Prologue- The Little Mermaid and the Man of Tomorrow I.

Ariel could feel how her father covered the gaze of her and her sisters as the pirate ship was about to crush her mother before she could get away after freeing two of her sisters and going to retrieve the music box.

Ariel tried to squirm out of her father's grasp to try and save her mother but it was to no avail as the inevitable came and then...nothing...nothing but silence.

Ariel managed to wriggle free of her father's hand as he looked with eyes wide and jaw dropped towards the direction of the pirate vessel who was stopped just before her mother Queen Athena was killed.

Following her father's, mother's and every other merfolk astonished gaze she saw that both anchors where pulled backwards and keeping the ship from moving and where being held by...by a boy that looked close to Ariel's age.

He was wearing a tricorn hat and what her mother called Sun Glasses on his face as he somehow managed to stop the pyrate vessel.

Her mother quickly swam out of the way as after that the boy let the pyrate boat go but not before he leaped onto the pyrate ship and then one by one the pyrates started to fall into the water, he father immediately ordered their people to follow up and capture the humans.

"Quick! That boy is all alone with these pyrates!" Her mother said and before she knew it Ariel's tail had a life of her own as she, despite her dad's protests, swam as fast as she could towards the pirate ship, along the way she grabbed a piece of wood as a weapon and rushed up the side of the boat to help the boy who helped them.

The boy was there dodging swords, grabbing pyrates and tossing them into the ocean but the captain managed to throw some chains on the boy, heavy chains that not even he could break trough.

The pyrate captain loomed over the boy ready to stab him with a harpoon when Ariel used every bit of her willpower to leap on the deck and use her stick to hit a rope making the sales moved in a way that one of it's horizontal wooden beams that held them struck the captain sending him into the water.

As that happened the boy and Ariel shared a look as Ariel got a good look at what he was wearing which was blue pants a black shirt with a great S on it.

The sound of barking was heard from below deck as the boy became frantic as he ripped the chains apart from a sudden burst of power, so much so that Ariel could see he cut the skin of his hands in several places as the boy rushed bellow deck and came up with a small creature that Ariel didn't recognize.

"I'm sorry Max, I'm sorry for getting you kidnapped by Pyrates." The boy said as Ariel slowly aproached him. The boy turned to her and took a step back in fear. Ariel was astonished at this, he had displayed so much power and yet he was afraid of her.

The boy jumped in panic upon hearing as the merman climbed the ship until they where all on deck as her father and mother rushed to her.

"S...sorry I couldn't stop them before they ruined your party. Keep the ship and what's inside." The boys said and jumped into the sky so high it looked like he was flying as he landed on a small dingy far away as Ariel rushed over the side and saw that he got into the water behind the little boat and started to kick with such speed that the water around the dingy turned white.

But that was not enough to outswim a mermaid as Ariel effortlessly caugh up to him as the frightened boy jumped back with a yelp as she came up right next to him.

The two shared another gaze at each other

"I'm Ariel." Ariel said and gave a small wave.

"My name...is Kal-El." The boy said as Ariel took out a seaweed crispy snack and gave it to him.

"Thanks for saving my mom."

"You're welcome." The boy said as he shilly accepted the snack before he pulled himself halfway in his dingy and gave Ariel his wrapped lunch that had some apples in it. Ariel looked at the common apples with wonder, she had never seen food from the human world before. But as she looked up to talk to the boy again she saw that he was paddling away with a lot of speed.

Her father and mother caught up to her before she could catch up to him.

"Stay here and I'll go get him for our party!" Queen Athen said to Ariel before her husband grabbed her hand.

"Dear, I think we need to make sure these pyrates face justice first." Triton said with a pleading look in his eyes, one that said 'please listen to me for once and don't run head first in the unknown'. Queen Athena rolled her eyes as she gave a reluctant nod as Ariel's gaze was centered on the boat as it got farther and farther away.

"His name is Ka-El..." Ariel said dreamily as she took a bite of the apple.

Triton looked with concern as his youngest daughter had that very same reckless spark in her eyes now that he loved and dreaded of his dear wife.

"I think we should go and pay your uncles a visit." King Triton quickly said as his wife knowingly gave him a look that she saw trough his ploy of getting ther adventurous Ariel away from the boy she stared as he got further and further away but decided to say nothing.

"Their meeting was fated my love. You cannot avoid a fated meeting." Queen Athena said as he gave her husband a deep kiss to calm his fears down.

"Kal-El..." Ariel said with wonder in her eyes as she stared at the horizon where the boy ran off to.

"AHAHAHAHA! Oy...oy...I thought I had it bad!"

"Hades this is no laughing matter! The humans outside of Greek waters is dangerous!" Neptune said and nodded towards his younger brother Triton as the brother gods discussed this new development.

"Why don't you send Ariel when she's older to Greece then to learn at the Prometheus Academy, the humans there would not dare harm her, also my son is currently mortal and could look out for her there." Zeus offered.

"That should help but I fear that one day she will tire of the Aegean and Atlantica and seek out the wide ocean, especially the lands to the west." Triton said as a silence fell over the table, the land to the west referred to the places where humans abandoned magic and focused on technology, a land where the influence of the Gods waned and spells and potions where in some place considered the stuff of myth.

"Cheer up Sea King Daddy, it's not all doom and gloom. After all that human boy saved your wife. There's plenty of nasty dudes out there, but there's also cool cats like that kid. Can't wait to hear of him again when he grows up, that boy of today is going to be a big man tomorrow." Hermes said as he brought some refreshments to the group.

Hades at that was silent as he made a mental note to visit the fates again and ask about this new development. He should have seen it coming, the planets aligning was still far away but it already started years ago and when that happens all kinds of weird stuff happened. Hades just knew that the strange boy was related to that star that fell in the west years ago.
