Baraquiel 35
The pitch descended into silence, there were no murmurs. They'd Endeavour speak and they had heard Baraquiel announce the winner. "Endeavour, take him to his residence. We'll sort this out later."
Shoto was stunned, he turned to Izuku who was staring at him panic-stricken and bowed to him. "I'm so sorry, Midoriya."
Izuku still in shock "Todoroki, I need time to think before I forgive you."
Shoto bowed again, and quickly left the stadium. Baraquiel turned back to him "Are you alright, Midoriya?"
Izuku let out a piercing breath and nodded "I will be." He was reeling, his best friend, brother-figure and fellow student had just tried to kill him! He was out of the tournament, but he was lost. He barely felt Baraquiel wrap his arm around his shoulder and lead him out of the arena and towards the canteen, everything was numb. He could hear his teachers footsteps, the heavy booted footfalls were duller than ever, he vaguely recognised the thump and crash of food landing in front of him. He looked up, it wasn't Baraquiel looking at him but rather Harry.
"That was a shocking turn of events and an utter shitshow."
Izuku snorted and a thin smile crossed his face "Why, Harry? Why'd Shoto do this?"
Harry released a piercing breath and Izuku watched as his teacher seemingly aged twenty years in three seconds. "I'm not going to make any judgements…"
"Bullshit. He's your in-law, you trained the pair of us! You should be judging him!"
"Be careful in how you speak to me, Izuku, Midoriya. Your match with Todoroki Shoto was until that point a masterclass performance. I am unbelievably disappointed in my student and furious at my brother-in-law. I will not judge because that is not what a hero does…What does a hero do?"
Izuku paused "A hero observes, reinforces his observations with facts and then makes a judgement. You do not possess all of the facts, so what does your keen observation tell you?"
Harry snorted "This festival is a show-and-tell and selling show of UA demonstrating the latest batch of fresh merchandise. At the festival, all Hero Students have to SHOW OFF to get noticed and begin to network and gain connections for their careers. My observation is that Shoto got carried away with the showing and got carried with what could be done instead of considering what should be done. My answers, Izuku, are not detracting from the display of pure stupidity that has been done."
Baraquiel, it's Midnight.
Send traffic Midnight.
The crowds getting anxious, I haven't declared a victor and is Midoriya alright to continue? Over.
Give me a moment, over.
Harry turned to Izuku "The crowds getting antsy, Midnight hasn't officially declared a victor, despite me disqualifying Shoto."
Izuku nodded "I'll do it. I have some scores to settle."
Harry chuckled and held his out, which Izuku took and they shook. "I'm proud of you Izuku…All Might is as well."
Baraquiel to Midnight.
Send traffic, it's so exhilarating to know someone knows protocols, over.
Not interested in what gets you running, Midnight. Midoriya will continue.
Up in the stadium, Midnight smirked "Midoriya ADVANCES!" The crowds' cheers nearly deafened her. "TENYA IIDA vs KAMINARI DENKI!" She announced, the crowd began to cheer as the teens headed out. They knew that the next match wouldn't hold a candle to the previous match, even though they wanted another high-octane and field-destroying match they weren't so desperate for another pair of teens to try and kill one another. This one ended up being rather entertaining for the most part, it had devolved into an extreme game of cat and mouse, engines against electricity and for some, they were glad that the electricity teen won.
Kaminari had kept giving ground by avoiding the exceptionally, powerful kicks and stomps from the vice-representative of the class. "I'm sorry Kaminari RECIPRIO BURST!" Iida yelled as gunned his quirk at full throttle as he charged towards his peer. Kaminari nearly wet his pants as the engines began to rev and burn. "You've got this. He's good in a straight line…he can't turn. Stay still, stay calm. Circulate, breathe." He told himself, he activated his quirk "Lightning Style: Shunshin!" He executed his technique as Iida's hands touched his shirt.
For Iida, he had no chance to react. He thought he had this! However, Kaminari…of his peers, Iida had quickly marked up as a lacksidial student. So far he'd been proven right, however, in the past week he had changed dramatically! It hadn't been anticipated, so Iida charged out of the arena only to just about skid to a safe stop next to the barrier.
The Fumikage and Ashido match was less of a game, more of a squash fest. Ashido in the eyes of the public had been exemplary against her first opponent; unfortunately for her, Fumikage simply dominated her. She had no chance against the avian-headed teen's quirk which gleefully pushed the breakdancing alien out of bounds with no real trouble.
The final fight of the quarter-finals was Bakugo vs Kirishima. Whilst, not as destructive as Todoroki and Midoriya's match but it was a bone-bruising fight. Bakugo looked liked he was nearing the end of his fighting capability as his explosions barely seemed to be hindering Kirishima; who appeared to be effortlessly tanking the explosions. However, Bakugo's stubbornness and lust for a good fight persevered allowing him to defeat his friend.
(Shoto)
Enji walked with his son towards his daughter's House "Todoroki…what happened?" Enji looked up to see strangers, sitting outside the house babysitting his grandchildren.
"Athena-san, I…messed up." Shoto stated as he smiled weakly at his niece and nephew. The newly named Athena stood up, carefully keeping the children behind her made her way towards them.
"Athena, I'm Endeavour." Enji announced nodding curtly to her.
"Baraquiel's gifu?" Endeavour paused, his mind racing quickly.
"Granger Hermyonee?" He replied, "Sorry for the horrible mispronunciation." He grudgingly supplied.
Athena grinned "Call me Athena, please, Endeavour. Now, little Todoroki…what did you do? I'm not going to judge, or get angry…"
"I…got carried away in my fight with Midoriya and I wanted to demonstrate how well I could use my abilities and I…nearly ended up killing him."
Hiro and Nozomi looked at their uncle with horror in their eyes "Mean to, Oji?" Hiro questioned as Nozomi asked "Want to?"
"No…" Shoto slouched onto the floor as he made eye contact with them "Mei-Chan, Oi-chan, your Oji made a bad choice." Nozomi and Hiro looked at one another, nodded before they toddled over to him and hugged him. Before Hiro saw Endeavour "Sofu!"
Athena smiled as Endeavour picked up his Grandson. "I'll get the kettle on."
Enji had never felt more out of his depth, his grandchildren were abnormally smart and perceptive. There was Athena who had with very little effort got Shoto to explain his actions. The Sports Festival was playing in the background allowing for those not watching in the stadium to watch and listen at home or at work.
"I…wanted to show off. I wanted to be seen as Todoroki Shoto; not as an extension of Endeavour And his Asspirations to be better than All Might. I wanted to be seen as Me, not an extension of my In-laws. That's why I never used the fire of my quirk, father, because I remember the hell and torture, you called training, to use my flames. Then Harry began to train me and treated me like family, more than you did. Then he introduced me to Midoriya who effortlessly became my closest friend. When we fought, I was fighting three different versions of me…it was horrifying. At one point Izuku and I were cracking jokes as we fought, without a care in the world and then…the next thing I know I'm standing over Midoriya and you and Baraquiel are dispelling my attack. I completely understand where Baraquiel was coming from but you…"
"Shoto…I have made a plethora of mistakes, and I will make more. The worst of those mistakes have been in regard to my family. I'm, sorry, I am beginning to change but I am finding it hard. Finding it hard to separate Todoroki Enji from Endeavour so I'll endeavour to find that balance and improve on things for the future. As for this…Shoto, I'll leave it up to Fuyumi to handle your punishment; but I am going to ask you to leave your phone on the kitchen table and leave it their until the end of today. You are my son, Shoto, yes I considered you my masterpiece but you are so much more than that."
Endeavour stood up, nodded to Athena and scooped up his grandchildren to give them one last hug, before depositing them on the sofa. He left and ignited his typical Endeavour mask. Athena watched him go, before turning to Shoto. "You might as well get comfortable, Shoto, and stay here. No phone."
Shoto nodded and he plopped himself on the couch, picking up his niece and nephew and they settled down to watch the Semi-Finals.
(Harry et al)
Aizawa had cornered Harry as he returned Midoriya to the champion's waiting room "What's going to be done about Todoroki?"
Harry looked at his mentor and sighed "Not a fucking clue. Not a fucking clue. He needs to speak to Hound Dog, most, certainly. I'm not about to let him go on any Hero Internship in his present state. I don't fucking care who offers him a place but he's not going anywhere."
"The HPSC will want…" Aizawa began, he hated bringing them up especially when talking to his mentee about them. Aizawa had witnessed their crass, crumpled and quite frankly crap handling of every interaction Baraquiel had with them.
"They can go fuck themselves if they think that, they can order us to send cracked students out into the public. Also…what the fuck is being done about Mineta?" Harry snapped. "I know for a fact that I've sent you two emails. One as a TA to you as a Teacher, one to your Vice-Principle Account and another to Nezu and nothing has been done… I've warned him, I've given him detentions and quite frankly I try to keep him away from the Heroines-in-training."
Aizawa sighed "I'm in your corner about him. Unfortunately, everything in Japan, Hari links back to affluence, influence and prestige of one's family name…Yes, there are credible viable and certifiable amounts of evidence that would, should, and could warrant immediate expulsion and criminal charges to go with it. The Mineta family has…a certain clout in the Heroics Industry meaning…"
"Unless we can get dirt on the main members of the Mineta family to leverage against them to justify his removal…What about punting him down a department? General Studies? That way he's Cementoss' and Mics' problem AND his family will have no reason or ability to keep him in UA?" Harry countered.
"That would require swapping someone out of General Education and into Heroics, which would lead us into a confrontation with the Mineta family and probably the Asui family as well."
Harry let out a wobbly breath "Aizawa-senpai, do you trust me?"
"Yes, I do. However, I must caution you that you cannot interfere with these proceedings. I know how good you are at catching villains and how dogged you can be. This…idea of yours, must be done by Mineta's own doing."
Harry sighed "Fine."
Aizawa chuckled at his friend "Go. We've got our students in the final."
Harry rolled his eyes.
(1-A Semifinalists)
The semi-finalist's room was akin to a tinderbox. Bakugo was growling at everyone, and Tokyami was analysing Denki and Midoriya as they would logically be his opponents in the final.
"Midoriya! Holy shit…it's me and you." Denki exclaimed.
"IT'S ME AND ONLY…" Bakugo snarled.
"You can't compete in two semi-finals Bakugo. I'm surprised that I'm here, and if I'm right…as is Denki. Then there is the fact that we're very close to Baraquiel-Sensei."
Bakugo growled at the name of their Assistant Homeroom Teacher, ever since that asshole had stopped him from squashing Deku like the bug he was. Bakugo had decided to treat him cordially, he was scared of the Teacher. He wasn't scared of Aizawa in the same way he was scared of Potter, with Aizawa he was pretty sure there would be rational and logical reason behind it; whereas Potter-sensei…he was a different kettle of fish entirely. He'd forced Bakugo into therapy just to keep him on the Hero Programme! Bakugo had scoffed at the need for therapy but when he remembered how 'less pissed off' he was after it, he realised that Potter-sensei spoke a lot of sense. It rankled him, that Potter-sensei had decided to train DEKU, that useless quirkless punk was getting tailored training from the Thunder Hero. It wasn't fair! He, Bakugo, had the better quirk and the makings of the next Number One Hero so why wouldn't Potter train him?
If Baukgo had asked, Baraquiel would probably have said yes. However, Bakugo didn't and subsequently had not been trained yet.
Meanwhile Denki looked at Midoriya "You alright?"
"Getting there why?"
Denki grinned, maybe it was time for a little bit of smack-talking "You survived Todoroki…what makes you think fate's gonna save you a second time?"
Izuku snorted "First thing sparkplug, you've only just started training under sensei. Second…Todoroki and I have been training for at least a year, maybe more. Thirdly…Denki, no offence to this but of the three opponents I might have, you're the one I'm least worried about."
Tokyami and Bakugo winced at the put down "Deku…where am I in your…observations?" Bakugo growled.
"Second." Izuku grinned as he saw blood vessels pop in the Blonde's head. Thankfully, Midnights voice echoed through the tannoy.
"THE FIRST MATCH OF THE SEMIFINALS IS KAMINARI DENKI VS MIDORIYA IZUKU!"
Izuku and Denki nodded to one another before heading up into the arena.
