Chapter 159 Dead Reckoning
Its been a month since the incident with the remnants of the Regime at the global warming conference which resulted in XS getting captured after his mind shut down.
Now the Legion was certain Grodd was in charge since every time they tried to get information on the new Regime this always happened.
Right now though.
Sean was in his old barn with a drink in hand relaxing.
"Figured I'd find you here." Letty said walking in.
"I like the peace and quiet compared to when Roman had us turn this place into a hangout for the school back in the day." Sean said making her smirk as Dom and the others walked in.
"God I missed this place." Tej said getting a drink.
"I know the feeling." Sean said.
"So whats the deal with you and Lena Luthor?" Roman asked making him scoff.
"It's nothing. Just difference in views." Sean said.
"Thats not how some see it. Susan said she yelled at you saying you owed her during that bull-shark incident. Did something happen between you two?" Ramsey asked.
"I don't wanna talk about it." Sean said annoyed.
"Come on. Theres gotta be something. Or was it because Lex was her brother?" Brain asked.
"Lex had nothing to do with her issues towards me. The issues were because of us and us alone." Sean said.
"What does that..." Mia tried to say before gasping. "No way." Mia said.
"What?" Hobbs asked.
"You and Lena were a couple back then." Mia said shocking him.
"WHAT! Uh...WHERE'D YOU GET THAT IDEA!" Sean asked.
"HA! Sarah and Dawn said there was another girl before Mai but had no idea who she was." Mia said making him growl.
"Fucking christ. I'm gonna kill them." Sean said.
"You have got to be kidding me." Tej said.
"You and a Luthor were an item?" Dallas asked amused.
"Shut the fuck up." Sean said downing his drink.
"So you and Lena back then. I'm surprised Lex didn't try to hurt you for breaking up with her." Letty said.
"Oh he tried. Anyway it's a bit more complicated than you give credit for. We both had different ideals on people and...WHY AM I EVEN TELLING YOU THIS!" Sean yelled making them laugh. "This happened over 10 years ago and we've moved past it." Sean said.
"Apparently she hasn't." Han said.
"What the fuck are you...Of course she has. Anyway it's none of your business." Sean said leaving.
"See ya later Mister Heart breaker." Mia teased making him sigh as he slammed the door making them laugh.
Later
Up at some monastery stood a guard before a red portal opened up as Lena along with Drake, Devil Ray, Rampage, Ventress and Joker.
"What a nice place out in a cold hell. I look forward to burning it to the ground." Joker said laughing.
"Focus." Lena said as a Guard approached but she shot him in the head killing him.
Up above.
Sean was talking with Superman and Batman when Diana walked in.
"So...You and Lena were an item?" Diana asked amused making his eyes twitch.
"Letty." Sean said annoyed.
"Wait a second. You and a Luthor?" Superman asked amused.
"Do not fucking start." Sean said.
"Why?" Batman asked equally amused.
"Look it was a long time ago and..." Sean tried to say before an alert came up.
"What is it?" Superman asked.
"It's Nanda Parbat. Lena and the Regime are there." Sean said.
"What do they want there?" Diana asked.
"We're not gonna find out up here." Sean said as his armor appeared.
"Get as many members as we can." Batman said. (By the way since' it's been years since I've updated this remember he has his Batman Beyond suit)
On the ground the monks fought off agains the Regime before a portal opened up as Sean, Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Captain America, Raiden, Kung Lao, Optimus and Galvatron appeared.
"Hold them back!" Optimus yelled before more Red Portals opened up as Shock Blast came through.
"Your mine Prime!" ShockBlast yelled attacking.
Sean fought against Rampage before kneeing her in the gut making her groan before smirking at him.
"Why don't you take off that mask and give me a kiss big man?" Rampage said before Wonder Woman punched her away.
"I think he's got enough crazy girls in his life." Wonder Woman said making him scoff.
"Oh for god's sakes I am not weak in the knees for women." Sean said before getting shot by Lena.
"You once used to be for me." Lena said making him block every shot.
"I was so not." Sean said as several of her troops aimed at him but he pulled out his blades and slashed at them.
Wonder Woman blocked all of Lena's shots easily.
"I don't know whats so special about you but you're not better than me." Lena said.
"I never said I was." Diana said before seeing the monks all fall over making her rush to one and gasped seeing they were all dead.
"And another group of people he failed to save." Lena said as she and the Regime left.
Sean roared as he smashed through the temple to clear debris out of the way.
"Easy." Batman said as they approached some statue seeing something was missing.
"The heart is missing." Sean said as the others came in.
"What is it?" Steve asked.
"It contains the souls of all those who reside here." Batman said.
Later
"Ok we've seen a lot of minor villains since the Regime fell on Olympus months ago. Clearly it proves they're trying to get back a fraction of what they lost." Sean said seeing various villains on the screens that alone barely were a concern to the Legion.
"They did lose the majority of their army. Only most of their best are still active. With the rest either dead or captured." Batman said.
"Skull you were with the Regime for years. Can you think of anything?" Wonder Woman asked Atomic skull.
"Not really. But Rouge might know something. She and Grodd were together on assignments a lot." Atomic Skull said.
"She'll be more willing to talk to me." Sean said leaving.
Madam Rouge was in her cell before smiling.
"I was wondering when you would drop by darling." Rouge said seeing Sean smirking.
"Been busy. Anyway I need some information from you. Grodd attacked Nanda Parbat and stole the heart. Atomic Skull says you two were on assignments during your days with the Regime. What is he up to?" Sean asked making her smile.
"Well, I would be more than willing to tell you some things he told me...For something in return though." Rouge said making him scoff in amusement.
"I can't just let you out. Out of everyone here you're one of the more dangerous ones." Sean said.
"True...But you could easily cut a deal." Rouge said making him think.
"The only way I can let you out is if you agree to one thing besides giving me information." Sean said.
"And that is?" Rouge said.
"You have to have your powers taken away." Sean said making her frown.
"Thats not fair. I had some rather...Kinky ideas for them when you let me out." Rouge said making him grin.
"Sorry, darling. Thats the deal. The council won't just let you out with them for obvious concerns you'll go back to that life. Though I doubt it. The others we did let go like Skull and Six-Shot were less of a threat than you are." Sean said making her pout before sighing.
"Very well. I suppose it's better than staying in a cell for another few months." Rouge said.
"All right. I just got to sign the paperwork. So tell me what he's up to." Sean said.
"He brought that place up on multiple occasions. Says he believed with proper modification he could use it as a power source and the right tech to turn everyone on Earth into Apes. Vilgax however dismissed his ideals since they only benefited him and not the Regime. Personally I think thats all Grodd's been trying to do since he took over." Rouge said.
"Thats it? Turning the whole planet to apes. Are you fucking kidding me?" Sean asked in disbelief.
"Sadly no. He may be a genius even for his kind but he's rather...Pathetic if you ask me." Rouge said.
Later
"He wants to turn the whole planet into apes?" Batman asked.
"I can't say I'm surprised." Sean said before an alert came up from Gorilla city. "Solovar." Sean said.
"Kruger. The Regime is here attacking Gorilla City." Solovar said blasting them back.
"It figures. We end this now we can end the Regime for good. Mobilize everyone we can." Sean said.
Meanwhile
The Security forces of Gorilla City were pushed into a corner by Grodd's forces.
Thats when Multiple portals opened up before the Legion arrived.
"Why am I not surprised." Grodd said as they went into one building.
Joker laughed as he was about to gut a child when Batman punched him away.
"So you survived again." Batman said unamused.
"You should know me by now Bruce. I don't die that easy." Joker said.
Sean right now was battling against Madara as they both crashed into a building.
"I've been looking forward to this match." Madara said.
"Yeah, yeah. As If I never heard that before." Sean said as another portal opened up before Godzilla stepped through and roared at him.
While this was going on Grodd was in the central control room with Lena.
"Everything is in order." Lena said.
"Good. Now all thats left is this." Grodd said pulling out some DNA matrix.
"Why would you need that if you can just control the will of the people?" Lena asked.
"Who said anything about controlling people? No Lena my plans are far more grand. With this device you helped make. I will turn everyone on Earth...INTO AN APE!" Grodd yelled shocking her.
Outside Madara yelled as Godzilla destroyed his ultimate defense making him crash down.
As he was on the ground a spear pierced his heart making him gasp in pain looking up seeing the Hunter Wolf who snarled at him before grabbing his head.
"NOOOO!" Madara roared as he took his head right off.
"Nice work." Sean said rushing inside to see Grodd's little machine about to turn on.
"NO!" Grodd yelled about to blast him but Sean beat him to it.
"Another time Sean." Lena said leaving with him.
Rushing to the machine he pulled it out before throwing it up high as it exploded releasing the souls in the heart back to where they belonged.
Sighing Sean walked outside seeing several members of Regime captured and dead.
"Wheres Grodd?" Diana asked.
"Got away. Then again I'm not surprised." Sean said.
"Look who we got." Mike said showing Drake who struggled.
"Oooh. The escaped killer." Sean said as Venom took over.
"No...I brought you here! YOU SHOULD SERVE ME!" Drake yelled.
"Fuck you." Venom said bitting his head off and spat it out in disgust. "Yuck." Venom said as Sean took over.
"And we also got another escapee." Mike said seeing Balalaika cuffed as she glared.
"Reznov will be happy thats for sure." Sean said.
Meanwhile
"Since theres only one Ape here it's clear Sean and the Legion stopped your little device before it could go off." Lena said with what was left of the Regime.
"Theres more than one way to peel a Banana. Next time." Grodd said.
"I wasn't gonna do this for another month but seriously?" Lena asked pulling out a plasma gun shocking him. "Turning everyone into Apes and wasting what was left of our resources? That was your master plan?" Lena asked before she shot him in the head blowing it off as he fell over. "If anyone wants to object I'll be taking over from now on." Lena said getting everyone who was left to agree.
Meanwhile
Rouge was in a machine that was stripping her of her powers before it stopped making her sigh.
"Sorry hon. It was the only way you would get out." Sean said.
"Yes, I suppose. Still there are some benefits to this." Rouge said smiling at him making him smirk.
In another Cell was Balalaika before her son walked in.
"Hello Johnny." Balalaika said kindly.
"Mom." Reznov said sitting down.
"You seeing me one last time before I'm put on Death's row?" Balalaika asked.
"That might be avoided...If you tell me what your hiding." Reznov said making her raise an eyebrow. "When you were captured after the Kaiju were defeated for good...You said you Only and then cut yourself off from saying why you killed dad. So clearly theres something I'm not seeing." Reznov said making her frown looking away. "Fine. Keep it to yourself. I'll have to explain to Vlad why his Grandmother killed his Grandfather in my own words when he's older and any other kids we have." Reznov said about to leave.
"Wait." Balalaika said stopping him. "You win. You might want to sit down." Balalaika said getting him to do so. "What do you remember about him?" Balalaika asked.
"He was a general in the Russian military. Highest rank like Kruger's father. Said I was his biggest achievement." Reznov said.
"Thats true. Your father loved you more than anything. But...He felt you should have more and...Was going to do something I knew could cost us your life if he went through with it." Balalaika said.
"What are you talking about?" Reznov asked.
"Your father was planning a means to kill all the high ranking officials in every other military to...Deliver a crippling blow to the world outside Russia. He told me about it saying Russia and you should have more. I knew his ideals could come and cost us everything. He wouldn't listen though. You knew how stubborn he could be." Balalaika said making him snort.
"Yeah." Reznov said.
"So I had no choice. I killed him. It was the only thing I could do...To keep you safe and out of an earlier world war 3 if his actions backfired. I just didn't know you saw." Balalaika said shocking him.
"So...You killed him to prevent a war and keep me Safe?" Reznov asked making her nod. "Why didn't you just say so?" Reznov said.
"Cause I knew how much you looked up to him. I didn't want to take that away from you. I already took him away I couldn't bare to see you hate him for something like that." Balalaika said.
"Mom. Being honest...Is better than lying and making yourself look the villain." Reznov said.
"When Vlad's older maybe you'll understand a parent will do whats necessary for their children. Even if they end up hating them for a long time." Balalaika said.
Later
Tala screamed as she was in the process of giving birth.
Thats when Sean walked in.
"Just in time." Ann said.
"YOU! YOU DID THIS TO ME!" Tala screamed .
"Why is it all of you constantly blame me for something you wanted in the first place?" Sean asked making her growl as she started panting before screaming as she heard soft crying making her sigh as Ann took the baby away.
Only for Tala to scream again.
"Hmm?" Ann said as she took another look. "Oh we've got one more." Ann said shocking her as Tala started panting again.
"AHHHHH!" Tala screamed as she gave birth again before hearing another soft crying making her sigh as Ann took the second one again.
Tala cried lightly as Sean held her.
"It's over." Sean said kissing her.
Thats when Ann brought the first one wrapped in a pink blanket making her smile as she held her baby girl.
She had purple hair like her but as she opened her eyes she had her father's forest green eyes.
"Oooh. Aurora." Tala sobbed as she held her close making her coo softly while Sean kissed her forehead.
Ann soon came back with the second one in a blue blanket making Tala smile softly looking at her son who had white hair but as he opened his eyes he had purple eyes making her sob.
"Merlin." Tala said making Sean smile he held them close. "Mama loves you two so much." Tala said as they giggled at their mother.
"You got both a girl and boy." Sean said making her smile.
"Perfect." Tala said holding them close.
Authors Note: Holy shit I am so sorry for the long ass wait but my focus has been on my other stories like my Legend of Korra stories. Seven of which are actually finished unlike most of my stories. I'll try to get back into my other stories when I get the chance. Now Next Chapter is Patriot's act which will have Hager facing Sean which everyone has been looking forward to.
