Elizabeth gazed in wonder at the grandeur of the cathedral, her eyes taking in every intricate detail of the architecture. The delicate carvings and the majestic spires far exceeded her expectations. Having read several stories about this remarkable place, she was filled with a sense of awe as she stood there, her eyes shimmering with tears of joy.

While the rest of the group marveled at the stunning building, Darcy was focus on Elizabeth's mesmerized expression.

In a soft, almost hushed voice, he inquired, "Does the Cathedral meet your expectations?"

A radiant smile spread across her face as she responded, "It exceeds them, Mr. Darcy. I had anticipated its beauty, but the reality far surpasses anything my imagination or the illustrations I have seen could convey."

"I am delighted to hear that," Darcy responded warmly as he extended his arm toward her, and they proceeded to stroll through the cathedral leisurely. They began their exploration with a tour of the exterior before venturing inside to immerse themselves in the sacred space.

As they strolled through the aisles, Darcy casually remarked, "Georgiana mentioned that your birthday is just ten days away."

Elizabeth nodded in response, "Indeed, I will be of age," her thoughts momentarily drifted to the memory of her late father and the weight of responsibility she would soon carry on her small shoulders. In a whisper, she added, "From then on, I will be the mistress of Longbourn."

Noticing the change in Elizabeth's demeanor, Darcy assumed it was due to the responsibilities she would assume in the near future. He gently placed his hand over hers, and gazing into her eyes, he spoke softly, "I remember vividly the day my father passed away unexpectedly. I was only twenty-two years old and had just completed my studies at university. Overnight, I became the master of Pemberley and the owner of two other properties. In addition, as you know, I am my sister's guardian. It was a daunting transition, realizing that the well-being of so many people relied on the decisions I would make."

Elizabeth gently squeezed his arm, her eyes reflecting deep understanding and empathy as she responded, "It must have been so challenging for you to bear such responsibilities at such a young age."

Darcy nodded slightly, "It was indeed a difficult time. The first year was particularly overwhelming for me. Each decision seemed to carry enormous weight, and I often questioned the path I was on." A faint but genuine smile graced his lips as he continued, "I consider myself lucky to have had an exceptional steward at Pemberley, whose support was invaluable, especially during those initial years." Locking eyes with Elizabeth, he added, "I am sharing this with you because I understand the concerns and doubts that come with the responsibility of caring for the wellbeing of your family and the tenants. It is only natural to be apprehensive about making mistakes."

Elizabeth smiled and remarked, "It almost feels like you can read my mind, Mr. Darcy" After a moment of reflection, she continued, "I have been fortunate to have my Uncle Carey's guidance in handling the challenging decisions related to the harvest and in settling the disputes among tenants. I am confident he will continue to support me if I need his help. Nevertheless, I am hesitant to impose on him for an extended period since he has his own estate and family to attend to" She sighed, "My mother believes that we should hire the eldest son of Netherfield's steward to aid me. He is 25 years old and has been involved in overseeing the administration of Netherfield alongside his father for a few years now."

Darcy nodded, "I think it is an excellent idea. I have had the chance to have a few conversations with young Carper, and I have a good opinion of him. He is an honest and capable man, and I am certain he will be happy to accept your offer."

It was at that moment when Richard and Mary joined them and they continued talking about other things.
