Thunder Hero: Baraquiel 4
Todoroki stared down Harry over the accusation of wasting each other's time "I won't. I believe I've said this Todoroki. Anyway; you doing anything tonight?"
"Er no, not really…Apart from looking after Natsuo and Shoto."
"Dinner? I'll cook."
Fuyumi looked at him shellshocked and slightly caught in the headlights "Are you asking me out on a date?"
"Yes. Yes, I am. I mean it wouldn't be much, just me cooking a meal for us."
Todoroki blushed "You…You can cook?"
"What? You expected me to live on takeout and beer or something." Todoroki giggled at the stereotypical response.
"Takeout yes, beer? Aren't you a little young?"
"Old money means I have access to loopholes. Thanks to this aforementioned loophole, I don't technically have to get an education here; but…I figured it'd be something to pass the time. Might end up getting my Hero Licence as well."
Todoroki looked at him "Please, call me Fuyumi and about that studying and second breakfast?"
"Only, if you call me Harry…On my way." With a grin that matched the happiness in his eyes; and a giggling and babbling baby infant Godson. He was enjoying himself right now.
With that everything was almost history.
(Side Scene)
Harry officially on the records of United Alliance High School, was in the General Education Course; with the intention of becoming a Teacher or a Guidance Counsellor. However, due to his counselling with Hound Dog; the Canine Hero had offered Harry the chance to study under the Erasure Hero: Eraserhead, Aizawa Shota in order to become a Pro-Hero.
(Flashback)
"You're very clever, Mr Potter. I've seen your marks in your General-Education studies and you match with young Okuma Shizuko." Hound-dog said one session.
"What are you suggesting?"
"You do the Hero Training, it's useful to have on your CV. Especially if you get your license."
Harry nodded "I'll think about it."
It didn't take long to come to a decision.
(End Flashback)
"It's…not unheard of but not encouraged. Hero Training is exceptionally gruelling." The Hunting Hero explained after one session of Hero Training.
Harry had grinned thinly "I'll be fine. It'll be fine."
"Your social life will become strained, immensely."
"Aside from Todoroki and a few of her acquaintances; I'm not exactly a social butterfly myself."
Hound Dog grinned at him "You've been here nearly five months; seeing me once a week for two hours. You're definitely sounding better and thanks to Recovery Girl and Lunch Rush, you're looking healthier too. Still skinny but not like a scarecrow."
"Scarecrow? That'd be a decent Hero Name…But I'm sticking with my original one. If you'll excuse me, sir, I have a date tonight."
(That evening)
Harry ended up cooking Udon Noodles and various sides. He'd adjusted to the ingredients but there were somethings that he did best and that was bulk food. Anything that could be en masse; frozen and then defrosted he considered a win.
It was a humble affair; but for Fuyumi, it was the best evening she had for a while. The coolest thing was, her father hadn't stopped her from meeting and hanging out with him. So, the pair of them dating wouldn't be a step too far.
However, things went pear-shaped when Harry arrived at the Todoroki estate. Fuyumi and Harry had managed to get over their initial nervousness and admitted to liking one another, however it had taken Fuyumi a while, five months, to build up the confidence to formally introduce her father and two brothers to her boyfriend.
Enji opened the door, to find Harry waiting with a bottle of sake and a small opening salad "You know our customs then." He commented as he let the dark-haired teen in.
"I learnt quickly," Harry replied; not wanting to offend.
The Patriarch of the Todoroki Household recognised the hasty but crass and somehow polite rebuttal to his initial remark. He was inwardly surprised; most would have turned to a gibbering wreck. Eventually, the stand-off subsided as Shoto turned up "Fuyumi, he's here…"
Harry took that moment to extend his senses, to get a map of the house. He gently exhaled breath and the electrons in the house began to flicker with energy. There should have been only five presences in the house: Endeavour, Fuyumi and her two brothers and him. "Why do I detect nine people in the house? There were according to your daughter only going to be the five of us."
Enji stiffened "They're Hero Public Safety Commission, they keep…checks on heroes."
"Blackmail, threats and other things to keep Heroes in line." Harry thought Enji looked at faintly felt the oxygen in the room heat-up. "Fuyumi said he had a grasp over lightning…Impressive. Considering his reaction to the HPSC, he must have an immense distrust over them already. He must also suspect something for them to be here in such numbers."
"Mr Potter, I'm Hayabushi Minato, I'm the representative of the Hero Public Safety Commission."
"Nice to meet you, officer," Harry replied, as Minato's three associates joined him; this was rapidly trying to be turned into a power-play and Harry was not going to play ball. "Might, I enquire why your colleague to your left is almost positively salivating at the thought of meeting me."
"Kuro, control yourself. I will not have any more allegations against you than I need. I must apologise, Kuro's quirk allows him to appear bigger and more monstrous than he really is…Meeting someone who doesn't pay attention to him, for him, is quite exciting."
"So he's the showy intimidatory one…B- for effort. Could do with some work, unfortunately, I've seen worse…Anyway, Officers…"
Minato nodded "We've heard you transferred to UA recently. We just wanted to know how you're finding it. We also have a query."
"Schooling is schooling, so it's okay. They've been very…one of you has an inhibitory Quirk, causing me to spill my guts. With another having a compliance Quirk…please, Officer, get yourself and your stooges away from me before my stretched good-will deteriorates." The ozone feeling in the hallway intensified and seemed to mount until Minato nodded, bowed to Endeavour and his three colleagues followed.
Harry spun "What have they got on me? What have they got on you?"
Enji let out a tense breath "Is it wrong for me to investigate whom my daughter socialises with?"
"No, but I can question the fact you used her to investigate me."
"I might not show it, but I do care about them…"
Harry's eyes flickered as he locked eyes with the Flame Hero "Let's start over, and just say that this was a setup by the HPSC and it was a horrible misunderstanding."
Endeavour nodded and soon enough a relatively comfortable silence descended on the group. "Harry, what happened to your face?" Shoto asked curiously.
Enji looked and true to youngest sons words, there appeared to be a receding bruise "Ran into concrete Todoroki, ran into the concrete."
"With assistance," Enji commented.
Harry nodded "Very much so."
"I thought you said, you weren't going into heroics," Fuyumi stated narrowing her eyes at Harry, making him squirm slightly.
"I'm not…I never said I wouldn't go for my hero license. I'd rather have justified lightning strikes than have to conceal the evidence and unfortunately Fuyumi; you're the daughter of a Hero and a Hero worth his salt could pick up any false reason why I'm using my Quirk. Although I will gladly use my Quirk to protect my Godson…in fact, I'd probably…" Harry began only for Fuyumi cut him off.
"You'd rather burn the country to the ground to protect him."
"That's an impressive boast."
After that tense and touchy subject, eventually, in the Todoroki household Hero rankings were discussed. "Where exactly is All Might?" Harry asked. Getting the interest of Enji. Fuyumi had taken this point in time to stretch out and rest her head on Harry's shoulder.
"What do you mean?"
"When people read about Hero incidents generally the Hero in question gives a brief interview etc. But All Might, he's MIA for a while, granted being a Hero entitles him to hide from the spotlight but this…silence, it doesn't seem like his style."
Enji looked at the Electric teen "What are you suggesting or even implying?"
"Something's happened to All Might. Something that's been covered up and secreted away out of sight and out of mind, that is until someone connects the dots…All Might is supposed to be the Symbol of Peace, the Number One Hero. I believe that since Quirks have come about the 3rd Law of Sir Isaac Newton is now firmly entrenched in Villain/Heroic dogma. Without one there isn't another. I'm thinking there's a hidden villain somewhere so powerful that only All Might could beat him."
Enji nodded "This villain crippled All Might…Which is why he's not been around."
Harry nodded "More or less. Then All Might will return but will eventually fade. His fading will then…"
"Throw Japan and the World into Chaos and Disorder, with me becoming Number One…" Enji would cheer but the hollow and haunted eyes of his Daughters Boyfriend looked back at him.
"What do you suggest?"
"We need good heroes in the wings, we need young blood ready to run full-on out into a storm and be prepared to surpass the 'Old Guard' the current generation of Pros…If, and I say IF…things go even as bad as I think they're going to get I'll…"
Fuyumi looked at him "I thought you don't want to be a hero."
"Honestly, I don't. But, if there's something I'm good at it's a crisis…" Harry trailed off. Fuyumi knew the cliff-notes; the male Todoroki's knew Harry was concealing something.
Surprisingly it was Natsuo and Enji opening their mouths at the same time "Experiences? Flashbacks/Memories." Harry faded out as his mind reeled as he focused on them.
"All of that. Funnily enough on my honour, my seventeen years has definitely given me a perspective on life…" He trailed off. "Dabi/Toya, the things I do for people." With that, he held his tongue. "…Apologies, I mistook myself. Thank you again for the food, compliments to the chef…I'll be off, I fear I've overstayed my welcome."
With that Harry, turned and left. The memories of Tonks, Lupin, Sirius, Pettigrew, Yaxley, the Carrows and others. Both friends and foes flashing in his mind. He needed to get a grip! To have discussed this for nearly two weeks, and to relapse!
For Fuyumi, it was the pair of mirrors in the hallway allowing for Enji to see potentially concealed weapons. Harry caught Fuyumi following him and the small palm of electricity extinguished itself. "It's okay. This…is…how it normally is here."
Harry nodded, he turned to her. He was still reeling, but Fuyumi gently pressed her hand onto his arm "I'm here. Please…"
Then another voice rumbled "My, apologies…I…went to far."
Harry turned "It is fine. I should have tried to extricate myself from that more politely…Wow, little over five months ago; my reaction would have been so much worse. Plus, I've realised that I'm going to stumble from crisis to crisis, dropping bodies and taking names becoming the bogeyman to villains and thugs."
The four Todorokis gulped; even Enji. He'd been in circumstances where he had been forced to take a life, but that must have been nearly thirteen years ago when he'd been in his late twenties. However, the man in front of him; the same age as his daughter had already taken a life! "It was the Leader of Villains and his minions in a Pre-Quirk Era movie showdown of Good vs Evil proportions."
"You won then? You're the hero! The good guys?" Shoto asked, slightly naively.
"In an extremely narrow point of view. Yeah, we won, our lives to live how we want whilst others didn't. Children lost parents, Parents lost Children, Lovers lost one another or died together. 'Good' people died and 'Bad' people died. The victors dictate how things go, the losers don't speak as they're dead; mostly. There's more to fighting, solving crimes and saving people in the Hero Business. Shoto, Natsuo, Fuyumi; you know this better than most…Yeah, Mr Todoroki, those are my experiences…Sorry for coming back to a subject, I said I wanted to move on from."
Enji looked at him and eventually, the Flame Hero nodded in consent. "Fuyumi, you've found a good man. I approve."
Harry turned to Shoto "Want me to help you out with your training?"
"You can help with my training?" Shoto questioned.
Harry smirked, "If I can teach people up to three years my senior and two years my junior to pass their physicals with all sorts of Quirk, I'm pretty sure I can teach you."
Shoto nodded; Enji turned slightly purple with rage at the thought of his legacy to become Number One, in the hands of an outsider. 'I'm keeping an eye on you.' Enji thought.
(HPSC)
"And? You're opinion on Potter?"
"Sharp, he was onto us the moment he entered the Estate. I don't think he suspects, anyone, immediately; but from the way he eyed us, we're going to need very good alibis if we're even going to get close to him."
For now, people were adopting a wait and see approach.
