One World: Many Souls

Chapter 52: Worries Realized

Third Person Point of View:

Enya watched on as the girls seemed to be enjoying themselves in the recording booth, working hard at a song they'd prepared together with their wonderful aunt teaching them. Frisk may have never been much of a singer, but she knew music, she knew chords knew how to tune them. Working together with the twins when she had a free chance, the girls were always musically involved and trying new genres if able.

Careful practice and pose showed as they sang their hearts out, but knew how to match each other and the music played by the band behind them in the studio. It was a set of teens slightly older than them. Just on the cusp of turning into adults. Enya watched as the two in the midst of their song showed their true personalities.

Calibri was the more social of the two, even if she did stick to her twin's side like glue, she would be more willing and open to try new things. It was often her lead that her younger twin followed. The opposite could be said about Constantina. She was the follower and more content to be on her own or away from crowds.

They made sure in their own ways to allow themselves space to grow separate, but together as the pair they were. Enya had watched on for years as their parents did all they could to keep things fair for not only just them, but their other four siblings as well. This was just the rare opportunity that had come across. Enya wasn't sure yet what the other children would be getting in place of not being able to see their sisters' shine.

It also didn't help that the girls were learning other languages of the olden times. Apparently, the girls had also been asking their father to learn the old skeleton language of cypher that hadn't been spoken in decades, and used it in pieces of their songs. That was something special that only they could do along with their siblings, or anyone else who had skeleton in their blood. Others could learn it, but it was their literal magic talking, sounding as if it was almost like a sound a computer would make when it was processing or updating. It startled Enya the first time she heard it.

But that unique feature was what drew people to them beyond that of their singing skill at their young age of thirteen. It was their ability to stand out with that skill they'd developed.

Enya saw as the song was finishing that the girls struggled not to jump for joy as they stood in the booth. The music dying away and the instruments settling down. The older teens were the exact opposite as they congratulating the girls on a job well done.

Enya was brought back to reality as she stood there with the very male that made this all possible. Mr. Wher stood proud at the scene before him. Only moments later as his tail tapped the side of Enya's hand to get her attention quietly did she finally look at the male. He looked rather different from when she'd seen him last. During one of the earliest birthday parties Angel had as her first set of twins were born was the last she'd seen him in person and only pictures on occasion as the two kept in contact. He'd filled out, no longer such a scrawny young adult who was living on the cusp of reality. His face was rather calm and experience shown on him as he stood there with the attending woman.

"They were great. I'm glad they decided to come, and that Angel let them."

"The Mistress was certainly hesitant, especially after the escape of Lucas Madden."

"I can't blame her on that one." The twitch to reach for something seemed to be in his hands. Instead he reached for a ball in his pocket and squeezed it between his fingers. "That was pretty terrifying, I can only imagine how they're doing after that stunt. Say, how is Frisk anyway? She holding up okay?"

"Her highness is holding up well, focusing on the young princesses and prince to keep herself preoccupied." Enya revealed quietly. "The king has kept her close to make sure nothing takes place. But things have changed for her highness. The queen has done her best to not let past fears keep her down and continues with her work. Only that night in question was when she remained at her castle."

"That's fair. And good. That asshole was terrible to her. But I've seen her grow and do so much for our people." Wher blinked slowly down at the object in his hand before looking back up at the bubbly children. "When you see her next, will you tell her that it's good to see her happy? And thanks for all she's done for us?"

Enya nodded. "I will certainly pass the message onto her highness when I have the ability to. Once I make sure that young Calibri and Constantina are safely home."

"Yeah, you do that." Kicking himself off the wall, Wher put the stress ball back into his pants pocket. "I'm gonna wish the kids goodnight. I'll see you tomorrow then?"

"That is the plan, should everything go according to schedule."

"Kay then, night."

Wher made his way over to the children of his good friend and spoke words of encouragement to them and the band. He also offered them some critique for them to work on should they decide to continue on the path their on. With bright grins on their faces, the girls wished goodnight to the young men who worked with them and returned to the side of their chaperone.

"Enya! Enya! Did we do good? Did we do good?"

The girls always talked together, always matching their sentences. Often as if they were one person, split between two bodies. It often astounded Enya that they were actually two people, but she knew better. The older woman smiled and placed a hand on each of their heads in what little affection she felt entitled to give them for their achievements.

"You two did wonderfully." Smiling at the two of them, she stood back up while the beaming smiles could not be wiped from their faces. "I've asked the studio to send home a copy to your parents once it's been edited and you see the final product tomorrow morning after cleaning it up. The producer was quite pleased and seems to think it will be on the radio shortly. What do you two think of that?"

Both girls gave me quite the dumbfounded look, their excitement lost for moments before the gleaming in their eyes returned. "So soon?!"

"Really?! It's gonna happen that quick?"

"Will Mom and Dad be proud of us?"

"Of course they will. I know they already are, and I'm sure they're eager to listen to your music once we go home." Patting their shoulders, Enya attempted to move them toward the entryway to the outside of the building. "Now, we need to get you girls a good meal. You were given a couple songs to practice a little bit before bed and then I'm sure your parents would love to hear how your day went."

"Yeah! Can we call Mom? Oh! And Aunt Frisk too!"

"Yeah, she was so excited to hear we were gonna record music and was bummed she couldn't join us."

"Of course, girls." Enya was about to say something else when her phone went off. She carefully looked at it to see a message displayed. Blinking at it, Enya returned it to her pocket and smiled at the girls.

"Well now, apparently there's a surprise for you two back at the hotel. Your mother sent it for you."
"A surprise? What surprise?" Both girls looked between each other before facing back toward the older woman with confused faces.

"Let's find out, shall we? It's waiting for us in the dining room at the restaurant."

"Really!?" Both girls reached for the older woman's hands and began to pull her along. "Come on, Enya! Come on!"

The older woman allowed herself to be pulled along by the girls. The three of them followed the same way they entered the building and the path that led back to the hotel only a couple blocks away. It was actually in sight of the recording studio. Rather fancy looking, sparkly, and showing a rich beachy vibe for those who entered their doors, the twins always wore excited looks every time they went in and out of the building. They'd never been somewhere so coastal.

Once inside, the girls dove toward the restaurant, forgetting to stop by the greeter at the entrance. Enya gave an apology, saying the name of the family before the male nodded and allowed them inside, telling her quickly to go to the far right by the windows. Enya was able to direct the girls in that direction before seeing who it was waiting for them. Sitting in a relaxed dress with a light jacket to combat the breeze of the ocean, an older woman sat there with white hair braided and pulled back into a bun on the back of her head. Glasses over her nose while she was reading at a book before looking up at the commotion.

"Why hello there my great-granddaughters."
"GG!" The girls darted from Enya's hands to join with their great-grandmother who sat at a rounded table, her back to the window to give her light to read comfortably. "GG! GG! GG! GG!"

"Did you come here to see us sing?!"

"We did really good today and got a song recorded!"

"It's gonna be ready tomorrow! We can listen to it on the way home, right?"

"But of course we can, my sweet great-grandbabies." Victoria Terians gave them a sweet smile as she sat there among the younger of her granddaughter's children. "I'm so glad I get to spend part of my vacation with you. We'll be driving together so we can listen to any songs you made, and you two can show me your skills. And soon, I hope to do that more often. I'll be on permanent vacation forever soon."

"Really?!" The girls beamed, looking at the great-grandmother in awe. "When!?"

"Starting in the next year, I'm going to retire from being Head of Houses. I'm going to be eighty five soon. I think I've done a lot for our land and the other countries. I'm ready to spend time with your mother and father, and see you kids grow up and be happy. And especially see you and your siblings and cousins grow up to do what you love!"

It was clear to Enya as she joined the three who sat there that Victoria was certainly being overly sweet to her great-grandchildren. But it was certainly understandable why. Two decades ago, she never would have thought she'd would have seen them. And then, to have seven great-grandchildren, some of which were almost ready to leave their nest and begin their own lives, Victoria certainly wanted to be a part of that before she became too old for anything, or before she ran herself into the ground to death.

But Enya knew there was another reason where the elderly woman was there besides her great-granddaughters. One that the older woman did her best to keep her emotions at bay. Enya couldn't resist looking back to the text she'd received earlier with the order to bring the girls back to the hotel.

Bring Calibri and Constantina back to the hotel. I will meet you at the restaurant. The situation has changed slightly. I have already made Angel and Sans aware. We will deal with it once the girls have gone to bed.

Later That Evening:

"Now make sure you two get lots of rest, my dead great-grandbabies." Victoria and Enya had tucked the tired girls into bed while they both wore smiles still on their faces as they struggled to listen to their great-grandmother. "We have another long day of singing and work to be done, and I'm eager to watch you work tomorrow. So rest well, so we can have fun at breakfast. And don't forget to bring the card deck so we can play together, alright?"

"Yes, GG."

"Good, I love you girls. Have a good night."

Victoria carefully closed the door behind her to the room the girls would sleep in. Outside of it stood Victor, Victoria's personal butler still there at the ripe age of eighty.

"Stay with them."

The order was soft, but Victor heard it. Standing guard with a few other people outside the room along with a few other personnel down the hallway, Victoria moved herself over to another room with Enya following closely behind. A couple of hotel staff were outside the room Victoria stopped herself before and the older woman narrowed her eyes.

"Open it."

Quickly, the order was carried out and the door opened for her. Inside was a normal looking room other than two men who were dressed in hotel attire of cleaning staff that laid stiffly on the bed, eyes open and staring at the ceiling. Their bodies were cold to the touch and weren't moving.

It was easy for Enya to see that they were dead.

"I have to hand it to my granddaughter." Victoria sighed as she entered the room, sitting angrily in the chair across from the bed that held the bodies. "It would have petrified me to send out my children when there was a chance of someone taking their lives. And she was lucky that I was able to come with the twins. At least they won't know about this."

Enya sighed, holding onto the internal worry she'd been holding back for hours. "How did you find them, Mistress Victoria?"

"They made themselves all nice and comfy in my great-grandbabies room. They were waiting for an ambush. Took to stashing themselves and items under the beds in wait." A heated breath left Victoria while she kept her eyes on the bodies. "I was thankful that no one knew I was coming as well, or they may have gotten away with harming or taking the girls. Angel was right to think that something is going on in the background. It's very possible that Lucas Madden, who escaped over six months ago, has gathered a team to take revenge against our family. Or someone else who never agreed with the way we do things. The Terians family still has enemies, even if we do treat our people as fairly as we can."

"Of course, Mistress." Enya nodded to her. The younger woman then turned her head to the hotel staff who looked nervously on at the scene. "Do either of these men work for your company? Do we have any forms of identification?"

"Yes... but they had nothing on them." The manager was a male who tried to keep the bodies out of his field of vision while talking to Enya. "They were just basic workers in the kitchen. They've worked for us for about… two years. We can only assume they somehow stole uniforms from other staff members and snuck in. I don't know how they got the master key card, that's kept only by managers like myself, and I still have mine. One can be made at the front desk, but you need at least three pass codes to make it, including my own and two others to record this action on the computer. There's no record of this happening at all."

"What this does tell us is that this was premeditated and planned." Victoria's arms crossed while she attempted not to glare at the innocent people. "Those men, they killed themselves when I captured them. I planned to interrogate them for information, but they were prepared. They didn't want to be tracked back to someone. Poison took their lives that was prepared in an armband over an artery vein to make it move fast. There was no chance to stop them."

Enya felt for the first time in her life that she was very nervous. She'd never run into this issue in the near twenty years she'd worked for her mistress and master. Things were about to become crazy as the time passed with this issue going on. And she wasn't sure how her mistress was going to take it.

Enya also felt incredible guilt for not being able to predict the situation and knowing that they needed to be more careful in keeping the young ladies safe. She was horribly envious of having no magic to protect them compared to others.

"How do you wish to process, Mistress Victoria?"

"We will continue on this trip for the girls and I will be with them and you. And do not think of this being your fault. You do not have magic like myself to sense these horrid lowlifes. You did well keeping their spirits high and safe. I will stay with you to keep their spirits high and see if I can sense anything or anyone else who tries to come after them. We will finish this trip and then plan with Angel once we get home."

Enya nodded slowly, understanding the wisdom she was given by that of the eldest Terians.

"For now, the bodies of these men will be sent off to the Terians' mansion to have an autopsy and study done on them to discover whatever we can about them. Angel will want that information, and then we can plan for the future. This won't be the last time our family is attacked." Victoria turned back to the direct attendant to her granddaughter. "Go back with the twins, Enya. Stay with them and I will join you for sleep soon. And make sure to keep your emotions in check. Those girls have the same magic as I do. It is possible they could know something is going on if we're not careful."

"Yes, Mistress Victoria."

Third Person Point of View:

"It would see that your plan failed, Mettaton."

"It would seem so, sorry about that darling." Mettaton sighed at the lack of getting anywhere in their mission after finding out from one of her supporters watching that the men had died. It seemed that Victoria Terians herself had decided to join her little great grandbabies to keep them safe during their time away from home. "I had estimated the possibilities of the eldest of them showing up, but it seemed rather low at the time. Quite a pity, but at least nothing was lost. I know that the men will be investigated and we have already prepared suicide notes to correspond to the issue in mind. I'll make sure to wipe this under the rug."

"See that you do." The woman of the branch family didn't even look at Mettaton while she continued to work in her office. "We can't afford any slip ups in this early of the game."

"Of course! I perfectly understand, darling." Almost what could be described as a bright smile on her face appeared. "If anything darling, it did give a light distraction while finding the perfect male to assist with our doctor's research below. I've found a rather incredibly muscled man that I was able to lead back to the compound in my ghost form for Luke to take possession of. Would you like to see him and verify for yourself?"

Pausing in her work, Silke looked up for the first time since Mettaton came into her office. The human woman could feel the male standing outside her door with Luke in tow for any orders needed. The muscles on him were quite elaborate, it would seem that human was quite the muscle builder before being brought there.

"No." Her response was curt and cold as ice. "What I do want is results. I can tell he has muscles, but I need to know if they are true or for show. Have him do manual labor around the property to prove that he's strong enough to handle what you're going to put him in. And make sure to evaluate them before bringing them here. I won't be able to cover too many dead bodies coming on my estate if there has been a screw up and you can't release them back into society."

"But of course, Silke darling!" Mettaton giggled at the words, despite how cold and calloused they were. "Both Luke and I were careful to watch his normal habits and see himself doing strong lifting and physical activities before he came here, but we'll bring him out to the yard so you can see for proof. Do watch from the window if you have a moment, darling."

Mettaton rose from the chair she sat in before the desk and strutted out of the office. Once the doors were closed and she took the two males away with her, Silke sighed. She rose from her office chair to look outside the window into the ocean area of the back of the home. A small garden space was there that she was sure would be their battle ground to prove what that human male could do. Surrounded by that of the docks and the ocean, she carefully watched. She needed to make sure of those results for herself.

Moments later, a knock came to her door just as she saw the three in mind at the base of her window in the courtyard. "My lady... a report from Dr. Baldeth for you."

"Thank you, leave it on my desk."

"Of course, my lady." She could hear the papers set upon her desk before her servant left just as quickly as they'd come. Silke took a moment to reach back and grab the report and look it over while the fool was being prepared down below.

"Hm..." Skimming the report for the more important details, Silke noticed that there had been another mother pulled from society to add to their collection. The first mother had already given birth to her multiple rabbit children and the mother with the siren child was due any day then. This new mother was about three months along with what appeared to be a spider child. Already the many arms and legs could be seen from inside the womb that the doctor had taken a picture of. Silke looked at the crazy creature as he grew.

Already having three types of children to be used against that of the Terians family. An army of half monster, half human children would be powerful. No different then having a house member fighting at her side. Eventually, they would have enough. But this was a long-term plan with many other stages involved. Silke knew she had to keep her temper, and be patient.

A trait that she had no choice but to learn to live with.

Witch's Note:

(Following the single hour Chaos asked for in preparation for his journey, Halloween assisted with bringing him to the surface. Upon arriving there with the sub, multiple things happened at once. First, from around a path hidden by lovely oak trees that came down nearly to the ground, Shady burst through the brush running toward the visible sub where Chaos had just stepped off of.)

(In the same second, a flash of both green light and shadows flashed only ten feet from the sub to show Shadow assisting both Mystic Boy and Sunset who were brought back from the distant desert. While the wounds had been cared for, it was easy to see through the wrapping that some wounds were aggravated by the travel and began bleeding once more. Slowly, but surely.)

(Halloween watched on the monitor, making sure Chaos had a safe send off before she saw all that happened. Pulling out a microphone that spoke to the sub, all parties could hear her voice seconds later.)

Halloween Witch: Get her to the sub! We'll have medical staff on standby! All of you! Hurry!

(At her command, the three men carefully picked up the women to bring into the sub. Halloween began the descent down into the underwater base once more as rapidly as she could while shouting at her best friend.)

Halloween Witch: MYSTIC! Drop every-fucking-thing you're doing and get to the hanger! Mystic Boy is being brought down and needs immediate medical attention! I'm bringing them down! Go! Go!

Mystic Girl: Fuck really?! (She literally jumps from the screen she was working on and darted past her best friend. She slams a blue button on the wall before an alarm starts going off, blue flashing lights on the walls. From the left side of the hanger comes medical personnel at the ready with stretchers, movable carts with tools, and hands ready to accept those wounded.)

(Moments later when the sub emerged from the water and Halloween helped it doc did the men inside emerge with the two unconscious women. The medical team along with Mystic Girl were there to receive them, hurrying to grab them from the men and getting them medical attention.)

Mystic Girl: Fucking move it people! Mystic Boy needs blood! Where's that stash we had on standby? Get the stitches! The fluid bags! And for God's sake! Get her a fucking blanket! Its too cold now in here and her body temperature is gonna fucking change like mad and make her even more sick! (She darted her eyes in the direction of Chaos.) Stick with me. She's gonna need us. Let's go.

(Mystic marched away with the worn and injured while the other parties remained below. Halloween sighed before turning herself back to Dasansi, Roland and Oscar who remained with her.)

Halloween Witch: We need all the help we can get, men. Roland, I'm sending you below. We have multiple weapons in production along with new prototypes for capturing those assholes that kicked us out that need a look over. Go. (She then turned to the remaining two.) Dasansi, get going on those connections. Help yourself to the monitors in the corner over there, you have full access. Oscar? I'll need your help with the programing aspect with making sure everything stays running smoothly. We can't afford another break in our defenses, especially now that we're nearly all gathered. Get to that. I need to check in with Shadow and Shady now that they've made it.

(Trusting the men and leaving the command center, Halloween darts down to the sub where Shadow and Shady have been left in the chaos of all that just happened. Approaching the two of them, she hurries to hug them tightly, seeing they're okay.)

Halloween Witch: I'm so glad you two are well... and thank you for all that you did. Shadow, make sure you get yourself looked over at least. I can only imagine how much that desert must have done to you. And Shady, any wounds on you? (She pats him down gently.) Not much that I can see... but get yourself looked at quickly as well. Then, once you're both cleared for health, meet me upstairs. Your last transmission said you learned something Shady? I want to hear it all. Anything you learned, we need it... Especially since River is still out there... It's been three weeks... and their signal hasn't improved... I have no way of tracking them currently... and their weak signal has all but faded... I saw that Sunset tried to bring them with her... but there was nothing once she got here. River is still out there...

(Those that made it to the base now see the timer ticking down on the wall, six weeks left to go and counting down. Only one person out in the field somehow can still see it, through a pond they laid next to... a place where no one could reach them...)

We're almost all here. Only one is left unknown...

Can we find them? Does the enemy have them?

Searching... error, unable to find...

Searching... error, unable to find...

Searching... error, unable to find...

Searching... error, unable to find...

Searching... error, unable to find...

Error... error... 'River' cannot be found...

Please try again later...

Side Witch's Note: Super quick, congrats Chaos on the move! It's super exciting to hear you're living on your own now! Great job! I know you mentioned it once before, so we're happy for you!

Mystic Girl: Go Chaos! That's my second in command!
