Chapter 158 To another Shore
It's been about a couple weeks since the battle at the center of the Earth and since Hannibal Roy Bean was captured and incapacitated due to the interference of Grodd.
Since then the Legion has been on high alert as more and more criminals who originally weren't part of Vilgax's Regime were being added to the new one Under Grodd's command.
Currently the Military council was in a meeting on the Watch Tower.
"This is getting out of hand. First we nearly destroyed the Regime a second time now they're building up their numbers at a faster rater then before." Lane said.
"Oh please don't exaggerate. They're mostly just going after small time criminals. Only reason they took Lena was because she's smart and could help them advance their technology and enhanced members same with Drake. Kim was a former member of the original Regime hence why he's in their group once more. And Balalaika was an excellent leader back in her younger years. It's no question why they took her." Sean said.
"And Reznov is pretty pissed off about that." Talbot said.
"We need to find their base and launch a final blow to them that they won't be able to recover from for years maybe even decades." Ross said.
"Locating them is more difficult this time. Granted they can no longer travel to other universes thanks to the barrier The Didact has finally finished but it is a big universe out there and still plenty of unexplored sectors in the universe." Sean said.
"Fair on that." Lane said.
"On another subject regarding the ship we found in the ice where the Global warming conference is being held. " Sean said.
"We have some guys looking into it. Global warming is a thing of the past since all the repairs we made since the Legion took charge." Shepherd said.
"Ok I think thats enough for the day. We'll continue this later." Sean said as they left.
Walking out Sean spotted Diana dressed business clothes making him laugh.
"If I still owned Global tech you would have been one hell of a secretary." Sean said laughing making her roll her eyes in amusement.
"Funny. Could you do me a favor?" Diana asked.
"What is it?" Sean asked.
"It's about J'onn. He's been up here more and more lately. He's becoming a hermit." Diana said.
"And you tried to talk him into going to conference didn't you? I can easily tell. J'onn...Has issues connecting with people. I was the same back then before I started high school." Sean said.
"Oh?" Diana asked.
"I told you before I got kicked out of every Elementary school. Couldn't really connect to kids my age. I had a better time connecting to those who were older like Russo and Frank." Sean said.
"Sounds like an interesting story." Diana said.
"I'll tell you about it some time. I'll talk to J'onn but I don't think it will be effective." Sean said as she left.
Meanwhile
"I've managed to increase strength of several members of the Regime including Bane, Sektor and our newest recruit Devil Ray." Lena said to Grodd as said person stepped forward.
"Ready for action." Devil Ray said.
"Excellent Lena. Your skills are coming in handy. Drake have you found a way to recreate the Symbiotes?" Grodd asked.
"So far no. Recreating them is gonna take time and money. And since we're on the run that last part is gonna be tricky." Drake said.
"Maybe not. As it so happens we may have found an advantage against the Legion." Grodd said.
"And that would be?" Kim asked.
"First, let me tell you a story. Early in the tenth century lived Prince John the Greatest warrior of his Era. His Tremendous skill and valor brought him fame throughout the world as the legendary viking prince." Grodd said.
"I think I know this legend." Lena said.
"His adventures were epic, as were the legends that grew around his exploits. This much we know to be truth. However Prince John fell in love with a sorcerer's daughter. Enraged with the Affair he casted John out. But he begged to be with his beloved. He would allow John to be with his daughter if he died an honorable death and be resurrected to be with one another for eternity." (I can't use Odin since he would never do this to someone in Marvel)
"I'm sensing a but coming along." Kim said.
"Indeed. This sorcerer was crafty and cruel. Before he departed he casted John with Invulnerability to harm. No earthly based weapons could harm him. As Hard as John tried he could never die an honorable death no matter how many battles he fought and won. His humanity was drained from him due to this and grew tired of the endless fighting and sailed away...Never to be seen again...Until now." Grodd said.
"That viking ship that was found in the ice. You think it's him?" Lena asked.
"I know it's him." Grodd said showing the image of the ship and the flag. "That flag is the standard of King Rick, his father." Grodd said.
"What does this have to do with us?" Drake asked.
"I want you to steal his corpse." Grodd said.
"You want us to reverse engineer his invulnerability. So we all can use it." Lena said.
"With it we would have an advantage over the Legion since they took Juggernaut. And It would help my master Plan." Grodd said.
"Which you haven't shared with us." Icicle Junior said. (Young Justice)
"Patience, my friends. The best prizes are worth the wait." Grodd said leaving.
Meanwhile
Sean sat in the old Barn hangout wanting to relax a little.
Suddenly Dom and Vince walked in.
"Figured we'd find you here." Dom said.
"I got a lot of good memories of this place. Before the incident. I should have just killed Kim and been done with it. But I felt him suffering for eternity was a more...Fitting punishment." Sean said.
"No shit." Vince said going in the old fridge before pulling out a beer. "This old or new?" Vince asked.
"Old." Sean said.
"Good." Vince said taking the cap off.
"Figures. You know Diana wants to hear the story of my high school years." Sean said making them chuckle.
"I'll bet. You gonna tell her?" Dom asked.
"Eventually. There were a lot of good memories in those years. And some bad ones because of Kim, Ludlow and...Brandon." Sean said.
"I still can't believe you didn't just kill him when you had the chance." Vince said.
"Brandon is a lot of things. Evil? Not one of them. He's just angry." Sean said.
Meanwhile
Diana walked out of the meeting room with a Sigh before she spotted Dillon leaning over the Railing.
"Dillion? What are you doing here?" Diana asked before he blew a bubble with gum.
"Not smoking. I kicked the habit after coming back to life." Dillion said.
"That and Sean shut down every Tobacco Company years ago." Diana said.
"True. Smart move honestly since the world is better off without it." Dillion said. (So fucking true)
"So why are you here?" Diana asked.
"Special security team for the Vice President Bidan." Dillion said. (He so better win and throw Trump in Jail Or I'm gonna be super pissed!)
"I'm not much a diplomat. I prefer letting my fists do the talking." Diana said making him chuckle.
"Tom and his dad felt the same way for years. Always prefer action over words." Dilion said heading back inside. Diana sighed before looking at the mountain before the whole place shook making her look down and saw several members of the Regime melting the ice making her frown before spinning till she appeared in her gear before flying down.
Down below was Icicle Junior, Shockblast, XL Terrestrial (Teen titans), Ventress who survived her battle on Olympus and now had Cybernetic arms and Devil Ray.
Shockblast was blasting the ice to free the Viking ship.
"STOP! If you pull that ship half the mountain will come down!" A worker yelled.
"So what?" Ventress asked.
"So I'm not gonna let you do it." Diana said appeared before punching XL making him fall down before attacking Icicle Junior.
"CHEATER!" Junior yelled before she punched him away.
"How do you cheat in a fight?" Diana asked before screaming as a stinger hit her in the shoulder.
"Like that. Normally I like to see you heroes suffer...But considering your Kruger's wife...I'm gonna make this even worse." Devil ray said about to finish her off when laser fire nearly hit them making him look up seeing Dillion and his men with Jet Packs.
"Pour it on them!" Dillion yelled as he landed next to Diana. "You ok?" Dillion asked.
"My arm's numb. Stomach's not that great either." Diana said making him look seeing the stinger.
"This is gonna hurt like hell." Dillion said pulling it out making her grunt in pain.
"I'm gonna call in some backup." Diana said.
Meanwhile
"I'm just saying J'onn." Sean said before the alert came up. "Diana? What is it?" Sean asked.
"The Regime is here at the conference." Diana said.
"We picked that up but knew you were there and figured you could handle it." J'onn said.
"I can't. I got hit with some poison. I need help." Diana said.
"We're still short handed searching for the Regime base. Best I can spare are Six-Shot, Captain Cold and Sean." J'onn said.
"Send who you want but I need you." Diana said.
Meanwhile
Dillion continued to fire before running out of ammo.
"Nearly unlimited bullets my ass." Dillion said as Shockblast went to grab them before getting shot.
"OW!" Shockblast yelled.
"Whats the matter brother?" Six-Shot said making his presence known.
"Six-Shot? You traitor!" Shockblast yelled enraged.
"Hardly. I told you I wanted nothing to do with the Regime after coming back to life. And I brought help." Six-Shot said before J'onn flew in and punched XL in the face making him fall down before Sean blasted Ventress who dodged.
"Your still alive? Rawlings is bad enough but you? Your even more useless." Sean said making her roar before jumping at him before he dodged with ease. "I'll never understanding why Vilgax offered you a place in his Regime." Sean said before blasting Shockblast and landed by Diana.
"They have every chance to escape but they don't. Why? What makes that vessel so important?" J'onn asked.
"If I can get my lasso around one of them maybe we can find out." Diana said.
"Your lucky to still be standing. Don't be stupid." Sean said.
"I will handle this." J'onn said entering XL's mind getting some brief images before yelling in pain as they both collapsed.
"What happened?" Sean asked.
"Didn't get it all but we can't let them get that ship. It contains." J'onn tried to say before a sub came out of the water before firing Cables at the chunk of ice and pulled it out making the mountain shake.
"Oh boy this ain't good." Snart said seeing an avalanche coming down.
"J'onn, get icicle Junior and make him freeze that avalanche. Snart get on that ship and detach the cables." Sean said.
"With pleasure." Snart said rushing off.
"Your mine!" Ventres yelled trying to slash him but he dodged with ease before blasting her just as Six-Shot was thrown next to him.
"TRAITOR!" Shockblast roared.
"Brother issues?" Sean asked.
"Real funny. I told you he was a nut job." Six-Shot said before Shockblast tried to blast them.
"So I see." Sean said.
Diana dived down to start beating the ice apart before Devil ray was behind her.
"This is too good." Devil ray said about to kill her when a hand tapped him from behind. "WHAT!"
Sean punched him upwards into the sky before dashing at the ice about to blast it when the cables came off.
"Mission accomplished." Snart said on the comms before Zilla appeared and grabbed the Sub before heading topside where Devil Ray was laying on his back in the water before suddenly vanishing.
"Hmm?" Sean said.
Icicle laughed as he saw the Avalanche coming down at the conference before J'onn grabbed him.
"HEY! LET GO YOU FREAK!" Icicile yelled.
"Use your powers or you die with the people." J'onn said.
"I can't do that! I'm not strong enough to stop an avalanche!" Icicle yelled.
"Lets find out then." J'onn said making him growl before blasting the avalanche.
Sean rushed at Ventress before blasting her down making her scream in pain as Sean continued to hit her before stopping seeing her out cold.
"This time I'm gonna finish what I started." Sean said pulling a knife out but she suddenly vanished. "WHAT!" Sean yelled in annoyance before Shockblast also vanished.
Icicil was on the ground after he stopped the Avalanche before he also vanished.
The only one still there was XL.
Later
"What the hell was all this about?" Dillion asked.
"Inside that ship is the viking prince John. Gifted with invulnerability. Probably wanted to reverse engineer it for themselves." Sean said.
"Thats as much as we could get before XL's mind shut down." J'onn said.
"Same thing happened to Bean when we questioned him about who the new leader was at the Earth's core. Something is up." Sean said.
"The Regime is on its last legs. Probably taking precautions to not take any more blows." Snart said.
"Most likely. But you'll have to find out without me." J'onn said making Diana look at him. "I've been thinking about what you said and the story of Prince John. I'm a Martin with or without the Serum I'll live longer then he ever did. But unless I connect to Humanity I'll live out that time totally alone." J'onn said.
"Meanwhile something definitely isn't right. The Regime is definitely up to something." Six-Shot said.
"And we'll find out in time. In the meantime I want this ship burned into the sun. I think the dead prince deserves to be laid rest for good so no one can ever misuse his power." Sean said.
"I'll get right on it." Diana said.
Later
Sean sighed as he sat in the barn again before looking at the photo of his group making him smile before Diana walked in.
"You've been hanging out here more and more lately." Diana said.
"I hadn't had the time to comeback here lately. This place...It has a lot of good memories. Before the day Kim showed us his true colors." Sean said.
"You owe me a story by the way. Regarding your high school years." Diana said making him chuckle.
"Yeah I guess I do. Heh! Well, another story couldn't hurt." Sean said.
