Storm Sworn
Summary: Found drifting at sea by a woman from her cruise suite, surrounded by a bright ring of Tynamo and residing inside an unfamiliar body, Aric Fisk doesn't know what to think about his old dreams becoming reality. But he learns fast it's not all rainbows and sunshine. Quite the opposite, really. And much too quickly in his opinion.

Floating among all the sea life, a gray fish with pointy magenta fins found itself the odd fish outside the bunch. From its short acclimation to the ocean and now its temporary home in this... sanctum of healing, the sharp fish never fit in. It tried many times to communicate. However, being mute because tearing up your own body came at some kind of cost, to say the least, made it hard.
Veluza's budding psychic powers were still developing and currently recovering. Even now, the energies for it were tied to both its physical body as much as it was the mental. The Doctor had remarked at the incredible ability. But she chided the Pokemon nonetheless through her Slowking, who had also given the isolated Pokemon tips.
So young, it shouldn't have tried to "Fillet Away," but it had no other choice. It was do or die at that moment for it to escape its untrustworthy captors. As a fry, or a baby, most Pokemon would be inclined to imprint. All the same, they were more intune to emotional impressions. Feeling the opposite of its parents? Escape.
Escape it had—into the big wide water world, where it saw Pokemon its parents had only spoken about in mental whispers. Each of them rebuffed or rejected the muted babe fish.
Because of that, it tried its hardest to draw up the ability to communicate telepathically. Unfortunately, this was where its gray body came into conflict with its desire. The body used the psychic energies to forcibly recreate and knit its body together. It was a rushed job with no other duty than to repair. Thankfully, the fish lacked many nerves and was mostly numb to what the senior Pokemon referred to as "pain" with its white matter-like body.
Under Slowking's gaze, she made cuts in an effort to reignite the healing process, but to no avail. Veluza wasn't yet intune to its body to a level it knew everything about it. It didn't know what and how to repair all the damage and what scar tissue to replace. It was why its parents told it to hold back on the move, especially away from their attention where they couldn't help it. So until Doctor Osumi got more information from something called the email, Veluza had to wait patiently.
In the meantime, it tried to self study the meager leftovers of its psychic energy. There was some success.
That was until the newest patient, a human, joined the sanctum.
He was a Marked One. The Emolga from the Electric trainer had mislabeled the mark. It wasn't Victini. No, it was from one Veluza had come across once. Respected by all those under the water, Manaphy marked him. Why? Veluza couldn't tell. On top of that, there was a stronger, electrifying presence.
Either way, because of that, this person was an anomaly, undertaking more power than most Pokemon would ever form.
All the other sea creatures around him couldn't help but find themselves adversely interested against their better judgment. All except the overcharged Tynamo's. They had escorted him and were happy to do so for their savior.
He couldn't be too evil if these fellow frys followed him.
And so, the Jettison Pokemon tried to brush up against the human empathically. It failed horrendously against the storm masked as an aura that made up the human's body and mind. It nearly ruptured the Pokemon's body from within as a consequence. And because of it, the fish never wanted to try again.
Not until it watched the careful Slowking interact with the human did Veluza try again.
Still no success, but after stewing in the stormy aura for a week, Veluza was pretty used to it. The consequence wasn't as severe, giving it a pounding headache instead. It tried again whenever the respected Doctor Osumi sat with the Marked human.
Then, Veluza noticed a wave of... emptiness approaching the sanctum? For the rest of its numb life, the Water-Psychic Pokemon would regret its ignorance.
Before anyone could react, a beam of pure annihilation tore into the metal vessel, the walls of the sanctum, the transparent tub, and bore upon the respected Healer of Aqua, Doctor Osumi, during her ritual of spiritual restoration with the one named Aric. It followed through, wedging the vessel into two with a path of ruin and the leftover blackened body of the Healer.
Veluza's gaze snapped to the tumbling of the patient of.. the once Healer Osumi and summoned all its might, if just to respect the Healer's final wish, heal the Marked One. It knew it couldn't quite control its movement outside the water, but something was better than nothing. That and there wasn't enough time to fret.
It launched itself with psionic force to tackle the falling boy. The Pokemon felt blood spill across its top fin and tried to ignore the implications. This temporary harm would be better than a permanent death. Then, the Mark kicked in, feeling harm come. Veluza bore the consequence with spasms that were unfamiliar to its numb body.
The arms of the Marked One embraced him, thanking and apologizing to the fish profusely, even though it was cutting his body further. It was only then did Veluza's body calm and lose consciousness for the first time in its short life.
The debt to the Healer of Aqua, Doctor Osumi, had yet to be repaid.
'Hopefully, in the Reverse World, she would forgive this little one for taking a rest when it was needed the most.'
As blood poured out my wounds and the spikes of the Pokemon in my arms threatened to stab me—much like my killer—I held it gingerly with a growing reverence. It saved me and knocked me out of my stupor, nearly bruising my ribs. It was the most amount of.. feeling I had since waking up.
Ah, but there was no time for this.
I only fell a single floor thanks to the gray Pokemon. I glanced up and found the.. my group of Tynamo's peering up to me in concern.
"Doctor Osumi! Aric?!" shouted a familiar voice. It was Nessa. "W-Who is..." I could hear despite all the noise of destruction ravaging in the background.
"Nessa! I'm down here!"
She didn't register it, so I tried my best to quickly climb to the other side. There, I found the girl with trembling hands to her mouth, staring at what was leftover of the good Doctor. I had to force myself to look away and focus on the situation at hand.
I don't really mind my own death and never really had. But after feeling it? I don't wish that pain on anyone else. And if I wanted to prevent it for them, I had to convince Nessa to move.
She had strong Pokemon and could save others.
I set the unfamiliar fish Pokemon in my arms down on some puddle of water. "Nessa," I forcibly turned her away, "W-We have to move." There was a pang of embarrassment as I had to look up to stare her in the eye, nevermind the whole mess going on. "You gotta go and save who you can."
She nodded, robotically. "Y.. Y-Yes! It's what.. Doctor Osumi would have done."
From the corner of my eyes, I spied two ball objects stuck under some rubble. They were the doctor's pokeballs, marred with scratches from their long use. I shoved the splintered rubble, nicking myself in the process, and the two Pokemon released themselves immediately.
A Slowking and Floatzel.
They both took in the area quickly. When their gaze fell upon their trainer, they both released an unconscious whine of defeat. Approaching the blackened and crumbling body with terribly hesitant steps, the two shed quick tears and shook their heads vigorously before Slowking summoned psychic powers and teleported the body elsewhere.
The two Pokemon then turned to the girl.
'[Healer-Friend Osumi wo... would want us to help with this disaster.]' The two bowed their heads to Nessa, '[Life-Guard Nessa, we are yours to command.]'
"O—," she choked on her spit and waved off their subsequent concern. "Okay," she said shakily. Her eyes glanced around as she palmed her pokeballs at the waist of her one-piece swimsuit.
"Slowking, I need you to use your telepathy to guide everyone to rafts, ice floats made with my Dewgong or lifeboats. Teleport those trapped or crushed if you can waste the energy. We.. They'll need to rely on your healing capabilities, so maybe that's a bad idea..."
She snatched two dive balls from her hip and sent out a Starmie and Dewgong.
"Starmie, can you focus on broadcasting directions? The sailors are busy trying to minimize further attacks from the rampaging Pokemon outside."
The back spikes of the 8-pronged starfish spun while its gem glowed.
"Okay," she started again, puffing her chest slightly. "Slowking, try teleporting those who need it the most. My Dewgong will set up floats. Floatzel, you'll be in the water, using your speed to grab anyone you can. There's a lot of.. Sharpedo's and Gyarados' so please be careful. They probably..."
Her eyes drifted back to the black ashes still left before she shut them and turned to me.
"You're still weakened so I can't in good faith ask that you do much." I moved to protest, but she cut me off, expecting as much, "I'll pass you my Feebas, and leave both she and my Dewgong in your care. Use the Tynamo's as clear signals but try not to draw too much attention."
I nodded and ignored the protest in my limbs to accept a net ball and another dive ball. "I'll treat them like... l-like..."
I struggled to find words, but Nessa didn't linger on it.
"Take care. I'll stay here with Starmie and Slowking and pull out those too injured to move or to save his energy. I still have my Drednaw and Lombre."
I didn't recognize Drednaw, but she seemed extra confident when she rolled the name off her tongue. Hopefully, it would help to hold her together. She was much too young to deal with something like this.
I started to leave but she caught one of my elbows. "If.. If you come across Elesa, p-please take her with you. She doesn't have all her Pokemon." It came across a little ominous, but I nodded again.
Then, the ship rocked again. Slowking easily caught each of us before Starmie and set us up right.
We both thanked the evolved Pokemon.
That gave me an idea. I peeked down the ruined tear that exposed the ocean. "Slowking, could you send me down there?"
It sent all the other injured Pokemon with me. At the bottom, Dewgong immediately got started on the ice float. I released her Feebas, and it seemed the gray Pokemon that saved me earlier was up already too. It only helped ferry Pokemon, as its sharp blades were too much for humans. That was okay. Feebas and my group of Tynamo's could manage any humans.
As Dewgong pulled out of the rift of ruin, I could only see the writhing bodies of Gyarados' and the lightning quick blades that were Sharpedos' top fin. They were busy attacking one another and being diverted by the sailors. Some of them noticed the oversized float and set some injured people while giving us an escort.
'[Injured-Marked One, there's an island nearby. The Water-Wards have locked on your signature. You need only to keep the casualties down and separated. The Life-Guard has updated us.]'
I sent what I hoped was a mental nod and turned to the white seal. "Dewgong, turn right 30°. There's a small island to gather everyone."
"Deeee!"
For ten minutes, I sorted all the people on the float. Some children were reconnected with their parents. There were some injured still out. I hope the creeping cold won't worsen anything.
It all went wrong very quickly.
An oversized blue fin lined with yellow stripes cut through the water with ease and crashed into the float. It broke off the section I was on. A part of me noticed blood from broken Tynamo, but I quickly focused on the unstable ice.
"Dewgong, focus on repairing the ice. Feebas, help up whoever you can! I'll be a distraction."
The seal hesitated before crying out an affirmative. Its move sparkled with ice energy before it began repairing the float. Feebas took quickly to the order, shoving or throwing people back onto the leaning ice. Whatever injuries it gave people would be much better than staying in the waters.
Honestly, I have no idea what I was going to do to an oversized Sharpedo, but it really didn't like the bed of flashing Tynamo. I watched it tear into the group again.
I grimaced. The rough skin was enough to shred some of them on contact outright.
My eyes spied sudden movement from a different kind of fin. It had blue spines, webbed in yellow and grew to a massive size as it rose. Then, at full height, it revealed a.. bulkier Gyarados than what I used to.
A mega, I could only think as I swallowed and fell onto my ass from the waves its mere presence caused.
It was charging a beam of familiar energy. The white energy that boiled the water was the same as the one that tore through the cruise. I was only thankful that it didn't seem to be targeting me.
I don't think it even registered me as a threat. It simply released the energy, beaming passed me to the oversized Sharpedo, who started cutting through the water quicker. The water and air seemed to boil as the monstrous sea serpent tracked the striped shark with what I assumed was a Hyper Beam.
It lasted for forever as I froze. The beam of death that killed Doctor Osumi had come so close so many times. All Gyarados had to do was get annoyed with me blocking sight of the shark, I'd be gone.
—A sharp prod drew me back though not too long after. It was the gray Pokemon. Its eyes seemed to plead something to me, pulling my drenched and burnt shirt.
A familiar head of blond was sinking. A teleport had gone wrong. It should've gone for Dewgong! It might've been before the attack, but I had missed her.
I glanced at the leftover Tynamo, who were much muted now, thankfully. "We need to grab her." Unova couldn't lose their gym leader. That would.. fuck up too many things that I couldn't begin to imagine.
The various other Sharpedo's and Gyarados' didn't seem to notice her, but I didn't want to take the chance for any longer. I leaped in, allowing the pink-finned Pokemon to drag me along as it understood the mission. I snatched the taller girl by the shirt and was immediately thankful that we were in the water.
Grabbing her and staining my arm to hold onto her and the Pokemon hurt like a bitch. But it was bearable because the water lessened the load. I got her head out of the water, where she sputtered water unconsciously.
"To the island!" I commanded.
The Tynamo lit the path through the smoked and debris-filled water. It hadn't yet gain the attention of any Pokemon, but I didn't want to risk it. I apologized internally for pushing injured Pokemon but nonetheless, we had to get to safety yesterday!
"Faster!"
It seemed to do something for the Pokemon. Water rushed past us, and everything blurred. I had to hug Elesa to me with a trembling arm, hoping I could last.
I did. Just barely.
The Tynamo that took a ride on the streamline, held up Elesa for me. While the sharp Pokemon I held onto found a save area to show and conserve energy.
My gaze fleeted up. A smile broke across my face. The mentioned island was awfully close. Dewgong and Feebas were still nabbing the people teleporting into the water. There was a limit to those who could teleport? Maybe, it was because this was an unfamiliar place? Too much stress? To save energy?
I shook my head. I could think about that later.
Feebas instantly turned and approached the familiar figure of Elesa. It dragged her to the shore where some people helped lay her against the sand. One checked to see if she was breathing.
They sent me a thumbs up, and I deflated in relief and nodded. I don't know if they could see it, but I turned back to the growing wreckage. The sailors had given up on preserving the ship and were making their way here, dragging supplies.
A sudden wave nearly tossed me onto my fish. A raged-filled Gyarados rose beside me, staring me down as its crest charged with yellow energy. A thunderbolt, I vaguely recognized. There was only a split second before the attack launched.
It arced my way—only for it to make a sharp right. The attack blasted my bed of eels. Elesa never said they could have the ability lightning rod!
It stunned the Atrocious Pokemon. No one was expecting that. But it quickly moved to ready another attack.
The fish under me didn't freeze up again. It tore us away immediately with extreme prejudice. I was nearly sent off from the force. Thankfully, it just in time to get us out of the crossfire of the sailors who came to my aid.
The sparkling eels followed. Unintentionally, they seemed to grab the attention of the swarm of Carvanha and a couple of Sharpedo. I squeezed my eyes. I didn't want to abandon the eels, but they couldn't go to the island for safety and risk dragging the piranhas.
...I came to a decision.
I nudged the sharp fish under me left, away from the island. The eels followed. I waited for the swarm of darkness to get closer.
"Launch us out of the water!"
The fish pulled to a sudden stop and flung us out.
"Release all that energy, Tynamo!"
They didn't listen to the good Doctor when she requested because I assumed she wasn't me. Elesa mentioned how the young Tynamo charged energy in a group to protect themselves. It seemed like the best time to put it to the test. They had been overcharged already and re-energized with a strong thunderbolt. The little buggers didn't seem to have any limit to what they could absorb so far.
Still, the eels had yet to disappoint.
Yellow electric energy erupted from them, bouncing between them, growing with each pulse. In the next instant, the energy boomed outward with a thunder, consuming the water and life around. It gave me a minor jolt in the air. It reached even the large Gyarados we escaped from and fried it. It struggled to escape and once it did by trying to leap out of the water, it was blasted out with electrical feedback, sounding like thunder again.
It was out before it hit the water.
It didn't need to be said that nearly the rest of the swarm that filled the water full of Carvanhas, Sharpedos, and Gyarados was incapacitated in one go. The problem was that it only seemed to piss off the Mega Gyarados and what I assumed was some kind of Mega Sharpedo.
I should've really paid more attention to the revealed Megas...
Either way, they turned my way, seeing a common enemy. The shark wasted no time and shot through the eels like a cannonball. I wasn't allowed to cringe as the blood and their white skins smeared itself across its rough skin.
The Gyarados sent a Hyper Beam my way. The sharp fish in my arms dodged by shooting us in the opposite direction of its fired water. It continued to trace our movements before we fell back into the murky water.
It nearly got us when we rentered the water, but thankfully, it saw no point in recklessly expending massive amounts of energy if it couldn't see us clearly. Instead, it dove under, bulldozing anything in its way.
My eyes widened underwater.
It was tracking the last of the Tynamo, who was retreating my way. The massive sea serpent was smart enough to realize where it was heading.
I didn't blame the little eel since it has worked to save me the first time around. However, the world was very humorous if it was going to take me out because of that.
—A line of scarred Sharpedo rammed against the Gyarados with enough force to blow me away. I was sent tumbling head over heels under water
The gray fish reoriented us up. Just in time too. I needed to breathe.
I gasped for air as we resurfaced. I ignored the cuts I accumulated and the numb throbbing of all my shoulders and arms. As I did so, I scanned the area. Various speed boats had come to our rescue. Painted on them was a familiar symbol, on the blue background. It was Team Aqua.
They collaborated with the sailors to get a handle on the two megas, having distracted the Mega Sharpedo when I was focused on the Gyarados. However, a waterspout shot the Sharpedo's back. The Mega Gyarados roared so loud it made waves that nearly swallowed me, reaching the shores of the island. Its gaze zeroed in on me. Again, it cleaved through the water, ignoring everything to repay the electrical attack.
This time, it didn't underestimate the fish in my arms by going much faster on top of charging an attack. Dark energy collected in its gaping maw and for a second, it met my eyes. Its eyes glowed red and narrowed.
Then, a dolphin-shaped Pokemon uppercutted the Gyarados out of the water before anyone could react. "Pala-FIN!" The shockwave from the attack threw me back again much further than anything else has. The final issue before I succumbed to my exhaustion and released my hold, and I wasn't the only one. The Pokemon that was my safety net this whole time went limp, and we sank.
The final Tynamo nudged me. By itself, the tiny eel wouldn't be enough to drag me, nevermind my savior fish too. It knew that, and I found my body being dragged further underwater. I fell into a tidal current underwater, feeling the sudden change in temperature.
My lungs grew too hot, and despite knowing better, I gasped for air.
My vision dimmed, watching the bubbles escape me. A shadow overtook it. Tynamo swam up to meet it without a hint of fear.
"Man Mantine?"
"Namo!"
All around me, I could only see gray. The scratchy texture of the color was what I imagined stormy clouds looked from up close. I couldn't touch or feel really, but I felt wet, and energized like never before. There was too much energy. Something was going to give, and some part of me thought it was going to be me.
I heard something. A rumbling of some kind. It thundered closer and closer until it stopped.
"...Tropius?"
I jolted upright, ignoring the strain on my still weakened body. All I could see was a red dinosaur. It was familiar, but I could never recall this Pokemon coming in red. I wasn't much of a shiny collector. I did have a friend who was one though. I'd imagine if Tropius did have a red shiny, it would be more popular.
The Pokemon wasn't as tall as I imagined, so I assumed it was on the younger side. With a tilt of its head, it decided on something.
Using one of its wings, it blew a fruit from its neck my way. It wasn't like the banana shapes which hung from their species' neck. Instead, it was a long spiky fruit.
"Troo.." It urged, patiently.
I decided not to look the gift horse in the mouth and bit into the fruit. It was totally different from anything I expected. Slightly salty. The texture of a peach and a citrus fruit. The aftertaste was sweet and stunk to the lining of my throat. It smelled rather poor though. Fishy. However, my hunger kicked in, and it quickly became the tastiest thing I've had since my second life.
As I licked the juices of my finger, I snapped out of my stupor to scan the area.
There was a pond nearby, where Tynamo flashed excitedly at my attention and the gray Pokemon blinked at me in mild surprise. Past the pool, there were some coconut trees, some minor greenery, revealing a large mound of rocks, but not much else. I was near the edge of a short cliff, overlooking at the stormy ocean.
"Where are we?" I asked aloud, not really expecting any answers.
"Trop."
"Tynamo!"
"Right. No idea." I tried to rise, but I slipped, feeling a jolt of pain for the first time since I got here. My left ankle was swollen and probably fractured, if not broken. This sucked.
"Trooop," it said before galloping away. It wasn't as awkward as I thought it would be. I kinda wanted to see it fly if I wasn't so afraid it might blow over the edge of the cliff.
It returned shortly. It was using a pair of vines to hold out a red leaf-wrapped box? Basket? It deposited with the eagerness of a dog who had just fetched the thrown toy and lowered its head.
I wasn't expecting a bunch of wreckage.
"T-Thank you, Tropius." I pet its red head. From up close, I could inspect it closer. The red portions were actually leaf-shaped scales that were half an inch (1.27cm) thick, layered on one another. They weren't sharp but the ends were pointed enough to puncture, so I was careful with what direction I petted the Fruit Pokemon.
I continued scratching underneath its chin, knowing how raw my sea-borne skin was, and rummaged through the pile with my other. There were a couple Pokeballs. I hoped they were empty, and Tynamo or whatever hadn't accidentally stolen someone's mons. That would be awkward to say the least. There was a bunch of junk to sift out. I came across some useful stuff. A good knife and its sheath. A PokeNav (the name was etched onto the back; I wouldn't have recognized it otherwise). A collapsed stick?
Oh, fuck yes!
I nearly gasped as I found a white medkit of sorts, larger than anything I've seen. I cracked it open, hoping it was without water. My hopes rang true and then some. From all kinds of bandages and miniature tools to a mini flame-retarded blanket and vials of various liquids, this pack had it all with no sign of water. I wasted no time and wrapped up my ankle. After tying it tightly, I peered at one of the vials. Made from oran berries and a bunch of other things, it was supposed to help swelling. And it was safe for human use.
I grumbled as I struggled to undo my random knot. The label said to rub a little on the affected area. I didn't notice it until now, but my arms were shaking a ton. Tropius figured it out before I did, holding the vial still before I spilled the liquid with a vine.
"Thanks again, buddy." What a kind Pokemon.. It certainly helped beat back any poor impressions I had of wild Pokemon haha...
It only yelped its name in response, gently taking it from my grasp. "Tropius!" It looked at me for instructions.
"Just.." It was still weird to accept help. But, I had no other choice. "Just pour a lil bit on my swollen ankle, please?" I pointed at the area just in case. It nodded with narrowed eyes and tipped the vial over slightly. Slowly, it dripped it. "That's enough," I reached over to rub the liquid in and quickly rewrap the wound.
Again, Tropius beat me to it with another pair of red vines.
I let it and watched the Pokemon do work. With nimble and serrated vines that I admired from up close, it redid my handy work thoroughly. It even went as far as to tie it tight but not overly so. With a flick, it sliced off the extra bandage.
That was when I began to feel the rain from the approaching storm. It was very cold even through my moist clothing. That wasn't a good sign.
"Hey, Tropius. You wouldn't happen to have a shelter?"
The Sauropod-like Pokemon blinked at me, then the storm before turning to the rock mound past the trees. "Trop!" Two vines, less sharp from the pair before, wrapped around my waist. I only barely managed to grab a hold of the box of items before it hoisted me onto its back, in the center of the four leaf-wings. I was seated backwards and spied various bird Pokemon flying away from the storm as well.
Birds eat fish, right?
"T-Tropius," It was a jumbly ride; I don't normally stutter. "Wait a second!" It stopped quickly. I fished for the pokeballs and called out to the two Pokemon who saved me. Tynamo couldn't float like they were supposed to and was bound to dry out on land. The gray Pokemon was a fish. And, I have no idea if it could breathe air.
"Tynamo and uh- you gray fish! There's some birds coming. I'd feel bad to leave you guys by yourselves." I showed them the two pokeballs, "I can put you inside this device, like you saw Doctor Osumi do, right?" I hoped they said yes. I'm sure they were too tired to fight any OTHER predator.
The Tynamo only flickered rapidly with a sharp cry of its name, "Tynamo!"
Whereas the fish simply shot water towards the trees. I assume that was a yes... I would capture it either way, based on principle alone.
I pressed the only button on the two balls. I tossed them forward with an underhand throw, ignoring the flare of pain in my shoulder. Holding tight on the fish as it tore through the water really stressed my arms, I guess. With a red flash, the two aquatic Pokemon entered the balls. Tropius was left staring in shock and confusion.
I simply patted its neck with a wry smile. Either way, I caught my first and second Pokemon! ...I would've cheered if I wasn't so hurt or strapped to a miniature dinosaur. I swear! This was a dream come true, y'know, minus getting a starter and whatnot.
I still have no idea how this pokeball technology worked, but I was glad to be able to protect the two. Especially the tiny Tynamo who's family risked everything for me. I—I quickly moved on from that train of thought, feeling more chilling rain impact me.
"They're safe with me. If you can bring the balls back to me, Tropius?" Gingerly, the red Grass-Flying type wrapped a vine around both and plopped them into my hands. "To the shelter?"
The Pokemon nodded, gently galloping this time.
It only took us about five minutes to traverse the miniature "jungle." There, I peeked a cave over both mine and the Pokemon's shoulder. So, that was where it stayed. It had stayed out to oversee us. What a kind soul. Seemingly domesticated too. I deserve a break after almost dying, at least, three times, right? I'm fairly sure Mega Pokemon aren't supposed to be common..
I patted the back of the Pokemon. "Could you let me down?" My ankle felt much better. Everything was still mostly numb, but it wasn't throbbing. I was pretty sure I could walk if I had help.
I replaced myself with the cart of items and leaned on the Pokemon to venture into the cave. As my eyes attuned themselves to the darkness, I heard a loud rumble—like one from something breathing loudly. It came from above.
Laying across a jutting slab, a dragon stared me down.

Aes (AN): Nothing wanted to be written except this story. 4k words of notes for the many story beats: the team, secret reveals, and all of their growth. The last one is my favorite. The issue is- I just gotta get there first. Also, I wanted to dip my toes into changes with Pokemon that I could do/get away with, starting with different abilities and variant Pokemon of my own creation.
The plan is for him to recover and gather five Pokemon before he can make it to civilization either with the last one's help or from being finally rescued. So, please look forward to it.
