shouldn't be desirable for Blake. But Blake Belladonna spent a weekend with the guy.

Short as that time was, it was enough to let her know that there are surprising depths to Jaune Arc. Depths that make him better than what she thought her type was.

Kind, loyal, brave, and willing to go beyond to help his friends. And it's not as if Jaune is all sunshines and rainbows as well. There's a bit of a darker side to him not in terms of his personality but on what he could and is willing to do to get what he wants.

He knows an information broker who also forged his transcripts to Beacon just so he could be a Huntsman. He could negotiate with criminals not just for information but also to keep secrets. He's also already improving greatly in terms of combat abilities. If that doesn't show Blake that Jaune was growing to be someone impressive then she doesn't know what will.

While she can't say that she's completely falling in love with him right now, she definitely cares for him and deeply appreciates his friendship.

Walking beside him and Pyrrha towards class right now, Blake could honestly admit to herself that she really can enjoy his company even outside of stressful missions like looking for the White Fang.

He's not overbearing or obsessed with any one thing like Adam was. He's passionate, open, and wears his heart on his sleeve. He might not be strong right now but Blake could already see him improving at a very fast pace.

If Blake really had to compare him to Adam then she'd say that Adam was like a fire that is ready to consume you with his fury even while it simmers when not in battle. In contrast, Jaune was like the sun ready to warm and brighten you up even at a cost to himself.

Cost….The thought brings back memories of last night. Of Jaune lying on the ground about to have his head smashed. While the memory of that thought brings a frown to Blake's face, the memory of the kiss that follows warms her face up.

It wasn't like the kisses with Adam filled with lust and passion born of the heat of battle. Or the soft almost clinical kisses she shared with Jaune before to teach him.

The kiss last night was filled with worry, reassurance, comfort, and affection. It wasn't slow but it wasn't fast either. It was just right to bring her relief that they were both alive and well.

Though she would like nothing more than to focus on that particular moment, she needs to remember that the only reason Jaune's life was ever in danger was because of her. That realization cools Blake's head down as she starts to remember a conversation she had last night.

"Well, this has certainly been an eventful evening." Headmaster Ozpin greets her as he enters the room she is currently occupying. A room somewhat similar to an interrogation chamber.

"I'm sure that after a night of thwarting smuggling operations, you probably just want to go home and take a nap. But I was hoping maybe we could have a chance to talk." The Headmaster continues as Blake stays silent.

"Well, I'll do the talking then. As you know, in order to enroll at my school, students must first pass a difficult entrance exam. Most applicants spend years of training at one of the many combat schools around the world. You are one of the few that did not. And you passed the exam with flying colors." Headmaster Ozpin finishes flatly, taking a sip of his coffee at the end.

Thinking to herself that it would be better to just humor the Headmaster, Blake throws out the most obvious explanation she can give without saying that she had experience fighting for the White Fang.

"I was raised outside the kingdoms. If you can't fight, you can't survive."

"Well, you have most certainly survived, Blake. I admire your drive. I am proud to run a school that accepts individuals from all walks of life. Rich, poor, Human…Faunus."

Blake clenches her hand and remains silent as the Headmaster finishes his remark. As for Ozpin, he only sighs at Blake's silence. It's not something he'd call defiance but more of a self-defense mechanism.

"Why do you wear that bow, Blake? Why hide who you are?

"With all due respect Headmaster, you may be willing to accept the Faunus, but your species is not."

"That didn't seem to be the case for your friends. Your own team and even Team JNPR came to your help when you needed it."

"That….They are exceptions."

" are exceptional aren't they. Especially Mr. Arc, I doubt he would risk his life for you if he didn't accept you for who you are."

That actually made Blake flinch. She doesn't need it pointed out to her that she's the reason why Jaune was in danger in the first place. Instead of reacting though, she settles for keeping silent and biting her lip in frustration.

"It is not my intention to shame you, Blake. In fact, I really do want to help you. You may not want to believe this but we are continuing strides to lessen the divide between Humans and Faunus." Ozpin continues, seeing as Blake does not want to reply to his previous observation.

"With all due respect, Headmaster, you need to start taking some larger strides. Until then, I'd rather avoid any unnecessary attention. I want people to see me for who I am, not what I am." Blake finally replies once they are back to a more familiar topic. Racial issues.

"Then perhaps you could help with that."

"What do you mean?"

"While we here in Beacon tend to let students tackle their problems on their own, we still have the duty to take note of issues that plague our students. I have noticed that you tend to isolate yourself from your friends. You would rather run away than face any confrontation with them."

That observation surprises Blake, while she won't say that they are neglectful, the staff really do tend to take hands off approach when it comes to students and their problems as seen in Velvet Scarlatina's case with bullying.

So to hear the headmaster himself point out her flaws and willingly offer any advice is strange. In response, Blake just tilts her head, signifying that she is listening.

"May I suggest you start opening up to your friends first? Don't run away from confrontations with your friends. Let them really know who you are as the other students slowly get to know you more before revealing your Faunus heritage. Why, I dare say you could even enlist the help of those close to you in tackling Faunus issues in the future." Ozpin says knowingly with a tilt of his glasses.

"I…I'll think about it." Is all Blake could say as she remembers that both Jaune and Pyrrha have already offered to help her, though she doesn't need to tell the headmaster that.

"See that you do, now is there anything else you want to tell me? About the White Fang perhaps?"

"I….I don't know what you're asking me." Blake asks quizzically with a tilt of her head.

"How did you know the White Fang would be at the docks tonight?"

Jaune's information broker told me. You know, the same one who forged his transcripts to get into Beacon. She thinks to herself but she would hardly expose Jaune like that so instead, she takes a page out of Jaune's book.

"I didn't. We just happened to be at the right place at the right time." Blake lies, like the liar she is.

"Hmmm. I'm sure you were." Ozpin remarks flatly, not really believing her answer.

"We were." Blake affirms.

The two stare at each other in silence after that, willing the other to crack first. Seeing that his student no longer wishes to talk about this, Ozpin breaks the staredown.

"Very well. Thank you for your time, Ms. Belladonna."

The headmaster stands up and heads to the door. Before Blake could breathe a sigh of relief though, he stops and stares back at her.

"If you ever need to talk to me. Please, don't hesitate to ask."

With that last word, Ozpin leaves with the door open for her.

With Professor Ozpin's words still ringing in her head, Blake enters the classroom together with her friends right after breakfast. As thankful as she was for the Professor's offer, Blake did promise something.

"Blake, you okay?" Her partner, Yang Xiao Long, asks when she notices Blake is deep in thought.

That's right. She promised to talk to her team first before other people. Turning to look at Yang, Blake gives her a small smile and answers.

"Yeah, just thinking about something."

"Would it be something about you know who?" Yang asks with a raised eyebrow.

"Huh?" That actually confused Blake. She doesn't have a faintest clue what the hell Yang is suddenly talking about.

"You know? Him?" It takes Yang pointing her eyes in a certain direction for her to get it.

To her shame, it takes a bit of a long moment for Blake to realize Yang was talking about Jaune.

"Ahh….that…yeah." She answers softy.

Looking at Jaune and Pyrrha seated in front of her, Blake realizes that before thinking about the White Fang she has to resolve this thing with Jaune and Pyrrha first.

Even if both her and Jaune are happy to follow Pyrrha's lead in accepting this strange new relationship, Blake still has to resolve her own feelings on the matter.

She does like Jaune but she doesn't think she's in love with him just yet. The last time she fell in love it almost ended in a trainwreck, literally. This time, Blake resolves that if she does fall in love she'd do her best not to let it end like last time.

She knows she isn't really acting herself recently, this emotional lovey-dovey stuff isn't her cup of tea. After Adam, she was content with just living vicariously through her books. But now that she's tangled herself with both Jaune and Pyrrha, she doesn't know how to really act anymore.

But hey, it's not like she has to do this alone. Professor Ozpin did say that she has to open up to her friends first and not run away from them. With that advice in mind, she turns back to her partner. If there's ever anyone who has the right background on normal relationships that could give Blake sound advice, it would probably be her partner.

"We need to talk." Blake says as Professor Port enters the room.

"About what?" Yang replies with a raised eyebrow.

In lieu of a verbal reply, Blake just motions her head to the front. Towards Jaune and Pyrrha. Yang's reaction after realizing that sends shivers down her spine.

"Don't worry kit-kat, Mama's got what you need."

….Ah…Damn, maybe it's not too late to run away?

Something on her face must have clued Yang in to what she's thinking because her partner just laughs at her, gathering everyone's attention to the two of them.

Seeing Jaune turn to them in confusion at the sudden commotion, Blake just gives him a reassuring smile. It is a pleasant surprise to her that seeing him smile back blows away any doubts she has in her current plan of action.
