The Sorcerer Hero: Deku

Chapter eight: Doing real work whether they want to or not

One day near the end of Ainz's first week at U.A., Aizawa announced that the class had to elect a class representative and class vice representative. This got a lot of the students excited, with many of them already clamoring to be elected to lead the class. The idea also appealed to Ainz; he led The Great Tomb of Nazarick, he ruled the first New World, and he intended to claim dominion over the second New World as well.

...But a thought crossed his mind, telling him that either leadership position in class may obligate him to do extra work that could take time away from his other tasks. As such, Ainz did a quick mental review of all of his peers in Class 1-A, appraising all of them mentally on who he felt were the most worthy of the class rep and class vice rep positions, and he'd subtly use his magic to influence his peers into voting that way.

After the mental review of the rest of Class 1-A, Ainz came to the belief that Tenya would be best for the class rep position; when talking about it Tenya looked and sounded more sure of what he was talking about than anyone else. Hell, even if Ainz wanted the position himself he'd still admit that Tenya would be a better fit. As for class vice rep, the Sorcerer King believed that Yaoyorozu would be the best choice due to her smarts.

As such, the class voted, subtly influenced by a spell from Ainz, and Tenya and Yaoyorozu were respectively voted as class rep and class vice rep respectively. Ainz was careful not to make it too obvious that something was amiss, he left a few persons uninfluenced. But he still got the desired outcome that he wanted. With those positions filled, Ainz had one less potential obligation to worry about when it came to holding him back.

...

Later in the cafeteria, Ainz sat with Ochaco and Tenya. "Congratulations on your victory in the election, Iida-san," Ainz said, "I have no doubt that you will lead our class well."

"Yeah Iida, Midoriya-kun's got a point," Ochaco said as she ate her lunch, "You got the looks and smarts for the job!"

"I still can't believe that I won," Tenya said, looking a bit surprised, "I thought for sure that Midoriya would have won, but he only got one vote which I know came from me as I voted for him."

Ainz let out a sincerely amused laugh. "I appreciate the confidence you have in me, but I don't think I'd do well as a class representative." Ainz silently thought that he barely pulled off leading the Great Tomb in the first New World. "And what makes you so certain that I'd be a great leader?" Ainz asked.

Gesturing to Ainz, Tenya said, "Well look at what all you've done! You broke records in the entrance exam, you placed first in the quirk assessment test, you and Uraraka-san beat me and Bakugo in the heroes versus villains exercise like it was nothing!"

"I'd say all of that is due to power," Ainz replied, "And power isn't as important when it comes to being a leader as knowing how to lead and knowing how to manage is." Pointing at Tenya, Ainz went on, "You, Iida-san, have prov-"

*WRRRRRRRYYYYYYYYYYYY*

Ainz was cut off when all alarm went off suddenly, making him perk up a bit. "...Ah, might that be related to the over enthusiastic news media members from earlier trying to pester us about All Might being a teacher here at U.A. now?" Ainz asked, "Maybe they got in and it triggered a security alarm of some kind."

"There's no way the news media would be able to get into U.A.," Tenya insisted, "The security for the school is too-"

"A bunch of news media people just stormed the school!" screamed a girl with long wavy dark hair also she was holding a personal refillable water bottle with dinosaur stickers on it. She was looking out a window and saw it happening.

Tenya and Ochaco both turned to look at Ainz. "...How did you get that right, Midoriya-san?" Tenya asked, clearly bewildered.

"Because they're news media members," Ainz replied dryly, "Never underestimate how creative they can be when it comes to getting something they want." In truth Ainz was simply bullshitting when he offered the news media as a reason why the alarms went off, partly to express his annoyance with them getting up in his face. One lady was seriously asking for a Grasp Heart when she practically shoved her microphone into Ainz's face.

The fact that his bullshitting suggestion actually turned out to be true actually made Ainz wonder how in blazes the news media stormed U.A. grounds. Regardless, the students had to be funneled to safety while the school staff handled getting rid of the news media. During the evacuation, Tenya pulled off a daring stunt that showed students the way to safety. Said stunt made Ainz all the more sure that Tenya Iida was the right choice for Class 1-A's class rep.

...

Because of the incident, Ainz had some Eight Edged Assassins come in to scout things out and determine what in blazes happened and how. As Ainz was doing Izuku's homework for the day, he got the report he was wanting. As it turned out, a portion of the wall surrounding U.A. grounds had been busted down, like it was decayed away. The news media members swarmed in through that entrance that someone had made.

Ainz also got it that the pro heroes, particularly those working at U.A. as teachers, were also looking into the matter. They reasoned that it had to be the work of a villain; if it was just a news media member, they'd only make the entrance big enough for themselves and then seal it back up if it was possible as news media members like their scoops to be exclusive.

But the hole in the wall was big enough to let the news media members swarm in by the dozens, with no care about closing it back up. Ainz had to agree with the assessment that the Eight Edged Assassins said the pro heroes have. The Sorcerer King would look into helping to keep U.A. secure as it's vital to his plans while he studies quirks. He was also going to look into figuring out who it was who was ballsy enough to let the news media members into U.A. and why they did so.

Ainz didn't like not having all of the answers.

The first day of the second week saw Ainz and his peers in Class 1-A go to someplace called the Unforseen Simulation Joint, called the USJ for short. Everyone was in their hero outfits as they would be doing hero training. This saw Ainz wear his purple robe that's a downgraded form of the hooded black robe he usually wears. Ainz also had his staff with him. He sat on a seat that had its back to the side of the bus.

He looked across where Tenya and Ochaco sat on a bench; they would have sat with Ainz, but two girls in Class 1-A with them, the pink girl who Ainz learned is named Mina Ashido and a girl with a frog like air about her named Tsuyu Asui, sat down on either side of Ainz before Ochaco and Tenya were able to get onto the bus. Mina was scribbling something down in a notepad while Tsuyu was looking at a photo in her wallet.

His curiosity piqued by Mina, Ainz asked when he turned to face her, "What are you writing down, Ashido-san?"

"A parody song titled 'Party in the USJ'," Mina replied, "I actually just finished it." Mina showed it to Ainz, and to the surprise of the Sorcerer King the lyrics not only were complete but actually formed in his opinion a solid song. "What do you think?" Mina asked.

"I'm actually rather impressed," Ainz replied, "Mind you I'm not much of an expert on music so I can't give a serious and credible critique, but it does look very well thought out."

"Remind me never to let you influence my little sister kero," Tsuyu spoke up, "She really likes singing and does it enough as it is, annoying me, our brother, and our parents to no end. We don't need you refining that interest."

"You have younger siblings, Asui?" Tenya asked, his interest piqued.

Nodding once, Tsuyu said, "I'm actually looking at a photo of them right now." Tsuyu then showed the photo of her younger siblings to Tenya, Ochaco, and Ainz. When Ainz saw the photo, he saw two kids, a boy he estimated to be ten and a girl he estimated to be six. The girl had greenish hair in twin low hanging pigtails, she wore a green long sleeved dress that reached halfway down her shins, and that's where the photo cut off.

The boy had darkish green hair that reached his chin, and the bangs were allowed to cover one of his eyes. He wore a baggy dark bluish shirt, and baggy tan cargo pants. What interested Ainz was that both kids held different plushies; the girl held a cocoa skinned female human with long white hair, she wore a white leotard, black stockings, and she had long white furry rabbit ears. Ainz could have sworn the lady is a female rabbit beastman.

The boy held a plushy of a dragon with light gray scales, blonde hair that covered one of its eyes, and a red qipao dress. It also had bumps resembling female human breasts on its chest. "I notice that both of your younger siblings are holding unique plushies," Ainz said.

"Oh, those are plushies of their respective favorite pro heroes," Tsuyu explained, "My little sister Satsuki is holding a plushy of her favorite pro hero Mirko, the Rabbit Hero. My little brother Samidare is holding a plushy of his favorite pro hero, Ryukyu the Dragon Hero. I took this photo the day before my first day of school at U.A."

Ainz was interested in this Dragon Hero that Tsuyu mentioned. Dragons exist in the second New World? And they're able to become pro heroes? The Sorcerer King was going to want to look into this Ryukyu person, she just became a leader person of interest on Ainz's list. Mirko as well given that Ainz wasn't expecting there to be beastmen in the second New World. There was something else about the photo Tsuyu showed that Ainz was interested in.

Tsuyu's little siblings themselves. The last young child that Ainz had encountered and got to know personally, that being Eri, has a natural Quirk Capacity that's above the common limit of four, even though it's just five which is only one more above the common limit. Ainz wanted to see of other young children had natural Quirk Capacities above the common limit of four, because if so then he'd have to keep an eye out for kids native to the second New World.

Within short order, the bus arrived at the USJ. Students had to leave things not strictly part of their hero outfits on the bus, which included Mina's notebook. Ainz was able to bring his staff as it's a part of his hero outfit, and Tsuyu put the photo away into her wallet and put it in her pants. As soon as everyone was ready, they all got off the bus and followed Aizawa into the USJ to begin some real serious hero training.

Ainz hoped nothing would go wrong, but a nagging feeling told him it would.

Inside of the USJ, Class 1-A and Aizawa met up with an astronaut themed pro hero called Thirteen. "All Might was supposed to meet us here, but he's running late," Thirteen said to the students, "We'll just have to wait for him until later."

Ainz was unamused that a pro hero of All Might's level was running late for an obligation; no doubt the man was held up by fans. "Well he is a pro hero, Ms. Thirteen," Ainz spoke up, "Maybe he got held up helping to stop a crime."

"Knowing All Might, I bet that Midoriya's assessment is accurate," Aizawa remarked dryly, "The idiot doesn't know when to step back and let other pro heroes pitch in." The tone that Aizawa gave off told Ainz that Aizawa had similar sentiments towards the Symbol of Peace that Ainz himself held. One more point in Aizawa's favor.

Holding up a hand, Tenya asked, "Senseis, what will we be doing here?"

"Learning to deal with all manner of natural disasters," Thirteen replied, "See kids, not all problems that pro heroes face are villains you can punch in the face. Heroes also help with providing relief in disaster situations. Forest fires, floods, earthquakes-"

"-Hizashi singing at karaoke night," Aizawa cut in dryly.

"Oh hush you," Thirteen said to Aizawa. Ainz for his part actually found amusement in Aizawa's jab at Hizashi Yamada, who is the pro hero Present Mic. Having gotten to know Hizashi as he's also a teacher at U.A., Ainz felt that Hizashi could... be a bit louder than necessary. He agreed with Aizawa that Hizashi can stand to tone it down a few notches.

It was as Ainz was mentally giving Aizawa another point in his favor that a male classmate named Eijiro Kirishima raised a hand as he was looking at something. "Uhh, quick question," Kirishima said, "Will we also be tackling how to deal with giant black and purplish swirling portals of mist?"

Both Aizawa and Thirteen gave off curious airs. "No, Kirishima," Thirteen replied, "Why do you ask?"

Pointing at what he was looking at, Kirishima said, "Then explain that."

Everyone turned to see a wide portal of swirling black and purplish mist forming down in the USJ's main area; they all stood at the top of the staircase leading down into the area. Suddenly, loads of unsavory looking persons began filing out of the portal. By the time everyone was done coming out, Ainz with a casual glance estimates their numbers to be in the early to mid seventies; even if the two present pro heroes were counted with the twenty students, they were still outnumbered a little more than three to one.

Standing at the front was an individual covered in hands, standing next to a large dark tall hulking muscular brute with a beak like face and an exposed brain. Ainz guessed them to be the leading enemy players here. Ainz also saw a misty looking man in a bartender outfit form out from the portal and stand behind the hand covered person. Another key enemy player that the Sorcerer King had to keep an eye out for.

"This is a real villain attack!" Thirteen exclaimed, "We need to-"

"The doors are already sealed, hero," said the hand covered villain, "You'd need All Might level strength to bust them down! Speaking of, we came here to kill All Might but he's not here! Where the hell is All Might?!"

"They... they came here to kill All Might?" said the short boy Ainz learned is named Minoru Mineta, who was almost expelled from U.A. on day one only to be saved because Aizawa was joking. Right now, Ainz had an extremely low opinion of Mineta due to the short boy's perversion; Peroronchino was at least charming in his lewdness and also knew where and when to draw the line. Mineta did not, and Ainz had contemplated letting Shalltear just kill Mineta at least twice so far.

But like how Bakugo had shown improvement in character, so too did Ainz believe the same was possible for Mineta. And Mineta was showing concern for others right now, his pervertedness wasn't showing at the moment. Mineta was shown to be right for being concerned, as the villain covered in hands stepped forward.

"Maybe we can hasten his arrival if we kill some of the hero kids here," the hand covered villain said in a threatening tone, scaring some of Ainz's peers.

Ainz wasn't the least bit scared himself, but he was concerned for his peers; the levels of every student in Class 1-A, aside from Ainz who's level one-hundred, range between six and twelve. Even the weakest in terms of level can be resurrected once, but none of them can be resurrected more than twice before they can't be resurrected again, as a loss of five levels is imposed when a person is resurrected from the dead except with certain methods.

The hand covered villain then picked up a rock the size of a baseball and touched it with all five digits on one of his real hands. The rock then turned gray and collapsed into ash. "Who among you brats wants to be the first to not leave a body behind?" screamed the hand covered villain.

Ainz was now alarmed, as he wasn't sure if even the best methods of resurrection he had access to can resurrect someone from the dead if their body is disintegrated. Forget trying to bring the hand covered villain down for capture, he has to die. Before anyone could have done anything, Ainz cast Time Stop to freeze time so he could deal with at least the hand covered villain, the monster next to him, and the misty bartender.

The Sorcerer King approached the frozen in time villains, cast Detect Quirk on the hand covered villain. From this, Ainz learned that his name given as Tomura Shigaraki, and his level is twenty-one. He had one quirk and a Quirk Capacity of three. Ainz then checked what quirk the now identified Shigaraki had, and was a bit surprised with some of the info that he learned.

Decay (artificial) (Emitter-type)

Allows the user to turn anything they touch with all five digits on one hand into ash. The decay will spread to all parts of an object unless the affected part is cut off before it can spread. Decay is an artificial quirk.

Curious as he's never seen an artificial quirk before, Ainz checked the term by pointing at it, and learned that artificial quirks are quirks that are engineered and bestowed upon the user rather than be a quirk they're naturally born with. Regardless, Ainz was able to take Decay from Shigaraki via Harvest Quirk. The bio on the Quirk Jewel that held Decay said that it's a Quirk Jewel that held the artificial quirk Decay.

Ainz then cast True Death on the frozen in time Shigaraki, adding the Delay Magic boost to give him time. Ainz then checked the misty bartender with Detect Quirk and learned his name is Kurogiri and he's level twenty-five. Despite being a higher level than Shigaraki, Kurogiri is obviously deferring to the hand covered villain. Kurogiri has one quirk and a Quirk Capacity of four, the first time that Ainz saw someone with the common natural Quirk Capacity limit.

Checking Kurogiri's one quirk, Ainz saw that it was also an artificial quirk called Warp Gate, and it let the user make swirling portals of black and purplish mist that people can use to travel. It's basically the quirk version of the Gate spell. That plus its nature as an artificial quirk piqued Ainz's interest, so he took it via Harvest Quirk, then cast True Death on Kurogiri, also applying the Delay Magic boost to it to give him time.

Ainz then turned his attention to the beast. Checking it with Detect Quirk, Ainz at first wasn't sure if it'd work but was pleasantly surprised to see it did. The beast is called Nomu, and it was level forty-five. That surprised Ainz as the now identified Nomu could potentially go toe to toe with a Death Knight in a one-v-one. Additionally, Nomu was the first being that Ainz encountered in the second New World to have more than one quirk without Ainz himself playing a role.

Among the quirks that Nomu had were Shock Absorption and Super Regeneration. Ainz's interest was piqued when he saw that all of Nomu's quirks were labeled as synthetic. Checking the term, Ainz learned that synthetic quirks are genetically duplicated copies of naturally occurring quirks, rather than be entirely new quirks made genetically like the case for artificial quirks. Ainz was going to write this new information down for later study.

Ainz then cast Harvest Quirk on Nomu, and was surprised when presented with a menu that listed what quirks Nomu had. He also saw a message that said 'Please select the quirks you wish to harvest', and under the list of quirks was a prompt he could press that said 'Harvest All'. From this, Ainz reasoned that casting Harvest Quirk on a target with more than one quirk means he'll have to either manually select what quirks he wants from the target or take all quirks from the target all at once. Ainz made a mental note to test this later.

For now, he pressed the Harvest All prompt and got Quirk Jewels containing all of Nomu's quirks. Ainz then thought about casting the Delay Magic True Death combo on Nomu, but he thought against it as it'd be suspicious when, after Ainz drops the Time Stop, that the three big enemy players all suddenly drop dead. Ainz decided to leave Nomu as is after taking all of its quirks, with the hopes leaving the beast quirkless will make it less of a threat.

Deciding that he had to be satisfied with his many new harvested Quirk Jewels and the fact that Shigaraki and Kurogiri will both drop dead when the Time Stop is dropped, Ainz used magic to fly back to where he stood, assumed his stance he was in before he cast Time Stop, then dropped Time Stop to let time go back to flowing normally. As soon as he did, both Shigaraki and Kurogiri fell over lifelessly, like puppets whose strings had been cut.

This surprised Ainz's peers in Class 1-A, as well as Aizawa and Thirteen, and especially the fodder force of lesser villains that they were leading. Nomu still stood there, but it didn't so much as blink. "Something happened to the leader!" one female villain screamed, "Let's just rush the brats!"

As the seventy plus strong force of lesser villains charged, Aizawa snarled, "Shit, this is bad!"

"We're going to have to let the students fight," Thirteen said, "At least from a distance and aiming to keep the villains at bay!"

Sighing, Aizawa said, "You got a point." Turning to his students, Aizawa said, "Attention, students! You have permission from me and Thirteen to use your quirks to fight back, but try to keep the villains at a distance and restrain them if possible!"

Some of the students actually cheered with excitement at getting to use their quirks. From what Ainz had on the subject, licenced pro heroes can give permission to unlicensed persons to use their quirks in certain situations. Unlicensed persons can also freely use their quirks in emergency situations if need be, but there are a lot of other rules on the matter. Ainz was going to have to look up those rules on legal quirk usage.

Regardless, the students had to fight, quite possibly for their lives. But with Ainz Ooal Gown being there, Class 1-A had nothing to fear, although they didn't know it.

After a good bit of fighting, all of the villains were defeated in battle. Ainz, appreciating the order from Aizawa and Thirteen to keep a distance and restrain if possible, fired Fireballs and Dragon Lightnings as warning shots, making sure to not hit anyone as he was certain his spells would one hit kill if they did hit. He was also able to sneak in sleep spells to make the fodder force villains simply fall asleep.

Ainz also saw a bit of improvement in Mineta, who used his Pop Off quirk to pull the sticky purple balls from his head and throw them at the oncoming fodder force villains to restrain them by sticking their feet to the ground. The perverted boy at least knew how to follow orders and behave in emergency situations. Although it took a while, and a few fodder force villains slipped through and required close combat type Class 1-A students to fight, the villains were still defeated.

What's more is that no one (on the side of the heroes at least) had died. Some tanky close combat type Class 1-A students took a few hits, but they would recover. Ainz would later learn that all of the fighting raised the levels of all of his classmates by two, meaning the level range for Class 1-A is now eight to fourteen. Usually one had to kill opponents in battle to gain experience to level up, but it's not necessarily required here apparently.

As all of the rounded up villains were loaded into prisoners transport trucks brought to the USJ, a few emergency response vehicles were parked outside as the emergency response personnel went to check on the students. None of them were seriously hurt, and only the ones who took damage needed any real attention. It was as Aizawa and Thirteen were talking to a police officer identified as Detective Naomasa that All Might showed up.

Seeing this, Aizawa gave the Symbol of Peace an annoyed look. "About time you showed up, you tardy oaf," Aizawa scowled in a mildly annoyed tone.

"Sorry I'm late, I got caught up helping with fighting crime on the way," All Might apologized, "So what did I miss?"

"The situation will be discussed in detail in a staff meeting at U.A. later," Aizawa said, "But the main point is no one aside from two villains died, and only a few students were at best mildly roughed up. They can basically walk it off."

All Might sighed in relief, right before he was swarmed by the Class 1-A students who all clamored around him. Ainz kept a distance though, still unamused with the Symbol of Peace. Although he was the target of the villain attack on the USJ so him not being there made the efforts of the villains moot, All Might still had a duty to the students.

There's also something about the villain activity today that concerned the Sorcerer King. It gave off vibes of being part of a bigger scheme that's brewing in the shadows. It could be a threat to Ainz's plans for the second New World. He was going to look into this and sus out what all was going on so that his path to the throne of the second New World remains clear.

After everything was settled and Class 1-A was allowed to go home, Ainz after doing all of Izuku's homework went to his office in Nazarick. There, he while having an illusion spell up to appear as his skeletal self made notes on everything he learned today. He also wrote out several ideas on how to deal with the potential thorn in the ball sack of his plans for the second New World.

In the room with Ainz was Albedo, who looked on in admiration at her lord and love of her life. "I get the feeling that something happened in the second New World that may be a threat to your goals there, Lord Ainz," Albedo spoke up.

"Indeed, Albedo," Ainz said, "There's an as of yet unknown organization that is operating in the shadows, and their actions are already getting in my way. I'm contemplating how to sus them out and deal with them. I'm also writing down what all I've learned about the powers of the second New World today."

"The humans getting in the way of your plans ought to be put to death for their folly, Lord Ainz," Albedo said right away.

Looking up from what he was writing, Ainz said, "I'm considering putting at least some of them to death, given they threatened valuable pawns to my goals. But until we learn more info about these surprise enemies, we have to... play the waiting game as it were." Going back to his writing, Ainz went on, "I also want to set up some security for my holdings in the second New World, actions over the past few days suggest it's warranted."

Albedo nodded once in understanding. "It is always wise to have protection for your property, Lord Ainz."

Looking up from his writings again, Ainz said, "...Depending on how many enemies I have to deal with in the second New World because of this enemy organization, I may be able to bring back at least one human each for you, the other guardians, and at least the battle maids to do with as you all wish. Would you all like that?"

Albedo's lips spread into an sincerely touched yet elated smile. "Oh we'd all love that, Lord Ainz. At least a few of us would appreciate a snack from the second New World." Ainz nodded once in understanding before resuming his writing. He thought that if he did bring back one second New World human each for the guardians and battle maids, there was a ninety-one point six percent chance that the human Aura got would have a living snake shoved up their ass.

END, CHAPTER EIGHT

Author's notes;

This chapter covers the student class rep election, where Ainz uses his magic to subtly influence enough of the class to elect Tenya and Yaoyorozu to the class rep and class vice rep roles respectively after he determines either role for himself would cut into his free time. Then the news media members invading U.A. grounds occurs, hinting to Ainz that something is amiss.

This is further highlighted when the League of Villains, although the heroes don't have that name yet, try attacking the USJ, only for things to be resolved easily for the heroes because Ainz was there and he doesn't like his assets being threatened. Next chapter will deal with the fallout of what happened here, as well as seeing Ainz take certain actions.
