Chapter 134 Clash
"How many people were brought back?" Thanos asked Sean in hologram form.
"We have an exact estimate on how many people were brought back. At a least a couple hundred on both sides. Even Faust isn't stupid enough to bring back billions." Sean said.
"Just a couple hundred? Why not bring back thousands to bring up Regime numbers?" Thanos asked.
"It works both ways. If he wanted to bring back thousands he would have to do both sides good and evil. The Majority of people brought back on our side were mostly civilians. Vilgax wanted the Resurrection spell to go in his favor not both." Sean said.
"I see. Keep me posted. I'll see if I can located their main base." Thanos said ending his transmission.
"I thought for sure he would be pissed off." Talbot said.
"The number wasn't to high. A couple hundred brought back is no big deal for him. Besides he knows I have plans to reduce the population of the universe without using the stones." Sean said.
Meanwhile
Batman was fighting against the Parasite alone. His backup Elongated man and Metamorpho were down and had their powers absorbed by the Parasite.
"Talbot, we're in trouble." Batman said on the comms.
"Your asking for help?" Talbot asked.
"Yes." Batman said avoiding the Parasite from touching him.
"Since when do you ever ask for help?" Talbot asked.
"Just get us some reinforcements." Batman said.
Not to far away a plane had lost its wing due to an explosion.
On the plane a little girl looked out and smiled seeing Superman who blew out the fire on the right side where the Wing came off.
"Clark, we got a problem here." Talbot said on the comms.
"I'm a little busy right now. Can it wait?" Superman asked grabbing the plane to set it down somewhere.
"Not this time. Parasite is back." Talbot said.
"Give me a minute and I'll be right..." Superman tried to say before a blur of blue, Red and yellow passed him. "Huh?" Superman said before he sat the plane down and went to help the others.
However apparently someone beat him to his job.
The Parasite was tied by a street light.
The person who tied him up was a woman in a Blue, red and gold suit with long blond hair white skin and brown eyes.
"That was easy and kinda disappointing." The woman said before floating down to the others.
"Who are you?" Batman asked before Superman landed next to them.
"Wait a minute. I recognize that armor. It's Kree." Superman said making her nod.
"Yup. Of course some changes from the regular version."
"Who are you? I don't recall seeing you before." Superman asked.
"Her name is Carol Danvers. She's also known as Captain Marvel." Lane said on the comms.
"How do you know her?" Batman asked.
"Drop by the watch Tower and we'll explain in full details." Lane said.
Later
"So let me get this straight. The Kree launched an assault on Earth over 31 years ago and she's the one who stopped it?" Superman asked.
"Her power comes from a unique power source that was created from the Cosmic Cube when it was dug by another Kree who was trying to help the Skrulls escape the Kree empire." Tom said.
"I didn't know we were at war with the Kree back then." Superman said.
"We weren't. Earth was considered a primitive world compared to the rest of the galaxy back then. But when the Legion was first formed one of our first missions was to eradicate the Supreme Intelligence. Once that was done we brought a better purpose to the Kree." Lane said.
"So where has she been all this time?" Superman asked.
"It's a big universe out there you know. I only came back once Tom activated a beacon for me." Carol said as Tom pulled out an upgraded Pager.
"I decided we need to bring in our big guns since Vilgax's numbers just went up again." Tom said.
"Are there any others like her out there?" Superman asked.
"No. She's one of a kind." Ross said.
"Wait you said she's been gone for 31 years so why does she still look so young?" Superman asked making her smirk.
"A little beneficial side effect of being exposed to the engine's core when it blew up." Carol said.
"Now then. Since Carol is back on Earth she'll be joining the Legion. Try to keep some of the fresh grunts off her last thing we need is her to send the troops to the med bay." Lane said making her snort.
"Oh come on. That asshole got what he deserved." Carol said making Tom and his team laugh.
2 days later
"Well, the famed Captain Marvel." Sean said walking to her as she looked at the Earth.
"Oh so your Tom's son. David right?" Carol asked making him snort.
"Uh no thats my older brother. I'm Sean. I lead the Legion." Sean said.
"Oh so your the one everyone talks about." Carol said.
"And just what do they say about me?" Sean asked having a good guess.
"From civilians all good things. From more questionable people though...They hate your guts for either making the law very strict or preventing them from making more money." Carol said making him chuckle.
"Yeah well those guys are selfish idiots." Sean said before Superman walked to them looking serious. "What is it?" Sean asked.
"We need to talk." Superman said leading them to the conference room with some of the original members from the first three groups.
"Is there a problem?" Carol asked.
"Have you read the papers?" Superman asked.
"Not really. I just got her a couple days ago." Carol said before Superman showed her the front page of her endorsing Luthor making her raise an eyebrow. "So? He's a member of the Legion." Carol said.
"Clark." Sean said in warning.
"Carol. Lex is only a member by circumstance. He's a super villain." Superman said.
"If that were true he wouldn't be in the race for presidency now would he?" Carol asked.
"Well, he used to be. Clark and the original members of the Justice League were under fire from a group of Parallel Universe doublegangers known as the Justice Lords. They came here about 3 years ago to enforce their will on the universe and since everyone else was busy including us they had to ask Luthor for help. In exchange he was granted a full pardon." Sean said.
"Oh. Well, from the looks of things he's cleaned up his act since he hasn't committed any crimes." Carol said.
"We know he has. He's funding..." Superman tried to say.
"Enough." Sean said. "We're not just gonna go pointing fingers without solid evidence. And if I recall your not in charge here. Do I need to remind you of what happened the last time you did something like this?" Sean asked making him frown.
"Meaning what?" Carol asked.
"Clark and Bruce attacked me almost 8 years ago demanding I hand over Carter Slade becuase back then they weren't ok with killing anyone. Then when I started the Defenders Initiative he attacked me and my sisters and Sam's daughter when we were driving and he demanded I stop the Defenders. The result? Carter took away his powers for months." Sean said making her narrow her eyes on him.
"I made a mistake back then." Superman said.
"And clearly making a new one. My advice. You want to prove Luthor is guilty? Find some real evidence." Carol said as they left.
Later
Superman and Batman were fighting a new group of Villains.
"You were a little hard on Captain Marvel don't you thin?" Batman said punching one of the Villains in the face knocking him out.
Superman against the Largest punched him into a wall before it fell on him burying him.
"Why are you why is everyone defending her?" Superman asked.
"Everyone likes her. She was one of the first super heroes to exist Long before the others came out. Not only that but she's helped a lot of people across the universe." Batman said having read her file.
"So she can fly and use super strength I have both of those and heat and X ray vision." Superman said.
"Sounds to me you might actually be a little jealous." Batman said.
"I am not..." Superman tried to say.
"Superman?"
"Hamilton?" Superman asked on the comms.
"Yes, J'onn was kind enough to path me through." Hamilton said.
"What is it, professor?" Superman asked.
"There's something here I think you should see." Hamilton said.
Soon both were at Metropolis Star Labs.
"If it's just a simple robbery, why call us?" Superman asked as Hamilton led them to somewhere.
"It was anything, but simple. They ignored Valuables, Priceless gems high technology artifacts. In fact, the only thing they took was the contents of this safe. Nearly four pounds of weapons-grade Kryptonite." Hamilton said making Superman narrow his eyes while Batman pulled out a device to check the safe.
"So?" Superman asked.
"The lock was nano-picked. LexCorp Technology." Batman said.
"Then Luthor..."
"Which anyone could have gotten their hands on. Or, for that matter, planted here to incriminate Luthor. Remember what happened at the New Sea world when everyone didn't have their powers?" Batman asked.
"Yeah I remember. One of the Managers moved the Baby Great white on display to make it look like it was Luthor's idea to make money and got the baby killed which ticked off the mother." Superman said remembering that incident
"Same principle could be used here. Besides this is sloppy for Lex. And another thing why steal Kryptonite when he's running for president? It would cost him his campaign." Batman said making him frown seeing his point.
"Ok so now what?" Superman asked.
"For now we do nothing. I'll ask Ray to see if he can find something I missed. In meantime I suggest you go to the Charity event Luthor is holding for this new city he just recently built in Metropolis." Batman said leaving while Superman frowned.
Later
A large amount of the Legion's Elite heroes were at the charity event with some of the resurrected people like Tommy Merlin, Eddie Thawne, Ronnie and Tom's old squad mates along with Dillion and Anna.
"Hey kid." Blain said to Sean.
"Yes?" Sean asked.
"Whats this I hear about you shutting down all the Tobacco companies?" Blain asked making him chuckle.
"I knew Lane would bring that shit up. I shut those shit companies down cause they caused more problems than they were worthy. Causing cancer and all that shit." Sean said.
"Oh my god. Your a little pussy boy." Blain said making him freeze.
"WHAT!" Sean yelled.
"I knew it! Tom your son is a pussy boy! Tobacco makes you a goddamn sexual Tyrannosaurus! Just like me." Blain said proudly.
"Blain." Tom said.
"Yeah strap this on your sore ass Blain!" Sean said having his armor appeared before his right arm turned into a cannon making him burst out laughing.
"I take it back son." Blain said wrapping his arm around him.
"Whatever." Sean said.
"I still cannot believe your son is in charge of the whole damn universe." Dillion said.
"Surprises all around. You should see your daughter Amanda. A lot of people in the Government are scared of her and for good reason." Tom said,
"Oh yeah? Where is she?" Dillion asked.
"Lets just say she's um...taking security measures regarding certain members of the Legion." Tom said trying to find the right word.
Superman in the crowd frowned as he kept an eye up for anything out of the ordinary.
"Will you knock it off." Sean said to him as he approached him.
"Just keeping an eye out for anything that shouldn't be here." Superman said.
"Uh huh sure. Clark, you're acting the same way from when only the Justice League existed and before you accepted my methods." Sean said.
"I accept your methods now cause I see they get permanent and needed results. Luthor on the other hand..." Superman tried to say.
"True or false. Did you or did you not give him that full pardon to begin with when the Justice Lords came here?" Sean asked.
"Yes but..." Superman tried to say.
"Than stow it. Whatever happens, happens. We'll deal with it. But he's not gonna do something stupid right now." Sean said.
"I'm surprised your even suspecting him after these last three years." Superman said.
"Just because he's slowly started earning my trust does not mean I kept my eyes off him. When it comes to people like him I'm always on alert when I need to be. I suggest you do the same." Sean said leaving to talk with Carol.
As Sean left his Super Hearing picked something up from Luthor and his new assistent.
"Is the device in place?" Luthor asked.
"Yes. It will go off in 5 minutes."
"Good lets go then." Luthor said making Superman widen his eyes before he started using his X-Ray vision before he spotted a device under the playground.
"Clear the area now!" Superman yelled getting everyone to go into a panic and leave before he started trashing the playground.
"Wait! You don't understand." Lex said trying to stop him but Superman just pushed him back.
"Out of my way Lex. I don't know whats down there but..." Superman tried to say before Sean blasted him back.
"What do you think you're doing!" Sean yelled with Captain Marvel next to him.
"Oh thank goodness. He just won't listen." Lex said.
"You two don't have X-Ray vision but I do. Theres some sort of device down there and I'm shutting it down!" Superman said.
"No! If you touch it, it could go off." Lex said in alarm.
"Go off?" Captain Marvel asked in confusion.
"So you admit you put a bomb under this city." Superman accused.
"Clark so help me god." Sean said in annoyance.
"Not a bomb. An experimental fusion engine. It will supply nearly free energy to everyone who lives here." Lex said.
"See?" Captain Marvel said as she glared at Superman.
"Then why the lead shielding?" Superman asked.
"For your protection. The Engine is powered by Kryptonite Molecules." Lex said.
"Ok thats enough." Sean said.
"And you didn't tell me this why?" Superman asked.
"Maybe because I was afraid you wouldn't believe me." Lex said.
"Let me have a look at the device. My visor can determine if this device is what he says it is." Sean said.
"At least someone around here is keeping a cool head." Lex said.
"Forget it!" Superman said about to punch a hole in the ground when Captain Marvel stopped him.
"Listen fly boy. You can't just go..." Captain Marvel said before he punched her away a few feet making her narrow her eyes. "Ok...Now I'm mad." Captain Marvel said.
"I have more strength then you. You can't beat me at my own game." Superman said making her smirk.
"Now...Who said I only had flight and super strength?" Captain Marvel said before she was engulfed in energy making him widen his eyes before she dashed at him and blasted him into the sky.
"Aren't you going to stop them?" Lex asked.
"Oh no. I know better then to interfere when a woman is royally pissed off." Sean said chuckling as Captain Marvel started beating the crap out of Superman.
Superman growled before trying to use his heat vision on her but she blasted him in the eyes making him scream in pain as he couldn't see.
"Did that hurt?" Captain Marvel asked before kneeing him in the gut making him grunt in pain and then started twirling him around before throwing him on the ground hard.
"Ok thats enough." Sean said as he grabbed him by the head before Clark was engulfed in white flames before they faded.
As Captain Marvel landed Superman tried to hit her but it didn't even move her.
"What?..NO Not again!" Superman said realizing what just happened.
"Your powers are gone again. You fucking dumbass." Sean said before the device went off. And like Lex said the whole city was powered up. "Lets go." Sean said dragging him through a portal with Captain Marvel following.
Later
"DO YOU HAVE ANY NOTION OF THE CONSEQUENCES OF YOUR ACTIONS!" Sean yelled in Superman's face.
"Look I made a mistake." Superman said.
"JUST LIKE THE LAST FUCKING TIME YOU DID WHEN YOUR ISSUE WAS WITH ME AND THE RIDERS! Your on leave for a month. Last thing I need is for you to go screwing up the Legions image by being a paranoid moron. You'll get your powers when your leave is up. Now get out!" Sean yelled making him sigh before leaving. "Unbelievable. I thought he got that shit out of his system nearly 8 years ago." Sean said.
"They set him up." Batman said.
"I know." Sean said annoyed.
"They?" Captain Marvel asked.
Meanwhile
"The plan worked better than I'd imagined. I thought Superman would try to destroy the Energy source. But the fact that this Captain Marvel stepped in and took him down while Sean took his powers away was a sight to behold. And it looks like the Legion still doesn't suspect me." Lex said handing a glass of Champaign to Amanda who smirked.
"Don't get your hopes up just yet. I'm sure Sean might still have some suspicions." Amanda said.
"Maybe. But my main focus is on Superman right now." Lex said grinning.
Authors Note: And there we have it. I was just gonna have Sean fight Superman but then I thought with all that power nah its not fair. The cool Captain Marvel beating the crap out of him was a better idea. Besides if she can go head to head with Thanos she can easily take Superman down. Now Next Chapter involved a blast from the past of Hawkgirl's actions.
