Magnus's first visit to the shop is loud and unexpected. His second and subsequent visits are just as loud. But less of a sneak attack. Magnus comes into the shop every day of his week in Neverwinter. When Angus is working he'll stay in there for ages, almost the full shift on Wednesday. On the plus side Taako refrains from coming in (in disguise) at the same time Magnus is in there.
Magnus makes a new nemesis in Brenda like the third time he comes in, but he makes a new bestie everyday almost to make up for it. The guy is just so friendly when he's not armed. Magnus says hello and is over the top polite and hospitable. He learns the staff's names. He Chats both to them and customers. He'll cover strangers' orders if they come into the shop looking sad. And pay like four silvers worth of pay it forward post it notes wall at a time.
Sometimes he'll leave. Go hang out with Krav, one of the other birds or Bob Boobs (that name is sticking) for a bit. Then come back. Sometimes with them in tow.
Not Takko yet. Which when Angus thinks about it is odd.
Magnus will also walk up and down outside, or around the block drink and food in hand; and boom out things like "Oh wow, have you tried these cheese buns?" and "mm Cosies makes the best hot chocolate I've ever had!" despite it absolutely not being a paid partnership.
Gora'thien the Blood-Soaked challenges him to battle at least four times, and Magnus happily engages with him at least twice outside in the yard. Angus isn't sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing. They knocked each other about until both were very low on HP. The second fight only ended because Gora'thien the Blood-Soaked was called back inside to help finish icing the fairy cakes for the cream teas.
Most of the time Magnus spends in the shop is, actually, in the line. He'll order a cake or a takeaway juice and pay; then join the back of the queue just to keep circling and catching up with Angus. Round and Around. Just keeps joining the queue. Angus only sees him sit down twice the whole time he's there.
"Wait. This place has tea?" he realises one midmorning, mid slurp of a milkshake.
"Sir… it's a tea shop." Dale informs him. "We actually have like, sixty-seven different sorts."
"only sixty-seven?"
"Plus, two chai latte flavours."
"nice."
"nice."
They high five over the counter. (And Dale will later realise he flunked his roll and will have to cast healing-word on his own wrist.)
"I thought you didn't like tea. You said tea was for chumps?" Angus asked.
"I love tea. The stuff Merle makes however? Nah. Not a fan. It's just hot leaf water." Magnus says. "Coffee though, is shit. That is most definitely for chumps."
"What about Decaf?" a halfling, (Miss Ada, another regular) behind him in line asks.
"For the Chumpish of chumps. It's like coffee but useless." Magnus says. "oh, hey I'm Magnus by the way. Ango's friend. what you having-? Here. Let me buy you a chump drink."
"We don't- we don't serve or have chump coffee, man!" Dale complains. Even as Magnus is handing him his coins.
"Sir, you've had like six lattes in two days." Angus frowns. "Lattes are coffee!"
"Yeah but you make the hearts on top of them. And they're the best bit!" Magnus grins, and with a wave turns and head's back out.
Angus can only facepalm. Then spends all afternoon making what becomes known as Chump Coffee Special. And all the while, praying to Istus that this doesn't become a rumoured "secret menu" thing; like Fantasy Starbucks employees must deal with.
