April comments on the interns from 17x15.

Its strange being back at Grey Sloan - especially when she no longer works there, but its been nice to catch up with her former colleagues nonetheless. There's a tiny part of her that does miss it - miss the familiarity and being in such close proximity to them all, but there's another part of her that definitely doesn't.

When she finally gets a few minutes to herself after the ER closes due to a blood shortage, April sighs and finds herself lingering by one of the desks. She certainly hadn't expected to be (almost) working to day and throwing on her old scrubs, but she should've known that chaos seems to happen amongst those halls, and that something would happen whilst they were there. At least its never dull, she thinks.

"Where's Hattie?" She hears Jackson ask softly, as he comes up behind her and kisses her on the cheek. She hasn't had much of a chance to see him since this morning, as he's been busy with Jamarah Blake and trying to not fret over the impending update on his mother's cancer, but its nice that he's managed to sneak a few minutes with her, "Its good seeing you back in these scrubs, by the way. You look hot."

"Your mom kidnapped her. She's probably forcing our poor baby to eulogise her as we speak." April chuckles, leaning into his embrace for a moment.

He notices her line of sight, and that she's been busy people-watching, which is unusual for her. "What are you staring at?"

"Nothing..." She lies, feeling a little embarrassed about being caught out. She's so used to being busy and being on all the time, that it doesn't feel right to just be standing around feeling rather useless. "It's just, those interns kind of remind me of us at that age."

Jackson watches as a familiar brunette woman gently swats her dark-skinned co-worker (both of whom he'd noticed before leaving the hospital for good last year) and can't help but snort, "Yeah, I can see that."

She turns to look at him, eyes narrowing but finding it hard to fight the slight smirk that was threatening to appear on her face. "I should probably go tell Bailey that the ER is closed and figure out what she wants to do about it, before all hell breaks loose." A sigh escapes her lips after, as she wants nothing more than to just stay there with him for a few more minutes, but they both have jobs to do and a hospital to save.

"Yeah, I think Jamarah will be done with lunch soon, so I better get back to work too. Tell Hattie she can pick where we go for dinner tonight, that is, if my mom hasn't traumatised her too much."

April chuckles at that, "Okay. Love you." She pulls him in for a quick kiss on the mouth, wary of where they are and the fact that they're no longer carefree attendings hooking up in on-call rooms anymore, "Good luck!"

Once her ex-husband-turned-boyfriend (which still feels incredibly weird to explain to people) is out of sight, April takes once last glance at the rather adorable interns and smiles to herself, before setting off in search of Bailey.
