The moon shone brightly down on the residential area of Libson, not too far away from the city centre. Unlike the city, the homes of the common folk stayed in one of the many high-rise buildings in the area, their colours not matching the bright and vibrant houses in the town, rather being painted instead in various degrees of monotone.

Perched high up on one of the high-rise flats was a lone tall and slender woman. She peered down at the scene below from her transforming rifle, the Widow's Kiss.

John and Vale were soon brought together, both had their hands behind their head in surrender.

Aside from the green ninja standing in front of them, they were surrounded by a few familiar, but mostly unfamiliar faces of the peacekeeping taskforce.

The taskforce they were supposed to return the prototype bomb.

They were also the same taskforce that they were running away from.

John and Vale held their breaths, not sure of what was going to happen next. But from the way the weapons from the taskforce members were being pointed at them, all they know was that they were completely screwed one way or another.

The surrounding members of the taskforce parted to reveal a suited-up gorilla walking quadrupedally towards them.

John and Vale shared a look at each other as the big primate towered over them.

"Good evening you two." The gorilla spoke.

John and Vale's eyes widen in amazement.

"Wow. A talking monkey." John uttered under his breath.

"Ahem, I'm gorilla for your information." Winston cleared his throat, clearly a bit irritated a being called the wrong type of ape.

"Oh. Sorry, uh, Mr-?" John apologised but didn't finish as he didn't get the gorilla's name.

"Winston. He's the one in charge of the peacekeeping taskforce." Eve interrupted. The holoprojector spoke from Vale's belt.

Winston looked at the device for a moment, before shaking his head.

"Moving to other important matters, you two have been detained and arrested for making a false statement to authorities and harbouring a stolen deadly weapon."

"Wait, wait. You got this all wrong." Vale pleaded. "We were given that bomb, that weapon, by the General himself. All we had to do was give it to the 'Overwatch' taskforce, as said by him."

"Then how come you didn't surrender it to us?"

"We didn't know who was the peacekeeping taskforce. So we fled the base since we didn't know who was who. Only then did we realise from the intel we took from the United Nations servers back there it was you guys and not those killer onmics." The last remark ended up with Orisa and Bastion shoving their guns closer to the Spanish-Frenchman's face.

Winston contemplated Vale's reasoning, but it didn't easily convince Sombra, who was standing right next to Vale.

"Doesn't explain why you guys were in Germany. Great work there by the way."

"Gracias. Esos matones eran putas." This earned a titter from the hacker.

"We were there because we didn't know where we were."

Vale cut him off. "He means that we needed to find this taskforce that the General was referring to. We searched the web for it, only to tell us that there were rumours of a taskforce being set up by the United Nations, and since there was a meeting announced, it led us to here."

"So, just to be clear, you guys went on a massive treasure hunt just to find us to give us the bomb?" Sombra raised an eyebrow.

John, trying to be uplifting in the tense situation, pouted and thought of Sombra's words. "Um yeah, that's one way to put it."

Sombra wanted to question them more, but Echo beat her to it.

"Then why did you lie to the General that you were part of the taskforce?"

John and Vale fell silent. They didn't contemplate the lie they told.

"Um…." John wanted to reason, but his face hit the tarmac before he could come up with another excuse.

"Enough beating around the bush." Reaper kicked John to the ground, his metal boots pressing into his back. "We can deal with their lies later. Where is the damn bomb?"

"Wait. wait! Stop!" Vale cried out. The attention now was all on her, everyone training their arms and weapons towards her.

She slowly lowered her right hand and grabbed Eve from her belt. The holoprojector came to life as Eve swiped on its miniature projection with her thumb, her other hand still up in surrender. For everyone else, we were fascinated, but at the same time cautious as they didn't know what were her intentions.

They kept watch as she fondled with the tiny device. Then, she stopped, finally finishing whatever she was doing.

Vale then shone the projection down to the tarmac. There, lighting down the ground, the decent-sized weapon materialized from the holoprojector, and white light surrounding the reasonable-sized bomb fizzled out as it was spawned.

Everyone was still in awe as Vale kept back Eve on her belt, her hands going back to surrender.

"Alright. You got your weapon. Please just let us go."

Winston frowned, wondering whether to let the two go. They seemed very nice people and they would be a great asset to the team.

But his thoughts were interrupted by Sombra.

"Let you go? There are still some questions that we want answers to." The hacker bumped purposely into Vale's arm, irritating her.

"For starters, who are you two?"

"Like I told you, I'm Vale and he is Jo-"

"Not your names." The hacker squats down in front of Vale. "Where are you from."

Vale pressed her lips together, not wanting to say anything else.

"It's weird to see two individuals that have no records registered in any country, aside from the Outback, to funnily show up in the Netherlands, a military base no less, have the fighting experience to fend off rogue onmics and a group of gangsters, somehow have the knowledge and technology to go so far as to infiltrate a top-level meeting between nations?"

Sombra got right up to her's face not letting up her rampage., which Vale turned away from her.

"I could go on and on, friend."

Widow smirked as she watched through her scope. She didn't feel bad that Sombra was tearing a new one into Vale. After all, she was programmed to suppress her feelings and emotions.

Going back to Sombra, she did feel that the Mexican grew up after The Eye revealed her identity and her doings to the world. Truth be told, she never really liked working with Sombra, nor trusted her. She has always had a mischievous and playful character back when she was in Talon. Not only that, Widow knew that the hacker had some suspicious doings behind her back, whether she was carrying it out on her own time, or during their missions. Like for example, she was proven right after The Eye revealed the small conversation between her and Talon's target, Katya Volskaya, the CEO of Volskaya Industries, who they were supposed to assassinate. The mission failed, because instead of killing her, Sombra kept Miss Katya alive in exchange for favours, or else she would leak info that she received technology from the onmics, the very same group that they were enemies with.

But with the recent events that happened over two weeks, Widow saw Sombra's old habits grow exponentially. She had new ambition and determination to take down this 'The Eye' organisation by all means.

And right now, Widow is seeing that growth in Sombra first-hand.

While she was self-reflecting on Sombra's development, she heard something by the side of the building that she was on. Slowly getting up, she went to check the source of the sound. She peered over the edge.

And she saw.

Nothing.

She then forgot that she had her visor, her infravision can help see targets through walls and objects. Pressing against her visor, she activated her recon visor.

Before it had the chance to come down to her eyes, a metal claw reached out from the ceiling from the floor below and grabbed her by the face. Widow was dazed. Dropping her rifle, she tried to grasp onto the claw, muffling her mouth as it lifted her off the ground, but when she saw what grabbed her, she knew that she was powerless against it.

It was a Null Sector onmic.

But its eyes are no longer yellow, but flashing red. And with an orange paint scar running down just off centre its face.

Widow's eyes widened.

It was The Eye.

The claw, which was bigger than her head, slammed her onto the ground with force. Now with the onmic on top of her, Widow tried to force the onmic's face away from her as it looked closely at her.

As she couldn't open her mouth to communicate with her team, she decided to try at least taking care of the onmic herself.

While the onmic was distracted with her, she side-eyed her dropped rifle. Silently moving her left hand, armed with her wrist-mounted grabbling hook, raised and tried to steadily aim for her rifle.

Sparring no time, she fired her grabble. The hook flew into the air.

She watched it in slow motion as it was about to land on the Widow's Kiss.

Only for another claw to snatch the hook just inches from her weapon.

She and the onmic on top of her turned to see another Null Sector onmic that had just come onto the rooftop, with Widow's grabble in its hand.

It gave Widow an emotionless look as it kicked her rifle further away from her reach.

The onmic on top of her looked back down on Widow. Normally, Talon's ex-top sniper would be able to take care of onmics and get out of this situation. All the while maintaining her calm and cold composure.

But for the first time in a long while, she was scared. Afraid of what they will do to her. Just like what Talon did to her.

She would not know as the onmic tightened its grip around her face, lifted her and slammed her back down onto the rooftop, knocking her out cold.

Reaper watched on as Sombra integrated the two captives. As she droned on with the endless questions, he couldn't help but feel something was off.

Stepping away, he turned around and faced the top of the building where Widowmaker was stationed for overwatch.

"Widow, status over."

There was no response from her comms. Very unusual for a professional and trained assassin to not respond or even acknowledge his calls.

Reaper brought out his shotguns, gripping them tightly.

Something was very wrong.

His demeanour didn't go unnoticed though.

"Reyes. I can tell something's up. What's wrong?" Reaper looked over his shoulder and saw Soldier 76 looking right back at him. Like Reaper, he held his rifle tightly.

"Widow's not responding, Jack"

76 looked up at the quiet residential building where Widow was stationed. Then without turning, he made his way through the crowd and onto the centre of the interrogation.

"Guys, we can question them later." 76 raised his hand to stop the interrogation. "We have company."

The surrounding taskforce then gets into a defensive position around John and Vale, armed and ready to fire at a moment's notice.

"This isn't over." Sombra looked down at the two, readying her Uzi.

The taskforce spread themselves out close to nearby buildings, some heading down towards the street, on the guard for the unknown enemy.

The still and quiet surroundings of the Libson neighbourhood did not help with the now tense atmosphere, adding to the suspense of the impending attack.

Everyone was looking in all directions. Some looked up into residential buildings and peered into fences of landed property, while others kept guard on the silent streets since it was so late at night.

One of them was the Junkers, particularly Junkrat and Roadhog. They were both slowly walking down the street keeping a lookout.

Junkrat slithered his way from house to house, looking for any onmic that might pose a threat. His so-called bodyguard, Roadhog, didn't mind Junkrat's antics, as long as he behaved himself. The chaotic duo would always get into trouble with authorities around the world and while some of their crimes are but not limited to robbery and utter destruction of property, they did not need the trouble when The Eye wanted them gone due to their activities. After all, they barely escaped their lives after their first, only and last encounter with them.

While Junkrat was peering into properties and the residents' private lives, Roadhog watched on, stopping him if he ever stepped out of line. Crossing his arms, he sighed, his head rolling backwards as waited for him to finish whatever he was doing, looking up into the cloudy skies.

Roadhog did find it a bit funny because just a while back, the sky was clear. The bright moon was casting its reflective light down on them during John and Vale's capture but now was completely overcast with no moon in sight.

"Jamison, get out of there." He called out to the explosive maniac.

"Aw, Hog, mate, I was just getting started."

As he came off the yard, he saw his partner looking up into the sky.

"Whatcha lookin' at Roadie?"

Junkrat then looked up at the clouded blue sky, then squinted. He may not be the brightest or smartest person in the taskforce, but he knew something was not right when the darkened clouds started to glow a tinge of orange.

Then, it happened.

A beam shot out from the sky and right down at them.

Without any hesitation, Junkrat pushed Roadhog onto the street, hoping to dodge the beam. The beam didn't come right at them but towards the unfortunate occupants of the house that Junkrat just left.

The explosion was bright once the beam made contact with the house, sending both a force of air and debris everywhere, forcing Junkrat and Roadhog to brace themselves. Once the dust had settled, the duo dusted themselves off, then looked at the property that once had a small one-storey house, now replaced by a giant crater in the middle of the land.

Junkrat heaved a big sigh of relief. "Did you see that explosion?! That was awesome!"

But seeing his partner's unimpressed reaction kind of knocked back some sense into him.

"I-I mean that was awesome, yeah. But you saw that wasn't me! It was the sky!"

By then, another beam shot down at another residential house nearby.

Near where John and Vale were, the beams shooting down and the explosions were now noticed by everyone.

"Was that Junkrat's doing?" Mei asked, looking up into the clouded atmosphere.

Just then, out from where the orange beam shot down, dropped what could be described as gigantic canisters.

That was when everyone realised what was happening.

"It's The Eye!" A voice cried out.

These gigantic canisters then split open to reveal the same Null Sector onmics that attacked the base in the Netherlands. And they began to march their way down from the streets and towards the taskforce.

The beams from above kept raining down on the slumbering rural community alone, and more devastating explosions rang out.

With so much happening in a span of a matter of seconds, the taskforce didn't have time to organise themselves since they were so dispersed.

One of the beams sent down was shot very close to where John and Vale were, the explosion sent the split pickup truck up into the air, and most had eyes focused on it.

It didn't dawn on them where it was going to land until it was literally over their heads.

For John and Vale, it was the window of opportunity for them. Their only main concern was getting out of there alive.

Scrambling away from the falling scrap heap, John and Vale took this chance to run away from the utter chaos that was unfolding. This though, did not go unnoticed.

"Hey! The two are escaping!" The green cyborg ninja cried out.

It was a short distance away from the nearest house from they were. For the two of them, it was the sprint of their lives.

From behind, split away from the main group, the two could see that they were given chase. First was Sombra. No surprise. Then, there was the cyborg ninja, Genji. Then there was the hyperactive and cheery lady, Tracer, who just blinked right behind them, her twin pulse pistols ready to fire. Lastly, there was also Sojourn, who just leapt into the air, her railgun aimed at John and Vale.

Gunfire was now being fired from the taskforce giving chase. Vale brought her riot shield up to protect them from the gunfire.

They were just meters away from the front porch. But the taskforce was closer to them, Tracer being the closest to them, blinking to an arm's reach of Vale's shield.

But as soon as she touched it, a beam was fired.

And it landed right between John and Vale and the taskforce.

The blast sent John and Vale into the house at a great speed, sending them straight through the front door and onto the hard wooden floor.

Both felt the indescribable shock, the disorientation and the ringing in the ears from the explosion that they had felt. John's vision was at best blurry as he tried to cope with the aftermath.

From what he could make out, the explosion had caused most of the windows in the house that they were now in to be blown out completely. Secondly was the utter destruction that he could make out. The front porch which was once decorated with plants, now didn't exist, only a charred and burnt memory of it remains.

He then remembered about the taskforce. What happened to them? Did they make it?

From where he lay, he couldn't see them. So he tried to prop himself up to get a better view.

And he saw them. Lying across the crater opposite from the where the front porch used to be. With his blurry vision fading away, he could see that they were at least injured. Their bodies were covered in burns, cuts, bruises, or shrapnel wounds. The worst case is that they may be dead.

John could only look on at the injured taskforce, hearing their groans. And that was when the immense guilt started to pour in.

They may have come to this world and into this mess, but just to try getting out of it like this? Injuring and hurting other people in the process? It went against everything they stood for.

It didn't have to end like this.

"-ohn, John!" We got to go!"

John felt a jolt on his shoulder as Vale now stood beside him, offering her hand. And without hesitation, he grabbed it and got onto his feet.

He took one last look at the downed taskforce before spiriting behind Vale and out of the house.

The total disorganisation of the taskforce for the unexpected attack was a gross understatement. Members that went down the street to investigate possible intrusions were ambushed by these laser beams that came out from the clouded sky, followed by the massive number of various onmics that were now deployed.

Winston could only look at the carnage that was unfolding, behind the cover of his bubble-shaped shield. The intercoms were being filled with frantic and urgent calls, some were calling for aid, and others were just being cut off completely either by the beams shooting down or the gunfire that was now erupting from the onmics. They were constantly overlapping one after the other.

Then there was the case of the escaping duo. He never really wanted to call them criminals. With Echo's theory previously in his head, it made sense to treat them without any brash words or brute force. And from the way they talked and handled themselves when they got caught was more professional than he thought it was.

But now, they were getting away from the ambush, implying that they were the ones behind it.

The other main concern was the crucial device that was so important to them.

Winston spared no time to grab the important weapon that lay on the street. Still intact as it was when Vale somehow magically made it appear out of thin air, gently brushing it to make sure it was not damaged.

However, his relief was short-lived when he heard cracking above him. He looked and saw that his shield was in a critical state. More and more cracks from the raining bullets and explosives were beginning to show and destroy his only protection.

Then as if it wasn't his only issue, an explosion rocked at a nearby house.

But then he saw who was caught in it.

His eyes widen at the scene. There lying near the crater, were the agents giving John and Vale chase. Tracer and Sombra lay there unmoving, their bodies covered in cuts and burns. And from the look of their bleeding faces, he could tell that they were seriously injured.

Genji and Sojourn were not that far off worse in comparison. Due to their cybernetic attachments, he could see that parts of the protective plating on some of their limbs and bodies became scuffed and detached when the blast occurred. Thankfully, both Genji and Sojourn were alright and the only ones conscious after the explosion. And also that they were still able to function afterwards.

"Genji! Sojourn! I am glad that both of you are alright." He rushed towards the two, helping them up.

Genji and Sojorun groaned as they both got up onto their feet. Both were holding their chest, breathing slowly after what they had to go through.

"We're fine, Winston," Sojourn reassured the scientist despite her injury.

"This is bad. But we got the weapon, we need to out of here, regroup and-"

"Halt." A deep automated voice commanded.

The three slowly turned to see one of the onmics pointing his plasma cannon arm directly at the trio, accompanied by the big squadron of onmics of various makes, lined up right behind it.

By this point, a massive crowd of onmics were now occupying the town, standing proud and tall on the wrecked parked cars, the ruined houses and the scathed residential buildings.

Right down the road were the poor residents of the neighbourhood, who were now gathered and surrounded by the brutal war machines.

And there, amongst the innocent prisoners of war. A sight that Winston didn't want to see.

There were the rest of the taskforce. Most were forced to their knees, arms up in surrender.

Most of the tanks were bound with light-bending rope, apart from , who was forced out of her critically damaged mech.

The rest were either bound with the same light-bending rope or forced onto their knees, giving up their arms to the enemy.

Then the thing that added to the fear factor was the gigantic command ship that hovered right above the small neighbourhood, which explains the yellow beams of light that came shooting down.

The onmics surrounded the scientist and his injured colleagues, their weapons raised and glowing, ready to fire. Winston looked to his injured below him, then to the former Commander and the cyborg ninja, who gave a sad nod, realising that fighting the enemy would be a foolish decision.

With a heavy grunt, he slowly made his way to the onmic who commanded him, its weapon arm slowly following him. The ape stopped right in front of it, dropping the prototype bomb right at its feet.

Then, like his fellow members of the taskforce, Winston, Sojourn and Genji raised their arms in utter defeat.
