Trouble was befalling the entire city thanks to The Green Goblin in this quest to find Spider-Man to have their battle, The Daily Bugle was on high alert reporting everything going on. Of course, JJ knew exactly who to blame for the current situation. "That wall crawling menace is responsible for this mess! How has nobody gone after him already? That freak wouldn't be attacking the city with his band of thugs if Spider-Man would just give himself up!" JJ exclaimed to Robby.
"It's not Spider-Man's fault a super villain has it out for him. How could him being killed or arrested fix anything right now anyways? That Goblin is flying around firing rockets around the city at random and his goons are firing at random too!"
JJ frowned. "Well, best case scenario then would be those two taking each other out! That'd be a great ending!" He exclaimed, more cheerful again.
Outside, Spider-Man was swinging around trying to find The Green Goblin, while ignoring calls from MJ wanting to keep focused, at least that's what his thoughts were saying repeatedly to leave everyone out of this.
Where is that lunatic? I'm going to rip him apart! This ends tonight, he's caused enough destruction for a lifetime. And that lifetime is about to come to an end! He swung around leaping up a building spotting his foe.
"Well, well! About time we found each other fool!" Green Goblin exclaimed, keeping his distance from the hero.
"You're going to regret every mistake you've made today. This ends now!" Spider-Man shouted at him, shooting webbing at him.
This missed as Goblin was quite fast on his glider. "Shame you got rid of that black suit, I was interested in tearing that new suit apart! I digress, our battle shall be a legendary one! So we shouldn't do it here, not yet! I want the whole city to see your failure. You'll know where I want our battle to be, you'll love it! So keep your eyes peeled and don't be late, or people will die!" He started to fly off, but Spidey wasn't listening to his request and tried webbing onto the glider going for a ride.
"Can't escape me that easily!" Spider-Man cried out.
"We shall see about that!" Green Goblin replied laughing, flying into a building making Spidey come along crashing inside having the web snap landing on a desk in an office. Then he heard an explosion.
"Oh come on!" Spider-Man shook his head and investigated finding Goblin blowing a hole in the floor, so he on instinct webbed a couple people who nearly slipped to safety. "Is everyone alright?" He questioned quickly.
The workers nodded and Spider-Man rushed back outside looking for The Green Goblin, with no luck.
He got away! Spidey punched a wall. All this power and I couldn't catch that madman! I'm going to rip him in two! This battle he promised, I'm going to take him down. I'll be ready for that. He then swung off getting ready.
After hours of waiting and preparing, Peter was getting more impatient about the incoming battle with The Green Goblin. The sun was beginning to lower, then some lights shined bright from Times Square, which was out of the ordinary leading to investigate this commotion finding himself a goblin.
The Green Goblin was flying around in cycles with a few goons standing around, in front of bombs tied to people.
"What in the name of?" Spider-Man wondered, allowed, to himself.
"Cerious are we Spider? Consider these poor folk insurance policies, to make certain the police keep their distance! And any other mistaken heroes, after all. This really is our hour to shine! Nobody will be stealing that thunder!" He laughed.
Peter landed on the ground clenching his fist. "I'm going to tear you into two! You're a dead Goblin!"
Green Goblin laughed, hopping off his glider cracking his knuckles and neck. "I'm going to enjoy this, most certainly!"
"No, no I don't believe you will." Spider-Man replied, shooting webs at his face trying to blind his foe which Green Goblin easily ripped off. "I've got more where that came from!" He exclaimed, continuing to shoot webs and rushing towards him, creaking his fists across the Goblin's face. This was while holding back the full strength of his black suit, he could feel the rage boiling inside and was afraid to let it out
"Was that meant to hurt?" He asked with a grin grabbing onto Spider-Man slamming him into the ground punching him significantly harder. Then put his foot over Spidey's head attempting to crush him. "I'm disappointed, you talked about a big game, little arachnide. All just to die like this!"
Spider-Man with his loose hand webbed right onto his foe's face again pulling him down smacking him and spun upwards kicking the Goblin backwards. "Oh, I'm just getting warmed up still, Gobbie."
"Ah! I was hoping so!" He chuckled sinisterly, then started throwing some razer bats at the hero. Instead of avoiding them, Spider-Man swiftly punched them all, shattering them. Apart from one which he missed slicing into the suit, which simply healed itself revealing it was clearly not the normal red and blue.
"Hmmm, what's this now? A regenerative suit? A black one, hiding something, are we little spider?" Green Goblin wondered.
Spider-Man didn't respond to that comment rushing towards his foe shouting and tried to continue the fight jumping at him missing, but making a creak in the ground. "See that? Let's test with your skull!"
"Sounds like fun, let's go both ways!" Green Goblin replied cheerfully throwing a punkin bomb nearly hitting Spider-Man, doing some damage harming the suit a bit with the fire left behind brushing it off as it healed. "Fire seems to make your special suit unhappy, allow me to introduce you to some more tricks with my glider!" He exclaimed pleased as the glider flew on its own after Spidey.
"This is becoming increasingly worse and worse." He remarked and started to run, heading up the side of a building while it was in hot pursuit, now literally as it started shooting fire in front of it. "Oh, that's bad." He used his webs, throwing himself up there, as the glider chased right after him. "Fine then." He accepted stopping his defensive stance hopping onto the glider trying to break it instead getting electrocuted by it and blasted off the building crashing into the ground.
"Oh dear! Spider took a nasty fall, now the Goblin will wash the spider out!" He exclaimed, laughing trumpently.
Spider-Man stood back up, with the red and blue facade disappearing and the black suit being revealed looking less like the original costume. "No more Mr. Nice Spider-Man." He remarked, creaking his fists.
The Green Goblin smirked. "Just what I wanted to hear!" He cackled hoping onto his glider preparing to continue their battle.
Elsewhere, MJ was frantically calling Ava aka White Tiger watching on the news the brutal battle taking place in Times Squire as Spider-Man continued his fight as the city watched. "Hello? Ava?"
"I imagine you saw Peter on the news, right? Assuming not, there is a major problem that needs to be discussed." She immediately replied.
"Yeah, I did this really seriously bad. He needs help, or to be stopped. That black suit made him get out of control. I can tell it's bringing out the worst in his personality." MJ said with a frown.
Ava sighed. "I agree. His scent is all wrong. There are two, that suit is more than likely wearing him if it's truly an alien. This is serious. Spider-Man isn't acting like himself and this needs to end now."
Then there was a tap on the window of MJ's room, which was White Tiger. After a brief moment of surprise she let her in. "Uh, no offense, but this isn't exactly subtle. You're wearing an all white costume!"
"This is an emergency, drastic measures call for lack of subtlety, sorry. Our friend needs us and I know we don't know each other too well, but we need to act quickly. Do you want to help? Otherwise I can do it by myself." Ava said seriously and in a rush to get out of there.
MJ didn't need a moment to think. "Let's go, do you have a car?"
"Not quite, I don't even have my driver's license yet. Do you mind being carried? I'm pretty fast." Ava replied, stretching.
"Uh, yeah. Can I get a hoodie? I don't want my face to be seen." She asked and did so after getting a nod then continued speaking. "So, have you carried anyone before across the city?"
Ava thought about it. "I have before, technically. I carried someone to the hospital once, only a few blocks away. Does that count?"
"Close enough. Just please don't drop me." MJ replied sarcastically and put the hood over her face the best she could.
"Don't worry I won't. Let's go." Ava responded and put Mary Jane around her shoulders making sure she was stable. "Hold on tight." They departed heading off to help.
Back over in Times Square, the battle raged on between the two. Eddie Brock was watching closely and taking pictures, knowing he'd need to do whatever the man in black said. Which right now, was following Spider-Man.
The hero fell to the ground for a moment, this was a major chance for Eddie as he rushed over managing to put a tracker onto Spidey. Which he didn't realize or feel, considering how distracted he was by the Green Goblin, he did however notice Brock.
"Great, what are you doing here? Wanting to watch me get my behind kicked hmm? Not happening pal!" Spider-Man grabbed his camera and smashed it, just in time for the Green Goblin to come flying in grabbing him again to continue their battle in the sky cackling like a madman, which he was of course.
"My camera!" Eddie exclaimed, knowing the man would be pissed about not having more photos. "Damned little creep." He sighed and then checked his tracker seeing it was active. "Finally something is going right! I'll be back home with my family soon enough, nothing is going to prevent that." Eddie expressed to himself feeling proud.
In the sky above, Spider-Man was in a great struggle with his enemy trying to get a hold to strangle him.
"Trying to grab my neck aren't you! Wanting to break my neck hmm?" Green Goblin mocked him, laughing at his effort. Only to his surprise Spider-Man did grab a hold and started to squeeze on his foe's neck.
"Not trying, doing!" Spider-Man remarked with a shout.
Knowing he was in trouble, Green Goblin directed them into a building making them crash inside getting Spidey off.
"Playing for keeps are we?" Goblin questioned surprised.
"You asked for it. And I'm one who's going to deliver! I used to think I'd never cross this line, but right now. Oh yeah, it's seeming so much easier! So much simpler to break you into two, guilt free!" Spider-Man exclaimed in a grim tone.
Green Goblin didn't find this as funny, seeing how serious his foe was and clearly far stronger than before. In this case it called for a drastic measure of his own to ensure a chance at survival. The madman threw down a pumpkin bomb right at their feet blasting both men back.
The suit wasn't reacting well to the blast, nearly coming off and sounding like it was shrieking in pain. Peter quickly brushed off the flames, seeing was truly harming him to a greater effect than ever before.
Green Goblin noticed this, feeling pleased once more. "My oh my, fire really, really makes your alien friend mad! An alien of which you stole it appears, I should've known you were a thief! You know what people did to cocks back in the olden days?"
"A good talking to?" Spidey responded sarcastically, feeling a bit more like himself again with the suit losing its grip.
"Death, by fire! Hell fire!" He exclaimed cackling like mad and throwing punkin bombs everywhere in the building, causing it to burst into flames.
Spider-Man grit his teeth, feeling the suit taking it hold again and rushed towards his foe leaping on him crashing them though a floor beating down onto Green Goblin. Then throwing him across the room, as the flames started to creep down there too. "I really have had it."
"Disappointing, I still have a couple more tricks up my sleeve." Green Goblin said with his voice sounding more injured. His next trip was a loud sound, it refebrated through Peter's head and body. Not to mention making the suit freak out again. "Ah! Sound is painful too!" He shouted at the top of his lungs.
Spidey webbed onto Goblin pulling him close, finding the source of the sound smashing it. "Die!" He yelled, grabbing his enemy's throat again and pulled him towards a window putting a web around Green Goblin's neak. "You know what else happened in the olden days to filth like you?" He remarked with a gruff voice about to drop him and with the flames engulfing the building around them. "A hanging." With that, Spider-Man let go and started to hang his foe, until the webline was cut. This allowed Goblin to have a chance to escape falling, then getting picked up again by his glider flying away again, clearly having enough of the battle with his mask getting damaged.
Furious he shouted out. "Who let him go!" Spider-Man was about to give chase after him, only for White Tiger with MJ to come into the building at last.
"Peter! Stop!" MJ shouted at him, which did give him pause.
"What are you two doing here? I had this handled, if you hadn't interfered The Green Goblin would've never been able to hurt anyone ever again!" Spider-Man said, sounding enraged in tune.
White Tiger stepped in front of MJ. "You were about to kill a man, murder him. That's not who you are Peter. It's that alien wrapping your mind! It's a parasite!"
"We're not a parasite." He responded in a chilling maner.
The women looked at each other not finding that promising.
MJ looked in distress. "Please listen to us, you just said we! It's trying to take over you, turn you into a killer. Trying to bring out the worst in you!" The flames ragged on while they spoke. "We have to get out of there, the fire is moving quickly!"
"Then you should leave, now. I have a Goblin to catch." Peter replied, ignoring what they were claiming.
White Tiger grabbed his arm. "This ends now. That suit has to go. There must be a way to get rid of that."
He looked unhappy with this idea and threw White Tiger out of the window on instinct, realizing immediately what he did, giving a webline to hold onto. "I'm sorry! I have no idea why I did that!"
"It's the alien Peter!" MJ continued to persist. "Please, can't you see what it's doing? You threw her out of a window!"
Peter nodded in agreement. "You're right, I'm out of control." Then he seemed more aggressive again waving it off. "No, no, everything is fine. This is all better this way, what did wearing my classic red and blue get me? This suit is giving me power! If not for your intervention I would've permanently stopped The Green Goblin! That madman nearly killed me before, now I can turn the tables on him!"
"You have been nearly beaten dozens of times and you always bounce back. Spider-Man always has stopped the bad guys, the right way!" MJ grabbed Peter's hands tightly. "Look at me. Crossing the line isn't what you want, killing a guy like Green Goblin would only make you on his level. Nothing you do or have been though has been easy, but that's a point of pride for you. That's something I love about you Peter! No matter what life throws at you, it nevers keeps you down. You always keep fighting forward and to be a better man." She reminded him looking determined to break through to him. Peter pulled off his mask, looking like it had worked.
"You're right! I'm losing myself, this is a parasite! Turning me into a monster! This isn't who I am!" Spider-Man cried and tried to rip it off.
He then heard a voice in his head. Why are you doing this? We are so much stronger, greater and powerful together!
"What? It's talking to me! I hear it!" He exclaimed.
MJ stayed close. "Don't listen to it, obviously it'll do anything to stay attached. It needs you, but you don't need it!"
Spider-Man tried to rip the suit off and failed once again. "I need to see doctor Conners, he'll get it off!"
We'll destroy his laboratory before we allow that! It responded furiously and Peter could feel it fighting him.
MJ grabbed onto him. "Fight this Peter, come on!" She paused and looked right at him in the eyes. "Peter, I love you, I do love you okay. I love you so much and I need you to fight this!" She said to him genuinely.
He looked at her with clearity. "You do? I, I love you too MJ." He then sighed heavily. "I have to get away, deal with it, stop this, once and for all, I swear to you MJ! I'll come back!" Spider-Man exclaimed and put back on his mask rushing away.
White Tiger came back inside just as he left. "Where is he going now?"
"He might be heading to see a doctor we know, if he's not. I have no idea." MJ replied looking greatly concerned.
"Wherever he is, hopefully he'll destroy that thing." White Tiger sighed.
Spider-Man was swinging away quickly, while the police were on the ground continuing to pursue after him in the air. Considering his speed, evading them was easy enough.
"That captain is really getting on our nerves! My nerves! This is out of control, I need to find somewhere to go." He said to himself and then noticed a church. "The bell! Of course, literally a saving grace!" Spidey rushed inside to the tower throwing himself at the bell harming the suit.
Unknown to him, Eddie Brock was following along heading inside of the church close on his tail hoping to find something.
All his struggling with the suit did destroy tracker on him which he didn't realize considering his current fight.
Why are you doing this to us! You're going to destroy us!
"Well, you know. Sometimes, hard choices need to be made!" Spider-Man exclaimed, continuing to punch the bell.
This is a terrible mistake! We're a team, helping you grow more powerful to crush these dangerous villains ruining the lives of people in this city. Together we can have what we want.
Peter shook his head and his hands sporadically banging on the bell as the suit continued to freak out. "No, we have completely different ideas of right and wrong! You were bringing out the worst in me!"
Sometimes force is the only answer and aggression. Your friends were selfish, foolish people. There are monsters that need to be eradicated from this world, we see that! Together we do! The world needs protection, you need protection! The symbiote pleaded, with its voice sounding desperate.
"You're lying, that isn't what you want! It's to use me, wrap me into someone else. If you actually wanted what I did, there wouldn't be any outburst with my friends. They drive me a little nuts sometimes and obviously mistakes are being made but I care about them. Humans make mistakes! My friends make mistakes, I make them, everyone does! Even that Green Goblin character, taking his life would make me more like the evil you claim to despise!" Peter yelled, tearing off the suit piece by piece.
You give us no choice, if you intend to destroy us then we must protect ourself! It yelled in his mind then started shooting tentacles trying to overwhelm Peter with more goo surrendering the tower.
"Sounds like I have no choice either then!" Peter exclaimed, continuing to bang on the bell, hurting it further, but got pulled back for a moment with the symbiote trying to take over again.
"I won't give up!" He broke loose again punching the bell repeatedly sending it back.
Without us, you have nothing. You'll be weak again! Why would you ever want that again? You have such great enemies, together we can tear them all apart you can protect yourself!
Peter shook his head. "No, you're wrong. I know in my heart what I'm fighting for, for what I stand for. With Great Power, There Must Also Come Great Responsibility. Those words will forever be a part of who I am, what I stand for. I have all the power I need and all I need in my life is already there. I'm stronger than you think! I most certainly don't need you!" He exclaimed, finally sending it away with the vibrations making it fall down the tower. Seeing how weak it was, Peter assumed it was destroyed looking down seeing it swithling up into almost nothing. Eddie Brock hid from his sight, along with watching as Peter pulled off his mask taking a breath of relief. Then putting back on his mask, he swung off feeling trumpetent in his proseved victory.
"He's Spider-Man! That's valuable information, maybe I could use it!" Brock realized and almost headed off, before being caught by something, gooy.
Elsewhere in NYC, The Green Goblin had made his escape returning back to his hideout finding Stromm waiting for him.
"Spider-Man, he was stronger than me! Far stronger and he found something, literally out of this world! A mighty beast, an alien." Goblin expressed. "I heard of a legendary hunter who finds his prey, always wins. Studying them relentlessly, perhaps I should hire this man. Or maybe I'll just take from their example, study the spider. I'll destroy my enemy, entirely!" He declared and then grabbed his head. "Osborn is coming back, Stromm together we can create a lot. Remember that."
Norman Osborn then took back control, ripping off the mask and throwing it onto the ground looking completely disgusted with himself. "He's getting stronger everyday Stromm, he murdered people today. Nearly got me killed! This is completely out of control, I have to stop this!" Osborn exclaimed.
"Stop this, how?" Stromm asked, looking skeptical.
"By doing whatever I must, perhaps we could create a counter formula to suppress the Goblin, even eradicate him!" Osborn proposed with determination in his eyes.
Stromm still looked uncertain. "He is technically a part of you, isn't he?"
"Of course not!" Osborn waved off the thought. "The Green Goblin was created for the failure of our gas, a monster within me was created by our failings. Now we must destroy it before anyone else gets harmed!"
"The gas's intention was to make someone stronger, more intelligent, complete. How did it create another person within you?" Stromm wondered.
Osborn pressed his fingers into his forehead. "This has to end, I'll send myself to prison if I have to, I won't let the Goblin win!"
"Prison? That seems like an overreaction, you'd have to talk to the authorities then, it seems like an overreaction, Mr. Osborn." Stromm replied.
"It's necessary. Whatever I have to do, it'll be done." Norman Osborn said seriously looking at Stromm, who seemed not pleased by this, but accepted getting to work on creating a blocker.
Elsewhere, Peter had returned back home, more accurately to see MJ who was back in her room pacing.
"Oh thank god!" She exclaimed and rushed to him, embracing each other. "The suit, it's gone isn't it?"
Peter nodded, holding MJ closely. "Yes, I got rid of it. Everything is going to be okay now MJ, you know thinking of you made me feel finally able to break through and everyone else who's been there for me. Where is Ava by the way? I didn't hurt her did I? I remember throwing her out of a window."
"She was okay, you caught her too. Right now Ava was trying to find you, guess we should call her huh? Tell her you're okay." MJ replied softly.
"That's a relief. So uh, there is an elephant in the room isn't there? Like a super huge one that's suffocating the room." Peter responded awkwardly, not exactly sure of how to proceed forward.
MJ looked at him. "For a really smart guy, you really can be pretty stupid."
"I can, can't I huh? Well, after being nearly taken over by an insane alien bend on being awfully unfriendly, I'd like to be smarter and make better choices, like saying stuff I should've said a really long time ago." Peter admitted and took a deep breath, which felt like taking all the air in the room. "We both said I love you, I didn't imagine that did I? Cause, I do love you. So much, MJ." Peter went silent, not sure of whatever to say for the moment.
Mary Jane moved in and kissed him deeply, giving a pretty clear answer. "I love you too you big loveable goof. Never scare me like that again, promise?"
"Well, not sure if I can promise something like that." Peter replied with a srug. "I can promise I love you and saying that was by far the best choice I ever made."
MJ laughed softly. "Well, I said it first you know."
"True, I did say it first the second time! That's gotta count for something right?" Peter remarked with a gity smile feeling pretty good.
"Yeah, you did. Point is, no more dancing around the bush. We have really strong feelings for each other."
Peter nodded in agreement. "Yes we do, so what does it make us?"
"What happened to being a smarter guy?" She joked.
"Ah, so maybe, just maybe. Boyfriend and girlfriend? Or the other way around, I'm not partial to any order. Only that, it's true. Are we really going to do this, get together? Be in a real relationship?" Peter asked, looking hopefully.
Mary Jane looked at him. "Is that something you'd like Peter? I sure as hell would love to call you my boyfriend. Or anything else, as long as it's romantic."
"I would too. I'd love to be with you Mary Jane Watson. I'd be the luckiest man on the planet getting to be with you." The pair then kissed again holding each other closely, staying with each other for the rest of the night. Now the two felt closer than ever before, having their relationship finally progressing to be official.
Back in the church tower as night had fallen and the rain had begun to pour into the cold night of New York City, the black goo wasn't eliminated like Spider-Man had wished to believe, not at all.
A figure in the shadows began speaking to seemingly, themself. "Spider-Man, he tried to destroy us both. My job, my reputation, my health! Our family!" He seemed to grow larger and angier with each word said. "My family, our family! Our son! We have enemies to be destroyed, but we have one mutual enemy. Peter, Parker! Yes, we'll have righteous, Vengeance! On, Spider-Man! The dark figure with a wide, white spider lego declared at the very top of his lungs into the night leaping up into view with lighting striking behind it, as a disgusting looking tongue came out looking down upon the city before swinging into the chilling darkness.
And so ends Spider-Man's encounter with the blacksuit, well wearing it. Obviously this isn't the end with you can guess who is coming along to town. I wasn't sure if I'd even be able to get to this point, but it feels nice to be here at last. Hopefully his arrival will make people pleased.
Wouldn't dare to not mention, Peter and Mary Jane are officially together which feels ever better to finally have those crazy kids together. I wanted it to happen during this whole arc for maximum impact to finally see them as official after so much tease and build up for most of the series. Hopefully it didn't drag out and I apologize to anyone who wanted a more original pairing. It was the course I put for myself at the beginning of the series in 2017, which I do semi regret but I'm not going to swap out relationships at this point. It's them until the end. (Unless tragedy strikes of courseā¦) If I could go back I'd probably try something else, but alas here we are. I love them together in all media, so I'm not heartbroken but I understand if it's been played to death by now.
Also, having the battle between Spider and Green Goblin was nice for me. I was happy with doing that with the black suit being a factor, of course he's going to be planning major things to get back at our web swinging hero. I can promise there are some devious plots ahead.
Next up will probably be more of a breather, as things begin to ramp up again in no time with more trouble always ahead and more loose ends.
(Update 2024)
Okay, as always the above was written, well I can't actually remember just has been awhile since I wrote that. This was a pretty huge milestone for me to right back then as I wasn't even sure if I'd make it to the black suit and obviously Venom coming up soon. (I already wrote his appearances) Hope it all came off as good. Also thought maybe should reflect the bottom part of how things have changed since then, like I have come to accept Spider-Man 2 Ps5 kinda crapped the bed with the third act. (I think Web of Shadows is cured ): This will make even more sense later) And that dlc doesn't appear to be happening anytime soon, so that's cool, cool, cool, cool COOL. Also ASM really sucks right now even worse than it already was, somehow. Peter is an idiot, Miles FTW.
Anyways, I've danced around this for sometime but felt maybe now is the proper time to share that I've decided that chapter 83 (I think unless my math sucks) will be the sooner than intended finale of the series. So, we are actually in the final stretch of chapters for real now. I'll have more to say the closer I get to the end.
