It had been three weeks since the mission to Corellia, and things had been going well. Korra and Mako had both progressed with their lightsaber training, as well as flying ships, though Mako was a better pilot than Korra, especially in starfighters. Now, over three months after their children had been born, and many of their students had also progressed. Ezra and Veers were ready to start learning Metalbending, while Mako thought that Sabine and Jonah were ready to learn Lightning redirection, just like Krennic. That is when Vader had gone to see Mako, to give him a solo mission, just like Korra had her own mission.
As they approached their destination, Vader explained Mako's mission. His target, Reva Savandar, was a traitorous Inquisitor who'd been in hiding for several years. Vader thought that Mako was ready to put his dueling skills into practice.
"Your Firebending will not win this fight, only the Force and your lightsaber can do so," Vader explained. "This is a task for you, alone, not with Korra. She has her own target." Mako nodded as he exited the transport on Eriadu. As the detective went to the designated location, he quickly spotted Savandar. She saw him as well, and started running, using the Force to move faster. Mako quickly jumped to the rooftops as well and used his Firebending to jet ahead. Savandar made it onboard a departing cargo ship as it was taking off, but Mako slipped in right as the doors closed and the craft took off.
"Who's this, Reva?" one of the crewmen exclaimed.
"One of Vader's dogs," the traitorous Inquisitor stated. Mako then ignited the lightsaber Vader had given him. It had belonged to a Jedi named Arana, he'd heard, one of the Jedi that Vader killed to earn his first Cross of Valor, early in his career as Imperial Executor. The more Mako heard of the Jedi, the more he thought the Empire was right to destroy them. Savandar's accomplices opened fire on him as she charged to the cockpit. Mako quickly dodged most of the shots but he managed to bounce one of them back at its sender. He moved fast and quickly cut down two more. He bounced back two more blaster shots to their senders and cut down the last shooter just as Savandar returned with her lightsaber and five more accomplices. But then, just as the ship began to leave the atmosphere, they were hit with a laser blast, and the cargo transport began falling back down to Eriadu. As the ship reentered the atmosphere, the hull tore open and many of the crew were sucked out.
Mako was sucked out himself but managed to hold onto his lightsaber like his teacher had taught him. Seeing a mountaintop nearby, he used his Firebending to propel himself toward it and the Force to slow his descent. Landing on his feet, he fell to his knees as the burning ship screamed past and exploded. Before he could relax, however, Mako heard a whirring, buzzing sound. Turning his head in its direction, he saw Savandar holding her own, Inquisitorious-issued lightsaber. She held it above her head, and the twin blades were spinning, levitating her like that helicopter Asami had shown them in her workshop.
"You made a mistake siding with Skywalker," Savandar said with contempt in her voice as she landed. She then charged forth, jabbing her sword at Mako. He quickly dodged it, even as she spun her lightsaber in his direction again. Blocking her slash, he tossed a fireblast her way but she dodged it. Savandar telekinetically threw several rocks at the Firebender, but he managed to cut them apart with his lightsaber. Unfortunately, she'd used the opportunity to get close and kick him backward toward the mountainside.
But Mako quickly recovered and Firebent a blast to steady himself again. Conjuring a bolt of lightning, his next attack knocked Savandar's lightsaber out of her hands. She tossed another stone his way as she picked up her lightsaber. But this time, one half of it was broken, so Savandar had only one blade. Mako parried her clumsy slashes before force-gripping a stone and sending it flying into Savandar's side. As she was disoriented, Mako knocked her away. Before she could recover, he stabbed his sword into her back, piercing her heart, and exiting through the chest. After deactivating his lightsaber, the rogue Inquisitor collapsed dead on her face as a Sentinel-class shuttle approaching. The bottom opened and Mako saw Commander Corsin before he boarded.
As they returned to the Devastator in orbit, Mako arrived on the bridge to see Admiral Tion speaking with a hologram of Vader.
"My lord, I had to shoot down the shuttle, Governor Tarkin ordered th-uhh," he tried to explain himself before grasping his throat.
"You knew we had a mission of our own," Vader retorted as Tion fell to his knees. "I've had enough of your failure to remember that, admiral." The sound of Tion's throat collapsing rattled the bridge. Mako might have been disturbed himself if Tion hadn't just tried to kill him. Vader's gaze shifted to Corsin after Tion's death. "You are in command of my flagship, Captain Corsin," the Sith Lord stated.
"Thank you, my lord," the new captain stated as two Navy Troopers dragged Tion's body off the bridge. "What are your orders?"
"For now, clear the bridge, save for Mako, I want to hear his report," Vader stated. After everyone else had left, Mako reported on his fight with Savandar.
"She was a tough opponent, like you warned, master," Mako reported to his superior. "But her skill with a lightsaber was wanting."
"As is common with many Inquisitors," Vader replied. "A weakness I'm making sure both you and Korra lack. Still, this wouldn't have been a test if you weren't challenged. In addition to your success, the Avatar has done well in her latest swordfighting lesson. Rendezvous with us outside the Cophrigen system, your next test awaits, as does Korra's."
Korra was flying the ship they'd taken from Zekka Thyne, she and Mako named it the Platinum Bender, with Mako by her side and Turr Phennir standing in the back. She was still a bit new at the controls of a starship but this was something she had to learn. As they approached the forest planet, called Cophrigen, Korra looked down at her lightsaber. Vader had given her the choice of picking a lightsaber from his collection of trophies he'd taken from the Jedi he and the 501st had killed. She'd been intrigued by a set of blue lightsabers that belonged to a woman named Serra Keto.
"Serra was a worthy opponent," Vader said when she looked upon the identical twin sabers. "A strong, brave young woman who unfortunately couldn't see past the lies of her order. I made sure she had a proper cremation, nonetheless." Korra nodded at that, from what information she could gather, the Jedi Order was the worst of the White Lotus's stagnation and foolishness crossed with the Dai Li's treachery, only their treason had been foiled. And now, the surviving fugitives were working with foolish new rebels, who'd they'd swayed with talk of a mythical golden age to be restored. No different than the 'Freedom Fighters' of the Earth Kingdom or the 'Sons of Sozin' of the Fire Nation.
After receiving the two lightsabers, Korra had them modified, to where it looked like it was a double-blade lightsaber. But in truth, the two hilts could still separate. As the Avatar was the master of every element, Korra thought it appropriate that she could change her weapon when she needed to. She could use it as a long-handled single blade, a saberstaff, or split it to fight with one sword in either hand.
"I will be leading the attack on the main base," Vader said. "You are to go to the secondary base, here," the Sith showed her on a holomap. "At my section of the base, there will be a Jedi Master named Anya Kuro. In addition to the insurgents at your section of their encampment, there will be a Jedi Master named Quinlan Vos. You will kill him, just as I kill Kuro."
"Okay, do you have any advice for me?" Korra asked her teacher.
"Vos is a skilled swordsman and Force User," Vader said. "When I fought him, he lasted longer than his own master, Tholme. I battered his barriers down with my lightsaber as well as the Force. The only reason Vos survived was the blast of Force Lightning he surprised me with, allowing him to escape. You can block that with your lightsaber but not with the redirection technique you learned from Mako. He will push you to your limits but I'm confident you shall prevail." As Lieutenant Phennir took the controls, Mako and Korra stood up. Both of them were wearing their new suits of armor. It looked much like a TIE Fighter Pilot suit but it was far more.
Both suits had reinforced chest armor that was surprisingly light and while both had standard TIE Pilot helmets, Mako's had a red Fire Nation symbol on the left side of it, while Korra had a blue Water Tribe symbol. Mako went to the small hanger for the starfighter the Platinum Bender was equipped with, where Darth Vader had docked his TIE Advanced. Mako would take to the skies inside it to shoot down any ships trying to escape while Phennir flew Vader and Korra over their targets. After the Sith and the Avatar jumped out of the yacht to their respective targets, the Devastator would arrive to cut off any escape attempt the Rebels might mount. As they exited hyperspace behind the moon, Mako flew out.
"Their sensors haven't spotted us, Lord Vader," Phennir said as they got closer to the planet. "Just another thing we can thank Thyne for about this ship." Indeed, the crime lord had heavily modified the yacht now called the Platinum Bender: its sensors and stealth functions were more advanced, its armor and shields were reinforced, the yacht's speed had been upgraded, and most of all, its weapons. In addition to an automated repeating blaster cannon to stop boarding attempts on the ground, it had two laser cannons in front and a third, retractable, twin laser cannon in back. Completing the armament were a pair of missile tubes, capable of housing proton torpedoes. Despite all this, the inside hadn't sacrificed any luxury.
Vader jumped out of the yacht first and landed in the middle of a Rebel training camp. He annihilated two dozen Rebels around him with a Force shockwave that sent all of them flying. Deflecting a blaster shot at him, he sent the bolt flying into an explosive container, engulfing more Rebels in the flames. He sensed more Rebels running for their ships but not his quarry. She had stayed to fight. As Vader advanced, he came across a garden, filled with many beautiful flowers.
"They are among the last of their kind," an old woman's voice called out. Vader turned to see his quarry, Anya Kuro. "I have been working hard to restore them and protect them from weeds that choke them and parasites that eat them alive."
"A wasted effort," Vader retorted. "Weaker species go extinct and are replaced by stronger ones."
"Some are threatened by unnatural dangers," the old Jedi replied as she strolled through her garden. "But they can come back stronger than ever, despite the expectations of others."
"We'll see," Vader retorted as he drew his lightsaber. The Jedi Master drew her own purple lightsaber, still wrapped in leather patterned after a flower. She blocked Vader's first slash before dodging the second. He stabbed at her but she deflected. He gripped her with his telekinesis but she resisted. "It is good to see you haven't lost your touch, Master Kuro."
"Nor have you, Lord Vader," she replied, charging forward and slashing at him. He tossed numerous rocks at her with the Force but she cut through them. "Even if you have given into the addiction of the darkness. If you resisted, you'd be a Master yourself." That is when vines shot up and wrapped themselves around Vader's limbs and throat. "How unfortunate that Sidious is going to lose not just his favorite pawn but the brilliant new apprentice of that pawn," she taunted as she swung her lightsaber down at him.
"You underestimate Korra if you think Vos can overwhelm her," Vader boasted as he locked sabers with Kuro. "And you underestimate me, just like every other master in the Order!" Whacking his lightsaber hilt into her chin, he kicked her back as he broke free of the vines. Seeing that she was now running toward where Korra would be fighting Vos, Vader leaped over Kuro, cutting her off. "You won't be getting out of this so fast," the Sith Lord stated, hitting Anya's lightsaber so hard it went flying out of her hands. Attempting to stab her, he was surprised at her blocking his blade with her bare hands, using the Force to protect herself. Realizing her lightsaber was flying his way, he deflected it, giving her the opportunity to retreat and grab her sword. Witnessing her charging toward a speeder, he gripped a tree and toppled it onto the bike, crushing it.
As the Jedi Master tossed a broken branch at him, he cut through it. Knocking his own lightsaber away, she swung at him but he grabbed her by the wrist, crushing it in his mechanical right hand. As her lightsaber fell out of her grip, Vader grasped it in his left fist and stabbed the Jedi in the stomach with her own weapon. As she fell backward, he called his own lightsaber to his hand.
"It seems that a faint light is brightest in pitch black," the old master coughed out. "You truly care for that new apprentice of yours, Anakin." With that remark, Vader swung his lightsaber down, slicing her in half diagonally. With his quarry dead, Vader radioed the Platinum Bender. With Mako helping the Devastator handle any Rebel escape ships, the yacht was free to pick up the Dark Lord and ferry him over to the Avatar's location. Hopefully, she wasn't experiencing too much trouble.
Shortly after Vader jumped, Korra made her own jump. Using her Airbending to guide herself to the ground, she used Firebending to slow her descent, before landing with a powerful Earthbending slam, knocking a dozen Rebels off their feet. As they landed, she drew water from a nearby river and rapidly formed a storm of Icicles which she rained down on the insurgents, skewering many of them.
As more Rebels charged out of their base, she covered much of the ground in ice and jetted across it in her boots which she'd just bent ice over, as well. Racing forward, she covered her body with a shield of rock she'd Earthbent around herself, granting further protection from the blaster shots fired her way. She could see that the terrorists were terrified of her, and she enjoyed that. Activating one side of her lightsaber, she cut through one assailant after another, knocking several off their feet with an Airbent wave she swung through her sword. Cutting through the soldiers with her lightsaber, Korra bounced a blaster shot back at another Rebel. After cutting through the locked door in front of her, the Avatar saw another down the hallway with a repeater. As he opened fire, she activated the second blade on her lightsaber, forming a saberstaff. Quickly, she deflected on shot after another with the two blades, sending three back to their sender and killing him.
After switching off the second blade, Korra charged into the hanger and saw a soldier with a rocket launcher. As he fired upon her, she sent the missile flying backward with a Force push, blowing him up. Metalbending a sheet of alloy off a speeder, she used it as an impromptu shield against more Rebels blaster shots. Quickly, she sent the sharpened plate into one holding a grenade, cutting him in half. Gripping the triggered grenade with the Force, she sent it flying into a shuttle about to take off, causing an explosion which destroyed the whole ship.
"Enough!" a new voice yelled to the other terrorists in the hanger. It was Quinlan Vos, as he had the thin yellow line across his face marking him as a Kiffar. He was joined by three clone wars-era Magnaguards with their electrostaffs as backup. "Teller, get everyone out of here! I'll join you with Master Kuro after I'm finished here." As the other insurgents charged onto the two remaining shuttles, the Jedi Master and the three Magnaguards blocked Korra from reaching them. Vos hung back as the trio of droids charged at the Avatar.
The first droid spun its electrostaff in a blocking pattern as Korra stabbed at it. The second jabbed at her, allowing her to stab it through the chest with the second blade on her saber. As the third attempted to attack from behind, she Earthbent the ground, causing it to sink beneath the droid, allowing her to slash downward, splitting it in half down the middle. She gripped the last one with Metalbending, ripping off its legs and tossing them at Vos, who quickly sliced through them. Gripping the electrostaff of one of the fallen Magnaguards, she stabbed it through the legless droid, finally destroying it.
"Anakin has found an impressive apprentice," Vos said as one of the discarded staffs flew into his hand. Gripping it in his left hand, he grasped his lightsaber with his right and ignited the green blade. Korra switched back to a single blade and charged at the Jedi Master. He batted away her attack with his sword before jabbing his staff at her. Dodging the attack, Korra ignited the second blade, almost stabbing Vos in the stomach. Narrowly avoiding the strike, he swung the staff at her leg, which she deflected. But that was a feint for a stab with his lightsaber. Luckily, Korra kicked a stone out of the ground with her Earthbending, knocking his sword out of his hands. Forcing him back with her saberstaff attacks, Korra Firebent at his legs, almost burning him. Realizing something was flying her way from behind, Korra jumped upward, narrowly dodging another staff.
Realizing the Avatar was far more powerful than he thought, Vos tossed one of the staffs at her like a spear, which she deflected with an Airbending blast. As he retrieved his lightsaber, she Metalbent iron around her boot, coming down and breaking the second staff in half before he could grasp it. Grabbing the last staff, the Jedi Master stabbed at her again, and again she blocked. But this time, he slashed at her with his lightsaber from an angle the saberstaff couldn't reach in time. It would have beheaded her, if she hadn't split her doublesaber in half, blocking the lightsaber with the sword in her right hand, and the electrostaff with her left.
"I'm greater than you, Vos," she smirked behind her helmet, Firebending with a kick into his chest. She then swung both blades down on the staff, breaking it under the pressure. He jabbed back with his own lightsaber, but she deflected with her left sword while slashing her right blade across his chest. He brought one great swing down toward her but she blocked it with her two swords in a scissor motion before twirling his lightsaber out of his hands. Firing a blast of Force Lightning, she blocked it with her lightsabers as she moved forward. Before he could recover after she overcame the surprise blast of energy, she Metalbent a droid piece through his left foot, causing him to scream in pain. Before Vos recovered, Korra cut through him with both her lightsabers in an X slice, at which point his body collapsed into fourths. As she caught her breath, picking up Vos's lightsaber, she heard a ship approaching and sensed Vader. No doubt he'd come to check on her progress.
"It is most impressive you could overcome such a distinguished Jedi Master," Vader told her. "You make me proud to call you my apprentice."
"Thank you, Lord Vader," Korra replied as Mako came into the meeting room on the Platinum Bender.
"I shot down four transports, master, but two got away," he reported.
"No matter," Vader replied. "You did well in your first outing as a fighter pilot. The Rebels who escaped will try to weave a heroic narrative of Jedi Martyrs giving their lives so they could live. But they forget something important: Martyrs only inspire, they never lead or teach. Always consider that on the battlefield."
"Of course, my lord," Korra said. "Now, I'm wondering if you have found a way to Elementia at this point."
"One of our deep-space probes has arrived at a world believed to be your system," Vader stated. "We will have confirmation within one month. For now, however, there is a mission I have spent years laying the preparations to. It will take place in two weeks' time, and it will weaken the very heart of the Hutts."
It had been over a year since the Avatar had disappeared. In that time, Kuvira had become far more aggressive in her unification campaign. Varrick and Baatar had begun to lay the groundwork for rebuilding Ba Sing Se but for now, she was more concerned at constructing the high-speed railway Baatar had invented. Already, they had managed to extend it past the capital to numerous outposts Kuvira's army had already constructed. In addition, Bolin had quickly progressed thanks to the holocron that Kuvira and Baatar had shared with him. Her army was even ready to begin issuing standardized uniforms.
The simple green and black trenchcoats with metallic collars and shoulder accessories would be given to everyone in the Unification Army, as she'd dubbed her force. But Baatar had another idea. For the elite soldiers, either Metalbenders or the assorted Water, Fire, or Airbenders that had joined them, he'd constructed a special helmet. It was a perfect replica of the Obsidian Knight's mask, except chrome instead of black with green lenses as opposed to red. In addition, he'd studied the pictures of the white-armored soldiers of Vader, who'd killed many Metalbender police to stop them from reaching Air Temple Island to attack their superior. His new Mechs would have a perfect replica of their frowning helmets, except colored forest green instead of white. He'd also envisioned a new weapon to be mounted on the Mechs: an air cannon that would fire a spray of sharpened debris out at its targets. The debris could be made of metal, rock, glass, wood, anything. The sight of such an army would no doubt intimidate their enemies before the battle had even begun.
But for now, in the Metalbender training camp that Kuvira had set up to the west of Ba Sing Se, where Varrick and Zhu Li were devising plans to lay the new train track, she had other things on her mind. Specifically, what Opal had come to the camp to say.
"Kuvira, do you really think you are helping our country?" the younger woman asked.
"I just reclaimed Ba Sing Se, rescued many orphans, and finally destroyed the Dai Li," Kuvira replied to her little sister. "Not even Tenzin has criticized me for this."
"And that's not the problem he has," Opal replied to her foster sister. "He's bothered by the destruction you've wrought."
"The Inner Ring's collapse was an accident," the general reminded her. "How was I supposed to know the Dai Li were stupid enough to put so many explosives under the city? Besides, just about everyone who lived there abandoned ship when Zaheer smothered Hou-Ting. The Dai Li were the only people to die as a result. Or is Tenzin saying it's my fault because I didn't trust them enough to negotiate with them?"
"He thinks that you could have avoided going to the capital, at least immediately," Opal replied. "Once it was time for the coronation-""Coronation!?" Kuvira shouted in surprise. "When you and your classmates distributed food and medicine, you saw how hungry everybody was, how the water mains had been smashed. Less than a thousand people lived in the city itself, and only a few thousand lived between the outer and inner walls. Out of a pre-revolution population of over four million. I wasn't putting them on hold until Prince whatever his name is ready to get crowned." After pausing for a moment, Kuvira continued. "I just don't get Tenzin, one moment he's leading you and the other new Airbenders around the world on acts of charity in those new suits of yours," the Metalbender gestured to the mostly red wingsuit made by Future Industries Opal was wearing, "the next he's saying it's wrong for me to step up and help my country. Does he think the world should just stop in its tracks while the Avatar is...absent?" After a moment, Opal revealed that he would soon be trying to activate one of the crystal fragments. "I hope he succeeds but he can't expect the rest of us to let the world fall to ruin while Korra's away." At that moment, Opal pulled a folded letter out of her pocket.
"This isn't about Tenzin and your campaign, just look at it, please," asked Opal. Kuvira picked up the folded letter and looked upon it. She was surprised to see what it was. The document was an adoption form, filed by Suyin applying to make Kuvira her legal daughter. The form had been approved just two days before the young Metalbender left Zaofu. Seeing her sister's surprise, Opal spoke up. "The Dai Li no longer had to be placated, so Mom could do what she always wanted to do. But with things breaking down, the letter arrived a bit later than intended."
"Why didn't she tell me or show me this in the last ten months?" Kuvira asked, not realizing tears were forming in her eyes at the realization that she was as important to Suyin Bei Fong as the rest of her children.
"Mom thought you'd think it was a trick," Opal said. "She wanted to show you after you reconsidered your actions on your own."
"That doesn't surprise me," Baatar interjected, having been listening to the conversation. "It sounds exactly like something Mom would do."
"What do you mean?" Opal asked her brother. She was rather surprised at the rant Baatar gave in response. Clearly, he'd been holding onto these feelings for a long time. Before she could respond, they heard sounds of explosions outside and the three siblings rushed out. Opal Airbent the cloud of smoke in front of them away, revealing many bizarre looking people. Some had leathery skin, others looked vaguely like hairless dogs, and finally, there was a large number of scaled, horned beings, some had red skin, others were green. Kuvira tossed a series of Flechettes their way, trying to figure out what these things were, but waves of blue light shot out of their weapons, and the three Bei Fongs were knocked unconscious.
Bolin awoke with his wrists bound. Looking around him, he saw Baatar, Varrick, and Zhu Li were restrained the same way. The various Metalbender trainees that Kuvira had begun to teach had been placed in a strange, red field. They were suspended in midair while remaining frozen in the field, just like Kuvira. Opal was bound by her hands and feet close to a doorway, her mouth gagged. Looking around him, he saw they were inside a completely metal room, covered with rust and lit with brown lights. It was almost like they were inside a submarine.
"Ahh, our guests have woken up," one of the leather-faced captors smirked at them. Noticing the confusion he opened a shutter, revealing to them an orange planet they were moving past. After a moment, Varrick's eyes shot open in surprise.
"Well, this isn't how I wanted to do Nuktuk in Space," the eccentric businessman said. Everyone's eyes shot open in surprise at that remark. These were aliens, and they were in outer space?
"I see you have trouble realizing the truth," one of the dog-faced aliens said before turning to Opal. "We weren't planning to take her to Arok's palace, so you can see her fly out an airlock while she turns inside out." Two of the thugs grabbed Opal, who tried to struggle as they dragged her to one of the two doorways on the wall. Bolin strained to get up to help her, his restraints breaking to everyone's surprise. He managed to punch one but there was still nothing he could bend here and he was hit with another stun blast. Waking up, he found himself in a strange environment suit, with a sealed helmet on his head. Looking to the front, he saw he was in a small room with one door on either end.
As he tried to make sense of what was going on, he looked through the window of the door in front of him. Opal was in an identical room at the opposite end of the holding area, wearing the exact same suit.
"Awake now?" a radio in the helmet asked. "Good." All the sudden, he heard a chirp and a new sound.
"Bolin, can you hear me?" she said through her helmet.
"Yeah, what's going on?" Bolin replied.
"What's going on is that you two are wearing space suits," the voice on the radio said. "It gives you your own air supply since, after all, there is no air in outer space. Since you two disgusting humans clearly care for each other, you get to die together. Loverboy," the voice stated to Bolin. "You have more air than your girlfriend, so when we toss you out the airlock, you can listen to her suffocate. After that, you'll spin around a bit until you run out of air. Or hit something and get it over with." At that, the outer doors in both rooms opened, sending Bolin and Opal flying out the ship in opposite directions.
Opal spun helplessly into the void. The only air she had was inside the suit keeping her alive, so she couldn't bend. She heard Bolin calling to her on the radio in her helmet, saying he would soon be there but she didn't know how, as there wasn't anything he could bend in the void either. She didn't know how many times she spun or how long she floated helplessly but soon, she was having trouble breathing, and starting to black out. Just as she was losing consciousness, a pair of strong arms wrapped around her and she heard a snap on her chest. At that moment, she could breathe again.
"Take it easy, Opal, breathe in, breathe out," Bolin said lovingly through her helmet's radio.
"H-how?" the young Airbender asked as she caught her breath.
"It's a bit like a fire suit," Bolin said. "I hooked up my oxygen hose to yours, and now we're breathing the same air."
"How'd you get here?" she asked. "There's nothing to bend and you were flying opposite of me."
"Kuvira and Baatar have learned a few new tricks," he admitted. "They gave me the way to learn them, as well, but I've been having trouble using them." As he looked into her eyes with a smile, he said, "I guess it's a question of motivation." She smiled back at the remark. Bolin really did love her.
"Not sure how much longer we can last but at least I'm with the best boyfriend I could have," she smiled back as she hugged him. They drifted for some more time until another ship flew right next to them. In front of them, an airlock door opened and behind it, was the Obsidian Knight himself, Darth Vader. Both of them were pulled by an invisible chain into the airlock, which soon closed behind them. As air filled the room, both the Earth and Airbender pushed off their helmets and coughed as they breathed in the ship's air. After catching their breath, the two looked up at the source of the sound of mechanical breathing. Darth Vader looked and sounded as scary as all the stories had claimed.
"Uh, thank you, Mr. Lord Vader, sir," Bolin sputtered out half terrified before remembering the situation they'd been in. "You're as helpful and compassionate as Chief Tonraq and Senna claim. If you're feeling in a generous mood, a bunch of jerks abducted our friends and we could use some help getting them back."
"You are Bolin," the dark armored giant stated before turning to Opal. "Are you Kuvira?"
"No, I'm her sister, Opal," the young Airbender answered, scared by his deep voice. "She's been taken along with my brother. Please, can you help them? I'll tell everyone on our world of your compassion if you do."
"That is appreciated, but first, a reunion," Vader said, standing to the side as the door behind him opened. As it opened, Opal and Bolin's eyes widened in shock at the two behind the door.
"Hey, bro," Mako said with a smile, with a smiling Korra by his side.
I had Reva from Obi-Wan show up as Mako's test of swordsmanship. While she wasn't that great before, she's had about five years to improve. I hope you all like my adaptation of the Star Wars: Tales story Extinction. Not only was it about Vader getting some action but showing his care for Korra. I had Korra fight Quinlan Vos because he was the first name to come to mind. Hope you like her first outing with lightsabers. The armor she and Mako now wear is the same as Inferno Squad from Battlefront 2, except with a Water Tribe and a Fire Nation insignia, respectively, on the left temple of the helmet.
As for why Korra and Mako think so poorly of the Jedi, there are two reasons: one, they are learning from an extremely biased source. Two, what they have learned makes them sound extremely similar to groups they hate.
You will learn what Baatar said about Suyin in a future chapter. So, Kuvira and friends have been abducted by space pirates. Why were they taken? Where are they going? What are Mako and Korra doing in the area? All will be explained next chapter.
