Motostoke Gym Battles (Part One)
The next morning after everyone showered and ate breakfast, they all headed right to Motostoke Stadium.
"Who's ready to earn their third gym badges?" asked Lincoln. Everyone else cheers that they were.
"Hold on, we should get Sam registered when we get there." said Luna.
"Good idea." said Lucy from behind Luna, scaring her. They all soon reach the stadium and enter the lobby. They all then go to the front desk and get Sam registered for the Gym Challenge.
"Thanks, guys." said Sam.
"So, are you going to take on the Gym Leader here, Sam?" asked Luna.
"Maybe I'll wait until I take on the other two that you all defeated." said Sam.
"It's your call, Sam." said Luna. Lincoln then looks around at everyone.
"So, who's taking on Kabu first?" asked Lincoln.
"I'll go first." said Ronnie Anne as she steps forward.
"Okay." said Lincoln.
"Let's get into our uniforms." said Leni. Everyone goes to the dressing rooms and do so. When they all met up again at the lobby, a staff member walks over to them.
"So, which of you is challenging Kabu first?" asked the staff member.
"Me." said Ronnie Anne.
"Very well. Come with me." said the staff member. Ronnie Anne follows the staff member to a small open area with tall patches of grass.
"So, what's my Gym Test here?" asked Ronnie Anne.
"You are required to catch or defeat the Pokemon found here to earn points." said the staff member. "Defeating a Pokemon gets you one point; catching it gets you two points. You need five points in order to pass the Gym Test."
"That sounds easy enough." said Ronnie Anne. The staff member then looks towards three other trainers that were also there.
"You will also be battling alongside one of these three trainers as well." said the staff member.
"No problem." said Ronnie Anne.
"Very well, you may begin." said the staff member. Ronnie Anne and another trainer go into some nearby grass and soon spot a Vulpix. Ronnie Anne uses her Wartortle, while the trainer uses a Rolycoly. The two manage to weaken it enough for Ronnie Anne to capture. After that, Ronnie Anne also catches a Litwick and a Sizzlipede; earning her five points, passing the Gym Test. Once the staff member confirms that Ronnie Anne passed, he leads her to the battle arena of the stadium.
Ronnie Anne looks out onto the stadium with anticipation on her face. Feeling a presence nearby, she looks to her left and was surprised to see Kabu standing right next to her.
"Congratulations on passing your Gym Test, young lady." said Kabu.
"Thank you, sir." said Ronnie Anne. Kabu then starts jogging out onto the field with Ronnie Anne following after her.
Back in Royal Woods, the Louds that were still there, Clyde's dads, the Santiagos, and Simon Sharp were watching the Gym Battle.
"That Gym Test was a piece of cake." said Lynn Jr.
"Let's hope the Gym Battle is just as easy." said Bobby.
Back at the Motostoke Stadium, Ronnie Anne and Kabu reach the center of the arena with the crowd cheering for them.
"You can do it, Ronnie Anne!" cheered Lana.
"We're all behind you!" said Clyde. Ronnie Anne looks over at her friends and nods. An official walks to the center of the arena between the two trainers.
"This Gym Battle is between the Gym Leader, Kabu; and the Gym Challenger, Ronnie Anne." said the official. "Both trainers will each use three Pokemon; whoever manages to defeat all the other trainer's Pokemon will be the winner. Let the battle begin." said the official before he walks to the sidelines.
Kabu takes out a pokeball and throws it, releasing a cream colored, foxlike Pokemon with nine tails.
"What's that Pokemon?" asked Ronnie Anne as she takes out her Rotom Phone and points it towards the Pokemon.
"Ninetales, the Fox Pokemon, and the evolved form of Vulpix. Very smart and very vengeful. Grabbing one of its many tails could result in a 1,000-year curse." said Ronnie Anne's Rotom Phone.
"And Kabu starts out with his Ninetales." said the announcer. "What will Ronnie Anne use?"
"She's so elegant." said Lola.
"Her fur looks so smooth." said Leni.
"Don't forget, we're cheering for Ronnie Anne." said Lincoln. Back on the arena field, Ronnie Anne throws her pokeball, releasing her Wartortle.
"And Ronnie Anne is using a Wartortle. Can it stand up to Kabu's swift Ninetales?" asked the announcer.
"Wartortle, use Rain Dance!" said Ronnie Anne. Wartortle does some break-dancing moves which make some dark clouds appear above them and start pouring out rain.
"Clever, using Rain Dance to weaken my Pokemon's fire moves and powering up your Wartortle's water moves." said Kabu. "But do you think that'll be enough?"
"We'll just have to see for ourselves, won't we?" said Ronnie Anne with a smirk.
"Ninetales, Incinerate!" said Kabu. Ninetales releases a fireball from its mouth which hits Wartortle, not doing much damage, thanks in part to the rain, and Wartortle being resistant to water type moves.
"Wartortle, use Water Pulse!" says Ronnie Anne. Wartortle releases a watery sound blast from her mouth which hits Ninetales, doing a lot of super effective damage. Suddenly, Ninetales starts to stagger around dizzily.
"And it looks like Water Pulse has given Ninetales a case of confusion." said the announcer. Kabu looked a little nervous.
"Hurry and use Will-o-Wisp!" said Kabu. Ninetales tries to use the move, but in its confusion, lost control of the energy and it hurts her.
"Finish this with Rapid Spin!" said Ronnie Anne. Wartortle spins through the air and slams into Ninetales, doing enough damage to knock it out.
"Ninetales in unable to battle. Wartortle is the winner." said the official.
"And Ronnie Anne's Wartortle takes out Kabu's Ninetales!" said the announcer. A surge of energy rises up from Wartortle.
"Looks like Rapid Spin just made Wartortle a bit faster." said Ronnie Anne. Suddenly, Wartortle started to glow brightly.
"Wartortle's evolving!" said Lana.
"Now's a great time for that to happen." said Clyde. Everyone in the stadium and at the Loud House watch as Wartortle starts to change; when she finished, she was a lot bigger, she was a darker shade of blue, she had pointy ears on her head instead of wings, and most notably, coming out of her shell were two large cannon barrels.
"The battle seems to have caused Wartortle to evolve into Blastoise!" said the announcer.
"Blastoise?" said Ronnie Anne as she takes out her Rotom Phone and points it at her newly evolved Pokemon.
"Blastoise, the Shellfish Pokemon, and the final form of Squirtle. The rocket cannons on its shell fire jets of water capable of punching holes through thick steel." said Ronnie Anne's Rotom Phone.
"Whoa." said Ronnie Anne with amazement. "And this says that she learned Flash Cannon after evolving."
Back in Royal Woods at the Loud House, everyone was looking at Ronnie Anne's new Blastoise.
"That Pokemon definitely looks like it's packing some major firepower." said Lynn Jr.
"Don't you mean waterpower?" said Luan, making everyone groan.
"That Pokemon is like a tank." said Bobby.
"It's amazing that an organic being can develop such a trait like those cannon barrels." said Lisa.
Back at the Motostoke Stadium, Kabu returns his Ninetales to its pokeball.
"You rest up, Ninetales." said Kabu. He puts the pokeball and pulls out another one, then throws it, releasing a large, orange, doglike Pokemon with black stripes on its body.
"What's that Pokemon?" asked Ronnie Anne as she points her Rotom Phone at the Pokemon.
"Arcanine, the Legendary Pokemon, and the evolved form of Growlithe. A Pokémon that has long been admired for its beauty. It runs agilely as if on wings." said Ronnie Anne's Rotom Phone.
"And Kabu brings out his Arcanine. Can it handle Ronnie Anne's new Blastoise?" asked the announcer.
"That dog's bigger than Lalo!" said Ronnie Anne. The Arcanine growls fiercely at Blastoise, making her nervous, and lowering her attack power.
"Looks like Arcanine's Intimidate ability has weakened Blastoise's attack power; but will it make enough difference?" asked the announcer.
"Arcanine, Extreme Speed!" says Kabu. Faster than anyone can follow, Arcanine runs at Blastoise and slams into her, barely making her budge.
"That was fast." said Ronnie Anne. "Blastoise, use Iron Defense!" Blastoise tucks his arms, legs, and head into her shell and starts to glow, increasing her defense.
"Arcanine, use Bite!" said Kabu. Arcanine runs over to Blastoise and bites down on her shell, not doing much damage to her.
"Blastoise, use Aqua Tail while it's close to you." said Ronnie Anne. Blastoise's tail sticks out of her shell and becomes coated in water; she then spins and whacks Arcanine across its face, doing super effective damage, and knocking it back.
"Arcanine, use Extreme Speed!" says Kabu. Arcanine quickly moves towards Blastoise again and slams into her, but not doing as much damage as before thanks to Iron Defense increasing her defenses.
"Use Water Gun!" shouts Ronnie Anne. Blastoise points her cannon barrels at Arcanine and hits it with powerful blasts of water from them, doing super effective damage, and sending it flying at Kabu's feet, unconscious.
"Arcanine is unable to battle. Blastoise is the winner." said the official.
"And Ronnie Anne's Blastoise takes down another of Kabu's Pokemon! What will Kabu do now?" asked the announcer.
"Woohoo! You're doing great, Ronnie Anne!" said Lincoln.
"Just one more to go, dudette!" said Luna.
Back in Royal Woods, everyone was cheering for Ronnie Anne.
"This is so cool!" said Lynn Jr.
"Ronnie Anne just has to beat one more Pokemon and she'll win." said Bobby.
Back at Motostoke Stadium, Kabu returns his Arcanine to its pokeball.
"You gave it your all, old friend." said Kabu. He then puts Arcanine's pokeball away and pulls out his last one; he then throws it, releasing a large, reddish-orange, centipede like Pokemon with burning whiskers on its face and a pattern of bullseye-like circles going down its belly. Ronnie Anne takes out her Rotom Phone and points it at the Pokemon.
"Centiskorch, the Radiator Pokemon, and the evolved from of Sizzlipede. While its burning body is already dangerous on its own, this excessively hostile Pokémon also has large and very sharp fangs." said Ronnie Anne's Rotom Phone.
"And Kabu brings out his Centiskorch! Can it turn this match around for Kabu and bring him victory?" asked the announcer.
"That bug looks spicy." said Lana as she drooled at the sight of Centiskorch. Kabu then pulls up one of his sleeves, revealing a Dynamax Band.
"I know what's coming up next." said Clyde. Kabu then returns Centiskorch to its pokeball and uses his Dynamax Band to enlarge it; he then throws it, releasing his Centiskorch again, this time its not just bigger, its body is a lot longer, and it was red.
"And Kabu has Gigantimaxed his Centiskorch! What will Ronnie Anne do now?" asked the announcer.
"Does this answer your question?" asked Ronnie Anne as she returns her Blastoise to her pokeball, then uses her Dynamax Band to enlarge it; she then throws it, releasing her Blastoise.
"Whoa!" said Lincoln. "Is Blastoise Gigantimaxed?" Everyone was just as surprised by Blastoise's appearance. Not only was Blastoise a lot bigger, but she had over dozens of cannon barrels sticking out of her shell, not to mention an extra-large one coming out of the center.
"And Ronnie Anne's Blastoise is Gigantimaxed now! This is really shaping up to be an exciting match!" said the announcer.
"I doubt a fleet of battleships can handle that Pokemon." said Lana.
"Now that's some heavy artillery." said Luna. Back in Royal Woods, everyone was astonished by Blastoise's new appearance.
"That Pokemon's an army of one!" said Lynn Jr.
"I can't believe our kids are in control of that kind of power." said Maria Santiago.
"At least our kids are responsible enough to not misuse it." said Rita.
Back at Motostoke Stadium, the rain that Blastoise made suddenly stopped.
"The effects of Rain Dance have worn off. Will that be enough to give Centiskorch a chance at victory?" asked the announcer.
"We'll see." said Ronnie Anne.
"Centiskorch, use G-Max Centiferno!" said Kabu. Centiskorch compacts its body together and fires a large stream of fire from it, hitting Blastoise, but not doing a lot of damage to it. Suddenly, Blastoise becomes surrounded by fire.
"Where did that fire come from?" asked Ronnie Anne.
"An after effect of G-Max Centiferno." said Kabu. "Now your Blastoise will take damage once in a while until the fires fade away."
"Looks like Ronnie Anne's in will she do now?" asked the announcer.
"I'm gonna win this!" said Ronnie Anne.
"That's the spirit!" said Clyde.
"Don't give up!" said Sam.
"Blastoise, use Max Geyser!" said Ronnie Anne. Blastoise releases a large stream of water from her body, and it hits the Gigantamax Centiskorch, doing super effective damage; rain suddenly starts to fall.
"Blastoise makes more rain to power up her water moves, as well as weakening Centiskorch's fire moves." said the announcer.
"Centiskorch, use Max Flutterby!" said Kabu. Centiskorch releases a barrage of glowing green butterflies which hit Blastoise and create a large explosion.
"Time to end this!" said Ronnie Anne. "Blastoise, use G-Max Cannonade!" Blastoise turns around and starts firing off hundreds of water blasts from all the cannons at Centiskorch before the large one gathers a lot of water and shoots out a massive ball of water which all hit Centiskorch, doing enough super effective damage to cause the energy within it to explode and revert it to its normal size, unconscious.
"Centiskorch is unable to battle. Blastoise is the winner. That means the winner of the match is the Gym Challenger, Ronnie Anne." said the official.
"And it's over! Ronnie Anne's Blastoise has washed away all of Kabu's Pokemon to clinch the victory for her!" said the announcer.
"She did it!" cheered Lincoln.
"I, totes, knew she could do it!" said Leni.
"We all did!" said Lana. Blastoise returns to her normal size and Ronnie Anne runs up and hugs her.
"You were awesome, Blastoise!" said Ronnie Anne. Blastoise smiles in response. Back in Royal Woods, everyone at the Loud House was cheering for Ronnie Anne.
"Nie-Nie did it!" said Bobby.
"I literally knew she could do it!" said Lori.
"I'm so glad." said Maria.
Back at Motostoke Stadium, Kabu returns his Centiskorch to its pokeball.
"You fought bravely, Centiskorch." said Kabu. He puts Centiskorch's pokeball away and walks over to Ronnie Anne and Centiskorch. "Your Blastoise is quite powerful, young lady."
"Thanks." said Ronnie Anne. Kabu reaches into his pocket and pulls out a Gym Badge that had an insignia of fire on it.
"As proof of your victory, I present you with this Fire Badge." said Kabu as he hands the Gym Badge, along with some pokedollars to Ronnie Anne.
"Awesome! I have the Fire Badge!" said Ronnie Anne as she holds it up in triumph.
Later in the lobby, everyone was congratulating Ronnie Anne on her victory.
"You were awesome!" said Lincoln.
"And your Blastoise is really tough." said Luna.
"Did you see all the cannons sticking out of her when she was Gigantimaxed?" asked Sam.
"I know, right?" replied Ronnie Anne. Just then, a staff member walks over to them.
"Which of you will be challenging Kabu next?" asked the staff member. Lola steps forward.
"I shall." replied Lola. The staff member steps aside to allow Lola to enter the test area. Once inside, another staff member informs Lola on what she has to do. Lola had her Primarina defeat five Pokemon in the test area to earn enough points to pass the Gym Test.
Minutes later, Lola and Kabu were facing each other on the pitch while Lincoln, his sisters who are with him, Clyde, Ronnie Anne, and Sam were in the audience watching while the rest of Lincoln's family, Clyde's dads, and the Santiagos watched.
"Go, Lola!" said Lincoln.
"You can do it, sis!" said Lana.
"Win this, Lola!" Lynn Jr says back in Royal Woods.
"We believe in you." said Rita. Back in Motostoke Stadium.
"This Gym Battle is between the Gym Leader, Kabu; and the Gym Challenger, Lola Loud." said the official. "Both trainers will each use three Pokemon; whoever manages to defeat all the other trainer's Pokemon will be the winner. Let the battle begin." said the official before he walks to the sidelines. Lola and Kabu each pull out a pokeball.
"Ninetales, go!" said Kabu, throwing Ninetales pokeball and releasing it.
"Kabu starts things off with his Ninetales." said the announcer.
"Primarina, you're up!" said Lola as she spins around and stopping to throw Primarina's pokeball, releasing her.
"And Lola responds by bringing out a Primarina." said the announcer. Back in Royal Woods.
"That Primarina is beautiful." said Rita.
"She looks so elegant." said Harold Bride.
"Primarina will show Ninetales what it's mermaid of." said Luan, making a pun about Primarina's mermaid like appearance. "Get it?" Everyone moans. Back in Motostoke Stadium.
"Primarina, dazzle these people with Aqua Jet!" said Lola. Primarina becomes surrounded by water and she flies at Ninetales and rams it, dealing super effective damage.
"Ninetales, Quick Attack!" said Kabu. Ninetales charges at Primarina with incredible speed and rams her, knocking her back. "Quick Attack again!" Ninetales charges at Primarina and rams her.
"Oh yeah?! Primarina, Sparkling Aria!" said Lola. Primarina stands on her tail and begins to sing, a ball of water forms above her head. It bursts into bubbles which fly at Ninetales and hits it, dealing enough damage to knock it out.
"Ninetales is unable to battle. Primarina wins the match." said the referee.
"Primarina has defeated Ninetales! Can Kabu make a comeback?" asked the referee. Back at Royal Woods, Lynn Jr lets out a scoff.
"I doubt it." said Lynn Jr.
"That Primarina sings so beautifully." said Howard with tears in his eyes.
Back at Motostoke Stadium, Kabu returns Ninetales to its pokeball.
"You did well, Ninetales." said Kabu. He puts Ninetales pokeball away and pulls out another one. "Arcanine, let's go!" He tosses Arcanine's pokeball and releases it.
"And Kabu brings out Arcanine." said the announcer. Arcanine growls at Primarina and weakens her attack strength due to its Intimidate ability.
"You can do it, Lola!" said Luna.
"Arcanine, Extreme Speed!" said Kabu. Arcanine charges at Primarina quickly and rams her, knocking her back.
"Primarina, Sing!" said Lola. Primarina begins to sing a melodious tune and Arcanine begins to get drowsy; he soon falls asleep and collapses.
"Arcanine, wake up!" said Kabu.
"Bubble Beam!" said Lola. Primarina unleashes a beam of glowing bubbles from her mouth, and it hits Arcanine, dealing super effective damage. "Now use Water Gun" Primarina fires a spiral of water from her mouth, and it hits Arcanine, dealing super effective damage and lowering its speed. Arcanine suddenly wakes up.
"Arcanine, Extreme Speed!" said Kabu. Arcanine charges at Primarina and rams her, knocking her back.
"Sparkling Aria!" said Lola. Primarina stands on her tail and begins to sing, forming a ball of water above her head and it bursts into bubbles that fly at Arcanine, hitting it, and knocking it out.
"Arcanine is unable to battle. Primarina wins the match." said the referee.
"Primarina has defeated Kabu's second Pokemon. Now Lola is one battle away from winning the gym battle." said the announcer.
"You're doing great, Lola!" said Lincoln.
"You can totes do it!" said Leni. Everyone in Royal Woods cheered for Lola. Back at Motostoke Stadium, Kabu returns Arcanine to its pokeball.
"You did well, Arcanine." said Kabu. He puts Arcanine's pokeball away and pulls out another one. "Centiskorch, go!" He throws Centiskorch's pokeball and releases it.
"And Kabu brings out his Centiskorch." said the announcer. He returns Centiskorch to its pokeball and uses his Dynamax Band to enlarge it. He tosses the pokeball and releases his now Gigantimaxed Centiskorch. Lola returns Primarina to her pokeball and enlarges it with her Dynamax Band. She tosses it and releases her Primarina, now Dynamaxed.
"Kabu has Giganimaxed her Centiskorch while Lola Dynamaxes her Primarina." said the announcer. "How will this battle end?"
"Centiskorch, Max Flutterby!" Centiskorch unleashes glowing green butterflies from its body, and they hit Primarina, not doing much damage to her due to her being part fairy and weakening her special attack strength.
"Primarina, Max Geyser!" said Lola. Primarina unleashes a stream of water, and it hits Centiskorch, dealing super effective damage. It begins to rain in the stadium.
"Centiskorch, Max Strike!" said Kabu. Centiskorch begins surging with energy and a pillar of energy shoots up from below Primarina and hits her, damaging her and lowering her speed.
"Max Geyser again!" said Lola. Primarina fires another stream of water out of her mouth, and it hits Centiskorch, dealing more damage than before due to the rain powering up Primarina's water type moves.
"Max Strike again!" said Kabu. Centiskorch unleashes another pillar of energy from below Primarina, and it lands a critical hit to her. Primarina struggles to stay up.
"Don't give up, Lola!" said Clyde.
"You can do it!" said Ronnie Anne. Everyone in Royal Woods were looking with tense looks on their faces.
"I don't think Primarina can take another hit." said Hector.
"We need to believe she can hang in there." said Lynn Sr.
"You can do it, sweetie." said Rita.
"Hang in there!" said Lynn Jr. Back at Motostoke Stadium, Primarina glares at Centiskorch and a blue aura suddenly surrounds her body.
"That must be Primarina's Torrent ability." said Lola. She looks at the rain and grins. "Okay, Primarina, Max Geyser!" Primarina unleashes a powerful stream of water from her mouth, and it lands a critical hit on Centiskorch; due to Primarina's Mystic Water, the rain, and her Torrent ability powering up Max Geyser, it was powerful enough to knock Centiskorch out, causing it to shrink down to its original size.
"Centiskorch is unable to battle. Primarina wins. The winner of this gym battle is the challenger, Lola Loud." said the referee.
"She's done it! Thanks to Primarina's Torrent ability, Lola has defeated Kabu's Centiskorch to win the match!" said the announcer. Lincoln, his family, both in Royal Woods and Galar, Clyde, Ronnie Anne, Sam, the Santiagos and the McBrides are all cheering for Lola. Primarina then returns to her original size. As Lola is bowing to everyone in Motostoke Stadium, Kabu returns Centiskorch to its pokeball.
"I'm proud of you, Centiskorch; you've earned a rest." said Kabu. He puts Centiskorch's pokeball away and walks to Lola, which makes her stop bowing. "You've trained your Primarina quite well."
"Thank you, sir." said Lola. Kabu reaches into his pocket and pulls out a Fire Badge.
"For your victory, I reward you with the Fire Badge." said Kabu. He gives Lola the Fire Badge, along with pokedollars.
Later at the lobby, everyone else was congratulating Lola.
"You were great, Lola." said Lincoln.
"Thanks, Linky." said Lola. A staff member walks over to the group.
"Which of you will be challenging Kabu?" asked the staff member.
"Me!" replied Lana, waving her hand up.
"Very well. When you're ready, you may walk through those doors and takes on the Gym Test." said the staff member. Ronnie Anne and Lola have earned their Fire Badges; can Lana do the same?
