Dance Dance Infiltration
AN: Phew. Took me longer than I thought it would, but here it is. And sorry for the delay, I was struck by a case of severe tiredness, caused by not enough blood coursing to the brain. Which in turn was caused by overly stiff back and neck. Had to visit a masseuse to get it fixed.
With the dance still going, some people were still dancing while others had sat down to take a breather. Professor Port was laughing about something with his Blade. Normally the portly Professor would have Oobleck to talk to, but the eccentric history professor was currently busy dancing with Adenine and it looked like the two were greatly enjoying themselves. Though from the few interactions Glynda has had with the book lady, she wasn't sure if Adenine secretly loved dancing, or was it because it was with Oobleck. It was safe to assume the latter at this point.
Speaking of Goodwitch, she felt a tap on her shoulder. She turned to see Ironwood offering his hand with a smile. Glynda rolled her eyes but took the offered hand and moved to the dance floor with the general.
As for Blake, she felt like Nox deserved a dance from her. Although the dark Blade protested on it not being 'appropriate', Blake didn't take no for an answer. While the dark Blade was a decent dancer, the situation felt bizarre to him. A lowly servant dancing with his mistress or at least that's how he saw it.
In another part of the ballroom, Ruby had sat down with Roze for a breather. The young reaper still mildly flustered about dancing with her Blade. "That was...fun, Roze." Ruby managed to say.
"Thank you, Ruby. I wasn't sure if I was good enough." Roze replied back with a smile.
"Come on, you were awesome." Ruby said happily, making her Blade smile more.
"Salutations, Ruby!" Penny suddenly greeted the two.
"PENNY!" Ruby screeched as she jumped out of her seat and hugged the mechanical girl. "How are you here?" Ruby asked in excitement, before noting her pale green dress.
"Kos-Mos and I are here for the dance of course." Penny replied while motioning to a woman with flowing blue hair. The woman looked either to be wearing a mecha styled armor or she was partially mechanical. She had red eyes, with a white forehead piece, similar to Joana. There was also the Core Crystal on her chest that identified her as a Blade.
"You must be Ruby and Roze. Master has spoken a lot about you." Kos-Mos said mechanically.
"Hello." Ruby greeted while marveling at the mechanical frame.
"Greetings." Roze also greeted, offering his hand, which Kos-Mos took and shook firmly.
"So, what do you think?" Penny asked her Blade, earning a confused look from Ruby.
"I believe Ironwood was foolish to order you not to interact with them." Kos-Mos mechanically said what sounded like an insult towards the general.
Roze looked around Penny, noting a little something, "I'm surprised you don't have an escort this time."
"Huh?" Ruby sounded out.
"After we met Penny a second time, I would've expected there to be guards around her now." Roze said, remembering how Penny said her father was protective.
Surprisingly, it was Kos-Mos who answered, "I was able to convince the General, that should Penny be threatened I am more than enough to protect her."
"That was an awesome excuse." Ruby said, giving a smile at the female Blade.
"It was not an excuse," Kos-Mos stated in monotone, "It was the truth."
"Oh." Was the most intelligent comment Ruby could make.
"As Master Penny's Blade, I am more than capable of protecting her. Even without factoring her own combat abilities, or our combined combat prowess." Kos-Mos explained.
"I don't doubt that." Ruby said, having seen Penny fight.
As Ruby started conversing with Penny, Jaune had found himself alone by the punchbowl. Soon enough he was joined by Dahlia.
"You come to hide behind a punch bowl too?" Jaune asked friendly.
Dahlia glanced at Jaune, before giving a friendly smile, "No, I just came here to check on my sculpture." The ice blade then went to check on the beautiful ice replica of Beacon Academy, fixing any melted parts as she did.
"You're pretty good at this." Jaune complimented, seeing how Dahlia was compatible with Weiss' frosty nature.
"Thank you." Dahlia said, before fixing Jaune with a sympathetic look, "Did you get a date?" The ice Blade knew the answer from the look of things, but she still asked.
"No." Jaune said with a sigh. "But I guess Neptune's better than me." Jaune said with a sigh.
"Milord, I still believe you should have asked Lady Nikos." Joana said from her position next to her lord. Right before sipping some punch she had gotten. Of course, she had to be told that it had no alcohol before she even considered it.
"Oh, please. Pyrrha already has a guy." Jaune said, appreciating what his Blade was saying for a change.
"How do you know that?" Dahlia asked out of curiosity. Jaune sounded so sure about it.
"She's Pyrrha Nikos, of course she has someone." the idiotic Arc said back. "By the way, has Weiss been enjoying her time with Neptune?" Jaune then asked, earning a confused look from Dahlia.
"What do you mean?" the ice bunny asked.
"Well, you know...Neptune's cool and all. I get why she would come with him." Jaune said, trying to play off his disappointment. And then he took a sip from his own punch.
"Jaune…Weiss came alone." Dahlia said now having a suspicious look.
That made Jaune hack on his drink, "What!?"
"Weiss told me that she realized that she didn't have time for boys." the ice Blade said, having her expression become frostier by the second. Her Driver did seem a little down for some reason all day, but Dahlia deemed not to ask, thinking it wasn't important. Oh, how wrong she was.
With that, Jaune looked through the ballroom, finally spotting Weiss, trying to fix one of many flowers in a vase, before hanging her head. "But I saw her asking Neptune out." Jaune said, while angrily looking for Neptune. And there he was, laughing about something without a care in the world.
"Is that so?" Dahlia said, making Jaune shiver at the icy edge in her voice. Then the ice Blade saw what Neptune was doing. "He will have a lot of explaining to do, or else I will freeze his balls." the busty woman said having some swirls of cold around her hand for emphasis. Before speed walking towards Neptune. Leaving Jaune behind with Joana.
"Playing with a maiden's heart like that." Joana commented while tightening her grip on her punch mug, "Me thinks Lady Dahlia is much too kind with her intended punishment."
"I thought you don't like Weiss?" Jaune pointed out. He did see Joana and Otohime having a conversation about the knightess' opinion on team RWBY. And it turned out that Joana's opinion of Weiss didn't extend to Dahlia.
"Toying with the heart of a maiden is unforgivable, no matter who it is done to." Joana replied easily. There are things that go above her opinion of people.
"That's true." Jaune agreed, before spotting a patch of red moving to the balcony alone. "Hey, Joana. Would you mind if I talked to Pyrrha?" Jaune wasn't even sure why he was asking that. After all, Pyrrha is his friend.
"Why do you ask? Lady Nikos is your friend," Joana replied easily.
Smiling gratefully, Jaune moved to the balcony where Pyrrha just went to.
Meanwhile Blake and Sun were laughing at something Neptune just told them, when Dahlia came in and dragged the blue haired boy away by the back of his collar.
"What's that about?" Sun wondered aloud as he watched Neptune struggling to not fall over in Dahlia's hands.
"She's not planning something, is she?" Blake asked, not sure what she meant with that herself.
"Lady Dahlia seemed angry." Nox showed on his scroll, wondering if they'll ever see Neptune again, as the said boy was dragged outside.
Outside, where Dahlia had dragged Neptune, the blue haired boy was roughly slammed to a wall.
"Hey, if you wanted some alone time, all you had to do was ask." Neptune said suavely, which was rewarded with Dahlia's palm slamming into the wall... inches away from the idiot's face.
The poor boy withered further when she saw the look in Dahlia's eyes that promised unspeakable horror. "Why did you reject Weiss?" Dahlia asked with a frosty edge.
"What're you talking about?" Neptune replied, trying to play dumb.
Which earned the blue haired boy a slap from Dahlia's bestial hand, which had claws, might I add. "Don't play dumb with me, there was an eye witness who saw Weiss asking you out." the ice Blade said with an extremely frosty edge.
"Oh, crap." Neptune said, "Look, sorry I did that-EEEP!" Neptune was interrupted by a bitball that appeared too close to his face for comfort.
"So, what was it? Is Weiss not good enough for you? Or did you simply not want to limit your options?" Dahlia asked as the blades of the bitball started spinning. Threatening to saw Neptune if she didn't like the answer.
"I CAN'T DANCE!" Neptune finally screamed.
"…What?" Dahlia said in confusion as she dismissed her weapon.
"I can't dance so I had to tell Weiss no, so she wouldn't find out," Neptune said, tears fearing to leak out.
"...Are you telling me, that you rejected Weiss, just because you don't know how to dance?" Dahlia asked in disbelief, despite backing off just a little bit.
"Yeah, pretty much." Neptune admitted.
This confirmation made Dahlia cover her face with her hand, before shaking her head with a sigh. "What do you think of Weiss?" Dahlia then asked, lowering her hand away from her face. Which earned a blank stare from the blue haired boy. "Answer me." the ice bunny said sternly.
"Well, I haven't known her for long, but she seems cool." Neptune admitted, slightly less afraid, "Look if you want me to stay away from her from now on, I can do that. It's the least I can do."
"No. The least you can do is go and apologize to her." Dahlia said with a stern look, "Whether she forgives you or not is up to her."
"Really? You're giving me a chance?" Neptune wasn't sure if he was hearing things.
"Yes, I am." Dahlia said with a sigh, "Now, go there and apologize, no pick-up lines, no suave moves, just the truth. Or will your line ends with you." At the last part, Dahlia made icy swirls on one of her palms.
Neptune whimpered for an instant, before schooling himself somewhat, "Alright. I'll do it."
"Good." With that, Dahlia allowed Neptune to return to the ballroom.
Back in the ballroom, Talos was dancing with Joana. The mecha knightess would've gone with her lord to see Pyrrha, but Jaune insisted on him going by himself. Shortly after, Joana caught sight of Talos, who Pyrrha didn't want to see at the moment.
"Your dance exceeds my expectations somewhat." Joana said as she allowed Talos to lead her.
"From your mouth, that was a compliment." Talos said, smiling through his glowing blue eyes.
"Perhaps you could grace me with your visage." Joana said with slight hope in her voice.
"What do you mean?" Talos asked his dance partner.
"I would be very delighted to see your face." Joana said.
"This is my face." Talos replied, earning a blanched look from the knightess.
"Please, master Talos. I would appreciate if you did not jest." Joana said, mildly miffed at being denied.
"I'm not joking." Talos replied as he took his hand that was entwined with Joana's mecha-gauntleted hands to tap his helmet, "This is not a helmet, this is my face."
"But…that makes no sense." Joana said in confusion.
"I'm not a warrior clad in armor," Talos said simply, "I'm a metal golem forged into the shape of an armor-clad warrior."
"Oh." Joana said sounding a little disappointed.
"Disappointed that I don't have a human face?" Talos asked.
"Perhaps a little. Thankfully that does not affect your dancing prowess." Joana said, visibly cheered up. During this conversation, the two never stopped dancing.
"Thank you." Talos said, taking the compliment. Then he looked over Joana to see Pyrrha returning. Followed by Jaune, shortly. "Don't look back, but our Drivers have returned." Talos said as he spun so Joana could get a look.
"So, they have." Joana said, noting the looks on their faces, "Should we see if everything is alright with them?"
"In case you haven't noticed, Pyrrha and I aren't exactly in tune with some of our views." Talos pointed out.
"I must ask, have you even tried to understand Lady Nikos' views?" Joana asked, "While I do not always agree with milord's opinions, I try to understand him. As difficult as it may be."
"…You have a point." Talos admitted, "So then, I shall go to Pyrrha, and you will deal with your lord."
"Sounds acceptable. Well then, until we meet again, master Talos." Joana said, before the two Blades separated to go to their Drivers.
On an upper floor of the ballroom, Yang, finished with her duties as a receptionist, looked down on the people.
"You done dancing?" Dragunov asked from next to her.
"Awww...you want another one?" the blonde teased her Blade.
"No thanks." Dragunov said, not falling for the tease
"You're boring right now, you know that." Yang mock complained, "I'm sure a lot of ladies might fall for you if you actually tried."
"I'm not you" Dragunov said with a meaningful look.
"What's that supposed to mean!?" Yang did not like that look at all.
Before Dragunov could open his mouth, Ruby arrived alongside Roze. "Hey, guys! What's going on?" Ruby asked, noting how Yang was looking at her Blade.
"Just some friendly banter," Dragunov said, before glancing at his Driver smugly, "Right?"
"...Right." Yang grumbled, not wanting to drag this out.
"I think we all needed this." Roze then commented in an attempt to redirect Yang's thought patterns.
It seemed to have worked, seeing as Yang visibly brightened up. "Yeah. We really did." Yang said, looking at all the party goers.
"And you did great job planning it sis." Ruby complimented.
"Awww, thanks." Yang said, before dragging Ruby into a one-armed hug by the girl's neck. Which made the little red reaper struggle comically. "Wasn't all me though, Weiss did a lot too. Not to mention Dahlia putting up that ice sculpture." Yang then said, causing the four to look for their white-haired team mate. They saw her sitting alone, until Neptune came to her with an awkward look. After the blue haired boy said something that the others couldn't hear, Weiss patted a seat next to her.
"Tomorrow it's back to work for us." Roze then said, earning two sighs.
"What can you do?" Dragunov shrugged.
"Come on guys, I'm sure we can handle anything thrown at us." Ruby said cheerfully. And then they heard laughter from below, causing the four pairs of eyes to peer over.
"...That too?" Roze questioned at the bizzarre sight.
"Why is Joana allowing this madness?" Dragunov said wanting to kill that sight with fire.
Down below people were parting out of Jaune's way, laughing at him, as he finally reached Pyrrha.
The Mistral Champion turned around to see Jaune wearing a dress. "Jaune?"
"Eh. A promise is a promise." Jaune said with a shrug and an awkward smile.
Talos' eye twitched at the sight, "Joana, why did you allow this?"
The knightess looked down, completely torn about how she should feel about this. "I-I had no choice," the knight Blade finally said.
As this happened, Pyrrha finally burst into a full-on laughter despite her best efforts to reign it in. "Jaune you didn't have to." Pyrrha managed to say.
"Hey, an Arc never goes back on his word." Jaune said as he offered his hand, "Now are you just going to stand there laughing all night, or will you dance with me?"
"I would love to dance." Pyrrha said happily as she took the offered hand. And then Jaune practically swooped her.
Not too far away, Nora, Ren and their Blades saw what was happening. "Ren. This. IS. HAPPENING!" Nora cheered loudly, earning a smile from her childhood friend.
"What is happening?" Electra asked in confusion.
However, instead of answering, Nora grabbed Ren and took him to the dance floor. The Blades joining them.
(Play Shine)
Team JNPR then took on their positions in an arrow shape. Jaune at the front, with Pyrrha and Joana on either side of him. Behind Pyrrha was Ren, and behind him was Otohime. Behind Joana were Nora and Electra. The four Drivers and three Blades were doing their own dance number.
It really was amazing how in sync they were. No one was sure what to be more amazed about though. Whether it's Jaune being so confident about this despite his apparell, Ren's smooth movements. Or maybe it's the fact that Nora seemed so in control of herself despite being an infinite well of energy. Or perhaps it's the cute little Electra easily keeping up with them without missing a single beat. But alot of guys were mesmerized by Otohime who had her eyes closed at the moment, and yet she was just as much in sync as everyone else. Such graceful movement, her hair flowing neatly according to her movements. Even the water Blade's yukata seemed to be in tune with the music with the way it flapped with her movements. At that moment, many thought that the most beautiful woman in the world was right in front of them. But perhaps the strangest thing was, that Joana was able to move so gracefully herself, despite wearing a mecha-styled armor. Though her movements were accentuated by her blond braid.
Soon enough, Electra glanced at Otohime who was now looking around the ballroom as if searching for something. Soon enough, the beautiful water Blade spotted Dahlia who gave the fellow Blade an okay sign. With that, Otohime winked at Electra, which lit up the electric Blades face. The two pirouetted in the middle of team JNPR's formation. Shortly after, people started looking down as they saw something moving on the floor. It was water, flowing in multiple thin streams towards Otohime and Electra. Speaking of which, Electra made two sticks appear to her hand and started drumming the air with them. Strangely enough, whenever she hit air, a small shockwave of electricity sparked in the spot she hit. First to her right, then to her left, and then on both sides, leading to the center where she focused a concentrated ball of electricity at the tips of the sticks.
As Electra did her electric drum solo, Otohime kept spinning as water gathered around the two Blades. Then suddenly it rose up in multiple pillars, spiraling upwards, until it nearly reached the top of the ceiling. There, the water started gathering into a sphere, which grew bigger as more water flowed into it. "Electra dear, are you ready?" Otohime asked her partner in crime.
"Ready." Electra said happily, holding onto a now basketball sized ball lighting.
"Then launch." With Otohime's command, Electra released the ball lightning into the water sphere above. As soon as the two spheres collided, the two exploded. Water sphere turned into microscopic droplets which lightly rained down, while the electricity dispersed in different shapes before dissipating. After that, the two Blades made a curtsy towards the stunned audience at what was basically electric fireworks.
Just as the two hoped, they were greeted with a thunderous round of applauses.
(End Song)
"We did it, Otohime!" Electra said happily.
"Yes, we did." Otohime replied smiling at the little girl. Well, little in her eyes anyway.
"Yaay!" And the little girl jumped to hug the beauty.
"NO WAIT!" *ZAP*
During this show, Ruby had moved outside. The atmosphere started to make her just a tad uncomfortable. Of course, Roze had gone with her.
"You really don't like these kinds of things, do you?" Roze asked somewhat sadly.
"Well... I wouldn't say I don't like... It's just... so many people in one place make me feel uncomfortable." Ruby admitted with a blush, finding rooftops much more interesting. Especially when she saw movement. "Roze, on the roofs." Ruby quickly said, causing the said Blade to look to where Ruby was looking.
"I see it." Roze replied just as they both saw a person moving out of sight. "Should we investigate?" Roze asked, earning a grin from his Driver.
"You know it." Ruby said, and with that, the two began to move.
The first thing they noticed when they followed the most likely route the mysterious individual took, was the lack of guards in front of the Beacon's CCT tower. When they took a closer look, they found one of the guards knocked out, which prompted Ruby to dial her locker here with Crescent Rose in it. Ozpin had announced that the lockers had been updated with their security. Though it still took some convincing for Ruby to put her baby in there again.
Roze brought out his Blade weapon as Ruby picked up Crescent Rose. Then the two moved inside the tower. "This isn't good." Roze said as he glanced around the hall at the sight of knocked out Atlesian soldiers.
"No, it isn't." Ruby said as she saw from the monitor that the elevator had just arrived at the top floor. "You think that's our culprit?" Ruby said, as she pressed the button to call the elevator back down.
"Most likely." Roze replied, despite knowing that he didn't have to.
As soon as the elevator came back down, the two entered.
Up in the top floor, Cinder was busy planting a virus into the CCT tower. "A party guest is leaving." Sounded through her earpiece, earning a sigh from the woman. "Which one?" Cinder replied, pressing the com-piece in her ear.
"Ironwood." Emerald replied.
"Guess the general's had enough partying for one night." Mercury added in, "Should we stop him?"
As Cinder glanced at the screen, she saw a queen chess-piece appearing on it. "No, we're done here." Cinder replied, as she got up to leave. That is, until she heard the elevator arriving. So, she hid behind the monitor desk she had been working with. Then she heard two sets of footsteps coming in.
"Hello?" One of them called out, Cinder recognized the girl as that Ruby girl.
"Ruby, you don't call out to a possibly hidden enemy." Cinder barely heard the voice of the other one. Ruby's living weapon.
"This will be easy." Cinder thought as she slowly rose from her hiding spot.
As soon as Ruby and Roze saw the unknown black-haired woman, the two pointed their weapons at her.
"You know this isn't a masquerade." Ruby said innocently.
Roze thankfully realized what Ruby was going for, so he played along, "So why don't you take that-" He was interrupted by the intruder emptying a vial of sand into the air which soon turned into sharp pieces of glass and was sent at them.
However, both Ruby and Roze spun their respective scythes to block the attack before Ruby charged in with an overhead swing.
The intruder avoided the attack, but then her eyes turned to Roze who opted to shoot. The intruder smirked before bringing out her hand to block the dust bullet. However, when the shot impacted her palm, it didn't disintegrate, and instead dealt damage to her aura. Also pushing her palm back, surprising the intruder greatly.
Then Ruby tried shooting too, but the intruder was able to block the dust shots this time.
Cinder didn't understand why Roze's dust bullets didn't disintegrate, while Ruby's did.
"Ruby, switch with me." Roze quickly said, noting that his ether based shots weren't affected by whatever this intruder did.
"Okay." Ruby replied, and the two traded scythes, with Roze linking with Ruby.
"What the heck is that link?" Cinder thought as she made glass bow appear and fired an arrow to it, but the arrow simply phased through it harmlessly. As Cinder stared in shock at the arrow not doing anything, Roze had closed in.
"Did you think our link would be that easy to sever?" Roze asked, sounding highly offended, before slashing the intruder with Crescent Rose.
As the intruder stumbled from the attack, Ruby moved in with Roze's scythe and struck. Only hitting once before the intruder realized to take distance.
"They were supposed to be easy!" Cinder screamed in her head, but she only gritted her teeth outwardly.
Then, something happened, that wasn't supposed to be possible. Wind picked up around Cinder, making blocked glass and some leftover sand to fly around her. Before she covered her eyes, she noticed that Roze was waving his hand in a circle. "That thing can use wind!?"
Ruby had to hold her skirt down with the way the wind was blowing, but just then the wind stopped. And Ruby saw an opening to strike at the intruder, but just then the elevator opened, giving entrance to Ironwood who had his gun ready. The Blade and Driver glanced at the general, before turning to the intruder. Or the spot she used to be at.
Roze ran towards the windows to look down, but he didn't see anyone out there anymore. "Drat, I wish Nox had been with us." the rose themed Blade said as he banged the glass once.
Back at the party, Cinder had used her stolen maiden powers to switch her cat-suit into a black dress and losing the mask. Then she entered the ballroom with no eye-witnesses to notice her late arrival.
Shortly after, two Atlesian soldiers came in to look around the ballroom. The general had managed to inform them about the intruder being a black-haired woman with a black cat-suit. But they didn't see anyone like that anymore.
Emerald and Mercury were currently mock dancing. Then Emerald felt a tap on her shoulder. The mint haired teen turned around to see Cinder in her dress. "Mind if I cut in?" Cinder asked kindly, which Emerald obliged to all too happily.
With that, Cinder took Emerald's place as Mercury's dance partner. "Sooo. How was your night?" Mercury asked conversationally.
"A little more...stimulating than I expected, but enjoyable," Cinder replied. Reigning in her temper at being nearly bested. She was taken by surprise by that living weapon's abilities, but still...
"Should we be worried?" Mercury then asked.
"Hardly." Cinder replied in amusement, "They will be scratching their heads long after we've got what we came for." Besides, no one saw her enter the ballroom. Everyone is too busy dancing.
What Cinder didn't realize was that a lone amber eye with a star shaped pupil was trained on her ever since the door to the ballroom opened. And the owner of the said eye was asking questions in his head. Questions that had the potential to jeopardize her plans.
"Nox." Blake said, earning her Blade's attention, "Why are you standing here?" The cat faunus had been wondering where her loyal Blade had disappeared to and here he was by the doors.
"I did not wish to get in your way, my lady." Nox showed on his scroll. "Also, I fear that my tolerance for idiotic boys has run out." The ninja looked down on the last one.
Blake shook her head in amusement. "Okay then." the cat faunus couldn't bring herself to complain about Nox's dislike of Sun. "But thank you for the dance." Blake then said with a smile towards her partner.
"Your joy is my pleasure, my lady." Nox showed on his scroll, bowing as he did. The dark ninja decided to forget what he saw a mere moment ago...for now.
AN: Oh yes, you people are probably wondering how much Nox witnessing Cinder's late arrival will affect on things.
Now, just to be clear on a few things. While the Blades do need Dust now to keep themselves powered up, the energy they wield is still ether. Which is what makes up Roze's ammo.
Next up, the Electric Fireworks. The conditions for that are as follows:
Electric mastery Lv 1: Electra-Check
Focus: Lv 1: Electra-Check
Water mastery Lv 1: Otohime-Check
As for Roze using wind... well, that's his Wind mastery being used in combat. However, there are some problems with using their field skills which I will elaborate on later.
