Once the night and the party were over, I headed back to the room to grab my phone. I wanted to out the necklace and the earrings up as well so I didn't lose them. I was going to be heading to a private suite with James. I was strongly considering having sex with him, but I wasn't completely sure that I wanted to. I also took off my gloves. I then heard a knock on the door. I didn't want to deal with anyone at the moment, but I knew it could be Mom or Dad, so I put on a smile. It was not. It was Cody.
"This had better be important." I told him. I was a little bit irritated that he was interrupted.
"It is very important. It's about Bailey." Cody explained. Now I was concerned.
"What happened?" I questioned. I hoped that she was okay. I really hoped that she was okay.
"She's pregnant." He replied.
"What?" I asked in surprise. Okay, I wasn't that surprised. The two of them had a lot of sex. "Is she okay?"
"Not really. She's been a mess all night and I don't know who else to turn to." He explained. It was then that I remembered there was problem. I needed to talk to James to tell him that I couldn't have sex with him tonight. That was unfortunate.
"I have something to take care of. Give me a few minutes." I offered. I thought about taking my dress off, but I didn't want to keep him waiting for too long. "But I will help you out."
I put some shoes on and went down to the Suite 101 where James was staying.
"Hey." James greeted me. This was going to suck. Hopefully he would understand. "Are you ready?"
"Actually, I'm not." I answered. "Something has come up. Something major and I can't do this tonight. But I want you to know that I want to do this, but I can't, and it has nothing to do with you."
"Do you mind asking what it is?" He asked. I tried to think of what to say. I didn't want to tell him that she was pregnant. So, what could I say?
"Bailey's having a breakdown." I remarked. Technically, it was still true. I just didn't tell him what the breakdown was about. "I'm the only one that can help her."
"Yeah, I think you need to be there more than you be here." He remarked. He definitely had more patience than I would in such a situation. I probably have bailed if the roles were reversed. I mean if I was still a guy, and he was a girl. Okay, that's a strange image. "Go help your friend. We can do this some other time."
"Thanks for understanding." I replied before giving him a hug. Once I was done, I headed back to our suite. Cody told me that Bailey was in his room. I was surprised that Mom and Dad weren't back yet, but I was pretty sure they wanted to hit up the bar. They did know that I wasn't getting married, didn't they?
I knocked on the door, and when I got no answer, I once again removed the pin from my hair and picked the lock before I walked into the room,
"Hi." I stated as she looked at Bailey. She was crying with her head down, so she couldn't see me. She then looked up and wiped her tears away.
"Hey Zoey, how was the party?" She asked.
"It was good, but I don't really wanna talk about that right now." I declared before I took a seat on the bed next to her. I wished that I had taken my dress off first. "Cody told me the news."
"So, you know that I'm nothing but a huge screw-up. I've ruined my whole life all because I didn't want to use a condom." She wept. I really hated the notion that a girl is ruining her life by getting pregnant at a young age. Each pregnancy needed to be treated on a case-by-case basis, instead of lumping them all together.
"Bailey, you haven't ruined your life. You're still smart and you're a high school graduate. Do you remember when I thought I was pregnant?" I replied. I hoped that she would be able to help me with this, because I didn't know anything about it.
"That was different!" Bailey yelled. "You have a lot of money and I'm from a small town in Kansas."
"Have you thought about an abortion by any chance?" I questioned. I didn't know if I supported abortion, but it was Bailey's choice. If she wanted an abortion, I wouldn't stop her.
"Yeah, I have, and I don't wanna do it." She answered. Okay, that settled that. "The baby shouldn't have to die just because I made a stupid mistake."
"What about adoption?" I suggested. She could do something like that. Again, I would let her do anything that she wanted, though she might need to discuss it with Cody first.
"I don't think I could do that either." She replied. "Then I'd always be wondering about what could've been. My only choice is to keep the baby. What's Brown going to say when they found out that I got pregnant before I even started? They'll kick me out."
"I'm pretty sure that they can't do that." I stated. I was pretty sure that they couldn't just rescind the acceptance especially for something that happened several months after. "And even if they could, they'd be making a bigger mistake than you did. You're the smartest person I know, even smarter than Cody. Any university that doesn't want you because you're pregnant can suck it."
She laughed at that. I was glad that I got her to smile.
"Besides, you can't be more than two months along. That means you probably won't have the baby till next semester anyway. I don't think anyone will even notice when you walk into class." I added as I put my hand on her shoulder. She then pulled me into a hug, and I hugged her back.
"Thanks, Zoey." She replied. It looked like I was successful in my attempt to cheer her up. "Now I just have to figure out how to tell my parents that I got pregnant so quickly after moving in with my boyfriend."
"I have a feeling that those won't be the only parents that you'll have to explain yourself to." I pointed out. Mom and Dad probably wouldn't be too thrilled about it. "But I think now it would be best to get some sleep."
"That's a really nice dress." Bailey commented as we walked back to our room. It would probably be good for to sleep with meā¦sleep next to me tonight.
"I'll show you the jewelry that goes with it." I offered as I took her inside and showed her the box with the necklace and the earrings in it.
"Wow this diamond is amazing." She gushed. I was pretty sure that she had never seen a diamond like it before.
"Read the inscription on the back." I instructed before she did so.
"Wow just wow." She remarked as she put the necklace back inside of the box. "That's really touching. It actually makes me start to miss my own father."
"Bailey, please don't start crying again." I begged "Let's just go to sleep."
Bailey nodded and both of us changed into sleepwear after washing our makeup off. However, this time we were wearing pajamas because I knew that we would probably need to do something in the morning.
"Why don't you take my bed and I'll sleep on the futon?" I suggested. "Bailey you'll find a way to get through this. You have Cody who loves you."
"Yeah, and I have you too, at least for a little while." She added before she nodded off.
I got onto the futon and slowly fell asleep. I had some nice dreams. However, Bailey wasn't so lucky, and her nightmares also kept me awake. It wasn't the best night sleep. I was pretty sure that my eyes were baggy. Maybe I could take a nap later or something. I didn't really have any plans for today, except for probably seeing James, but I didn't even have to do that.
"I'm sorry that I kept waking you up." She apologized.
"Don't be. I'll just take a nap later." I replied. I didn't want to make her feel worse than she already did. "You should go talk to Cody. He's probably worried about you."
"I'll go do that." She replied before she headed for the door.
"Wait, before you go, is it okay if I tell anyone?" I asked. I probably wouldn't tell James about it, but I wanted to tell Max.
"Who were you gonna tell?" She seemed hesitant, but I wasn't going to tell anyone who she didn't trust.
"Probably just Max." I explained.
"Yeah, you can tell her." Bailey replied before she left the room.
I took out my phone and decided to call her right away as to not put it off.
"Hello?" She answered.
"Hey what are you doing right now?" I asked.
"I'm actually with Marcus right now and I can't really talk right now. I'm waiting on some calls from some radio stations." She explained. So, maybe I should wait to talk to her. I didn't want to hinder Marcus's career at all,
"When will you be free?" I questioned. It could wait until later. It wasn't like this was something that I would just forget.
"I don't know. I'll call you when I'm done." Max replied as I heard her phone beep. "I gotta go, I've got Seacrest calling. Bye."
"Bye." I replied before I hung up.
I needed to think about what the best way I could help Cody and Bailey was. I could tell that they were probably both scared about what was going to happen. Thankfully, we didn't have the money issue that could come with having a kid. I couldn't believe that I was going to be aunt. I also never thought that Cody would have a kid before I did. I didn't think that I wanted to have a kid, but I thought that I would have knocked some girl up and he would wait until he was 30.
Later Cody and Bailey were seated at the table with Mom. She was holding a pregnancy test with a plus sign on it. Dad and I were in the living room. I also didn't think Mom would find out before they could tell the two of them.
"Can either of you tell me what this is?" She asked. It had been a long time since I had heard her sound so angry.
"It's a pregnancy test." Cody answered. That probably wasn't the time for the obvious answer.
"Yes, I know that but why is it positive?" Mom inquired.
"Ummm Congratulations." Cody replied in fake surprise. I was pretty sure Mom was past the age that she could have children and even if she wasn't, she wouldn't want any more.
"Don't try that. This isn't mine especially since I found it in your bathroom." She responded. You know it probably wasn't smart to leave it in the bathroom. It probably would have been a good idea to dispose of it in a place that wasn't easily found. "I can't believe that you two have been having unprotected sex."
"I see where this is going." Bailey stated as she got up. "I'll start packing my things."
"Whoa whoa whoa, Mom." I interrupted. I didn't know if she actually would kick them out, but I definitely couldn't let that happen if she was thinking about it. "You cannot just kick her out because they made a mistake."
"Well for starters, I wasn't going to." Mom replied as she motioned for Bailey to sit back down. I blushed a little for assuming it. "I'm thinking of a completely different punishment. Neither of you are leaving this suite for the rest of the summer except for doctor's appointments."
"Can I at least take her shopping for maternity clothes?" I requested. She would need some, even if it wasn't for another month or so.
"Fine you can do that but come straight home afterwards." Mom replied as she ushered for me and Bailey to leave. Oh, she wanted us to go now. I wasn't planning on going now. "And Zoey?"
"Yes Mom?" I asked.
"Be safe." She told me. I blushed as I realized what she meant. It was a good thing that she hadn't found out about my non-existent pregnancy scare. I would definitely have to remember to use condoms whenever I had sex with James. The two of us got dressed before we headed out to my car.
"So, you're not gonna throw up in my car, are you?" I asked her after we started driving. Maybe it was a little mean, but I really didn't want to clean that up.
"No, I think I'm past morning sickness." She replied. That seemed unlikely.
"Isn't that the first thing?" I questioned.
"Well yeah but I thought it was just a stomach virus. It wasn't until after I missed my period that I suspected it." Bailey answered. "So have you and James been having sex?"
"No, we were going to for the first time last night." I replied.
"God I'm sorry. I can't believe I kept you from that." She apologized as she grabbed her head.
"Bailey, your wellbeing was more important to me. Sex can wait." I explained as we arrived at the mall. "I'm not mad at you. I was a little upset at Cody before he told me what was wrong but I'm not even mad at him anymore."
Buying maternity clothes wasn't the easiest thing when she hadn't started to gain weight yet. It was why I wanted to wait a few weeks to do it. I had to ask the salesgirl for advice because neither of us really knew what to do.
After a few hours of shopping, we headed to the food court of the mall. James had requested off, but I was hoping that he had told them that he could come in since he was now free. Fortunately, I found him at KFC.
"Hey." I greeted him.
"Hi." He replied.
"Do you think you can take a break any time soon?" I requested. I did want to make it up to him for bailing on him.
"Yeah, just give me a few minutes." He explained. "How about I get you the usual for now while you wait?"
"Actually, I want something fried." Bailey piped in. It seemed like she was already having cravings.
"Okay then." He replied as he took the order.
Just as we were finishing up, James came over. The first thing that he did was kiss me. I then took him somewhere a little more private, but still close enough so I could see Bailey.
"So, what do you wanna talk about?" He asked as he let go of my hand.
"Well, I'm really sorry about last night." I repeated.
"There really isn't any reason to be." He stated. I was really glad that he wasn't mad about this. "I completely understand."
"But still, I want to make it up to you. Maybe I can come over to your house after you get off work." I suggested. I wasn't positive that we would, but I would be okay if we did.
"Yeah, that will work actually. My parents won't be home tonight." He agreed. Yeah, we wouldn't have been able to if his parents were there.
"Then I'll see you tonight." I declared before I gave him another kiss.
That night I drove to James's house with a box of condoms in my purse. I told Mom and Dad that I might be staying the night, but I would make sure to call if I did. As soon as I got there, we started to make out. I didn't know how the night would go but I was definitely ready for it.
So Zoey and James did not have sex, but she was a good friend to Bailey. And it looks like the two of them might be doing it soon as well. Please don't forget to review.
