Chapter 162 The Regime's last stand

Sean was down in the most secure area in Legion HQ looking at the key that could open the book of Destiny.

"All the power of the universe at one's disposal is blocked by a simple key." Sean said.

"Better that than letting anyone have that kind of power." Batman said walking in.

"Yup. Amazed my Grandfather actually found the book in his day and Hittler never even got the chance to use it." Sean said as they left.

"You know the Regime is going to come after us harder than before. Now that they lost about half their forces they had left." Batman said.

"Oh I know. But because of Grodd's actions I wouldn't be surprised if Lena or someone else killed him since his actions only benefited himself." Sean said.

"True. So what do you think they plan to do?" Batman asked.

"Honestly I have no idea and that is what concerns me." Sean said as they left.

Soon enough they made it to a meeting room where the best members of the Legion were at.

"All right everyone shut up." Sean said getting them to do so.

"Bud...It's been 2 months since the Regime was last seen. We need to do something before they do." Russo said.

"Hell yeah." Gat said.

"I don't disagreed. But all the members who were left died during the last battle because of Grodd's actions. We have no idea where they are." Sean said.

"Skull. You, Six-Shot and Chase were in it for years. Got any ideas?" Duke asked.

"Nothing. Believe me I'd tell you. We all would. Honestly I hated the Regime to be honest since Vilgax made us stay or we would be killed." Atomic Skull said.

"You know I recall Grodd mentioned something about a contingency plan incase things went south. But he never gave an exact location." Six-Shot said.

"Did he give anything that could give us some clues?" Natasha asked.

"Somewhere in the swamps I think." Six-Shot said.

"Wait swamps? You mean they're on Earth?" Raph asked.

"Where else do you think they'd be?" Casey asked.

"Oh like your bone head already knew that." Raph said.

"Knock it off." Sean said.

"If we find out which Swamp they're in we can take them out for good." Hellboy said.

"Oh I know. But locating them is a problem since their cloaking technology is nothing short of impressive." Sean said.

"Once we do find them then what? Launch a full on assault?" Gear asked.

"Sounds good to me." Johnny Cage said.

"Can't we just blast them?" Captain Rex asked getting everyone to agree.

"We don't have nukes anymore since those are obsolete these days. Besides I ain't destroying an entire area just to kill a small group of people who aren't as much a threat as others were." Sean said.

Meanwhile

"You absolutely out of your mind!" MODOK yelled at Lena as everyone argued about her plan to attack Legion HQ.

"We can't attack them on their turf! They'll slaughter us!" Gunray yelled.

"What do all of you want to do? Just wait a few decades before we have sufficant numbers on our side for the next batch of villains to replace the ones we lost?" Lena said.

"Its better than dying so pointlessly." Aurra said.

"I'm she's right." DeVoe said getting everyones attention. "Even if we did wait that long thier numbers would increase even further. Plus Thanos would help them making it far more difficult. Waiting...Is Illogical." DeVoe said.

"What the hell are we supposed to do? We have maybe...A thousand troops left because Grodd screwed us over. We had 10,000 back then before that. Even if we launch an attack it will just end up getting us killed." Jose said.

"If this works out perfectly...No one stays dead." Lena said.

"What does that even mean?" Rawlings asked.

"The book of Destiny. We know the Key has got to be their vault. We get that...We can open this book and change everything. We can win the war we lost on Olympus with that book." Lena said.

"And could bring back those we lost because of Grodd. We have no other options." Zerif said.

"Maybe...We could just go to another universe first and then...Get some help. Or what about Apocalypse? Maybe they could help us." Onaga said.

"They won't. Their caught in a Civil war and the Legion is just letting them. The Gordanians and every other species we could ask for help are gone. We're all thats left to stand against the Legion." Lena said.

"Say we do get to the key...What do you plan to do with it?" Cade Bane asked.

"I plan to make sure the Legion loses. And we come up on top. We can have what should have been ours." Lena said getting everyone to agree.

"I think we're out of options...This is our only chance." Orochimaru said.

"And we know they have several of our members captured there. We go in we can free them and make the odds even better." Danzo said.

"We have no choice. We have to attack. But we need to lure most of their forces away before that." Ventress said.

"I have an idea for that. But it involves giving this place up. We need to use it as a distraction for them to lure them out." Lena said.

"I always hated this place anyway." Hidan said.

"Joker...I have something special for you." Lena said.

"I'm not missing all the fun." Joker said.

"Oh no...Your gonna do something better...You and Brandon." Lena said making him glare.

"What are you up to?" Brandon asked.

"Simple...I want Sean to suffer in some way incase things don't go as planned...I want you two to kill his children." Lena said shocking him.

"Absolutely not. No fucking way!" Brandon yelled making her smirk.

"Can I have a word with you?" Lena asked leading him away. "I don't think you understand. I'm not giving you a choice. You will kill his children...Or I'll expose you here and now." Lena said.

"I don't kill kids. I got standards. Unlike your cruel ass." Brandon said. (By the way incase people forgot picture Brandon as John Cena)

"I got standards too. And I want this world to be better. But they won't as long as Sean and his Bloodline are still around. Hence why you and Joker will got to his home...And kill them...Or you can face everyone outside and die a horrible death." Lena said making him glare. "Besides...Don't you blame his family for the death of your father? Gabriel Kruger?" Lena asked.

"DON'T...Go there." Brandon said leaving making her smirk.

Brandon was outside drawing a shaky breath as he got his thoughts together.

"Hey Kid."

Brandon widened his eyes turning around seeing his father Gabriel Kruger. (Picture him as Micheal O'Neil)

"Dad?" Brandon asked making him smile.

"If Only your mother could see you now." Gabriel said.

"Dad...I don't...I don't know what to do." Brandon said.

"Oh yeah?" Gabriel asked.

"I...Hate Sean and his family for what happened over 20 years ago. I mean...If it wasn't for them..." Brandon said.

"Brandon...I didn't die because I went on a mission Tom was supposed to...I died...The way I wanted to. In the field." Gabriel said.

"What? Why would you chose to die?" Brandon asked.

"Cause...I was gonna die anyway." Gabriel said.

"What are you talking about?" Brandon asked making him chuckle.

"You know your uncle my little brother was right to Listen to your Aunt when he did to stop smoking. Saved him. I should have listened." Gabriel said.

"Wait...Did you have Cancer?" Brandon asked as he nods. "Why didn't you tell me?" Brandon asked.

"I made a letter for you...But a little accident and it got lost...And this is the result." Gabriel said making him sigh.

"I don't believe this." Brandon said.

"Son...I know it's been hard...Since that day...But I know you're no criminal. You shoot but you don't kill innocents. Your not like them. Your venting. You have a choice now. Be the man I always knew you'd be...Or let this bitch control you for her own gains. Cause let me tell you she's no different than the last leader you had." Gabriel said as he vanished.

Later

Sean was in his office going over some new reports when an Alert came up making him rush out.

Heading to the command room he saw everyone getting ready.

"Whats going on?" Sean asked.

"We just got this image from our space probes. Take a look at this." Lane said showing the Regime's base.

"Marsh Country. So thats where they are. Why are we just now finding it?" Sean asked.

"We're seeing some damage on the outside of the place. My guess is there must be some kind of infighting." Batman said.

"Mobilize 90% of what we have here. Just incase things aren't as they seem and they have something else planned." Sean said.

"Let's get this done." Gat said.

Soon most of the Legion showed up seeing heavy damage to the outside.

"Damn." Shaundi said.

"Uncle does not like this at all." Uncle said.

"You never like anything...OW!" Ben said as he finger whipped him.

"Do you want a piece of Uncle?" Uncle dared.

"Remind me again? Why hasn't he taken the serum yet?" Reznov asked making Sean chuckle.

"You know how stubborn he is. Then again he's more funny this way." Sean said as they went inside.

Inside however there was no damage.

"Ok thats weird. Theres damage on the outside but none on the inside?" Alex Mercer asked.

"Yeah...Thats weird." Sean said before they heard whimpering making them look seeing Gunray holding some controller.

"Help me." Gunray said making Sean look seeing explosives.

"There are explosives all over the place." Sean said.

"Oh boy and these ones have a high level explosion radius alone. Together they'll take out 10 miles." Kiva said.

"Wheres Grodd?" Sean asked.

"Dead...Lena killed him after he used our resources to his own gains." Gunray said before yelling as his whole body started in a familiar pattern.

"Explosive seals!" Kakashi yelled.

"EVERYONE OUT!" Sean yelled as they ran outside.

And a minute later the whole place exploded taking out a good portion of the swamp.

"Holy shit." Gat said as Sean and a few others made a shield big enough to protect them.

"The hell was that all about?" Matt Miller asked.

"This was a distraction. What is Lena up to?" Sean asked.

"Sean! We got a problem here!" Hobbs yelled.

"Now what?" Sean asked.

Hobbs and Toretto were firing at some Regime troops.

"Regime is here. They came out of nowhere and got most of us pinned." Dom said.

"What the? This was a distraction and ambush hoping to take some of us out. EVERYONE BACK TO BASE!" Sean roared.

Lena was heading to the security vault before it sealed up tight.

"Clever Kruger. But not clever enough." Lena said pulling out a device.

Ultron was in the security room before accessing everything.

"I'm in the system." Ultron said.

"Open all the cell doors. Let our reinforcements out." Lena said as they did.

Juggernaut busted out of his cell before laughing.

"It's payback time!" Juggernaut roared as everyone escaped.

Meanwhile

Asami and the others were knocked out at the house by the Joker who used special gas Lena made to do so.

Currently the only kid there was Junior while the others were out.

"Oh how I am going to enjoy hearing you scream." Joker said with a knife in hand.

Only for his Indorapter to ram him making him yell in surprise as he roared at him.

"Oh look a Pet Dino. Eat this!" Joker yelled shooting a knock out gun at him making the Indoraptor roar before passing out as Spyro got in front of Junior. "Oooh a dragon too. This will be fun." Joker said before Brandon aimed at him. "What are you doing?" Joker asked annoyed.

"This." Brandon said.

BANG!

Meanwhile

Sean rushed through the cells seeing everyone gone as multiple explosions went off all over the place.

"I don't fucking believe this." Sean said.

Thats when he got pushed into a wall by Abomination.

"I will enjoy crushing you." Abomination yelled before Hulk rushed at him pushing him back.

"Oh for fucks sakes. Could this get any worse?" Sean asked before getting blasted by Dalon Wong.

"I will make you pay for putting me here for so long Kruger." Dalon Wong said.

Only to get blasted in the chest making him gasp in pain as he fell over as Mordo killed him before standing over Sean making him raise an eyebrow before he offered a hand.

Taking it he pulled him up.

"This doesn't change anything you know." Sean said.

"I know...At the least I can make some amends." Mordo said as Shinock, Kylo Ren and Graviton showed up as Sean pulled out his blades while Mordo got his magic ready.

"TRAITOR!" Kylo roared as they charged at them.

Meanwhile

Juggernaut was going head to head with Superman both proving to be equally strong.

"IS THAT THE BEST YOU GOT!" Juggernaut roared before getting punched back by to his Shock Mala.

"You're helping me?" Superman asked.

"Let's just say I don't want to be in a cell or die again. Leave it at that." Mala said.

"Fair enough." Superman said as they charged at him.

William Dunbar yelled as Yumi had him fly into multiple walls with her abilities.

"I should have killed you for not picking me!" William yelled as he tried to slash her but Ulrich blocked him before kicking him back as Odd shot arrows at him from his palms making him roar in pain.

"And I should have kicked your ass years ago." Yumi said as Aelita blasted him back making him roar in pain as he flew through a wall before Snake eyes slashed his throat killing him.

Sean and Mordo fought through several Regime members before they came up against Ultron.

"Hello Kruger. Been a long time." Ultron said.

"Oh hell no." Sean said annoyed as he tried to blast them but Mordo shielded them before they took cover.

"You two have history?" Mordo asked.

"A lot less complicated than ours is." Sean said as he tried to blast them again before Vision came through the wall and fought him.

Thats when Strange, Wong and Fate arrived.

"Mordo." Strange said plainly.

"Relax he's on our side just making amends." Sean said.

"Making Amends is one thing. Being forgiven is another." Wong said.

"Theres another saying. Being forgiven is easy. Forgiving yourself is even more difficult." Mordo said.

"We'll talk about this later." Sean said as the building shook.

"Lena is in the vault trying to gain access to the key." Fate said.

"Mordo and Strange are with me. Get rid of everyone in the Regime. No prisoners unless they actually surrender." Sean said.

"Got it." Strange said as they rushed off.

Eddie Kim yelled as he was shooting at some Legion troops but was pinned down.

"Oh Kim." Hobbs said behind him.

"What!" Kim yelled as he was thrown into a wall making him yell in pain as the others showed up.

"Oh I've been looking forward to this." Roman said.

"So what? Are you gonna kill me?" Eddie Kim asked.

"Us? No. But she will." Dom said as a shadow was over them making him look and gasped seeing Sean's Scarlet Boa Betty above him. (Incase people forgot she's from Boa vs Python)

"No...AHHHHH!" Eddie kim screamed as she wrapped around him before she ate him.

"Ugh. Thats a horrible death." Leon said.

"But it suits him and Ironic. He filled up a plane full of deadly snakes and now he's eating by one." Tej said. (Oh the Irony. This is why I had him brought back to life in Jurassic Park 3)

Every where the Legion was fighting against the Regime.

The Shredder roared as he fought against the turtles.

"Your going down this time Shredder!" Leo yelled kicking him back.

"I fight to win this time!" Shredder yelled before the ceiling came down repeating them.

"Sean! This whole building is falling apart." Donny said.

"I can tell. It wasn't designed for this. End your battles quickly." Sean said.

Kratos roared as he fought off against Acnologia who was in his dragon form before stabbing his eyes making him roar in pain as they crashed outside.

"I suggest we do so quickly." Kratos said as he slashed his head right off.

Burke was running for his life as he tried to escape the building before getting cornered by Xenomorphs.

"No...AHHHH!" Burke screamed as he was tackled by them and torn to pieces. (I love this death so much since he tried to profit from them and ended up getting killed because of his own greed. Wait till you see what happens to him in Avatar of Justice)

Sean and his team made it downstairs seeing Lena with the Key in hand as she unlocked the book.

"LENA!" Sean roared making her smirk.

"You're too late Sean. I have what I need." Lena said.

"If you think that book is going to help you change the tide of the war." Sean said.

"Oh no this isn't for the Regime. I couldn't care less about them. They were just a means to an end. Everyone who dies today is not my concern." Lena said.

"Then what do you want?" Strange asked.

"I'm gonna make this universe better. By starting from the beginning. By preventing his bloodline from ever being created." Lena said as she used a time gadget before vanishing.

In the past

Amara was back in her garden working on her flowers.

Thats when Lena appeared.

"You must be Amara Kruger. Allow me to introduce myself. I'm..." Lena tried to say.

"I know who you are Lena." Amara said surprising her. "Don't act so surprised. You're talking to one of the most powerful beings in the universe." Amara said.

"Then you know I'm here to make sure Sean and his bloodline are never born." Lena said.

"Thawn tried the same thing two days ago and failed. What makes you think you'll do any better." Amara said.

"With this book...I'll make sure of it." Lena said as Amara faced her before smirking.

"Go ahead and try." Amara said as Lena tried to open the book but couldn't.

"What? Why won't it...Why wont it open!" Lena yelled making her laugh.

"You are a fool." Amara said.

"Whats going on?" Lena demanded.

"You can't open that book even with the key." Amara said.

"And how would you know?" Lena asked.

"I made that book." Amara said shocking her. "I made that in what your time would call...A Break glass emergency. It can only be used by those who's intentions are purely good. Your are not." Amara said as the General suddenly appeared and Lena was shocked seeing all six infinity stones on him.

"Truly you're an embarrassment to your race in your time." The General said.

"I am trying...To make the universe better! By making them make the right choices! To make them stop making bad ones!" Lena yelled.

"And what choices are you making? You call yourself a savior? By trying to kill innocent people? Children who have done nothing wrong to you?" Amara asked making her glare.

"Sean...Left me...Just because he didn't share my ideals! We could have made the world perfect!" Lena yelled.

"Your as selfish as you are cruel. You claim you want to help people but you try and murder innocents. How is that helping anyone but yourself. Your no different than your own brother. A man who was willing to slaughter the whole universe to remake it in his own image." The General said.

"I am nothing like Lex. I am not the bad guy here." Lena said.

"So what? What your doing is good? If Sean's Son died you would say it was for the greater good? How does that not make you a villain? I don't think you fully realize how cruel your own actions are. You court destruction and death...You care only for yourself. You are always going to be...A Luthor. A destroyer." Amara said making her widen her eyes.

"Be gone." The General said using the time stone to send her back.

In the Present.

Lena appeared in front of Sean.

"I..." Lena tried to say before Sean grabbed her by the throat strangling the life out of her as she choked.

"I am going to do this world a favor and end you here and now." Sean said as she gasped for air.

"I'm...Sorry." Lena gasped out as Sean entered the Ghost Rider state.

"Look into my eyes. Your soul is stained by the blood of the Innocent. Feel...THEIR...PAIN!" Sean roared as she gasped as the people she hurt and killed came at her with a vengeance as her eyes burned before he dropped her dead body.

Sean sighed as he looked at her corpse.

"It had to be done." Mordo said.

"Yes. Status?" Sean asked.

"Most of the Regime is dead...Only a small handful managed to escape. About 98% are Dead while 2% are captured or unaccounted for." Batman said.

"I don't see Joker or Brandon here." Nightwing said making Sean narrow his eyes.

Later

Sean rushed through his home.

"Junior!" Sean yelled as Diana rushed in.

"Sean?" Diana said making him look seeing Joker's dead body full of holes.

"Hey." Brandon said with Junior and his Indoraptor next to him while outside The I-Rex and Sean's Sabertooth were outside after the gas wore off on them. (Just incase people forgot since it's been so long the Sabertooth came from the Sabertooth chapter during the two year period no one had powers)

"Hey." Sean said as Diana took Junior. "So what happened?" Sean asked.

"Lena sent us to kill your kids...I refused and killed him...After I had a talk with Dad as a...Ghost or whatever. Told me he had cancer so him going on that mission wouldn't have changed a thing." Brandon said.

"We already knew that. Dad didn't find out till after his Autopsy and wanted to tell you but you left after our little fight at School." Sean said making him nod.

"I'm...Really sorry for the pain I put you through." Brandon said.

"Ah...Don't worry about it Brandon. We're family and thats never gonna change." Sean said making him smirk.

"You always were soft." Brandon said.

"Says the jackass who got his ass kicked by a ten year old almost 20 years ago." Sean said making him chuckle.

"True." Brandon said.

Later

"Welp...This has just made our lives...10 times better." Sean said to the Legion with Mala and Mordo giving a probation period for their parts.

"We still have a small handful of enemies out there that managed to escape. Shredder, The Brain, Rawlings, DeVoe, Zola and Destro." Batman said.

"Very true. But this was a major victory for all of us. The Regime is now nearly destroyed. And soon we can look forward to a long time of peace." Sean said.

"Let's hope so." Superman said.

Authors Note: And with that the Regime is nearly completely destroyed. Man this was intense. I really loved how Eddie Kim died since it was more Ironic and perfect than him taking a bullet.
