Hi everyone! It's so hard to believe we've already reached the end of the first part of the season. For me it'll be so hard not to watch it every week. What about you? What are your ways of coping with the hiatus? Tell me about it. Now, time for some reading. Enjoy.

Chapter 10

Around the same time when Thomas and Juliet were wondering whether their friends had noticed their absence, their rescue mission was slowly getting started. After the emergency call from Rick and TC concerning Magnum and Higgins being kidnapped, Gordon Katsumoto sat there by his desk at the precinct in quite a shock. At the beginning, when he met Magnum, he may have acted in a rather cold and condescending way toward the PI but when he got to know him better, he realized that despite not very favorable first impression, he turned out to be a really good man. Gordon soon learned that Thomas' specific methods of working, although not very legal, happened to be really useful sometimes.

Well, maybe not sometimes but very often, Gordon thought and a tiny grin appeared on his face which was quite a rare sight.

And then, after some time and after their ups and downs, he became friends with Magnum which was still something unexpected to Gordon to this day.

Now, after the worrying news, he was deeply concerned for both his friends. He didn't know much about their kidnapping, just the bits and pieces Rick and TC gave him but he vowed that he would do everything he could to help find Thomas and Juliet and bring them home in one piece. Therefore, he picked up his phone again and made a couple of phone calls. It was quite late and he had to ask for lots of favors but twenty minutes later he could say that he succeeded as thanks to him all the best officers in Hawaiian police were going to work on the PIs kidnapping.

"Geez, I must have been spending too much time with Magnum lately," he murmured, "I'm starting to act like him with those favors." He chuckled to himself, glad that he was the only one there due to the late hour otherwise someone would think that he's gone crazy. With that thought in mind, he stood up and finally left the precinct.

The drive to Robin's Nest seemed to drag off mercilessly. As a good detective, he realized that if Magnum and Higgins were taken the previous night, a lot of time had passed and in order not to waste any more of it and reach his destination much faster, he turned the siren on immediately and sped through the crowded streets. He wondered what he would find at the estate. He knew that the sooner he got there the faster he and the team would start working on it and analyzing the clues the kidnappers left behind.

When he reached Robin's Nest and glanced at his watch, he realized that he had probably set a new record in covering this route in such small amount of time. He stopped at the gate and pressed the button on the video intercom. He was instantly let in so he drove to the main building where Kumu's Vespa and TC's car were already parked on the driveway. He got out of the vehicle and walked up to the front door. He didn't even have a chance to knock on it as it opened all of a sudden and he was welcomed by TC who was wearing a seriously worried look on his face.

"Hi, Gordie. Good to see you, man." He said and let him inside.

At that moment, Rick approached them. "Hi, thanks for coming. We're glad you could make it so fast."

"Yeah, we really appreciate it." TC added.

"That's okay. Thomas and Juliet are my friends too, I'm here to help you find them. The CSU are on their way but before they get here, why don't you tell me something more about their kidnapping." Gordon stated, trying to focus on the events and clues rather than his emotions. He knew very well that by remaining calm and professional they stood a better chance of finding their friends. Of course, it was extremely hard to do so in this situation.

"Well, when we haven't seen Thomas or Juliet for the whole day, we got worried." Rick started saying and then TC joined in.

"Some clients couldn't contact them, then we tried to do that with no luck whatsoever and when it turned out that they weren't seen by anybody since yesterday's evening, we got the feeling something must have happened to them."

"Yeah, so we asked Kumu to check things out here at Robin's Nest." Rick said.

"Wait, you let Kumu come here on her own?" Gordon asked, his words filled with reproach. "You didn't know if it was safe. What if someone was here?"

"But there wasn't and I did it for Thomas and Juliet, they're Ohana. If I could, I would gladly do it again." Kumu spoke from behind as she had just entered the room and joined the men who were still standing near the door.

"Oh, hi, Kumu." Gordon said.

"Aloha." She replied and smiled at him.

"But he's right, Kumu." TC stated, wearing an apologetic look on his face. "We shouldn't ask you to do it."

"Because of us, something bad could have happened to you. We endangered you unnecessarily and we're really sorry for that." Rick added, looking as regretful as TC.

"No, guys, please don't be. See, I'm okay, nothing bad happened to me so let's forget about it and better focus on much more important thing such as getting Thomas and Juliet back safely." She told them and then she turned to Katsumoto. "Gordon, I hope you didn't come alone and you brought some police officers with you."

The detective chuckled at the way she said that. "Of course, Kumu. I made some phone calls, pulled some strings and in the end managed to call in the best people in HPD." He told her, proud of what he achieved.

"I'm glad to hear that." The woman replied. "I have a feeling we'll need every help possible."

For a brief moment, there was complete silence as all of them pondered whether Kumu's words would prove prophetic.

Then she spoke again, "Boys, have you told Gordon about the study?"

"Not yet." They both admitted.

"What about the study?" Katsumoto asked with interest.

"It's better you saw it yourself. Come on." She said and led the way to the room.

When they entered it, the first thing Gordon noticed was the shards of the broken vase. He went forward and crouched down next to it.

"Was the vase like that when you came here?" He asked, being in his full police mode.

"Yeah, no one touched anything." TC said.

"Good." Gordon replied and put on a pair of nitrile gloves.

After he examined the shards, he finally stood up and gave the room a thorough look-over.

"Is it the only thing that was broken here?" He asked glancing at his friends.

"Yes, only this vase." Kumu replied.

Katsumoto was still scanning the study when his eyes fell on the desk where he noticed the computer standing there. "You've already watched the security footage, am I right?" He stated, pointing to the device with his head and when they confirmed that, he continued, "Was there anything useful?"

"See for yourself." TC said, motioning there.

The detective moved to the desk, sat down and pressed 'play'. They waited until he stopped watching and while doing so, they noticed how seeing his friends being kidnapped affected him. By the time he turned off the recording, his face was firm and tense. When he spoke, it was evident he was trying to remain calm and impartial but his voice was telling something otherwise.

"It seems the whole thing was planned and the kidnappers came prepared." He murmured weakly.

"It's a pity there aren't any cameras inside the building." Rick spoke.

"Mr. Masters doesn't want to violate Juliet's or Thomas' privacy." Kumu informed them.

"If there were any, at least we would see how those men got to our friends and what really happened here." Rick continued.

"We know there was some fighting, probably on Juliet's side. She has lots of experience back from her MI6 days. We all saw how bad Thomas must have been feeling so I don't think he was much of a threat to the kidnappers." Kumu said.

"Kumu, you don't know TM like we do. The Thomas we know is capable of lots of things even if he isn't in a good shape." TC told her. "When we were held in that prison in Afghanistan, he was able to fight despite being badly hurt so I'm more than sure that this time our brother also tried to confront the attackers but unfortunately we know how it all ended."

"Yeah, they were both taken God-knows where." Rick sighed sadly.

"Do you have any idea as to who those kidnappers may be or what it is all about?" The detective asked, his tone of voice professional.

All three of them shook their heads.

"No." Rick replied.

"No, not really." Kumu murmured.

"Although we were wondering whether money is the thing those men want." TC stated and he instantly recalled a very similar conversation when Magnum was grabbed by some guys and taken to the Roselita to extract the gold hidden there.

"Did you get any ransom call?" Gordon asked.

"No." They shook their heads.

"Considering twenty-four hours have already passed since Thomas and Juliet's kidnapping, you're not likely to get any. If money was those men's aim, they would have probably contacted you right away." The detective told them.

"What if they called Mr. Masters? He's quite rich, it's a widely known fact. If his friends were in danger, he wouldn't hesitate to help them. I'm sure of it." Kumu stated.

Rick spoke up immediately. "No, I think that if he got such a call, the first thing would be to contact us to find out what was happening."

"Yeah," TC agreed, "so we can now say that we should rule out money as the motive here. Isn't it right, Gordie?" He met his friend's eyes.

"Yes. Perhaps it's connected to one of Thomas and Juliet's cases. Did they step on someone's foot, someone powerful?" He tried but didn't get the answer he anticipated.

"We know nothing about that. All I know is they've just finished a case involving a cheating husband. That's all." Rick said, annoyed that he couldn't really help in this matter.

Suddenly, Kumu remembered something. "I've just recalled that Juliet stores all their case files on her computer. Maybe there's something that will help us find out what's going on here."

"Thanks, Kumu. Can you send me a copy of those files to my mail box along with the security footage?"

"Of course, Gordon. I'll do it right away." Kumu replied.

"What about us? We want to help too." TC said.

"Yeah, we can drive around and see if we can find that dark van." Rick offered at once.

"Rick's right, I can fly the chopper. We will stand a better chance of finding that car looking from above." TC added.

"Guys, slow down a bit. It's no use driving or flying around the area when you don't know which direction they took." He said and noticed the looks on their faces. He sighed deeply. "Look, you have to understand those men are a day ahead of us. We have no idea what they planned and where they went. To tell the truth, they may be anywhere, even on the mainland or anywhere else. So first, we – and I mean the HPD, will have to scan all the traffic cam footage and see if there's that van anywhere and also run a check on it but from my experience those plates are probably fake or the car was stolen. I'll inform you if anything comes up."

"But…" Rick started but was instantly interrupted by Gordon.

"Please, you have to trust me on this and let the police do their work. I told you I'll have the best people on this." He assured them.

TC opened his mouth and wanted to say something but at that moment Katsumoto's phone rang and he answered it after quickly checking the caller ID.

"Hello? Yes, I'm already at the place. I watched the security footage and have some files to look at. You can drive inside. I'll let you in." With that he hung up the phone.

"The CSU are finally here. Kumu, would you open the gate to let them in?"

"No problem."

"Thanks. I'll talk to them and have them swept the area. Maybe they'll find something useful. Hopefully, the kidnappers were careless and left some evidence behind." He said and turned to leave.

"Gordie." TC said.

"Go home and have some rest. Don't worry, we'll find them." Gordon said wearing a determined expression on his face. Then he left the room, leaving Rick, TC and Kumu lost in their thoughts.
