AN: Thanks for the reviews and of course the favorite and follow. So here's the next chapter. Hopefully you all will enjoy it, just as much I have enjoy writing it.
When Tara saw Gemma at the hospital yesterday, she really wasn't sure how it was going to go honestly. Because the last time Tara saw Gemma, they had some words which wasn't good. But now Gemma has invited Tara to the family dinner tonight and Tara isn't really sure if she really should go or not. But maybe talking to Jax about it might be able to help her make the decision lot easier.
Getting out of her car and closing the door, Tara glanced over her shoulder, making sure her crazy psychotic ex wasn't following her. Ever since Tara found out Josh was in Charming, and since she ran into him at the hospital, Tara had been really cautious and kept her gun close by.
When Tara didn't see any unfamiliar cars pulling into the lot Tara turned around and headed towards the clubhouse as she walked in the first person she saw was Piney sitting at the bar." Hey there, Piney."Tara greeted him as she approached him.
" Hey, doc what you doing here?"
"I'm looking for Jax, actually."
"He should be in his room," Piney said as he took a drink of his whiskey.
"Thanks," Tara said as she walked away from the bar and headed towards the back of the clubhouse. As Tara got to his door, she lifted her fist and knocked on it a few times before stepping back and waiting for Jax to answer and let her in.
Jax was sitting in his room reading a manuscript that his father wrote before he died in the storage, when he heard a knock..Standing up from his bed he placed the manuscript in the bottom of his drawers as he walked up to door and answered it. When he saw Tara standing out his door he grins as he was happy to see her.
"Hey babe," Jax greeted her as he leaned forward and kissed her cheek.
"Hey, is this a bad time?" Tara asked, unsure if she had interrupted something he was doing at the moment.
Jax shook his head as he moved to the side. "No, come on in."
" Thanks." Tara said as she walked past him as she walked into his room.
" So, what did I do to deserve your visit today?" Jax asked as he closed the door behind him and walked across the room as he took a seat in his chair. "Is everything okay with Abel?"
"Abel is fine," Tara answered as she sat down on Jax's bed. "I talked to Gemma yesterday when she was visiting Abel."
"Really?"
Tara nodded her head. "Yeah."
How did that go? Jax asked, wanting to make sure his mother didn't start any kind of drama with Tara. He and Tara weren't officially back together yet, but they had been spending a lot of time together, trying to get to know each other again. And he knew Gemma wasn't exactly thrilled about it, so finding out that Gemma and Tara had talked yesterday didn't sit well with him.
" Honestly, surprisingly good. She even invited me to the family dinner tonight."
Are you serious? My mom actually invited you to the family dinner," Jax said, actually surprised that his mother would actually invite his ex-girlfriend from high school to the family dinner.
Tara nodded her head as she took a deep breath. "Yeah, but I don't know if I should go through with it."
"Just come anyway, babe."
"Are you sure?"
Jax stood up from his chair as he walked up to Tara and grabbed her hand, pulling her up off of his bed. "I want you to be there tonight," he answered as he held her hand and leaned down to gently kiss her lips.
Tara nodded her head in agreement. "I'll be there," she said as she kissed him back gently. "I need to get back to my office for some paperwork, but I'll see you later tonight." She said as she let go of his hand and opened his door, walking out of the room and heading towards the exit of the clubhouse.
Tara will only attend the family dinner tonight for Jax, and she really hopes that Gemma won't start any trouble.
Gemma and some of the other old ladies were in her kitchen preparing tonight's family dinner before Clay and the club showed up. While Gemma was cutting up some carrots, she looked over at her best friend and fellow Old Lady Luann Delaney. "So, I invited Jax's ex-girlfriend to the family dinner," she said.
" the ex, who's a doctor? The one who's been taking care of your grandson?"
Gemma nodded her head. "Yeah," Gemma answered as she put the cut-up carrots into the salad she was preparing for tonight's dinner.
"But, why though? I thought you didn't trust her."
When it comes to Jax, I don't trust her. But she did save my grandson from dying, so this is my way of thanking her. Of course she doesn't want her and Jax getting back together, but she knows that they have been seeing each other a lot lately.
Are you sure, that's the only reason why you invited her? Luann asked as she couldn't help but get the feeling Gemma had something up her sleeve.
Other than showing the good doctor my gratitude, I have no other reason. Besides, what do you think I'm going to do? Kill her in front of everyone? Gemma asked with a small smirk.
"The thought sort of crossed my mind," Luann answered as she shrugged her shoulders.
Well, don't worry; I won't lay a hand on her. As long as Tara doesn't get out of line and be disrespectful towards me, everything should be fine. Does Gemma want Tara dead? There's no question about it, especially after what Tara put Jax through after she left him eleven years ago. But tonight, for Tara's sake and Jax's, Gemma can behave herself. However, that doesn't mean Gemma won't be keeping her eyes on the doctor.
Family dinner at the Teller-Morrow household was going really well tonight. Everyone was sitting around the table, eating, talking, and just enjoying each other's company. Having family around for dinner is what Gemma loves the most. The club is Gemma's family, and she loves them. She will never trade all of this for anything.
While Gemma sat between Clay and Bobby, listening to everyone talk among themselves, she glanced over at Jax and Tara, who were sitting across from her. As she watched them, Gemma began to wonder if she should mention the gun she noticed in Tara's bag earlier, when Tara had left it on her kitchen counter. However, she decided to wait until after dinner to ask Tara about it.
As Tara could feel Gemma watching them which is making her feel uncomfortable, Tara leans towards Jax as she whispers against his ear." I'm going go step outside for a moment."She said as she got up from the table and excuse herself as she walked through Gemma's kitchen and out the back door.
Hearing footsteps coming from behind her, she looked over her shoulder and smiled as she noticed Jax walking up to her. "I'm sorry, but I just had to get out of there. You do know she still wants me dead, don't you?"
" I'll handle my mother." Jax answered with a deep sigh."I just came out here to check on you.You doing alright?" He asked softly as he moved few strands of Tara's hair behind her ear.
Tara sighed softly as she nodded her head. "I'm good, Jax," she replied. "I'm just tired and I want to get home. My first patient comes in early tomorrow morning." Tara answered, yawning slightly as she covered her mouth with the back of her hand.
"Shouldn't you be driving, babe?"
"I'll be fine, Jax," Tara said with a small smile. "But mind following me back home, just in case I do end up falling asleep at the wheel?"
" You shouldn't make jokes like that babe." Jax answered with a light chuckle." But yeah, I will follow you home." He said as he leans forward and kisses her forehead gently.
Tara nodded her head. "I gotta go grab my bag; I left it in Gemma's kitchen." She said as she walked back into the kitchen. As she walked in, she noticed Gemma in the kitchen and reached for her bag.
" Are you going home?" Gemma asked.
"Yeah, I've got an early appointment in the morning and I've gotta get some sleep," Tara answered with a small nod as she turned around, getting ready to head back out.
"Is there a reason why you are carrying a gun in your bag?"
Tara suddenly stopped as she turned back around." What the hell were you doing snooping around in my bag in the first place?"
"I wasn't sure if you were aware or not, but your bag was open and I sort of noticed it. Are you in some kind of trouble?"
"Not anything I can't handle," Tara answered, shrugging her shoulders.
"Does Jax know about the gun you're carrying?"
Tara sighed heavily as she shook her head. "No, Jax doesn't know about the gun and no, he doesn't need to know. Are we done here? Or do you have any more questions?" Tara asked, already growing tired of playing twenty questions with Gemma.
Gemma nodded her head. "Yeah, we're done here."
Without saying another word, Tara turned around and walked out of Gemma's kitchen and towards her car. Gemma knew about the gun, which was the very last thing Tara wanted, and now everything was screwed up. It would only be a matter of time before Jax found out.
Pulling up alongside Tara in the apartment parking lot, Jax dismounted his Dyna and set his helmet on its handlebar. "I still can't believe you actually sold your father's place to live in an apartment." Last month, Tara had finally been able to sell her childhood home and move into a one-bedroom apartment.
"Hey, I happen to love my apartment, thank you very much," Tara said as she closed and locked up her car after setting up the car alarm. "You don't have to follow me upstairs, Jax. I'm sure I can make it to my bed on my own."
"I'm sure you can, babe," Jax said with a smirk. "At least let me walk you to your door."
Tara laughed lightly as she nodded her head. "Yeah, you can do that. Come on." She said as she reached for his hand and took it as they both headed upstairs towards her apartment.
As Tara and Jax approached Tara's door, Tara noticed that her door was wide open. Quickly letting go of Jax's hand, Tara ran into her apartment. As soon as she flipped on the light, Tara gasped in horror as she noticed that there were pictures of her everywhere. There were pictures of her from various places, including the clubhouse, and even a few pictures of her and Jax in bed together from the times she had spent the night at the clubhouse. They were all spread out across her living room.
"Jesus Christ," Jax said in shock, noticing all the photos.
"Jax, someone was in here," Tara said in a shaky voice, and she knew exactly who that person was. But she couldn't let Jax know just yet.
"Let's go back to the clubhouse," Jax said, pressing his lips against her forehead. "I don't want you alone tonight, and I'll have Halfsack with you at St. Thomas tomorrow."
Tara nodded her head in agreement. "Yeah, okay," she said as she looked around and followed Jax out of her apartment. Now more determined than ever to kill Josh, Tara knew that she needed to act quickly or else she would end up dead herself.
It looks like Tara is going to have to tell Jax about Josh.
