Sports Festival

Mad was a rather tame word that could be used to convey one's dislike towards an object or opinion. There was also angry, upset, and furious.

Somehow, none of those words quite worked for how completely and irrationally enraged Mina was right now.

Today was the Sports Festival; a wonderful and spectacular experience for both the competitors, as well as audience. They would watch as the entirety of UA clashed in a race to the top. Normally, the pink girl would be sitting with her family, watching the TV with them. But instead, she was stuck in the middle of an enormous group of students, watching a presentation by All Might himself, and trying to mentally prepare for what's to come.

But the worst part about it?

Izuku wasn't allowed to participate.

What kinda bullshit is this?! Mina was beyond mad; neither of the twins were allowed to compete in the festival. In the back of her mind, she knew why they couldn't participate. The two of them were way past any of the students, not only in their teamwork and skill, but also their raw power. Just one of them had the firepower to take on a large group of the nation's heroes at once. It made sense to keep them away from the competition, for the sake of both the students and the stage itself. But Mina didn't care about what made sense; she just wanted her boyfriend to be by her side.

The pinkette looks to the side, towards the entrance they all came out of. There, Midnight, Class B's teacher, and the twins watched from the sidelines. Izuku looked around until he spotted the girl, offering an encouraging smile. He had told her that he would be watching her and cheering her on the entire festival. There was also lunch, which would occur right before the final event, so they could be together then.

Feeling a little bit better, Mina focused on the starting event; an obstacle race. I got this in the bag. For the past month, she had been training for anything and everything that could possibly be thrown at her. And a race was right down her alley; with her natural fluidity, along with Izuku's endurance regiment, this will be a piece of cake.

As Cementoss boxed the stage to set the course, Mina and Izuku locked eyes one last time. Let's do this!

Shouta preferred to not be where he was right now, but it was his turn this year and he couldn't really argue with his boss. He just tried his best to tune out the rambling commentary coming from Hizashi right next to him. Why was he being loud, even when a microphone was right in front of him? Why couldn't Sekijiro be forced to deal with this idiot?

The erasure hero watches as the arena splits and opens, courtesy of Ishiyama, his senior teacher. The giant cement box in the center falls into the ground, revealing to the students that the race has begun. Chaos ensues as everyone pushed each other forward and out onto the track, where the first challenge waited. He could see a few of his students, namely Bakugou, who was violently flying to first place. There was also the Todoroki child, who decided to freeze the contestants who weren't fast enough to react.

A blur of pink also caught his attention. Looking closer to the race, he spotted Ashido in the front of the crowd, creating a larger gap between her and those behind. As much work as it took to keep her attention in the classroom, she had quite a knack for the practical portion of class. Not to mention Izuku had become more involved in the girl's training and education recently. He didn't really care what was going on between them, so long as they were both able to continue in their hero progress. He was sure Nemuri would figure it out soon, too. And unlike himself, the seductress was going to squeeze as much gossip out of them as she could. I almost feel bad for them.

Glancing over the arena, he caught the twins sitting next to each other in a relatively isolated part of the stands. The two caught a few looks from the audience; only heroes were meant to be there, so it was a bit odd to see kids among them. Then, an ingenious idea popped into his brain.

"Hizashi, I'm leaving; the Jahaad twins are getting too much attention."

The commentator turned to him, a confused look on his face. It took him a second to catch up, recognition showing on his dumb face. "You're gonna bring them here to avoid questioning?"

Shouta sighed, "No; that would bring even more attention to them. I'm going to sit with them, as if they were my pro sidekicks." Fall for it, you loud bastard! Despite how he looked, Hizashi was very intelligent, as was every UA alumni.

"I suppose that also works." He waved off the tired man, and without skipping a beat, began another wave of commentary.

The hero stepped out of the commentator's booth, closing the door. Finally, some silence. Glancing back over the stands, he set on his way to the magician duo. Their spot was almost directly across the arena from his own position, so perhaps stopping to grab food would be smart. No; that would be inefficient.

Yu Takeyama was enjoying herself quite a bit. Just last year, she was somewhat in the same shoes as those competing today. And now, she was together with her teammates, watching the show and scouting out particularly talented kids.

It felt good to be on top.

"You see anyone good yet?" Shinji Nishiya, better known as Kamui Woods, asked aloud. He was the second in their heroic trio.

"There're a lot of talented kids here, but most of them just don't look like they'd play well with others." Edgeshot, or Shinya Kamihara, pointed to the big screen, showcasing and infuriated blonde boy, blasting everything he set eyes on. "Like that kid there; he has really good battle instinct and quirk control, but he's obviously disturbed."

There were also a few others similar to them; another blonde kid, who could copy quirks by touch. He was a cocky bastard, though. Endeavor's kid was really good, but was way too cold to others and only used half of his quirk. There was an electric boy, who had a really strong quirk, but terrible control. A girl with vines in her hair, but not aggressive enough. Another girl with a jetpack, obviously a support-course student, stood out a bit. But she couldn't do hero apprenticeships anyway. A few others came and went, not many had caught Yu's eye. The team would discuss one or two of them if they were impressed, but ultimately, none were fit for their little misfit group.

"Ah, how about her? The pink one." Shinji pointed at the screen. On it, a very pink girl was absolutely wrecking it out there.

"How did I not see her before?" Yu would've figured someone with that exotic of a look would be easy to notice. Especially being that she was in the top three.

"She's very good. It seems she's trained very hard. What is her quirk?" the ninja hero added.

"It looks like some kinda slime. A corrosive one."

"Ew." Yu couldn't say she exactly liked the thought of slime, or slimy stuff.

The group watched as the pink girl skated on the slime, quickly moving in and out of obstacles, melting those that she couldn't go around. She was very calculated and careful, moving like a skilled acrobat across the path. Is was mesmerizing, to be honest. Compared to most of the other contestants, she was killing it out there; she used her quirk with a control many pros would be jealous of. Before they knew it, she was past the finish line.

"Hey, your girlfriend got third." Hmm? Girlfriend?

Yu looked further down and spotted what looked like two students sat together. What are they doing here? "Hey, Shinji, Aren't those kids supposed to be out there?" As much as the young heroine loved gossip, this didn't seem right.

"Not sure." The wood-man wasn't any help. "The sports festival is technically optional, though most of everyone uses the opportunity to gain attention from us heroes."

"Could be as punishment."

"Yeah. That sucks." As her partners went back to watching the show, Yu couldn't help but return focus on the odd duo. Something just didn't add up, but what could she do? No use thinking too hard. She refocused on the competition, forgetting the students.

Izuku was incredibly proud of his girlfriend's performance. He wasn't one for overly telegraphing his emotions, but a subtle smile found its way across his face by the end of her first event. And now he was watching her kick butt in the second.

"You're smitten, aren't you?" his sister wiggled her eyebrows, smirking at the boy.

"I am. There is no shame in having such feelings. Just as you do for Hagakure-san." Even though the boys eyes never left his girlfriend, he easily deflected the punch coming hos way.

"Shhh! Don't be so loud!" Endorsi had a slight blush, but she didn't deny it.

"Speaking of, did you help her out with her costume?"

Is took the girl a moment to regain her bearings, "Yeah. She now has an actual suit. She also asked the support course to see if they can make a bracelet version of quirk-suppression cuffs."

"That would be very good for the girl; though you should tell her how you feel, before someone else does."

"Yeah." She sighed, "I know. When do you think is a good time?"

"Now? I do not think waiting will do any good. Unlike the two of you, Mina and myself were already close and had a good connection. That is why I did not mind waiting until she was ready to bring us up." He finally turned to his poor sister, "You do not have that kind of privilege, sister. You do not converse much with her, and therefore lack that closeness that we did. If you wait much longer, someone else will gain that connection and perhaps steal her away." Izuku gave Endorsi his hand, pulling her up to stand.

"Are you really going to throw me out there like that?"

"Of course." He smiled, "It is the job of the older brother, after all. Do not worry about me, I will be fine up here. There is not much time left until this event ends and we are called for lunch, and I plan to congratulate Mina then."

"Fine. I'm going, then." As the girl left, Izuku noticed his teacher coming from the opposite direction. "Ah, Aizawa-sensei. Is everything okay? It is odd of you to be up and moving around; especially in a crowd such as this."

"Don't patronize me, boy." The disheveled man grumbled, "I noticed the two of you sitting in the stands and decided to use you both as an excuse to get the hell out of that box."

"I see. Mic-sensei is quite… extravagant."

"That's one way to say it." Eraser looked around, "Where is the evil twin?"

"Endorsi went to go see our classmates and say hello."

"Well, at least you're here." The man looked out in the arena, "I see young Ashido has gotten better; I don't care what you two are, but don't let it hinder either of your – or Ashido's – progress."

"I understand." The boy nodded; he knew that hos teacher cared about his students, in his own way. He would never to anything to compromise Mina's livelihood. He loved her too much for that. Whatever his beautiful princess wanted, he would go to the ends of the world to get it.

"Good. I think I'm supposed to say something along the lines of congratulations? Just know that Midnight will be on the both of you, so good luck with that." With that the weathered teacher turned around and headed to the exit. "I apologize for taking your time for so long. Enjoy the rest of your day and congratulate Ashido on her performance."

Izuku also rose from his seat and headed in the direction of the arena. Even when conversing with Aizawa-sensei, his attention stayed on his girlfriend. He would spend the lunch congratulating her progress and wishing her luck in the finals.

Bakugou-san will be a hard opponent to beat.

Not only that, but Todoroki-san was also a particularly violent contender. And the blonde from 1B.

This will be tough on her.

Katsuki was in a less-than-sour mood. That's the best way one could describe the naturally angry blonde. He wasn't smiling, but his scowl was less defined and that raging fire in his eyes were a little dimmer. These idiots think they can win against me. They might as well quit while they're ahead! He laughed to himself. Nobody could beat him; he's been training how to fight long before most of these wimps had their quirks.

Besides them.

Just thinking about those shitty magic twins made him growl. He wasn't so mad that they were… stronger… than him; he could respect the amount of training they put in. What he wasn't happy about was that they were disqualified for the festival, and therefore he wasn't able to fight them.

The sound of broken chopsticks alerted him that he was letting his anger get the hold of him again. His anger-management classes have done considerably well for him, but every now and then he would lose his cool.

Grabbing his spare set of eating utensils, he put the upsetting thoughts into the back of his mind and continued shoving spicy chicken into his mouth whilst looking at the news idly on his phone.

"Bakugou-san."

GODDAMMIT!! Turning around, he came face-to-face with the boy responsible for half of his ire. After taking a few breaths, and setting his second set of broken chopsticks calmly on his tray, he looked up at the green-haired boy. "What is it?" considering his average vocabulary, this was a very kind response; it almost made the blonde proud. Almost.

"I came by to congratulate you for your performance so fa-"

"It's expected. No way I could lose to these morons!"

The boy stood still, as if contemplating something. "I wasn't finished." As much as he carried a respectful attitude, something seemed off in the boy's eyes. "I also wanted to talk to you."

"About what?"

"I assume you noticed that I have become close to Mina over the course of our time in UA." Katsuki nodded. "I also know how… bold you are in sparring. While I do not agree with your methods, I respect your strength, skill, and efficiency."

He didn't like where thos was going.

"However, you are may soon fight against Mina."

I don't like this at all

"It may not come to it. And I'm not asking you to let her win if it does. But, I ask you that you do not go overboard against her. I know that your strength is more than most of, if not the entire class, but I will not be happy if you hurt her more than what is necessary."

Of all the people to trifle with, Izuku Jahaad was definitely not the one. Katsuki had a suspicion about the relationship between his classmates, but he never really cared about that stuff.

Now though…

"Yeah, I get it; no going overkill on your girl." While he maintained an unbothered complexion, he was sweating bullets under his uniform. He watched as the magician turned and walked away, probably to see his lover.

That will be it for this chapter. I'm going to try to keep it to about 2k-2500 words bc that's about where I get writer's block. So next chapter will cover the end of the sports festival, Mina will take place of Izuku in the final portion. Shinzo will be replaced by Monoma bc he is in class 1A and less of an ass this AU, therefore not so deceiving in the festival.

Anyway, that shall be it for now.
