"Oh, you're home." Mom declared. "Kind of early I might add. Did you not have practice?"
"I was feeling sore, so I came straight home." I lied. Hopefully, no one had told her that I left school. That seemed like a way to get her not super worried about me
"Let's hope it's not something serious." She replied. "But since you're home early, I guess you'll both be here to see the surprise."
"What surprise?" Cody and I both asked. What kind of surprise could she possibly have for us?
"Come inside. You can come too Max." She answered. I really just wanted to know what it was,
The three of us walked into the room. I couldn't believe that he was here. I wondered why he was here. I ran over to him and gave him a tight hug.
"Hey Princess." Dad greeted me. I couldn't help but blush. It was embarrassing but I still didn't care because he was here. "I thought you had cheerleading today."
"I was feeling sore, so I came home." I repeated. How would know if I had cheerleading practice. "What are you doing here, Dad?"
"The tour was over, and I thought I would spend time with the fam including my smokin' hot wife." He answered before he kissed Mom. What the fuck? They were still together?
"So Max, it's good to see you again." He told the brunette.
"Yeah, you too, Mr. Martin." Max responded. I was pretty sure that she was nervous because she had never met my dad before.
"Please call me Kurt. Mr. Martin is my father." He said. "Besides, you're practically part of this family."
That was a bit surprising. Yes, Max had been close with Cody and I before, but she was never really on a first name basis with my mom. I was also still a little hung up on the fact that they weren't divorced. Why weren't they divorced?
"So, I guess since you're home early, Zoey you can help me with dinner." Mom replied. What?
"Shouldn't Cody be doing that?" I asked.
"Cody only cooks on Thursdays and Sundays." She declared. Who was cooking on the other nights then? "You know that."
"Do you think that I can talk to Max for a few minutes first?" I requested. I needed a break to reconcile with all of the changes that were going on. Okay, I am surprised that I know that word.
"Okay I'll give you an hour." Mom told me.
The two of us walked through the suite until we found a room with pink walls. Of course, my room had pink walls. Actually, how were they able to pink them pink? It actually looked a lot like a girl's room. The bed had pink sheets, the dresser had CDs by Hannah Montana, Taylor Swift and Adam Lambert on it. Next to them was a picture of the two of us at a Sox game. We were both wearing the same thing: a cap, a jersey, and a pair of shorts. There were a few feminine garments on the floor and a closet full of clothes and shoes. It took me a minute to take in all of the changes.
"So why did so much change?" I asked in surprise.
"I think it's like that movie The Butterfly Effect with Ashton Kutcher." Max explained. I was pretty sure that I had heard that mentioned before but I had definitely never seen it.
"I didn't see that one." I commented.
"Basically, if you change one thing in the past, say you being born as a girl, it can change a multitude of things in the future. I'm not quite sure how but maybe your mom can cook because she has a daughter that she wants to teach how to cook." She clarified. "Does that make sense to you?"
"Yeah, I guess it does." I answered. It kind of made sense but I didn't really like it.
"Though I didn't know that I owned a pair of shorts that short." She remarked. She looked good in them. We both looked cute dressed like that. "I wonder if she changed me as well."
"We didn't go in your room." I pointed out. We didn't really need to.
"I really hope not. I like who I am." She stated. She didn't even look particularly girly in the picture.
"You're not the only one." I remarked. I was pretty sure her being slightly more feminine was not worse than me being a girl.
"You know what I mean." She responded. "That girl really fucked reality up."
"So maybe we should talk to Cody to see if he can teach me how to cheer." I stated as I took my shoes off.
We walked to the adjacent room where the door was closed and locked. I took a pin out of my hair that I was just there since I was changed and never really took out and used it pick the lock on the door.
"Cody, I need to talk to you about…oh my god…" I started before I saw what was going on and hung my mouth open.
I couldn't believe what I saw. Cody was sitting on his bed with his shirt off and Bailey was on the screen wearing only her bra, rubbing her chest. I was pretty sure that Max was just as speechless as I was.
"What are you doing in here?" Cody asked in embarrassment as he quickly threw on a shirt.
"The better question is what are you doing in here?" I asked. Part of me thought that I should wash my eyes. "Are you two skypesexing?"
"Umm" Cody stammered.
"Well…" Bailey replied from other side of the screen as she began to put her top on. "Hi Zoey."
"Have you two ever…?" I asked. I didn't know why it was I having trouble talking about sex. Maybe it was because I didn't want to think of my brother having it.
"No." Bailey replied quickly while blushing.
"Then why are you doing this?" Max asked. "Do you really want your first time to be in a way you can't touch each other?"
I wasn't sure how that would be enjoyable. Okay, there would probably be some enjoyment, but it wouldn't as enjoyable as if they were in the same room…I need to stop thinking about it.
"You must be Max." Bailey said, changing the subject. "I recognize you from the picture Zoey had of you. I think she really missed you a lot. I'm sure she told you we were roommates."
"You didn't answer the question." Max pointed out.
"I don't know." Bailey admitted. "Maybe she's right, Cody. I mean it's only two weeks."
"I guess I would rather touch you in person." Cody agreed.
"Awkward." I commented before Max, and I hastily backed out of the room. I was still disturbed. "That could have gone better."
"So, I thought you said Bailey pretended to be a boy because all of the girls' spots were filled." Max replied.
"Maybe since there were two more girls than guys, they used one of the boys' rooms for us." I guessed. It would make sense. "So, since Cody is busy, what should we do now?"
Suddenly my phone made a sound. I took it out and looked at it.
"What is it?" Max asked.
"It says I got three new subscribers to my YouTube channel." I stated. "But I don't have a YouTube channel."
At that point, Max's phone rang, and she answered it. It wasn't on speaker, so I couldn't hear what the other person was saying.
"Hello? I'm at Zoey's. Yes, the rockstar's daughter. Yes, I haven't forgot. I'll ask her. I love you, bye." She replied before hanging up the phone. I was gonna guess it was her mother.
"What was that about?" I asked.
"My mom called to remind me of the debutante ball is on Sunday." She stated. "And she asked me to invite you."
"WHAT?" I retorted.
"It's because your dad is famous rockstar and all." She explained.
"No way." I declared. I folded my arms under my chest, which I had to admit that felt a little weird because I didn't think that I did it right. I would have to learn how to adjust to these breasts.
"Please do it for me. You kind of owe me." She begged. I sighed. I was pretty sure that I was going to have to do it because she was my best friend.
"I really don't wanna go." I repeated. I would at least try to see if I could convince her to go without me.
"I don't either but maybe it will suck less if you're there." She relented. Yeah, I was going to have to go. I couldn't help it. I was too good of a friend. "Please I won't ask for anything else."
"Fine I guess I'll go with you." I agreed. "But I definitely am I not going to like it. Why do you go to so many of these anyway?"
I at least hoped that I wouldn't like it. Max didn't make it sound fun.
"Well my parents consider me a junior debutante and all of these are practice for the real thing when I turn 18. But I get my inheritance when I'm 18 and I'm probably go to move out so I don't have to be an actual debutante." She explained. I had a feeling that things wouldn't work out the way she wanted them to. "I just do what they say so I can get my money."
"They're probably not going to like that." I stated.
"I know but whatever." She replied as she laid down on my bed. "Maybe I can stay here with you. So I wonder who all has been in this bed."
"Cody made it sound like I'm a virgin." I stammered with a blush.
"Yeah I know." She replied with a giggle. "I just wanted to see your reaction when I said that."
At that point, I threw a pillow at her, but she seemed mostly unphased by it.
"So how does walking in on your brother when he's about to have online sex feel?" She asked. Did we really need to talk about that? It was already embarrassing enough seeing it, we didn't need to recap it or anything.
"It's one of the most uncomfortable feelings in the world especially since I didn't think Cody would do something like that." I answered with a blush.
"It could have been worse." She pointed out.
"How?" I questioned as I started to pick some clothes up off of the floor. I wasn't sure but I just felt like doing it.
"Bailey could have been in there and they could have actually been having sex." She pointed out. I chose to ignore that image and instead noticed something in front of me and smiled. 'What?"
"This is the longest that I've seen you wear a skirt." I remarked. "I think you might like it."
"Well maybe it's not so bad." She stated. I was pretty sure that she didn't hate being girly as much as she said that she did. "So, if you had to pick one thing that you like about being a girl, what would it be?"
"Wow that's such a hard question." I admitted. There were a few things that I liked. I liked how my skin felt. Actually it wasn't that hard of a question at all. "Wait. No, it's really easy. It's the fact that my parents are still together for some reason."
"Yeah, your dad seems pretty cool." She commented. "So maybe we should see what kind of clothes you have. Maybe I can change out of this skirt."
"Maybe if you're lucky you'll get to meet my uncle." I declared as I opened my closet.
"I didn't know you had an uncle." She replied.
"Well, we don't talk about him much because his band is more famous than my dad's." I explained. Dad really didn't like him that much. I had cousins that I had never seen before.
"What band is it?" She asked. I was a little surprised that she hadn't guessed. There weren't that many famous bands where the lead singer's last name is Martin.
"Ever heard of a band called Coldplay?" I questioned with a grin. I knew that she had. Everyone had.
"Chris Martin is your uncle?" She asked as she started to get undressed. I looked away because I didn't need to see her getting changed. I didn't even notice that she had stopped. "Zoey, I think you should take a look at this."
So Zoey and Max caught Cody and Bailey in the middle of an intimate situation and also Kurt is still married to Carey. And Kurt's brother is the singer of Coldplay. Please don't forget to review.
