The south pole – the absolute center of the Antarctic and the coldest place on Earth. During the summer time, the temperature ranged in the negative twenties, and that was during the daylight weeks. At the nightly weeks, the cold could reach fifty below zero, which would take place in four days. That was sufficient motivation for them to work faster.
For nearly a month, a large expedition team of over one hundred men had set up camp, digging through the glacial terrain or hours on end until, finally, they found something.
A helicopter with a familiar flew over the exploration camp, touching down on the helipad on the border where two armored knights stood attentively, flanking the former Plumber, Phil. When the chopper had lander, Enoch and his squire, Fina, stepped out into the harsh artic winds. While Enoch and Phil were bundled up against the freezing temperatures, Fina's gave off its own heatwaves, melting the snow underfoot.
"You found it?" Enoch asked Phil, getting straight to business.
"Right this way, my lord," said Phil, gesturing them to follow.
The former Plumber led them away from the camp until they reached a whole in the icy ground and down the ramp that had constructed to take them down to the lower levels. Enoch and Phil removed their hoods once they were out of the frosted winds. Phil let them through a tunnel of pure ice that was still being hollowed out by dozens of Forever Knights, stabling the ceiling with metallic support beams. They soon reached the end of the tunnel that opened up into a round chamber where a single pillar of ice was left alone in the center. A monolithic shadow could be faintly seen through the ice, indicating that there was something was in the ice. Something alive, if heartbeats and brainwave monitors attached to the block were accurate.
Enoch approached the ice pillar, looking it over like an artist admiring a sculpture.
"Finally, after all this searching," said Enoch, then he turned to Fina. "Wake him up."
"What the magic word?" said Fina, hands on her hips.
Enoch touched his mask, sighing exasperatedly, and answered, "Please."
"Now was that so hard?" Fina taunted as she climbed the ladder beside the ice slab.
"Are you sure this is a good idea?" asked Phil, concerned. "I've run into this guy before. He's one off the most dangerous people I've ever met. Scratch that – the most dangerous person I've ever met."
"And that's exactly why we want him," said Enoch. "Fina's power is impressive, but unrefined. It will be a while before she truly masters her abilities. But this person – this thing – is the closest to have ever come to defeating Tennyson and the Omnitrix. With his power combined with Fina's, our enemies will be no match."
Fina reached the last step of the ladder, at the very top of the ice slab. The blonde clone removed her glove and reached out to touch the ice with her bare hand. The ice instantly melted under her fingertips, steam wafting in the air. When she pulled back, her golden eyes met furious-red.
"Wakey-Wakey, Vilgax," said Fina tauntingly. "It's time to take out Tennyson and his green sidekick – For good."
North of the American border, in the land of maple syrup and Mounties, was the famous Niagara Fall, one of the seven natural wonders of Earth. At the basin of the Fall was a little tour boat carrying dozens of tourists in yellow ponchos to protect them from the powerful spray of the waterfall. And who else would be on the tour but the Tennysons.
Max and Gwen stood at the railing, admiring the raging falls as they sailed by.
"How can you not admire the beauty and raw power of nature?" said Max serenely.
"I don't know; ask them," said Gwen, pointing over her shoulder.
Ben and Trixie were sitting in the back corner of the tour boat; the former was obsessively fiddling with the Omnitrix while the latter was typing away at Gwen's laptop. After a few more turns of the Omnitrix's faceplate, Ben shook his head and said, "Nothing."
"All right," said Trixie, writing down her findings. "Try right, left, left, right, left, right, right, left."
"Okay," said Ben, turning the dial at first but paused. "Wait, is that your left or my left?"
"Seriously?" Trixie gave him a blank stare.
"Would you two please pay attention to something other than that watch?" said Max.
"This takes priority, Maxwell," said Trixie, her eyes glued to the screen. "After the confrontation with Cetanu and Dr. Animo, I realized how little we can actually control the Omnitrix. With my memories as hazy as they are, the best course of action would be trial and error."
"But there has to be, like, a billion command combinations on that thing," Gwen argued.
"What's your point?" said Ben.
"Trixie, don't you want to see the Falls," said Gwen. "They're amazing."
"If I wanted to see running water, I'd watch a faucet," said Trixie uncaringly. "Try right, left, left, right, left, right, left, right."
Gwen rolled her eyes, then she and Max went back to watching the falls.
Ben had just completed the latest sequence that Trixie had given him when the Omnitrix's body suddenly blinked and raised faceplate turned on its own, cycling between the various aliens he had unlocked so far. Ben let out a startled yelp, which prompted Trixie to set the laptop aside and pounced to Ben's side.
"What happened?" asked Trixie, concerned.
"I don't know," said Ben. "I just did what you told me and this started happening."
"Hmm…why does this look familiar?" Trixie hummed thoughtfully.
"Hey, this isn't gonna do anything weird, right?" asked Ben. "Like it's not gonna make me permanently change into Pesky Dust – "
There was a flash of light that nearly blinded Trixie. Next thing she knew, Pesky Dust was sitting on the bench in Ben's poncho.
"Woah! What happened? I-I never even touched it!" said Pesky Dust, astonished. "Unless... Maybe now I don't have to... Uh…Grey Matter!"
Another flash of light and Ben's poncho lay on the bench with a wiggly little lump in it.
"Diamondhead!"
A petrosapien whose back spikes tore holes through the coat.
"Cool! This rocks!"
Fasttrack appears after a silent command.
"This is the best thing that has ever happened!" Fasttrack cheered. "But how am I doing it?"
"You must have unlocked the Omnitrix's master control," said Trixie, impressed as she watched Ben transform into Heatblast. "Do you know what this means?"
"Uh, yeah!" Heatblast transformed into Gutrot. "It means I can go alien just by thinking about it."
While Ben and Trixie were having fun with the master control, a tourist with a camera turned to Max.
"Excuse me, would you mind taking a picture of me and my wife –?"
His sentence trailed off as a flash of went off behind Max and Gwen, drawing his attention to the Polar Manzardill puffing out a breath of frosted breath. As to be expected, the tourist panicked at his first alien, dropping his camera and back up to the railing. The man slips and falls over into the water. The rushing waterfall combined with the strong currents made it impossible for the man to keep his head above water as he was carried down the stream.
"Uh, Benjamin," said Trixie, feeling a little responsible.
"I know, I know, I'm on it," said Arctiguana.
Arctiguana threw off the poncho and jumped into the drink. It took him only a few seconds to grab the tourist and jumped out of the water…where he then transformed into Jetray. The Aerophibian circled around the tour boat just to show off, even dipped the man's feet into the water before carrying him higher.
"…Did Ben just go from Arctiguana to Jetray?" Gwen asked her grandfather, dumbfounded.
"Yeah...but that's impossible," said Max, equally stunned.
"Not anymore!" Jetray cheered from above.
"I-I don't mean to be ungrateful," said the tourist, looking a little green, "but - I think I'm gonna be sick."
"Oh, right, sorry," Jetray apologized before setting him down with his wife.
Back at the Arctic circle, Enoch and Phil were in deep discussion on how they would safely extricate Vilgax rom his frozen tomb. Meanwhile, Fina was still at the top of the ladder, meeting the warlord's blazing-red eyes with a mocking smirk.
"So you're the legendary Vilgax, huh?" Fina taunted. "You're supposed to be the toughest freak in the galaxy. You look more like a popsicle to me."
What the blonde clone failed to consider was that Vilgax had already regained consciousness and that insulting him was probably not the best idea. The alien warlord flexed his might under the ice, shattering it like glass. He balled his claws into a fist and uppercut Fina under her chin, throwing her off the ladder and at Enoch and Phil's feet. As Vilgax rose to his full intimidating height, the Forever Knights fled out of the tunnel in a panic, including Phil. Only Enoch remained where he stood, observing Vilgax in fascination.
"...Underestimating me is a grave mistake," Vilgax said threateningly as the pins in his arms recede, increasing his arms' muscle mass. "The last you'll EVER MAKE!"
As Fina picked herself up off the ground, Vilgax picked up a large drilling machine that had been used to clear the tunnel as if it weighed nothing. The alien warlord threw the machine across the chamber. Fina threw herself out of the way while Enoch casually took two steps back. The machine smashed through one of the metallic support beams, causing the ceiling to shudder.
Her eyes glinting dangerous, Fina swiped her arm and summoned a wave of crystal spikes at Vilgax, who was charging heavy-footed in her direction. Vilgax effortlessly smashed through the crystals and ran up to Fina, grabbing her by the face before launching into the ceiling. They crashed through the roof, causing the cavern below them collapse with Enoch still inside. The leader of Forever Knight was unconcerned and casually walked away as everything fell apart around him.
Vilgax and Fina break out to the surface and land in the middle of the research base where raises the squirming clone in the air. He threw Fina like a baseball into the nearest building, tearing through the steel walls and causing several Forever Knights to run out screaming. Vilgax watched the hole in the wall suspiciously. Then a golden blur zipped out of blur and between his legs, only to realize a second too late that Fina had appeared behind him. With another glint in her golden eyes, Fina kicked Vilgax in the backside, sending him flying into the same building he tossed her.
But Vilgax shrugged it off and swung his arm behind him, slapping Fina across the face and sending her sliding face down in the snow. Fina pushed herself up by her elbows, her eyes glinting again, and flipped over to throw a fireball at Vilgax's face. The alien overlord, crossed his arms and tanked the blast with minimal effort as the snow around him melted to the heat.
"We just saved your ugly squid butt, you know that?" Fina snapped. "You should be grateful!"
Vilgax owes allegiance to no one!" said Vilgax threateningly. "Especially not some Earthling child with…the powers of the Omnitrix?" He narrowed his eyes, inspecting the girl critically. "Now that I have a better look…you do resemble the girl with Tennyson."
"It's more than just a resemblance." Enoch appeared, unharmed, stopping a short distance from Vilgax. "What you see is a recreation of the Omnitrix's avatar using the technology available to us. While not a perfect copy, you cannot deny her potential."
Vilgax appraised the masked man carefully and asked, "Who are you, human?"
"I am Lord Enoch of the Forever Knights," said Enoch with a graceful bow. "And you have already met our prized Infinitrix."
"I prefer Fina," said Fina, standing up.
"You may not be aware of it, Lord Vilgax," said Enoch respectfully, "but we share a mutual enemy: Max Tennyson and his brood."
"I find that hard to believe," said Vilgax, eyeing Phil, who was hiding behind one of the buildings, "considering the company you keep."
"Mr. Billings has as much reason to despise the Tennysons as you do, my lord," said Enoch. "And we have a saying here on Earth: the enemy of my enemy is my ally."
Vilgax hummed thoughtfully for a moment, then said, "You seem like a man with many resources, Enoch. You could prove useful to me."
"I live to serve, Lord Vilgax," said Enoch with another bow.
"Speak for yourself," Fina grumbled under her breath.
Back in Canada, after the eventful experience at Niagara Falls, the Tennysons went back to the Rust Bucket for some quiet time. Max and Gwen were sitting at a nearby picnic table, getting ready to enjoy a bowl of cool ice cream to stave off the summer heat…when a chilly mist passed over Gwen's bowl and her soft serve turned hard as a rock.
"Ben!" Gwen yelled at Arctiguana, who was cackling from a low hanging branch. "You've been going alien for hours! Give it a rest, dweeb!"
"No way!" said Arctiguana gleefully, jumping down to the ground next to Trixie, who was eagerly tapping away at Gwen's laptop. "Now that I can stay alien for as long as I want, it's time to cash in! Check out the green I made making snow cones for tourist."
He held up a wad of cash and rained it over Gwen's head.
"You know, I never thought I'd say this," Gwen grimaced, "but I'd rather see your normal jerky face for a change."
"Gwen's right, Ben," said Max sternly. "Just because you can be an alien all the time, doesn't mean you should be an alien all the time. We still don't know if there are any hidden consequences. Isn't that right, Trixie?"
"Normally, I would agree with you, Maxwell," said Trixie, closing the laptop and tucking it under her arm. "But the benefits of the Master Control system can't be ignored. With a little more work, we might be able to discover just how many aliens are stored inside, and could potentially unlock them at will. Plus, having an alien taxi in handy. Benjamin, a need a lift to the tech store – in New York."
One flash of green light later, and Trixie was sitting piggyback on Fasttrack.
"You heard the lady, grandpa," said Fasttrack, grinning. "Back in a millisecond!"
And just like that, the two of them took off in a blur of blue and green.
Max sighed exasperatedly, resting his head on his fist, and said, "So glad we had this chat."
Back at the Forever Knight's arctic research base, Fina sat grumpily on the examination table as Vilgax looked her over with a strange device that device that looked like a handheld x-ray, but on a biological level. Enoch was standing patiently on the sidelines while Phil was huddling up for warmth outside, to scared to be in the same room as their squid-faced ally.
"Interesting," Vilgax hummed. "As you said, it's not a perfect match, but you do possess the ability to remotely merge with the Omnitrix's DNA storage, just like young Tennyson and his sidekick."
"Yeah. Thanks for the lesson, 'Professor'," Fina scoffed. "So when do I 'merge' my foot with Trixie's face?"
"After we remove the Omnitrix," said Vilgax.
"If I may, Lord Vilgax," said Enoch. "We have attempted to take the Omnitrix to no avail. That was reason why Fina was created in the first place."
"Thanks for reminding me that I'm plan B," Fina grumbled.
"I have tried as well," Vilgax admitted. "But with my expertise, and the DNA this one shares with them" – he gestured to Fina – "we can now succeed."
"Number one, I have a name – it's Fina!" the blonde clone snapped, standing on the table. "And number two, I couldn't care less about that stupid watch! All I want is to show Trixie who's the real deal and who's the fake."
"Which you stand a far better chance of achieving if Tennyson is not wearing the Omnitrix," replied calmly.
"So what're we waiting for?" asked Fina impatiently.
"Patience," said Vilgax. "We will hunt them down once we have tracked their location – "
At that precise moment, the door opened and a Forever Knight soldier dashed into the room, saluting to Enoch.
"Lord Enoch, we have located the targets," said the Knight. "They are at Niagara Falls on the Canadian border."
"Well, Lord Vilgax," said Enoch enticingly, "shall we begin the hunt?"
Standing on the Rainbow Bridge overlooking the Niagara, Max is readying a polaroid camera (instead of using a smartphone like normal people.) Gwen stands by the railing, taking in the view. She didn't notice Pesky Dust hovering overhead, giggling mischievously. Right as Max was about to snap a shot of Gwen, Pesky Dust dropped a cloud of powder on his cousin's head and Max instead took a picture of –
Gwen sleeping on the ground, snoring and drooling, with Pesky Dust cackling in the background.
All four Tennysons in a normal picture in front of the Falls –
Until Ben transforms into Rath giving the peace sign –
Then into Gutrot, whose foul stench causes everyone to plug their noses –
Arctiguana breathing into the lens, causing it to frost over –
Gray Matter was crawling on the camera while the others looked annoyed in the background –
Gwen in the park smiling with an ice cream cone in hand –
Heatblast popping up behind his cousin, causing the cone to melt –
Ben pointing and laughing at Gwen's misery –
Ben getting his comeuppance with a levitation spell –
After a long and exhausting afternoon (mostly for Gwen), Max took his grandchildren on a cable car ride over the Horseshoe Falls, the largest of the three waterfalls that make up the Niagara. Of course, only Max and Gwen seemed to be taking in the sights – Trixie has had her eyes glued on the laptop all day and Ben had been shifting between aliens nonstop.
" - As you look below, you'll see a steel barge that has been marooned in the upper rapids since 1918," the automated tour guide announced.
But naturally, their scenic tour was ruined by the appearance of Diamondhead, who was making a disgusting noise in the back of his throat.
"What are you doing?" asked Gwen, knowing she would only regret it.
"Science experiment," said Diamondhead. "I'm trying to figure out which alien can hock the best loogie."
Gwen made a disgusted grimace as Ben switched to Heatblast. The Pyronite made another gross noise and spat out a mini fireball into the water, watching it extinguish as a plume of smoke.
"Definitely Heatblast," he said proudly.
"I support your testing of the Master Control," said Trixie, grimacing, "but even I think that's disgusting."
Right at that time, another cable car was passing them and, wouldn't you know it, the same couple from the boat tour was on it. They were naturally slack-jawed at the six-foot-tall magma man slurping his own flaming loogie back into his mouth, having the decency to look embarrassed.
"I don't know him," Gwen told them, hoping they wouldn't associate her with the pyrokinetic spitter.
"But we do!"
Heatblast and the Tennysons spin around at the call, understanding the familiarity of the voice. Fina was leaning hanging over the edge of the roof behind Trixie, her golden hair billowing in the window. Trixie was unprepared to defend herself as her dark-skinned doppelganger grabbed her by the scalp and dragged her to the roof, making the green-haired girl drop the laptop out of the car and into the water.
"Trixie!" cried Heatblast.
On the roof, Trixie struggled fruitlessly to escape before Fina pulled one arm behind her back and locked Trixie in a chokehold.
"Hey, sis, long time no see," said Fina mockingly.
"Infinitrix," Trixie grunted. "I should've known it was only a matter of time before you came after us again."
"What can I say? Gotta keep family close," said Fina.
As the blonde clone dragged the original to the middle of the roof, a column of fire melted through metal ceiling and Heatblast jumped up, glaring at Fina from the other side.
"Fina, right?" asked Heatblast. "From Mexico? Lemme guess: Enoch and his Forever stooges are waiting for us, am I right?"
"No, they decided to sit this one out," said Fina, acting like she held all the cards. "But I made a new friend. One who's just dying to meet you."
"Oh yeah, who?" Heatblast questioned.
As if waiting for his cue, the cable car rattled as something large and heavy landed on the roof behind Heatblast. The Pyronite turned and gasped in terror as he found himself staring up into the furious eyes of his greatest enemy: Vilgax.
"Tennyson…," Vilgax growled.
"No way…," murmured Heatblast, stunned.
"You teamed up with Vilgax?!" Trixie screamed at her twin.
"I know; scary, right?" said Fina, cackling in amusement.
Heatblast was frozen by his mortal enemy's appearance that he did nothing to save himself as Vilgax grabbed him with one hand and lifted him into the air like a doll. The Pyronite flailed uselessly until Vilgax touched the Omnitrix emblem on his chest, forcing Ben to revert to his natural form.
"I had expected you to put up more of a fight," said Vilgax. "Pity."
"Vilgax and the Forever Knights?" said Ben, still wrapping his mind around the concept. "Working together?"
"Don't you already have children, Vilgax?" said Max from inside the car. "Now you're taking other villains' kids?"
"Unlike my other children, this one is useful," Vilgax retorted. "Infinitrix, once the containment field neutralizes the Omnitrix, grab it."
"I keep tell you, my name is – " Fina started to complain when a flash of green light brought her attention to Vilgax's hand. "Hey, where'd he go?"
Vilgax opened his claw, surprised to find it empty. He starts looking around when he noticed something small buzzing around his head. It didn't take long for him to realize that Ben had transformed into Nanomech – a new alien that Vilgax had never seen before. He claps his claws in the air, trying to squash the annoying pest, but Nanomech was just barely slipping through his fingers.
"You can't escape me forever!" snarled Vilgax.
Nanohmech flew above Vilgax's head where he exploded in another flash of light and transformed into Diamondhead. The Petrosapien fell on the alien overlord and socked him in the tentacles. Vilgax is nearly thrown off the cable car, but he managed to dig his claws in the roof before he went over.
"Guess again!" shouted Diamondhead.
"Since when can he do that?" asked Fina, surprised.
"Activate Nosedeenian sequence!"
In her distraction, Fina didn't realize that Trixie had transformed until the original avatar released several hundred volts of electricity from her body, forcing the blonde clone to release her. While Fina stumbled, Trixie spun around and drove an electrified fist into the blonde's stomach, making her double over gasping for breath. Trixie followed up with a haymaker to the face, throwing Fina facedown. Infuriated by the change in dynamic, Fina flipped around and shot a fireball at the original, but Ben transformed into Fasttrack and moved Trixie out of the way at the last second. Unfortunately, Fina's fireball hit the cable car's arm, causing several off the wheels to fall off.
At the same time, Vilgax had pulled himself back onto the roof and witnessed Ben's transformation again.
"What's this?" he said. "The child's gained new control over the Omnitrix."
Fina's eyes glinted and she suddenly sprang to her feet, zooming up to Trixie faster than she could blink. The dark-skinned doppelganger tackled the original and sent them both careening over the edge. The twin avatars rolled through the air, trying to punch whatever they could reach, when Trixie realized that they were falling toward the metal barge that was caught in the rocks. Thankfully, Jetray swooped in and snatched Trixie away, letting Fina fall alone on the barge, making the metal bend slightly on impact.
"Ooh, that look like it hurt," Jetray hissed inwardly.
"Benjamin," said Trixie, "if you're here, there where is – "
Her question was answered before she could finish; Vilgax elbow dropped on top of the duo and slammed them on the metal barge as Fina got back to her feet. The second impact finally dislodged the barge, causing the four to be swept up in the current.
Meanwhile, Max and Gwen watched the battle helplessly from above when they felt the cable car tilt; more of the arm's wheels fell off, leaving them dangled on one wire.
Back on the barge, Jetray transformed into Rath and threw Vilgax at Fina, crushing the tiny clone under his massive weight. Rath offered a paw to help Trixie up when they heard Gwen's signature shriek. Rath and Trixie looked up and saw the cable car swaying precariously on one wheel.
"Benjamin!" cried Trixie.
"Hop on!" yelled Rath, crouching down to her level.
The green-haired girl wasted no time climbing the Appoplexian's back. Once she firmly secured her arms around his neck, Rath shifted to Fasttrack and jumped off the barge. They swam for the first few meters, but as the Citrakayah started to gain speed, he began treading on the water's surface. They were a short distance away from the cable car when the line finally snapped, sending Max and Gwen plummeting over a hundred feet. Fortunately, Fasttrack transformed into Jetray and swooped into catch the rest of his family before the car hit the water.
But…thanks to the additional weight, the Aerophibian could barely hover more than a few feet above the surface at five miles an hour.
"Oof, grandpa, we need to get you on a diet," said Jetray with a strained groan.
"Hey, this is pure muscle," said Max. "…some of it, at least."
As for the villains, Vilgax crawled to his feet and narrowed his burning eyes, watching the Tennysons flee at a distance.
"After them!" Vilgax commanded.
"We've got other problems, squid face!" shouted Fina, pointing.
Vilgax followed the direction of her finger and his eyes went wide as their barge went flying over the Horseshoe Falls –
It took some effort, but Jetray finally managed to drop Max and Gwen off on a trail path near the Falls; Trixie remained clinging to his back. The Aerophibian took a moment to catch his breath.
"Ha…ha…We're…we're going after Vilgax and Fina," said Jetray, referring to himself and Trixie. "They're after us, so we're gonna be the ones to stop them."
"Ben, you can't beat them both," Gwen argued. "Vilgax destroyed us last time. And you don't have Alien X to bail you out this time."
"And there's Fina," Max added. "She has all of the Omnitrix's powers and she can use them whenever she wants. We barely escaped with our lives last time we fought."
But Jetray wasn't listening; he had already transformed into Fasttrack.
"We know, Maxwell," said Trixie, bbracing herself as the Citrakayah prepared to take off. "But we don't have a choice."
Trixie tapped her heels into Fasttrack's side, signaling that she was ready, and the two of them zoomed down the trail at supersonic speed.
"You think they can win?" Gwen asked her grandfather.
"I don't know," Max answered honestly. "But I might have something that should increase our odds."
At the bottom of the Falls, Vilgax and Fina climb a formation of rocks in the water. Vilgax wiped his face irritably while Fina wrung out her hair dry.
"They got away," Vilgax snarled.
"Slow your sushi roll; we'll find them," said Fina, flipping her hair back. She touched the communication device in her ear and said, "Commander, this is Infinitrix. I need a location on the Tennysons ASAP."
"Yes, ma'am," the knight on the other side responded. Fina heard the clacking of a keyboard before he answered. "Max Tennyson and his granddaughter appear to be headed toward the parking lot. And the other two are…right on top of you?"
Surprised by this bit of information, the villains looked up and spotted Diamondhead and Trixie (in Petrosapien hybrid form) dropping down with their fists swinging. Vilgax and Fina jumped off the rock formation the heroes landed, smashing the stones to pebbles. The villains landed on another formation of rocks and turned to face them, but when the dust cleared, Ben and Trixie were nowhere to be seen -
Max and Gwen burst into the Rust Bucket where the retired Plumer made a beeline for the back of the RV. He pushed away a secret panel on the wall and pressed his hand against an advanced handprint scanner, which granted him access.
"I stashed something away in here that should take care of both Vilgax and Kevin," Max informed his granddaughter.
The scanner slid sideways and two more security doors flew open before revealing a familiar handgun-like weapon.
"The Null Void Projector?!" yelled Gwen in shock. "I thought we left that back in the Plumbers' bunker at Mount Rushmore!"
"I decided it might come in handy again someday," said Max severely, taking the device and arming it. "Unfortunately, I was right."
Fina was riding on her partner's shoulder as Vilgax jumped between the rocks, searching for their quarry. Trixie and Diamondhead flattened themselves against the rocks opposite the direction their enemies were moving. Despite what he had said, Diamondhead knew that a direct attack against both of them would be suicide. They needed to wait patiently for the perfect moment to strike….
"Come out, you chickens!" Fina shouted impatiently. "This is supposed to be a fight, not hide-and-seek!"
"Enough of this foolishness!" growled Vilgax irritably, smashing a rock to vent his frustration. He looked ahead and spotted the Rust Bucket parking on the bridge; he vividly recalled that dilapidated vehicle ramming him through his ship. Just as he thought, Max and Gwen disembarked from it. "The old man and the girl are the key. Once we have them, the children will come to us."
"Hostage situation?" said Fina, grinning. "I love it."
Diamondhead poked his head around the rocks as the villainous duo leapt away, confusing the silicon hero.
Max was standing by the railing, trying to find Ben and Trixie through a pair of binoculars. Gwen was standing a few feet away when she heard heavy footsteps coming from the end of the bridge. A terrified gasp escaped her lips as she turned around and noticed Vilgax towering menacingly with Trixie's blonde twin riding on his shoulder.
"Grandpa, company!" Gwen shrieked.
"When I have the Omnitrix," Vilgax said to Max, clenching his fist, "I shall enjoy tearing you apart, Tennyson!"
"Why wait? Come and get me!" said Max fiercely.
The retired Plumber whipped out the Null-Void Projector and shot a yellow beam over their heads. The beam formed into a rippling portal behind them, slowly sucking the villains inside. But just when Max thought he had succeeded in defeating their greatest enemies, Diamondhead jumped onto the bridge with Trixie struggling to hold on to his shoulder spikes, unable to see past his broad back.
"I've got 'em, Grandpa!" Diamondhead shouted as he ran past.
"Ben, stay back!" Max cried fearfully, but his grandson couldn't hear him.
"What's…happening…?!" Fina screamed, trying to hold on to Vilgax's shoulder. She loses her grip and is sucked inside with a terrified wail.
"The Null Void! No!" howled Vilgax before he, too, was sucked in.
Trixie finally climbed onto Diamondhead's shoulder just in time to see the silicon hero running at the portal. Realizing what it was, Trixie beat her own silicon fist against his head and said, "Benjamin, stop, that's the – "
But her words came too late as Vilgax's hand stretched out of the portal and grabbed Diamondhead by the face, pulling him and Trixie inside with them. Once through, the portal closes with the heroes and villains trapped on the other side.
"Ben! Trixie!" cried Gwen.
Meanwhile, the Null Void portal opened up laterally in a new space, spitting out Fina first, then Vilgax, and finally Diamondhead and Trixie before closing behind them.
"Okay, maybe that wasn't such a good idea," said Diamondhead.
"You think?" said Trixie, leering at him.
Trixie climbed off of the Petrosapien as Fina rose to her feet. The twins raised their fists, but neither of them made the first move, trying to take in their current environment. Even Viglax rose to a kneel as he searched the area, holding Diamondhead to the ground by his head.
They seemed to have been transported to an endless pocket of dimensional space where a blue-purple haze stretched into the distance and long twisting rock formations are frozen in place, forming the terrain they were standing on.
"Where are we?" questioned Fina.
"The Null Void," hissed Vilgax. "An alternate dimension where the galaxy's worst-of-the-worst are banished."
"Sounds about right," said Fina smugly. "I am the baddest-of-the-bad."
"Oh yeah?" said Trixie challenging. "Tell that to them."
She pointed over her twin's shoulder. Vilgax and Fina followed to where Trixie pointed out a squad of strange other-dimensional creature were circling the rocks. They were pale beasts with tentacles like squids, large bat-like wings, and a mouthful of fangs where their face should've been. Just as the heroes and villains noticed these flying monsters, the beasts spotted them in return.
The monster squad flew in and one of them made a dive for Vilgax. Despite wishing otherwise, the alien overlord released his hold on Diamondhead to grab the flying beast before it had a chance to bite his head off. Diamondhead took the opportunity to transform into Fasttrack, snatching up Trixie and speeding away.
"No!" roared Vilgax, slamming the beast on the ground in anger as he watched his prey flee into the distance.
He let out a howl of rage as he jumped into the air and landed on the back of one of the flying beasts. The creature tried to throw him off, but Vilgax dug his claws into the monster's side, threatening to draw blood. But, eventually, the winged beast obediently flies down to Trixie, who was trying to keep the other monsters at bay with a wall of flames. As Vilgax made his approach on his new mount, the other monsters bowed their heads and receded.
"…What was that about?" asked Fina, taking note of the beast's sudden timidness.
"Respect," said Vilgax. "I command it, even here."
"Yeah, well goody for you," Fina scoffed. "What about Trixie and Tennyson?"
The old man will attempt a rescue," said Vilgax. "We must find them and extract the Omnitrix before that, or we'll be trapped in here forever."
Back on Earth, Gwen was sitting outside the Rust Bucket, burying her face into her knees sorrowfully. She couldn't be the thought of know that anyone, even her doofus cousin, was trapped in a prison dimension with the two worst villains in the galaxy. She hoped from the bottom of her heart that they were all right and that Ben didn't do anything stupid –
Gwen's thoughts were interrupted when her grandfather stepped out of the RV, armed with a strange assortment of gadgets including a harness with a what looked a 1930s jetpack strapped to his back, a headset, and an armored glove.
"I'm going in after Ben and Trixie," Max declared. He whipped out the Null Void Project and fired a steadily opening portal in front of him.
"You can't!" cried Gwen, rising quickly to her feet.
"I have to," said Max.
"No, I mean, you're the only one who really knows how to work that thing," Gwen pointed out. "I'll go."
"No, it's too dangerous," said Max firmly, cutting power to the portal before she got any ideas.
"It's our best chance of getting Ben out of there, Grandpa, and you know it," said Gwen in a tone that left no room for argument. Though Max wished otherwise, he knew that Gwen was right and nodded solemnly.
Trixie was glad that she chose Petrosapien DNA, because riding piggyback on a Pyronite riding a flying flaming chunk of rock was never the best idea. Trixie looked back after realizing that not only had the flying beasts increased in numbers, but Vilgax and Fina were riding them like horses. Trixie held out her arm and shot a hailstorm of crystal shards at the monsters while Heatblast circled around the Null Void's environment, and she was able to knock at least two out of the sky. But their lucks quickly ran out as Vilgax's mount suddenly swooped down from above and snatched up Heatblast in its jaws while Trixie is thrown off and fell.
Fortunate, Trixie landed on another flying beast, unintentionally stabbing it with her crystalized hair. The winged monsters attempted to flail her off, but Trixie, in a manner similar to Vilgax, extended her silicon fingers into claws and applied pressure to the beast's side. After a few seconds, the monster became docile, much to Trixie's relief.
The half-Petrospaien girl searched around and spotted Heatblast locked in the jaws of Vilgax's tamed monster like a candle in the darkness; the villains looked particularly smug about it. Thinking quickly, Trixie shot another volley of crystal shards that stabbed the side of Vilgax's mount, which made the beast open its maw with a pained shriek. Trixie kicked her heels into the side of her own mount and commanded it to fly underneath Heatblast. The Pyronite spotted her and transformed into Gray Matter, landing securely on Trixie's shoulder as the Omnitrix's avatar turn and fled.
"You know, this is starting to become more trouble than it's worth!" Fina complained.
"Quit your mewling and go after them!" said Vilgax harshly.
And a new chase had begun.
Trixie commanded her mount to fly alongside the rocks, slipping through holes in the structures to throw off some of the less coordinated monsters. But Vilgax's mount caught up to the quickly, snapping it teeth at the heroes; Trixie ducked her head to avoid it getting chewed off. Gray Matter hopped off Trixie's shoulder, then transformed into Rath and punched the winged beast across the face. Vilgax was sent spiraling with his mount while Rath changed back to Gray Matter and returned to Trixie's side.
Fina came flying in with her own mount and tried to take a bite out of Trixie, but original pulled her mount into a barrel roll to dodge. Once they were upright, Gray Matter transformed into Arctiguana and breathed an icy mist that flash froze the lower half off Fina's monster, causing them to fall out of the sky.
But neither he nor Trixie had any time to celebrate before another winged creature suddenly tackled Trixie off her mount, digging its teeth into Trixie's silicon arm. Arctiguana jumped off and transformed into Buzzshock, landing on the creature's back and zapping it with a million volts of electricity. The Null Void beast collapsed, its body sizzling, and Trixie and Buzzshock landed safely on a nearby rock formation.
Unfortunately, a dozen more of these Null Void monsters were starting to close in on them –
Gwen zipped up her Plumber suit (not even questioning why her grandpa would have one in her size), secured the jet pack, put on the headset, buckled the sci-fi grenades to her belt, and clamped the metal watch on her wrist. The watch didn't tell time, but displayed a grid showing her position. The Null Void Projector was mounted on a tripod, maintaining a steady beam that kept the portal open.
She was ready.
"Your watch is a homing beacon," Max informed her. "As soon as you find Ben and Trixie, you can use it to lead you back to the portal."
"How long do I have?" asked Gwen seriously.
"I can only keep the portal open for ten minutes or so," Max answered, pointing at the gauge on Gwen's watch. "Once this gauge hits the red zone, you need to get out, no matter what."
Before she left, Max handed her a device that resembled an alien handgun.
"What's this for…?" asked Gwen uncertainly.
"Anything that's not Ben or Trixie," Max replied cryptically.
Though still uneasy about carrying a weapon, Gwen holstered it; she was still inexperienced with magic and didn't want to take chances against two major villains.
Gwen carefully stepped through the portal –
And fell over fifty feet with a terrified wail. Luckily, Gwen was able to maintain her wits long enough to activate the jetpack and slowly began to rise back up. She spun around slowly to investigate the new terrain, trying not to tip over and accidentally go flying in a random direction.
"This place looks like it goes on forever," Gwen commented.
"It does, so keep your eyes open," Max responded through the headset. "I'm not even sure what's inside there."
Gwen kept climbing the Null space until she suddenly found herself confronted by a pack of blue-skinned, quadrupedal aliens with a ring of sharp teeth in their slobbering mouths.
The pack locks eyes with the strange fleshy creature that invaded their space and waste no time pouncing on her as a group. Gwen has no chance of flying away as the alien brood latched themselves onto her legs, a few of them fall off the edge into the endless void. The combined weight of the pack started to pull Gwen down and they all started to fall as well.
"Gwen, what is it?!" Max yelled in concern when his granddaughter started screaming out of nowhere.
"I don't know!" shouted Gwen. She pushed a couple off and reached for her pistol, blast a few more in the face. "But they're small, fast, and really annoying!"
"Havoc Beasts! Keep them away from your rocket pack! They'll chew it to bits!"
CRUNCH! That would be the sound of three Havoc Beasts sinking their teeth into her pack.
"Too late!" yelped Gwen.
Gwen leaned forward and increases the boost on her pack, shooting ahead like a rocket. A few managed to hold on while dozens more followed her on the rock formations. Gwen removed one of the grenades from her belt and raised it over her head when she realized…they were following it attentively. Apparently, they were attracted to metal. With that in mind, Gwen threw the grenade away and was relieved that the Havoc Beasts decided to go after it instead of her.
Gwen didn't stick around to watch them blow up – she needed to find Ben and Trixie.
In another part of the Null Void, Trixie landed on a floating rock with Gray Matter holding on to her shoulder. She sensed the Null creatures coming their way and extended her silicon arms into spikes, stabbing them into the stone and climbing to the underside. Neither of them dared so much as breathe as the winged monsters flew over them.
Unfortunately, the mounts carrying Vilgax and Fina landed right on top of them. While Vilgax scoured the area, Fina's eyes glinted and looked around, narrowing suspicious when she stared down. She kicked her mount's sides and commanded it to peer over the edge, but Trixie had already climbed out of sight. She and Gray Matter hanged them, hoping that Fina would give up and leave…when Vilgax suddenly smashed through the rock and sent the pair flying into the void.
Gray Matter shifted into Jetray, grabbing Trixie's underarms, and soared away in whatever direction wasn't there –
Gwen was flying through the twisted terrain, scanning left and right for any sign of Trixie or her doofus cousin, when her grandpa's voice chirped through the headset.
"Gwen, the projector is starting to overheat! I don't know how much longer I can keep the portal open! You have to head back now!"
"I can't leave now!" Gwen argued. "Not without – OOF!"
Without warning, something collided with her from the side and knocked her out of the air, causing her to land roughly on one of the nearby rock formations. Gwen pushed herself, rubbing her tender head with a groan, and looked back to see what hit her. She was both surprised and relieved to see Jetray and Trixie as they were to see her?
"Gwendolyn, you're here!" said Trixie, sounding relieved.
"Boy, am I glad to see you!" said Jetray.
"It's good to see you guys, too, but save the sappiness for later," said Gwen, showing them the beacon on her wrist. "The portal's closing! We have to get out of here. Now!"
But their plans to leave were almost instantly derailed when a cloud of icy mist blew past Gwen, flash freezing her legs and the left side of her body. Fina walked casually up from behind Gwen, leaning against the redhead's frozen shoulder.
"You weren't planning on leaving without saying good-bye, were you?" said Fina tauntingly.
Gwen used her free hand to pull out her pistol and aimed it at Fina's head, but the blonde grabbed the weapon before she could pull the trigger. Fina's eyes glinted and her hand heated up until the pistol overloaded in Gwen's hand, causing her to scream in pain.
"Gwen, what's going on? Gwen!" shouted Max.
"Let her go!" Jetray demanded. "Or I'll - !"
"Or you'll what, Tennyson?" Vilgax appeared behind the heroes, staring them down menacingly from his mount.
Jetray stares at Vilgax and his winged mounted…. He stared at Fina, who was holding her flaming palm up to Gwen's face…. He stared down at Trixie, who nodded morosely in a silent agreement. The duo glided down onto a floating rock and both of them returned to their natural forms, glaring defiantly at the villains.
"Let her go and you can have this stupid Omnitrix," said Ben, raising the device in the air.
"Ben, no!" cried Gwen.
"We have a deal or don't we, Vilgax?" said Ben heated. "My cousin for this stupid watch."
Vilgax turned his gaze on Fina, who smirked victoriously and waled away from Gwen, jumping down onto the floating at the same time as her partner. As the villains made their approach, they didn't see Trixie turning the Omnitrix's dial behind Ben's back. After a few turns in either direction, the Omnitrix's body blinked – the master control program had been reset.
When Vilgax and Fina reached him, Ben stepped forward and glared at the duo, holding out his arm with the Omnitrix. The squid-faced overlord turned to his partner and nodded, giving the silent order. Fina reached behind her back and pulled out a metal cylinder device large enough to fit a person's arm up to their elbow.
"Put the Omnitrix inside," Vilgax ordered.
"Where were you even hiding that?" asked Trixie, having not see Fina carry anything all day.
"Don't ask questions you don't want answers to," Fina replied. "The Omnitrix."
Ben hesitated for a moment, taking one last look at the device that had change his life, and reluctantly stuck his arm in the cylinder. The moment the Omnitrix was inside, it started unleashing an enormous blast of feedback energy in an effort to repel the container. But Fina's eyes glinted again and the dark-skinned doppelganger pushed back harder until Ben's whole hand was inside, locking around his forearm. An excruciating pain traveled up the length of his arm, causing him to scream with tears in his eyes; it felt like his skin was being peeled off by a rusty knife.
A green light lit up on the cylindrical device and Fina suddenly ripped the extraction machine away, setting Ben free. The young hero collapsed on his back; Trixie rushed to his side and helped him into a sitting position. Ben fought back the pain filled tears as he looked at his arm, which was bare for the first time since the summer started.
Fina presented the containment device to Vilgax, who was feeling quite smug.
"At last, the Omnitrix is with its rightful master," said Vilgax.
"Good luck with that," said Ben. "We shorted it out. Good luck trying to figure out the master control now."
"Cracking the control combination is child's play for a master of the Omnitrix," said Vilgax coolly.
"…Oh, forgot about that," muttered Ben.
"And now that you've got what you wanted," said Fina, grinning with excitement as she rounded on her twin, cracking her knuckles. "It's time to settle the score, Trix."
"You know, I'm surprised at you, Fina," said Trixie, acting surprisingly calm despite the situation. "I didn't think so subservient to Vilgax. I suppose I was wrong in thinking you were more willful."
"I'm not subservient to anyone," said Fina, glaring. "We're partners."
"Then why does he get the Omnitrix?" said Trixie, nodding towards Vilgax. That gave Fina pause. "I mean, you were born from my DNA. Why should Vilgax have all the power why you're stuck with a cheap knockoff? You can't even transform. That hardly seems fair."
"Do not speak of things you don't understand, child," Vilgax glared.
"…No, she's right," said Fina after a moment of thought. She rounded on Vilgax. "Why do you get to keep the watch. If anyone deserves the Omnitrix, it's me."
"You?" Vilgax scoffed. "Don't entertain such an absurd notion. The power of the Omnitrix should rightfully – "
But Fina's eye glinted as they surged forward and slammed her knuckles into Vilgax's stomach, making him double over with a startled gasp. While he was down, Fina snatched the containment device and leapt off the rock, landing on her mount flying off in the direction of the portal. Vilgax recovered and hopped on his own mount to pursue the clone. That left Ben and Trixie stranded alone on the floating rock until –
"HEADS UP, YOU TWO!"
Ben and Trixie looked back, surprised and elated. Gwen had broken herself out of the ice and was flying towards them with her jetpack. The redheaded girl held out her arms, picking up Ben and Trixie as she flew over. Fina had built up a sizable lead in the race to the portal, but Vilgax was steadily catching up and the Tennysons weren't too far behind.
"Hey, Fina, what happened to settling the score?!" Trixie called out to her twin. "I'm still alive!"
"I figure leaving you stuck in here with your arch enemy is still pretty sweet...," said Fina amusingly, reaffirming her grip on the containment device. "And if I can use the Omnitrix to take over the Earth, even sweeter!"
Vilgax rose from his mount and bound forward, tackling Fina off her own winged mount. As the villains fell, Fina repeatedly kicked the alien overlord in the face, much to his annoyance.
"I should get the Omnitrix, not you!" Fina snapped. "I was made for it – literally!"
Having quite enough of her tantrum, Vilgax swatted her away, causing Fina to throw the containment device. Vilgax reached out to grab it, but the Tennysons swooped in an intercepted.
"Got it!" shouted Trixie, snatching the device out of the air. "Let's go!"
They Tennysons changed course and flew back towards the portal. Unfortunately, Vilgax and Fina's mounts returned to pick them up. Before the heroes could get too far, Fina eyes glinted and she shot a pair of lasers that hit Gwen's jetpack. The Tennysons let out terrified yelps as they spiraled out of control and crash landed on a twisted rock formation.
The good news was that they were unharmed and they had a shot of reaching the portal if they climbed to the top of the rock formation. The bad news was that Gwen's jetpack was shot and the villains were blocking their path, leering gown at them from their mounts.
"And where do you believe you can go? Back to your miserable dimension?" hissed Vilgax, holding out his claw. "First, the Omnitrix!"
"Psst, get rid of it," Ben whispered to Trixie.
"But your powers – " Trixie started, surprised that Ben would such a suggestion.
"Are nowhere near as important as getting us home," said Ben firmly. "Toss it, now!"
What neither Ben nor Trixie realized was that while they were talking, Gwen held out her hand to the containment device and muttered something under her breath. The device briefly glowed with a purple aura. Then, without warning, Gwen snatched it out of Trixie hand, waving it for all to see.
"You want it?" she said enticingly. "Go get it!"
Gwen tossed the device into the void; Vilgax took the bait and immediately flew after it. Fina watched him go, but instead of following, he turned his attention to Trixie, who met her heated gaze.
"You want me?" Trixie challenge, running off on her own. "Come and get me!"
"Trixie, no!" yelled Ben.
"I know what I'm doing; trust me!" Trixie shouted over her shoulder. "Get to the portal!"
Fina jumps down from her mount and chases after her twin on foot. Ben hesitates to leave her, but Gwen grabbed his arm and dragged him toward the portal. The Tennyson cousin made a brief climb to the peak of the rock formation and stood a small distance away from the portal, which had shrunken down considerably since they arrived. Ben and Gwen jumped and barely slipped through.
Trixie ground her feet to a stop and pivoted around to face Fina, who had formed a Petrosapien sword around her right hand. Trixie's eyes shifted between her copy and the slowly closing portal above them, carefully calculating inside her head.
As Fina lunged forward and stabbed her crystal arm, Trixie expertly jumped over it and stomped on Fina's face, using it as a springboard to leap up to the next level of the rock formation. Trixie jumped from rock to rock, getting closer to the portal while Fina rampage behind her to catch up. When she made it to the peak, Trixie took a literal leap of faith and dived into the portal, managing to slip through at the last second before it closed behind her. This left Fina swinging at empty air as the reality of what happened set it.
"NOOOOOOOOOO!"
Trixie tumbled onto the Rainbow Bridge and was immediately embraced by Max, who was also holding his grandchildren protectively.
"Kids! You're all right!" said Max gratefully.
"Well, mostly all right," said Ben sullenly, sighing as he stared at his bare arm.
"Listen, Ben, a-about the watch...," Gwen started to say.
"I know, I was cocky and totally abused my powers," said Ben apologetically. "And I'm sorry. Guess that won't happen again, since I'm back to being just plain old Ben."
"Ben, that sacrifice you made for me was pretty impressive," said Gwen, reaching behind her back. "So, here. I have a present for you."
"Ugh, if this is gonna be some dopey hug or something, thanks, but I'll pass," Ben groaned childishly.
"Okay, maybe I'll just keep it for myself," Gwen said playfully as she pulled out the Omnitrix's containment device.
"Whoa, the Omnitrix!" shouted Ben, his jaw dropped as he snatched up the container. "But I saw you throw it away!"
"Maybe you're dumb enough to throw the Omnitrix away, but I'm not," said Gwen smugly.
"Then what did you throw away?" asked Trixie.
Vilgax dived off his mount and grabbed the flying containment device out of the air and landed on a floating rock with a heavy thud. He stared at the container, overwhelming pride filling his chest.
"The Omnitrix is mine!" he howled victoriously…until the container dissolved into a whisp of pink vapors in his hand. "No…. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"
"My sentiments exactly," said Fina, standing on the rocks above him.
"Duplication spell," Gwen explained proudly. "I've been wanting to try it for a while."
"Thanks, Gwen," said Ben gratefully, then he looked over the device, confused. "So uh…how do I get it out?"
"Try sticking your arm back in the slot," Trixie suggested.
Ben looked curiously at the slot where Fina had forced his arm through, this time inserting it willingly. The moment his hand slipped inside, there was a massive surge of green energy and similarly-colored lightning flying everywhere, forcing Max, Gwen, and Trixie to back away. A spiderweb of cracks started to appear on the container until the device was shattered like glass. When the surge died down, the Omnitrix was on its rightful place on Ben's wrist, slightly smoking from the overload.
"You kids did pretty well," said Max. "Vilgax and Fina are gone, we have the Omnitrix back – not bad for a good day's work. Why don't we get some ice cream to celebrate."
"Leave that to me, grandpa," said Ben enthusiastically, activating the Omnitrix. "I can turn into Fasttrack and be back before you can say – "
But when he slammed down the faceplate and exploded in a flash of green light, instead of a super speedy blue alien was –
"Pesky Dust?!" Pesky Dust shrieked. "Oh no! I forgot we zeroed out the master control!"
"Don't worry, we can just look at my notes – " Trixie started to reassure him when a thought struck her and she facepalmed herself. "On no, I dropped the computer when Fina and Vilgax attacked us! It's probably at the bottom of the waterfall by now!"
"Don't sweat it," said Gwen, giggling. "There are only, like, nine hundred and ninety-nine million more combinations for you to try."
"Aw man…," Pesky Dust moaned while his cousin and grandfather laughed.
Vilgax jumped from rock to rock with Fina sitting on his shoulder. The two had set their earlier argument aside, prioritizing their own safety over continuing a pointless feud.
"Well, that sucked," Fina complained. "Now what do we do?"
"Many have escaped the Null Void before," Vilgax informed her. "That implies that there are other entrances. All we must do is find one."
"And then what?" asked Fina, glowering. "Go after Trixie and the Tennysons again. They kicked our respective butts twice now. Even with our team-up."
"…Perhaps we are going about this the wrong way," said Vilgax thoughtfully. "Instead of engaging in prolonged battles with the Tennysons, we should simply go to the source."
"And that would be?" questioned Fina.
"The creator of the Omnitrix himself," said Vilgax sinisterly. "Azmuth."
And that wraps up the second season and sets up a new dynamic for the future of this fic. Vilgax always wanted an Omnitrix and now he has his own, just not the one he expected. These two are permanent partners for the foreseeable future, which leaves the Forever Knights in quite a pinch now that they've lost their greatest weapon.
