It should be obvious to tell your parents you're dating someone and not have them find out any other way, but that's not what happened to Akari, now Akari's family wants to meet Honey to see if he is good enough for Akari.
Chapter Twelve: Meeting The Family
Akari wasn't sure what to think as he was looking at his phone, specifically a text from his mother's secretary saying his presence was needed at Lobelia Academy. He didn't really want to go because of the chance of seeing those sexist lesbians, but if his mom needed him he wasn't going to say no.
Inside his limo he was driven off to the girl's academy. He knew he was going to stand out, he was the only boy there. He could already see girls walking around the campus as his limo pulled up to the entrance. His driver went and opened the door for him and he stepped out.
He has been to the school before, not as often, but he at least knew where to go to see his mom's office. This situation was really uncomfortable to say the least as he could feel all the stares from the girls as he walked by as well as some comments. Some of them mean and other in awe as if they haven't seen a boy before.
At this point he wouldn't be surprised if that was the case. He knocked on the office door and he heard a 'come in' and he opened the door. He saw his mom, her knee length hair seen as her back was facing him.
"Um, you wanted to see me, mom?" Akari questioned watching his mother look out the window.
"Yes, I did." She said and turned around and faced him making him stand straighter up. "I missed you so much my baby boy!" She exclaimed hurrying over and hugging him making him gasp as his mom was nuzzling him, breaking her serious demeanor. "You're growing up so fast, I can't believe I'm only learning now you have a boyfriend!" She exclaimed and he sweated a bit.
Of course his mom called him to talk about his relationship with Honey. "It's not that big of a deal." He mumbled hearing her gasp.
"Not a big deal? Not a big deal!? This is a humongous deal! The only person I've ever seen you with is Fuji and he's engaged now. I only learned about you having a boyfriend from his mom! How come you didn't tell me or your father!? Don't you trust us? We love you so so so so much, it's a miracle you fell in love, I'm so proud of you!" She said shaking his shoulders back and forth as Akari huffed.
"You two are always busy so I didn't bother." Akari replied during his shaking as his mom gasped again.
"We're never too busy for you, Akari." She told him and kissed his forehead as she ceased her shaking. "Now, I want to know everything about this boyfriend of yours." She said her eyes sparkling as Akari sighed knowing he wasn't going to be able to leave if he didn't.
By the time he told his mom what he wanted to tell her she was swooning in her chair obviously super happy for him, kicking her legs like a child as she held her face with her hands. "Oh, that's so precious! He sounds such a joy! Oh I want to meet him, you should invite him for dinner tomorrow, I'll make sure your father is there to join us meeting your boyfriend." She told him.
"I don't think dad would come to dinner just to meet my boyfriend." He said blushing a bit from the attention and reactions from his mother.
"Oh he will if he doesn't want me angry." She replied with a smile making him sweat a bit.
Akari looked away and sighed. "I'll see if he can come, was this all you wanted me to see me for?" He asked her as she hummed.
"Mostly, but I had something else to tell you." She said sitting up. "But I forgot!" She said making him sweat a bit. "Kidding! You're brother is also coming home tomorrow so he'll be meeting your boyfriend too." She said and if he was drinking something he would've spat it out.
"What? No! Shouldn't he be in America for another few months?" He asked her.
"Oh as soon as he heard his little brother started dating he booked the next flight back home." She told him and he was paling a bit. "Oh don't be so dramatic, I'm sure it'll be fine." She told him as if she haven't been dramatic so far. "Now, give me a kiss I'm sure you have to see your boyfriend soon." She said making a kissy face as he sighed and went over and kissed his mom's cheek before she started peppering his face with kisses.
"Love you too mom." He said before leaving and letting out a sigh of relieve as soon as he was away from his mom. He loved her, but he always got overwhelmed around her. Unlike him she expresses her emotions without a problem, yet she's able to hide it behind a serious and stern facade. Not that she isn't serious or stern, she just didn't get that emotional around people outside her family.
Now he had to ask Honey to come over to his place for dinner tomorrow. He was mostly worried about his brother though. He wasn't excited for this at all.
"Akari, you look like you got shot or something, what happened?" Fuji asked him walking next to him to their lockers.
"My parents found out about me dating Honey and wants to meet him tomorrow during dinner." Akari muttered.
"That doesn't sound so bad, your parents are kinda cool." Fuji said but Akari looked at him.
"My brother's going to be there." Akari said and Fuji paused.
"That's not good, it took me years before he was able to stand my presence around you." Fuji said and Akari just opened his locker putting his head in it.
"He doesn't like anyone if they're involved with me, except family." Akari said and Fuji nodded.
"Yeah, but it'll be okay, you love Honey and he loves you, that's not going to change because your brother has a problem with people being around you." Fuji told him patting his back, but it didn't make him feel better.
Akari's anxiety was felt even when he went to the host club to sit with Honey. It was concerning and worried the others. "Kari? You okay?" Honey asked him softly looking at him worriedly.
"I... My brother is coming tomorrow... And my family wants to meet you over dinner." He told him.
"Woah I didn't know you have a brother, senpai." The twins said and Akari hummed.
"Yeah I prefer to not talk about him." Akari replied.
"Why not?" Haruhi asked him. "He can't be that bad."
"He hates anyone other than family interacting with me. He hardly stands Fuji now since we were childhood friends." Akari said blankly.
"Sounds like a case of an over protective brother." Tamaki said as he started to think of a plan.
Akari looked at Honey when he felt the blonde touch his shoulder. "It'll be okay, Kari. You don't have to worry about a thing." He told him smiling softly and Akari blushed a bit and looked away a bit and nodded.
"Just don't do anything silly to anger him." Akari said and Honey kissed his cheek to comfort him.
"Don't worry, I'll be on my best behavior!" Honey told him smiling brightly though his behavior wasn't a problem... Except when Honey was being very... Flirty with him to say the least. The thought made him blush a bit more as he laid his head in his arms hiding his face.
~Next Day~
Akari was in his room he took deep breaths s he was in formal wear for dinner. His brother would be home any second and Honey would be coming soon. His hands shook a bit and grabbed one of his fidget toys, messing with it to try and calm himself down. He pocketed the toy and headed out of his room and towards the dining room to sit and wait.
"Akari, oh you look so handsome my baby boy." Akari's mom cooed as she was wearing a dress coming up to him to start peppering him with kisses.
"Mom, stop." Akari huffed as she pulled back.
"Oh fine, I'll stop for now. Darling are you excited to meet our son's boyfriend?" She asked looking back towards Akari's father who was sitting at the end of the table. The man didn't get a chance to speak before she interrupted him. "Oh, this is so exciting, and Sero will be here too, both my children. It's been so long." She said happily.
The sound of a car door closing making her perk up. "Oh I wonder who that'll be." She said going to take a seat. Akari looked over towards the entrance.
"The young Master's boyfriend has arrived." His butler said making Akari blush and sigh in his seat.
"He has a name." Akari muttered, embarrassed at just the announcing of Honey coming as his boyfriend.
Honey soon came over with one of the servants leading him in. He smiled spotting Akari and Akari smiled a bit, blushing a bit as Honey was in a suit. "Hello Mr. and Mrs. Hitoshimi you have a nice home." Honey said politely with a smile.
"Oh thank you, you're such a polite gentleman." Akari's mother said before his father could speak up. "Sero should be here momentarily." She informed them once her husband leaned over to her after a servant was next to him with the phone. "Please have a seat."
Honey smiled and he approached and took a seat next to Akari smiling at him. Akari relaxed a bit seeing his smile but only tensed when hearing the door. "Master Sero has arrived."
Akari sat eating his food slightly when food arrived. "So Mitskuni, tell us about yourself?" Akari's mother asked looking over at the blonde. Akari was slightly tuned them out as he glanced at his brother across from them. He didn't look happy and he was silently staring at Honey. His eyes connected to his brother's making Akari look down and continue eating.
"Oh wow, the top of your class and a martial artist, that's quite impressive, don't you think so?" Akari's mother asked smiling.
"He never lost a match." Akari added when he went back to listening.
"Yes, I may be small but I'm used to being underestimated, but my abilities have been the cause of years of training." Honey spoke smiling.
"As well as collecting toys and eating cake everyday." Sero spoke making Akari tense. "Not something you expect for someone in their third year of High School." He said taking a bite of the steak prepared for them.
"My interests hasn't affected school, training, or my relationships." Honey retorted which made Akari nervous about arguing with his brother.
"I'm sure being mistaken as a child really makes your relationship with my brother good for him. As soon as he graduates I'm sure he'll be questioned if he is dating a child." Sero spoke narrowing his eyes.
"My height is not something I can control." Honey replied clenching his fork slightly.
"Maybe acting your age will help see past your height." Sero told him.
Before another word could be said Akari pushed his plate away and stood up. "Akari?" His mother started to question before he spoke up.
"I'm done eating." Akari replied shaking a bit. "A-And I'm tired of you doing this!" Akari shouted at his brother making him sit back at the outburst. "You see one flaw and that makes it your business to try and get rid of them! You tried that with Fuji and you do that with everyone you meet that I ever hanged out with! I don't care how small Honey is. He's sweet and kind and does everything he can to make me feel good about myself. Make me feel good about being around people more!" Akari shouted.
"Akari..." His mother said but Akari raised his hand.
"I'm not finished. You're the reason I can't be around people without feeling bad. I'm starting to be comfortable and make more friends I can trust won't leave me. Why can't you ever be happy for me and be a good brother instead of insulting the people I care about and try driving them away, making me scared to even talk to people without you knowing?" Akari teared up a bit before looking away and heading to his room a slam of the door being heard.
Akari huffed as he went to his bed punching his pillow shaking and he squeezed his fidget toy before throwing that at the wall before burying his face in his pillow muffling a sob.
A knock was heard from his door. "Akari?" Honey spoke softly opening the door. He looked at him softly as he closed the door behind him as Akari looked over at Honey before looking away. Honey climbed on the bed sitting next to him. "It'll be okay." He told him softly rubbing his back gently.
"How do you know? I-I never spoke to him like that... I-I just. He ruined any chances I got at befriending people when I was younger... The only one that stayed was Fuji. His parents and mine are friends so that helped him stay I guess, but if that wasn't the case I'm sure he wouldn't be my friend today." He spoke softly. "I got so used to being alone, that I even convinced myself I didn't want people around me." He shook as Honey listened.
Honey reached out and moved his head to look at him, gently caressing his face. "I know because you speaking up is something that needed to happen, no one would've known how you felt if you didn't. It's scary, but I know it'll be okay and even if it isn't I'm not leaving you." He smiled at him. "Your brother needed to hear that and I'm sure he does care about you and if he doesn't accept it today he will eventually because he loves you." He told him.
Akari sniffed a bit leaning to his touch and looking at him. "I hope you're right." He spoke softly and wrapped his arms around him, hugging him and gave Honey a kiss, surprising him a bit since he was always the one kissing him, but quickly got over it and kissed back.
Honey couldn't stay the night so when he left Akari was still in his bed, hugging his pillow. He stopped crying and just stared at the ceiling until he fell asleep.
Morning came and Akari was up and in the dining room eating breakfast silently. His mother had to go to a meeting so she gave him a hug telling him she'd be back home soon. His father was already at work and his brother... He didn't want to face him after last night.
Footsteps approached and he paused but kept looking down. His brother stood there silently, raising a hand wanting to say something but the words never came out. Sero sat next to him as a maid put his plate down in front of him, Akari not even looking in his direction.
"I'm sorry... I didn't mean to make... Make you feel like that, hurt you. I'll try not to drive people you care about away. I just wanted to make sure they actually cared and would do anything to protect you and keep you safe." Sero told him softly.
"It was too much." Akari muttered slightly playing with his food slightly as he listened to his brother.
"Yeah, I know now... I want to be a good brother to you, Akari, I'm sorry I wasn't." He said and Akari was silent for a bit.
"I can't forgive you... Not yet, I can't." Akari told him and Sero looked at him and looked down and nodded.
"I understand that, I'll just have to prove it in my actions." He told him and Akari slightly smiled at the thought of his brother trying to make things right instead of just driving more people away, away from him.
