Okay, so I was planning to make this a once-a-month thing, but with how much support this has been getting, I'll boost it to two chapters a month. I'm making no promises because I have ADHD and horrible time management. Either way, here's a second chapter for y'all. By the way, these chapters may be random in length, but expect 2k words or more. Also, a quick note: I originally planned on making Jack the main character. But who knows, maybe I still can. Either way, I don't own MGE or Bioshock. Only any OCs I may or may not use in this story.
(?)
Illia was a Valkyrie tasked by the Chief God to help eliminate a monster village near their holy land. Without any hesitation, she took the mission. As usual, it went flawlessly—well, almost flawlessly, as a monster child had escaped along with a human heathen child. But it didn't matter as she sent three of her subordinates after them, all of whom were heroes chosen by the Chief God.
As they set up camp amidst the ruins of the monster village, Illia awaited the return of the three heroes. But when they failed to appear, she dispatched others to search for them. Their return was accompanied by a wave of unsettling news.
Illia trembled with disbelief, her hand crashing down on the table in anger and shock. Standing before her, the scout recounted their grim discovery in her tent.
"I-I-It's as we said; when we arrived, the heroes, Alan and Trish, were found dead! But w-we have recovered and brought their bodies here." Replied the man, stuttering in nervousness at the now-angry Valkyrie.
"What about Ollie?"
"Ollie's body was found in shattered pieces of ice. At first, we didn't know who it was until we saw a familiar mark on the frozen flesh."
'That's... disturbing.' Thought Illia, but shaking her head, she looked at the scout again. "Did you find the perpetrators that did this?"
"No, when we arrived, there was no one else there. But we did find very deep and big footprints." That sounds promising. Nodding her head at the scout, Illia spoke.
"Wind up the troops; we're going after a hero killer. Anyone who disobeys and harms the subordinates of the Chief God will pay with their lives!" The scout instantly saluted before exiting the tent. As Illia watched the man exit, she wondered what creature would do this? She has yet to see any mamono near here capable of using ice magic. Nor have there been any murders of heroes in a long time. Usually, heroes are turned to the Demon Lord's side.
Exiting the tent, Illia wanted to see the state of her fellow companions' fate. When she reached the two bodies covered in white tarp, she threw one of them off. She instantly released a gasp of surprise when she saw the state of Alan's body. His midsection has a gaping hole, and it looks like it was brutally blended. When she reached for the other tarp, she saw Trish's corpse. Her condition wasn't as bad as Alan's. Instead, she had a small hole in her forehead.
Covering them both back, Illia could only think of one thing. 'This isn't the work of any monster I've seen or heard of.'
(Delta)
Delta couldn't afford a room with two beds for him and the children, so he compromised and bought a room with one bed instead. When they entered the room, the children immediately jumped on the bed and began playing. As Delta scanned the room, he saw it wasn't that special. It had one large bed, a desk with a chair, and a simple wardrobe. Overall, it was a very normal, if old-looking, inn.
Looking back at the children, he saw them playing with the pillows. But as it was getting late, Delta would put them to bed. Though they did complain a bit, with a stern look from him, they conceded instantly. As Delta tucked them in, he went to sit on the chair. But as soon as he did, it broke under his weight, which startled both the children. Once they realized what had happened, they burst out laughing. But after that ended, they went to sleep, occasionally letting out some small giggles.
The next day was eventful. Delta told the innkeeper what happened, and they weren't pleased. But he tried to convey that he'd pay it off. But with all the whale groans he could only produce, he couldn't convince them. So, his only choice was to pay it off by helping around the inn or taking another odd job. Delta would've taken the inn job if only he wasn't a behemoth of a man (And a genetically spliced one at that). Plus, he most likely would've caused more damage if he did.
So the odd job Delta decided to take was, well, construction. They easily accepted him due to his strength and height. Plus, his telekinesis plasmid helped a lot as well. But he did find it strange that most of the workers were females with horns, hooves, and cow tails. And he did hate how little clothing they wore. He definitely doesn't want the children near them. But he did have to admit they were strong and helpful. One did try asking him out, but he politely refused.
After getting paid for the day, he made a good sum of 50 silver. So, returning to the inn, he paid for the damages to the chair, another night in the inn, and some food for himself and the children. Who was very happy to see him again and have a meal. As they ate, Delta was approached by the innkeeper's wife.
"Glad to see you didn't bail on us from destroying property." Said a woman whose voice was soft and kind. Turning his head to the voice, he saw that it was the innkeeper's wife, Cass. She was a woman of normal size who had feathers on her arm, head, and tail and was wearing a maid dress. She was also the one who was kind enough to care for the children while Delta was away working. Plus, she said it was good for her own daughter to have playmates. "Don't worry about my husband earlier; he gets quite serious about this place. After all, it's what feeds us." finishing with a sweet smile.
Having his helmet off, Delta smiled back at her and nodded in understanding.
"Also, no offense. If you wish to heal all your injuries, we have someone willing to fix all that up for you. The more serious it is, the less she'll charge you. But with your case, she may do it for free." As soon as he heard that, Delta couldn't help but think of the other deformed doctors he had seen in Rapture. But he quickly reminded himself this wasn't Rapture anymore. Still, it wouldn't hurt to check them out. He may be able to speak again as well.
Nodding at her in thanks, she smiled and quickly curtsied before leaving to take care of other patrons. Delta, the two children then continued to eat their meals before retreating to their room for the night. But before he was about to put them to bed, Eillie asked him a question.
"Mr. Drill, why do you wear all that stuff?" As she curiously stared at him while she sat on the edge of the bed frame. The question also caught Pete's attention, who was also curious about it. Delta would've answered her question if he could, but he made it obvious to her when all he could produce was whale sounds. The girl gave him a sad look before speaking again. "Did the bad people take your voice too?" Delta nodded, and Ellie only released a small sniffle at that. "You're too nice for bad things to happen to you." She said, sounding on the verge of tears. Pete, too, looked just as sad but not as willing to cry as Ellie.
Picking Ellie up, Delta comforted her and made soothing whale sounds towards her, which did manage to calm her down. But as Delta Soothed her, he thought of something. He did have a plasmid that was used to cure little sisters from their conditions. If Ellie had a condition that made her part cat, he may be able to cure her. But if it doesn't, and this was her natural look, then no harm would be done to her either way.
(Rescue little sister theme right here.)
Holding Ellie in one arm, she stared curiously at him, wondering what he was trying to do. Delta placed his hand on her head, and the effect was instant: white veins appeared all over her body. She then went more limp, as her whole body was covered in white before quickly disappearing. Ellie remained unchanged but limp in Delta's arms, and her eyes were closed. A bit panicked, Delta shook her a bit, and he got a reaction from her. She curled up in his arms and released a groan of displeasure at being shaken.
Releasing a sigh of relief, Delta placed Ellie on the bed and pulled the blankets over her. But Delta did notice one thing when he cured her. He felt his Adam reserves increase and felt slightly stronger. Not thinking too much of it, Delta just continued to cover up Eillie. As for Pete, who saw the whole thing, he looked at Delta curiously about what he had done to Ellie.
"What was that?" Delta patted his head and reassured him that Ellie was okay. Seeing no reason to distrust him, Pete got under the blankets with Ellie and got comfortable. "Goodnight, Mr. Drill." Delta groaned as a way to say goodnight before he went to lie down on the floor to sleep. Which had a mattress on it since he was too heavy for the bedframe. He would've also taken the suit off if it hadn't fused to him like a second layer of skin. But he didn't mind since he could find comfort in it after being in the suit for his whole time in Rapture. Finally finding a comfortable position, Delta soon drifted off to sleep.
During the night, Pete awoke Delta a few times to use the restroom, but overall, he had a well-rested night. So when light began to shine through the window, he began to get up. As he got up, Delta saw Ellie and Pete sleeping peacefully together. Not wanting to disturb them yet, he quietly left the room.
Going down the stairs, he saw Cass at the counter, already cleaning and preparing for the day. She instantly noticed his descent and greeted him with a good morning.
"Morning Sir. Did you rest well?" Delta nodded at her question as he stood in front of the counter. "Would you like breakfast? My husband is cooking some breakfast at the moment. Just some simple eggs and pancakes. Though it will cost you three silver each." Delta got out nine pieces of silver and placed them on the counter for her. "Alright, three eggs and pancakes are coming up. If you wish to wake the children up, it won't be long before the food is ready." She said, smiling at him before retreating into the back to retrieve the food.
Heading back up to the room, Delta passed by other occupants who were also just waking up. Reaching the room, Delta wakes Ellie and Pete, who are unwilling to budge. Not taking no for an answer, Delta lets out a loud roar to wake them, which works and also gives them quite a fright. More so with Ellie, who managed to let out a yowl and clung to the ceiling of their room.
The way down was also quite amusing, as the children waddled their way down with tired faces. As they reached the counter, Cass was already ready with their plates, placing them in front of them. Slowly but surely, they began to eat their breakfast.
Cass let out a small giggle, seeing their looks. "They remind me of my daughter when I had to wake her up to help around the inn. She always hated the mornings but eventually got used to it. That doesn't mean she hated them less," she said as she left, chuckling to herself. Delta laughed at that as he indulged in his own breakfast. Once done, he left them in the care of Cass, and he went to work in the construction area again.
Delta worked fewer hours than yesterday as he wanted to visit the healers before they closed, which the boss understood as he did see Delta's face in the inn once. So, paying him 30 silver for the day, Delta went to the healer, hoping to get his voice back.
When Delta arrived at the location, he entered. Inside, he saw a few others who were injured. One was a normal woman with a broken arm, the other was a snake woman with a large cut on her tail, and lastly, a horned woman who looked like she had a cold. There wasn't any reception or anything to tell him what to do, so he simply waited in a corner. Not long later, a small child with a large hat exited the door, and a man simply thanked her for her service.
"Alright, who's next?" Slowly, the woman with the broken arm raised her hand. "Alright, let's get you fixed." But before she did, she quickly saw Delta and stared at him wide-eyed. "Are you okay!?" She said quickly, getting up close to him. "I can't even sense no mana on you. How are you even alive?" she said as she circled him. But Delta quickly put a hand on her shoulder and nodded his head that he was okay. Still unsure, the child returned to the patient she was originally going to take, and they quickly disappeared behind the door.
Delta didn't have to wait too long as whoever the healer was took care of the patients quickly. Delta saw them exit the room one by one, looking better than when they had entered. When it was his turn, Delta didn't hesitate to enter.
Entering Delta, I saw what looked to be a witch hunt. There was stuff on the floor, different vials filled with unknown substances, and books all over the floor.
"Alright, tin man. What seems to be your problem?" the child asked, looking very serious.
'Is she the healer?' Seeing no one else, Delta shrugged, removed his helmet, and showed the so-called 'witch' his injuries. Upon doing so, the child gasped in surprise at the extent of Delta's old scars and still-healing injuries from Rapture.
"Who did this to you?" Questioned the child as she began examining Delta's injuries and scars, as well as the bullet injuries on the side of his head. But Delta quickly showed her that he couldn't speak. "Can't speak either, huh?" Delta shook his head in answer. The child held her chin in contemplation before walking around the room and picking up a book. "You have the most severe case of injuries I've ever seen in my life. I'm not even sure how you're even alive. Like I sense no mana in you, you have scars that look like no one should be able to survive, and least of all is that hole on the side of your head." She said, sounding more frustrated and exasperated at Delta's condition, "But I can fix you. Also, no need to pay for it; your case is more severe than anyone in this village."
The child then grabbed a giant staff and began chanting something. Soon, Delta began to be surrounded by some green light. Delta waited and waited, seeing if anything would happen. He didn't feel any different, and when he felt his face, the scars were still there. Soon, the child stopped and released a shaky breath.
"H-how? That- that was supposed to heal you!" The child then did it again, which resulted in the same thing. Reluctantly, the child looked away from Delta and said this. "I'm sorry, but it seems I won't be able to heal you." Delta only smiled at the child before he softly patted her head and nodded. The child smiled back at him before shaking his hand off. "I'll escort you out now."
As Delta and the child exited the building, they saw panic. People were running, and fires were raging from some distant houses. Confused, the child asked one of the running people.
"What's happening!?"
"Order soldiers. They're attacking the village!" But Delta saw one of the fires close to the inn where the children were. Wasting no time, Delta began rushing towards the building.
Alright, then. I hope you all enjoyed this chapter as well. I basically typed this thing in two days, so expect a few writing errors here and there. Also, I just realized how stronger Delta will start getting when he begins using the research cameras on the mamono. Hell, I wonder what'll happen if he uses it on one of the gods. Either way, thanks, everyone, for the support you guys showed. I hope I did this chapter justice. But if there was any error, please leave a review, and I'll try to repair them.
As for what Delta has for tonics and plasmids, I'll show that in the next chapter.
Reviews:
Baron Bolt: That would've been a good practice, but with how I already set it up, I don't think it'll fit anymore.
cjipad4311: Oh, people will be surprised at his abilities as well as his plasmids and tonics. Plus, imagine what the research camera will do here.
Puko6lud: Okie, also, thanks for taking an interest in this.
Guest 5-04: Glad you liked it, and I hope to deliver to your expectations.
Guest 5-05: Glad you liked my idea with Bioshock and MGE with Delta; I'll be sure to provide more chapters.
Imperial warlord: Thanks for taking an interest!
david arturo farfan soto 1998: I was happy about reading this giant paragraph of a review. Plus, your mentioning the licenses will give me a few ideas about how they'll be introduced. Plus, I have a few ideas about how the magic and plasmids will interact with each other.
head reviewer mk2: Ask and you shall receive. Also, thanks for taking an interest.
cheneydpasqua: Yeah, I get the feeling, too, but don't worry, I'll post more of this.
