Rain began to fall, as the hushed voices gathered around the smoldering remains of a stone-walled house slowly faded as those gathered departed. Before long, three figures remained, Severus Snape, Albus Dumbledore, and a young boy, no older than three years of age, currently shivering slightly in the cold, only enhanced by the rain.
"He caused all of this? Must be a powerful Doomsayer if he is merely a small child and caused all this destruction." Snape said, waving his wand and conjuring up a blanket which wrapped itself around the child.
"He was born to a pair of Soothsayers, an unusual result, he would be expected to have Soothsayer abilities, but to be a Doomsayer either means he has both—a much unusual combination that can only grow more unstable in the coming years—or he is a most unusual child." Dumbledore responded, turning to look out at the town. The house had been shrouded by a Fidelius Charm, though both known Secret Keepers were in ash at their feet, and the child was too young to actually be a Secret Keeper, so the charm had likely dissipated, and within an hour, the Muggle townfolk would begin to gather and marvel at the house in ruins.
"Do we know of any family he may have? He'll need firm family support as he gets older, his abilities are volatile, few have experience with Doomsayer children." As he spoke, Severus conjured up a magical train set, to circle the boy, causing him to giggle.
"No family. And I presume you're speaking of yourself? The Ministry would have a field day trying to place him with a family, and someone with his abilities…"
"Would be ill-suited for an orphanage, yes, I was speaking of myself. I have a small amount of experience handling children with Doomsayer abilities. Plus, if he does have Soothsayer abilities as well, I know of a potion that can help to regulate the balance until he can better master both sides. The ingredients are rare and expensive, but I feel a connection with him." Snape said, using his wand to move the train set, transfixing the boy.
"Very well, then I shall leave you to it to get him somewhere safe. Though I urge you to do so quickly." Dumbledore said, before disapparating away with a soft 'pop'.
Severus knelt down next to the boy, picking him up, "now hug my arm firmly." He said, before apparating both of them to the Snape manor.
