To be honest I don't think about death that much. It's simply something I know would eventually happen to me and everyone else alive. Sure, people might eventually find a way to pause and undo aging but that only made one ageless while still being vulnerable to injuries. And even if the mind can somehow miraculously be copied the conscious would still be trapped in the original body, not making a difference in my opinion.

Getting to live a longer life would be nice though.

The plain white walls and cold white light on the ceiling removes any notion of this being a warm place. I can barely feel anything as my mind drifts. The incessant beeping of the heartbeat monitor drowns out all other sound. There might be talking outside the door but I honestly cannot bring myself to care. Why should I, when I might soon be dead?

I reminisce about the past. School was honestly a mixed package as while elementary school was kinda bad due to me not being that great of person the later years would be so much better. Many friendships formed and broke apart whether simply from distance or me simply just being not that outgoing of a person. Illness was a constant companion, there whether I liked it or not, giving me annoying headaches every few days and an awful disease every few weeks.

To be honest my life was pretty boring.

The best part of life however has to be stories, an escape from this mixed world and into ones far better. An escape to worlds where mundane problems are non existent and joy is prevalent. An escape to epic worlds where magic exists and logic isn't a limitation.

Some of the best stories I've read has to fanfiction. If there's something specific I want to read I just need to look for it and instantly find tens, if not hundreds of works. A modern AU of Attack on Titan? Surprisingly common. Varian actually being the host for the Moonstone? Absolutely. Miraculous Ladybug not being whatever the heck happened? So much better than canon. Sure, for every good work there's probably a dozen terrible ones, but even objectively terrible stories usually have something interesting about them.

For some reason I feel more sluggish than normal. Ah, that's it. Paying attention to the world once more reveals that I'm in a different room full of people. On my face is a mask containing a funny smelling gas. It looks like my surgery is about to start.

I breath in and out.

In and out.

In and out.

In. And. Out.

In. Out.

In.

Out.

A darkness creeps from the edge of my vision while my breaths become slower, proof that the anesthetic is working. Farewell oh boring world, should this be my final moment.

Nothing. That is what I see.

No, that's not it exactly. I'm sure we've all thought that we've seen nothing before, closing our eyes or just looking into distant space. That is not nothing. That is still something. How am I supposed to describe what it looks like when there are no words that can properly explain anything about it. Even that sentence is wrong as that is still trying to describe something.

Nothing. That is what I hear.

This is surprisingly pleasant. I've always thought that excellent hearing was terrible, always able to hear anyone talking within the apartment I live in. Constant annoyance whenever somebody would talk just a little too loud. This is not the same as quiet however. Even absolute quietness is a kind of noise.

Nothing. That is what I feel.

This has to be worst though. While five senses are commonly mentioned there are also technically several more depending on one's definition. I admittedly don't remember their names but they were how we could sense where parts of our body are at all times and something to do with gravity. Not only could I not feel outside stimuli but I couldn't even feel my own body.

I try to move but nothing responds, not even a phantom sensation. Do I not have a body? How am I capable of thinking? How is th-

I saw something.

I saw something.

There's something here.

How is there something here?!

"yEs. This wILl Be fuN!"

I wake up.

Instead of the nothingness of before it's now a white… something, spanning as far as the eye can yet not as blinding as the color typically is. I can see depth despite everything being the exact same shade and know that below is a floor despite being no different. I can inhale a lungful of air despite the lack of a source. I can feel the sensation of clothes despite previously lacking a body.

Yes, this is much better than before.

Raising an arm reveals that I have an arm to raise, proof that I have a body once more. A smile graces my face as I revel in the feeling of being able to feel.

Congrats! Out of however many souls exist in your universe you have been selected to be the next Gamer!

Huh?

Allow me to introduce myself! I'm the System, an almost all powerful creation that powers the Gamer.

System? Gamer? Wait, is this like one of the Gamer fanfics I've read before?

Eh, sorta. Would you like to begin the tutorial?

Sure. Not like I can really do anything else.

Let me introduce the situation first. My creator, the first Gamer, is several thousand years old and thus has grown quite bored with everything. Whenever he's gotten bored he usually does something… random in an attempt to create entertainment.

This is where you come in. He's decided to select another new Gamer except this time it's a purely gacha based one, where you have to use the rolls from the gacha to become stronger. You start with four rolls and gain a roll whenever you complete a quest.

So I'm just alive because your creator was bored? Welp, so much for being the chosen one and all that.

To start off the tutorial you'll be customizing your character.

Several bright screens appear out of thin air before me, each one containing different menus and options. Height, eye color, ethnicity, all of those things and more could be changed. In the center of everything is a model of myself without clothes to show what I'd look like with these changes. I'm pretty happy with my appearance though so I only change its eye color from a boring brown to an amazing bright blue. Playing with hair modifiers doesn't show any better results so I decide to keep the plain black color.

Out of curiosity I decide to swipe the slider that'll turn it into a girl. Several things change simultaneously, the face the model's hair growing to cover its shoulders and its hips and chest becoming curvier. Everything seems alright up until something happens between the legs-

Nope nope nope change that back!

Other than that though I'm happy. Looking at the model once more there doesn't seem to be anything else to change so I click the finish button.

Next up is your status menu. Simply say Status to open it.

Name: Alex Liu

Age: 14

Species: Human

Level: 1

Charisma: C

Intelligence: B-

Stamina: B-

Strength: C

Vitality: D+

Wisdom: C

These six stats follow typical RPG rules so I won't bother explaining them. Instead of numbers though, which the first Gamer found annoying, we use the letter rank system instead. They are based on the species with C being considered average.

I'm surprised my vitality isn't worse though with how often I got sick. Then again, perhaps getting sick so often improved my immune system and thus that in turn? I definitely need to train though as there's no way I could fight strong enemies with stats like those.

You'll be given six random worlds that you should have at least a vague familiarity with to choose one from. Please note that while you'll be given a backstory there's nothing preventing people from noticing if you are out of place, such as practicing magic in a magic less world.

Once you select a world you will then be given several quest lines to choose from. This will be a series of quests you need to complete in order to unlock a new world.

Please select a universe!

[Harry Potter]

[Marvel Cinematic Universe]

[Renegades]

[RWBY]

[Undertale]

[Worm]

The sentence about standing out prevents me from choosing Harry Potter. As fun as practicing magic would be I doubt I'd be able to explain something like a quirk of devil fruit. Not to mention the blatant prejudice against muggle born and half bloods.

The MCU sounds pretty fun. I used to be very interested in the series up until the end of Phase Three, really enjoying the movies and diving into the lore. This was actually the main fandom for me when reading fanfiction several year ago, making about one third of all fanfiction I had read at the time.

The world itself is pretty good as well. There's plenty of different foes such as HYDRA or Kaecilius' Zealots for a variety of interesting fights. And unlike the rest it happens over a decade or so in focused bursts which should give me plenty of time to practice and grow stronger. The main problem with this world though is that anything post Phase Three is just terrible and escalated greatly.

… Interestingly enough the first Gamer agrees. If you choose the MCU it will only be accurate up to the end of Phase Three and only include the movie events.

Huh, that's pretty much the only problem gone. I should probably consider the rest first though before settling on my answer.

Renegades is pretty low level from what my friend told me. Apparently most heroes and villains are only street level with very few being stronger than that. The strongest person there is someone named Ace Anarchy, a telekinetic who at his peak could supposedly lift every building in at least a several kilometers wide range but required his helmet and something to do with a star to do so, being much weaker normally.

I never read the series myself though so this information might be wrong. A friend had read it a few years ago but didn't recommend it so I never bothered, something about how terrible the hero system was and badly done romance? Combine this with how little knowledge I have on the series and Renegades is eliminated.

RWBY is similar in that I don't have that much knowledge. Yes, I'm familiar with most terminology like Semblance or Grimm but my knowledge of the plot itself only extends up to the initiation ceremony thing and knowing of Salem. On the other hand, there's plenty of Grimm to kill for exp and the power level should be at a point where it's fun but not extremely dangerous.

Undertale would either be boring or full of pain depending on how exactly the game mechanics are implemented. If monster attacks are the exact same as in the game then it should be relatively easy to beat with a few rolls unless I go for the genocide route. But if it's more realistic then characters like Undyne, Sans, or Flowey will be real nightmares, especially in the genocide route.

In my opinion there's no way a person would be able to beat Sans without the game limitations. A person shouldn't be able to react quick enough to leave a big enough area of bones and even if they could then Sans could just hold their soul in place. And if he can remember past timelines then memorizing attack patterns will no longer work.

Now that I think about it a gun would probably be pretty effective against all monsters. Still no though.

Worm is just… no. Absolutely not.

Looks like I'm choosing the MCU then. That's a minute or two wasted contemplating things.

Please select a quest line!

[Avengers, Assemble!]

"There was an idea, called the Avengers Initiative"

Recently Loki has stolen the Tesseract from SHIELD, causing them to seek out talented people to work together in order to stop him. You are one of these people, an untrained person full of potential which SHIELD has had an eye on.

Prevent Thanos from snapping half of the universe away.

[HYDRA Hunter]

If two heads take the place of one then I'll just burn them all!

HYDRA is a villainous organization with decades of history that spans the entire globe. Due to the recent increase in superhumans like Hulk and Thor one of their cells has decided to dedicate themselves to finding and kidnapping any potential children to brainwash into becoming one of them. And after months of searching they have finally found one. They have found you.

Escape from HYDRA and defeat them once and for all.

[Collector of Infinity]

It is inevitable… maybe

Legends of something called Infinity Stones, the building blocks of the universe, have existed for as long as people remembered. Recently though, news has gotten out that Ronan the Accuser acquired the Power Stone and tried using it to destroy Xandar, proving that they are real. You are someone who seeks to collect the treasures of the universe, and the Infinity Stones will be the magnum opus of your collection

Collect all six Infinity Stones before someone else does it

Immediately the second quest line gains my interest. Sure, it's pretty dangerous as I'll have to escape from a HYDRA cell and then defeat them, an organization that as it says spans the entire world, but something about the danger sounds thrilling. Just imagine all of the interesting and new experience I'll experience!

After living an ordinary and boring life why not go for something fascinating?

Not to say the others are bad. Yes I'll get to fight plenty of unique enemies and have plenty of time to train in the first one but in the entire decade or so in which everything takes place there's only about five major events I could take part in. Sure, there's probably more we haven't seen but that's not much action.

Same thing with Collector of Infinity. The positives are the same and I get to set my own pace so longer as it's faster than the movies but I'll also have to face the Nova Corps, Ancient One or Doctor Strange, Thanos, and somehow get the soul stone. HYDRA is definitely powerful but they're nowhere near as powerful as the rest. There's also something about space sci fi that I just don't like that much.

Any questions?

Nope, none that I can think of. This seems like it'll be a very fun time.

For completing the tutorial, you have been given [Gamer's Body], [Gamer's Mind], and [Observe]!

For completing the tutorial, you have been given a consumable roll, item roll, perk roll, and ability roll!

Rolling

Rolling.

Rolling..

Rolling…

Congrats! You got the consumable [Butterscotch Pie (Common)]!

Congrats! You got the item [Turmoil's Sound Deadener (Common)]!

Congrats! You got the perk [Toggle (Uncommon)]!

Congrats! You got the ability [Artwork Genesis (Legendary)]!

The first three rolls honestly aren't that useful, especially the third one as it's useless unless I get another perk. But wow, a legendary ability from the get go. It doesn't sound that good though. I mean, sure, drawing a gun could be useful but that doesn't seem worthy of being legendary ranked.

That's when it hits me. I could recreate Captain America's shield or Thor's hammer for exotic weaponry. Creating creatures wouldn't be out of the equation either. Imagine riding a tyrannosaurus rex to battle! Or if that's too risky I should be able to also draw a drone with a gun. With Artwork Genesis my imagination and drawing skills should be the only limitation!

… I absolutely need to improve my drawing skills then. As much as I want to say I'm good I've only ever done simple drawings, traced over something, or did mathematical art. Since HYDRA kidnapped me for my ability then they'll likely try and train it. The thought of learning how to draw from HYDRA of all things sounds really hilarious too.

Artwork Genesis should be pretty useful for escaping from them. I'll be able to draw different equipment needed to escape the base such as bombs or Captain America's shield. System, can this ability be used to create nutritious food?

It can.

Good. Combine that with survival tools and I should be able to survive until I can either find civilization or how I want to proceed. Now that I've thought of all this I can see why it's legendary ranked. It's really versatile and probably one of the best things I could've gotten for this.

Wait, couldn't I just draw the infinity stones?

No, you can't. As powerful as Artwork Genesis is it cannot create something as strong as the infinity stone.

Oh well, I didn't have much hope of that working anyway.

Are you ready to begin your journey?

Oh absolutely! Let's begin!

Sparkles of light slowly rise from nothing and follow a pattern only it knows through the sky, inspiring a sense of wonder deep in my soul. As time passes by I continue watching it without a sense of care or worry. Seconds, minutes, hours, I longer know how long. Eventually though it slows down into a vague shape and stills.

The bright beautiful light slowly fades and reveals something. Though the shape is definitely an archway made of an unknown shiny red metal with white engravings there are miscellaneous shapes decorating it, all related in some way to the MCU. Filling the archway though is something like a wispy and fleeting curtain. Broken whispers echo from characters I grew up watching, each saying something I cannot fully hear.

Am I ready to do this? Am I ready to enter a world once fictional? Am I ready to go on an adventure? After pausing for a final deep breath I decide yes, I am, and walk through.

A/N:
Out of boredom and interest in writing I've decided to try write a fanfic. I've had several different ideas, primarily based on the Gamer system, but in the end decided to do one based on gacha since I think it'll be fun.

Don't expect the story to that good. I haven't written anything longer than ten thousand words before and with the gacha being entirely random it'll likely just become a power fantasy.

Rolls:

Butterscotch Pie (Undertale, Common)

Turmoil's Sound Deadener (Renegades, Common)

Toggle (Custom, Uncommon)

Artwork Genesis (Renegades, Legendary)
