I felt like an idiot. Apparently, I should have spent a little longer on Google, and then I wouldn't have been taken so unawares by the fact that my father was IRONMAN! He was one of the Avengers! That was insane. I was still reeling over it, and it had been almost 24 hours since I'd almost sent Tony into a conniption fit when he'd learned I hadn't known that fact about him. He'd spluttered indecipherably for a few minutes before finding his composure and grandly gesturing at himself while stating "I'm Ironman." We'd discussed it for a bit longer (though I'll admit, most of it was a blur and I didn't remember much beyond those initial comments) before calling it quits for the night. He'd brought me to a hotel where he tried to get me a penthouse suite before I talked him down to a 'modest' one bedroom suite with a kitchenette, living room, and unlimited room service. I'd sat on the couch for awhile gazing in wonder at my surroundings, as it finally started to sink in what it meant to be the daughter of a billionaire.

Of course, I was still very much taken aback by all the casual luxury, very much evidenced by my inability to process thought for the first few minutes after I entered the fricken' limo I was currently a passenger in. To be slightly fair to myself, I was also a bit of a nervous wreck, since the reason for my being chauffeured (I had a chauffeur!) was because I was on my way back to Stark Tower, this time to get to meet the Avengers. And in what I was starting to recognized as Tony's style, I was being sprung upon them—he'd simply called a meeting, but refused to tell them why.

It would be my first time being introduced to anyone as Tony's daughter. I was incredibly anxious. What if they hated me? What if they tried to convinced Tony to throw me back out on the street? I took a deep breath. So, what if they did? Tony had made it pretty clear he was fully invested in me being his daughter and being in his life. And he didn't really seem like the kind of guy to listen to anyone else when there was something he wanted.

The car pulled up in front of the tower, which seemed no less imposing or terrifying than when I'd showed up yesterday without any idea of how the day would go, and I got out of the car on shaking legs. Tony had only given instructions until this point, so I hesitated, unsure where to go until I saw him wave through the glass doors towards me. I exhaled and headed inside to meet him.

He smiled warmly at me, "Hi Y/n, everything going well? The hotel suited you okay? The drive over went well?" He peered concerningly at me, "You've eaten today?"

I laughed, "Everything is fine, Tony. Great, even. And yes, I've eaten. You don't need to be such a worrywart."

He shot me a sideways mock glare, "Don't tell me what to do, kid, I am your father."

I stuck my tongue out at him, "Don't tell me what to do, old man, and we'll call it even."

A light chuckle came from behind me, and I spun around to see a gorgeous blonde walking over to us, nicely dressed in a cream business skirt and blazer. She gave me a subtle appraising look, not unkindly, and bumped her shoulder into Tony's as her eyes crinkled affectionately at him, "She really is your daughter, Tony."

She turned to me, gracefully extending out her hand, which I quickly reached out to shake. She smiled, "Hi Y/n, I'm Pepper Potts."

The girlfriend! I had to bite my tongue to refrain from saying that out loud, instead sending a quick glare at my father for the lack of warning, before turning back to her, nervously replying, "Hi, Ms. Potts. Tony mentioned you last night, it's nice to meet you."

She smiled warmly, "You can call me Pepper. And it's nice to meet you too."

She turned to Tony, her tone becoming more business-like, "I need your signature on some paperwork, Tony. Can you review it while Y/N gets registered?"

He nodded then seem to catch my questioning look, "You need to get registered for a security card, Y/N, that way you can get access to the Tower. I've already run the background check so you're clear to go, they just need to ask you a few profile questions and get your fingerprint, and facial and voice recognition scans."

"You did a background check on me!? And without tellingme! What the hell? What do you think I'm going to do, steal company secrets?"

He winced, "Of course, not. But this card gives you access not only to my penthouse, but to a lot of Stark Industries. It's standard business protocol for a background check to be run before that kind of access can be granted. I'd be facing a lot of questions from the board for letting someone in without doing that first— even if you are my daughter. And yes, I should have told you, but in all honesty, I forgot that it was a thing until I'd already returned home and I didn't want to disturb you that late."

I blew out my breath, "Fine."

He eyed me warily, seeming uncertain as to whether he'd actually abated my anger. I smiled reassuringly at him, pushing down my quick-to-flare temper, "I understand now, I promise. You're okay. Now, who do I need to see about the card?"

Relief flooded his features and he led me over to a woman, "This is Olivia, she'll take care of the particulars with you." I nodded and he gave me one last look, seemingly reassuring himself once more that everything was okay, and turned back to Pepper and the folder she carried.

I turned to Olivia, "Hi Olivia, just tell me what you need."

She smiled at me, "Hello Y/N. So first, just a few questions to complete your profile, first, I understand you are Mr. Stark's daughter, but he did not provide me with a last name. Do you use his?"

I shook my head, "No, my last name is Y/l/n." I spelled it for her and she nodded along as she typed.

We went over date of birth and a few other security questions which included the creation of a verbal identifier. I had difficulty coming up with one, but Tony had come back over at that point, and suggested Surprise Stark which made me laugh, "Sure, let's go with that." He grinned and wrapped his arm over my shoulders in a little half-hug, pulling me towards him slightly and I leaned into the movement, making his grin grow even wider.

Olivia did a facial scan from multiple angles, had me record my verbal identifier a few times, then took both my fingerprints and full handprint, before declaring me good to go. She handed me a gold card with a black engraved number 4, and we were on our way. I held the card up to Tony, "Four?"

He shrugged, "You're the fourth person to get that level of card. Myself, obviously, Pepper, the intern I told you about, and now you."

I raised my eyebrows, "Not even the Avengers?"

He shook his head, "Nope, they get access to the main penthouse rooms, but this gives access to the personal penthouse suites too. Which I save as an avenger-free zone."

Wow. I felt special. I idly wondered what made the intern so special that he got this rare access as well, but figured I'd find out eventually anyways, so didn't bother asking. We entered the elevator, Tony pressed a blank gold button and the Irish voice once more came from nowhere, "Identification needed." Tony gestured at me, and I hesitantly said, "Surprise Stark."

Irish Lady responded, "Identification confirmed" and with a chime, the elevator began smoothly moving upwards.

I turned to Tony, "Who's the Irish Lady?"

"Oh, that's FRIDAY. She's my AI." At my blank look, he proceeded to explain about his collection of Artificial Intelligences that were wired throughout Stark Industries, the penthouse, all his mobile devices, including vehicles, and in his Ironman suits. I just nodded along, trying to pretend like all these obvious displays of not only his wealth, but also his scientific genius weren't at all intimidating. Or hurting my head.

The elevator glided to a stop and my stomach clenched before exploding into a bunch of butterflies. I cast a nervous glance at Tony as I followed him down the hallway, "Do you think they'll like me?"

He looked at me surprised, then probably noting the anxious way I was biting my lip, turned to face me full on, resting his hands on my shoulder. "They'll love you."

I nodded slowly, taking a deep breath before smiling up at him and trying to summon all the courage I'd require. He smiled back at me, gave my shoulders a quick squeeze, and we continued down the hall.

His hand on the doors, he winked at me, "You got this, kid", and pushed them open dramatically as he called out, "Okay people, it's who you've all been waiting for!"

Everyone looked over at us, looks of annoyance at Tony switching to confusion as they spotted me half behind him. Captain America, Black Widow, and Hawkeye were all sitting on one of the long couches, Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch, and Vision on the other. Thor was sitting in an armchair, with Loki leaning against the wall behind him, next to the fireplace. On the other side of the fireplace leaned the Iron Patriot, and pacing behind Captain America's couch was The Falcon. I felt a little proud of myself for recognizing them all—I'd done some research earlier this day wanting to know more about the people I'd be meeting. Dr. Banner (whom I had since realized was the Hulk) sat in another armchair, smiling at me reassuringly. I gave a small smile back.

Captain America nodded his head at me, "What's this about, Tony? I hope you don't expect us to be doing any babysitting."

Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Tony's mock horrified expression, "God, no. I wouldn't trust any of you to watch my kid."

There was a pause while they waited for Tony to answer the first part of what Captain America had said, and then the Black Widow's eyes widened, "No, Tony, you don't mean that—"

Tony grinned, "Oh, but I do mean." He reached over and gently pulled me over to stand beside him, giving a slight bow as he gave me an over-elaborate sideways wave, "I'd like you all to meet my tragically long lost daughter, Y/N Y/l/n."

I muttered under my breath, "Wow, you really don't do subtle, do you."

Ignoring my comment, even though I know he'd heard it, Tony continued, "And the good doctor over there can confirm it, in case you doubt me." He gestured at Dr. Banner. Black Widow followed the movement, raising an eyebrow at Dr. Banner, and everyone turned with her. Dr. Banner flushed as he was faced with several inquisitive expressions.

He cleared his throat, "Yes, she's Tony daughter. I did the DNA test myself."

Hawkeye leaned back, an amused expression on his face, "Oh, this is going to be good."

Loki leaned forwards, slightly raising his arm, "I'm sorry, but am I supposed to care?"

Tony glared at him, but Thor responded before he could, "Yes, brother. Stark has discovered offspring, this is a momentous occasion!" He raised his fist in a cheers! motion, "Celebration is needed!"

And just like that, everyone began offering various forms of well wishes, mixed with other little comments to one another, like Quicksilver leaning towards his sister to say "Didn't see that coming."

Questions also obviously abounded over what exactly had happened, and finally Tony began to yell over everyone, "Shu-shu-shu-shush! Everybody shush it! We'll have story time in a moment, but first, I'd like to actually do some proper introductions, you're all being very rude."

Several people rolled their eyes, including me. But, they all quieted down and I followed Tony around the room as he brought me over one by one to each person.

"This is Vision, I made him. So I guess he's the closest thing you have to a brother."

The synthezoid gave me a polite smile, "I believe Mr. Stark is incorrect, as I am not biologically connected to him, thus I am not your sibling. Nevertheless, it is a pleasure to meet you, Y/N."

I smiled back, but before I could respond, Tony was already moving on, "These are the Maximoff twins. This is Wanda, her and Vision kinda have a thing," he made a vague gesture with his hand, "which we all pretend isn't weird." I gave her a little wave and was rewarded with a warm smile, before tuning back into Tony, "And this is Pietro, he runs."

Pietro took my hand in his and leaned forward to give it a kiss, "It's lovely to meet you, Y/N"

Tony smacked his hand away, and pointed his finger in his face, "Hands off, Speedy!", then quickly pulled me along away from him and over towards the gods.

He gave Loki a leery look, and kept me at his side, his arm extended protectively in front of me as he addressed him, "Don't even think about trying anything with her, Reindeer Games." Loki feigned a look of innocence, but the second Tony turned back to face me, it turned into a sly grin and he winked at me. I bit back a laugh as Tony waved dismissively at the God of Mischief, telling me, "Loki." before gesturing to the blonde-haired god, "and this is Pointbreak."

The God of Thunder glared at him, then met my eyes and very pointedly and seriously told me, "Thor."

I gave him a sweet smile, "Lovely to meet you, Pointbreak."

Tony gave a loud laugh, and I heard a comment from somewhere behind us, along the lines of 'definitely his." I idly wondered how many times I was going to hear that.

We crossed to the other side of the fireplace, where Tony clapped the man's shoulder, "This is Rhodey, we go way back."

Rhodey shook my hand and stage whispered, "Run, while you still can!"

I grinned and Tony gave him a mock glare, leading me onwards.

We bypassed Bruce, Tony dismissing him with a little wave and a 'You've already met."

"This is Sam. He likes to pretend he's a bird."

"Hey!"

Next was Hawkeye, "This would be Clint. Don't stand between him and a target, kid." Clint chuckled, "He's not exactly wrong. It's nice to meet you, Y/N."

"You to—"

"And this is Natasha, she can be mean but don't let it get to you, she's like that with everyone." She gave a sardonic smile to Tony, but it softened when she turned to me, a glint in her eye, "Actually, it's just him."

I took a deep breath as we approached the last person in the room, and even I could feel the slight tension between them. "Captain America. Steve Rogers. The great war hero. Also great keeper of secrets—remind me to tell you about your grandparents sometime."

I gave Tony a confused glance wondering what he meant by that, then turned back to Steve, cutting him off before he could speak, "I've heard a lot about you, Steve. My grandmother talked about you all the time."

I heard an annoyed "Oh great, she's a fan" muttered by Tony, but ignored it and kept going.

"Not the Captain America you, though. She mostly talked about you being around pre-war. Said you were at her house so much, sometimes she forgot you didn't actually live there."

I could practically feel everyone's eyes on us as he leaned forward, a confused expression on his face, "Maybe she had me confused—"

"Oh no, that woman was sharp as a whistle until the end. She knew what she was talking about. She referred to you as a naïve young boy, with a good heart. Always said that's why you and her brother got along so well, he had a heart of gold too. But he also had more bravery than brains."

I looked down, "That's what she said got him killed, but she was always so proud of him."

Steve barely looked like he was breathing, and like he wanted to stop me but didn't know how. How bizarre. The faint sound of the elevator dinging echoed in the quiet of the room.

I shrugged, a fond smile on my lips, "You know, she would tell anyone that would listen, that her big brother had been a sergeant during the war. Sergeant James Buchanan Barnes."

There was a collective gasp, someone swore, and a very angry sounding "What?" came from behind me.

I spun around, accidentally making eye contact with a man who had just entered the room, the soft lighting reflecting off his metal arm.

Author's note: Y/n gets to meet some more Avengers in this one! I feel like I'm going to be better at writing some characters than others, so I apologize for any that come across awkward, and any feedback/advice is always appreciated :p (not just for character vibes, for anything). Also, yes, I've raised people from the dead for this; it's for the *plot* and also I just like the characters :p And may have slight attachment issues, whatever.
