Not much happened in Bellwood a little town on a little island in the grand Line Jen Tennyson had a perfectly normal life, and that's exactly what she wanted, she enjoyed being able to play football and hang out with her friends without worrying some nut job from outer space is going to hunt her down even though it was painfully boring at times, Jen had always dreamed of seeing as many different islands as possible when she was a kid.
Jen was running over to her grandpa Max's houseboat to show him a medal she won In today's match, "hey grandpa open up" Jen yelled as she knocked on the door to the rustbucket, but there was no answer so she used the spare key her grandpa had hidden under a nearby rock when Jen entered the houseboat the place was completely trashed, drawers pulled out and their contents scattered everywhere jen flicked a few buttons on the front console and a secret compartment opened up revealing a circular device, clearly whoever was searching here wasn't familiar with the rustbucket jen thought to herself as she pressed the button on the circular device causing a hologram of her grandpa max to appear.
"Jen if you're seeing this it means something came up l, don't worry I can handle it myself oh and the Omnitrix is safe with me" the hologram of her grandfather explained before shutting off.
"wait he has the Omnitrix?" Jen thought out loud sadly she didn't have much time to dwell on that thought as a large creature slammed her to the ground, it had yellow skin with black hands and feet and it had a purple squid-like head with an exposed brain and a single eye, instincts took over for Jen she rolled backwards and slammed down on her wrist only to realise that there was nothing there, Jen quickly thought up a backup plan she grabbed the nearby fire extinguisher and sprayed it at the approaching alien and while it was blinded she hit it over the head with all of her strength, while the adrenaline was still high Jen bolted out of the rustbucket and ran as fast as she could.
Once Jen made it back home she dug through her old boxes before finding what she was looking for a black and grey watch with a green hourglass symbol on the dial, "what are you doing Grandpa" Jen sighed as she tried to find a reason her grandpa would say he had the Omnitrix when it was clearly still with her, her deep thought was interrupted by her mother barging into her room causing Jen to quickly hide the Omnitrix behind her back at an attempt to not look suspicious.
"oh Jennifer dear, did I mention your cousin Gwen's in town today" Sandra said with a smile.
"what really, I thought she was stationed in the east blue?" Jen thought of her cousin Gwen who had gone off and joined the Marines not too long ago, Jen didn't blame her getting off the island and seeing the world sounded pretty good but Jen could never deal with authority figures.
"I spoke to her a little while ago she said her captain had decided to chase after a band of pirates that slipped their grasp, I do hope a gang of ruffians like that aren't here this island has been pretty lucky with how few pirates come here, you should go see her while she's here" Jen's mom laughed as she went back to the kitchen.
Jen had made her way to the port where Gwen's ship was docked Gwen was currently talking to another marine a young woman with short black hair and glasses, once Gwen noticed Jen approaching she waved and ran over giving her a big hug "Jen it's so good to see you it feels like forever since I was last home" Gwen laughed.
"Glad to see you too, how's marine life treating you?" Jen asked.
"oh it's been good, the past couple of weeks have been really busy, I probably shouldn't be telling you but where on the tail of a pirate crew the captain's worth 30,000,000 Beri" Gwen whispered.
"woah seriously, Gwen I need some advice on something" Jen asked as she played the hologram for Gwen while holding up the Omnitrix.
"I don't understand why he says he has the watch you do, but if he says he's got it covered then I would trust him" Gwen pondered "If you want to put it on again it's your choice, you're allowed to live a normal life you don't need to play the hero".
"TENNYSON STOP CHATTING WITH THE LOCALS AND GET AFTER THE STARHATS!" A large man with grey hair yelled over at Gwen as he pointed at a group of people running into town.
"aye sir, sorry Jen I'll catch up later" Gwen said as she gave chase to the pirates.
With Gwen gone Jen took a deep breath as she fastened the Omnitrix to her wrist and began walking back to the rust bucket she thought if there was any clue to where her Grandpa went it would be there, on her way back through the town Jen turned a corner and bumped into someone causing both of them to fall down, "ow, sorry I wasn't paying attention to where I was going" Jen laughed as she got to her feet and began helping the other person up that she could now see was a girl with long blue hair.
"it's fine it was just as much my fault" The girl smiled as she looked over her shoulder, just then a marine came running by the girl had a panicked look on her face, Jen immediately pulled her into a nearby alley and hid her behind some crates waiting till the marine had moved on to tell her the coast was clear.
"so I assume you're one of those pirates that was rumoured to be in town" Jen chuckled her hand lightly grazing the Omnitrix.
"...well yes sort of" the blue-haired girl sighed seeing Jen raise her eyebrow at this she could tell she was in a difficult situation "In truth, the straw hats are helping me save my country".
"so what you're some kind of princess" Jen laughed not fully buying her story.
"yes I am Princess Vivi Nefitari of Alabasta, please don't turn me into the Marines my country needs me" Vivi pleaded she was so close to making it home she couldn't fail now.
"I don't know why but I believe you, I'll not report you to the Marines you're safe," Jen said trusting her gut feeling to trust this woman, "if you'd like you could hang with me till you find your crew again, it's not a big island they'll turn up somewhere".
"thank you" Vivi smiled as she began walking with Jen.
Jen had brought Vivi to Grandpa Max's houseboat they were currently looking through different drawers for something, anything to point Jen in the right direction "So what exactly are we looking for?" Vivi asked as she opened a drawer.
"just anything that could tell us what my Grandpa was doing before he disappeared" Jen replied as she searched the kitchen cabinets, suddenly with a crash a man jumped through the window and landed on the floor in front of Jen what stood out the most about him was his straw hat on his head.
"hey Vivi I finally found you, Karoo and I have been looking everywhere for you" the strange man laughed "Who's your friend?" He asked as he pointed to Jen, she was visibly a little annoyed at this guy but it looked like Vivi knew him so she tried to stay calm.
"oh Luffy this is Jen she helped me escape from some marines, I'm helping her find out what her grandpa was doing before he went missing" Vivi smiled as Karoo the large duck came in through the door.
"oh cool, can I help" Luffy asked chuckling as he opened a couple of cupboards and looked inside.
"Shouldn't you guys get off this island as fast as possible, the marines seem pretty hot on your tail?" Jen asked not wanting to be the reason these guys got captured they seemed nice enough for pirates.
"no way you helped us it's only fair we help you, the crew won't mind if we stay a bit longer" Luffy laughed, looking through some drawers.
"hey Jen what's this about?" Vivi asked while holding up a file, Jen quickly read through its contents smiling the more she read.
"This is perfect it's a file on some kind of arms deal Grandpa Max was tracking, it's happening tonight going there is my best lead," Jen said as she memorised some of the more important details of the document like the location "it's happening at the old shipyard".
"awesome we'll meet you there tonight" Luffy smiled as he a Vivi left while waving to Jen, Jen had a soft smile on her face she was truly thankful she had a lead now.
That night at the old shipyard Jen was waiting on a nearby hill behind some bushes watching the two groups pull up, Jen nearly let out a yelp as a hand touched her shoulder, looking back Luffy and Vivi had arrived and they were joined by 4 other people and what looked like some weird dear creature.
"yo, we're here" Luffy snickered, the collection of characters behind him all seemed to be looking down at the beginnings of the arms deal.
Jen looked back down at the arms deal realising exactly who the tall dark-haired broker of the deal was "Kevin Levin, how is he here?" Jen said as she glared at her childhood nemesis.
"you know him?" The green-haired man carrying three swords on his hip asked.
"yeah he's bad news he's been a pain in my side since we were kids" Jen replied, looking down at the arms deal a group of men in trench coats had just unloaded several boxes and Kevin had pulled out an advanced-looking weapon from it and had begun demonstrating by firing lasers straight through the abandoned ships, the other side looked pleased with the results and began the handover.
Vivi spotted one of the men had a tattoo on his arm "It's baroque works we can't let them bring weapons like that into Alabasta" Hearing this Luffy and the rest of his crew jump into action causing the men in trench coats to remove a mask they were wearing revealing they were the aliens that Jen encountered earlier they began spitting green goo towards the straw hats.
"ew what the hell are those," said the orange-haired girl disgusted.
"best guess probably aliens" Jen said jumping into the action and dodging the goo flying around "alright it's hero time" Jen yelled as she slammed down on the Omnitrix but got no response, Jen had to start dodging more goo blasts as she fiddled with her watch.
"what the hell are you doing, can't you fight" the swordsman yelled as he and the finely dressed man dispatched the baroque works agents.
"Usually yes, but my Watch this on the Fritz" Jen yelled back to the confusion of all the straw hats, as Jen dodged another attack by one of the aliens suddenly the Omnitrix's face plate turned blue as Jen fiddled with the dial the whole watch flashed green as it changed shape into a sleeker green and black design, "it never did that before," Jen said as she began selecting an alien "I don't recognise half of these, though under the circumstances this one looks pretty good" she smiled before slamming down on the dial and in a bright green flash she was transformed into a tall rocky alien with crystal-like spikes and one eye "Chromastone" she yelled as she transformed.
"woah what kind of devil fruit does she have" a man with a very long nose asked.
"least of our concerns right now" the orange-haired girl yelled as she hit one of the aliens with her staff.
Jen immediately jumped into action throwing one of the aliens into another before sending a bolt of energy at the remaining few causing them to scramble away into the night, she then turned her attention towards the baroque works members Jen fired a couple of energy blasts at a group of them sending them flying, another group came up behind her and began firing their weapons as fast as they could "that tickles" Jen laughed as she turned around and fired an energy blast.
With that, the dust had settled the straw hats and Jen gathered up all the weapons at Vivi's suggestion he fired off a large energy blast destroying them all so they couldn't be used by anyone, as Jen was admiring her handy work she was hit with a gut punch that sent her flying into one of the old buildings looking up her attacker was Kevin Levin his arm like it was coated in rock "heh you thought I'd just take this lying down, I've got a score to settle with you Tennyson" he said as he approached her absorbing the concrete of the walls of the building on the way coating his entire body.
"What happened to you was your own fault" Jen sneered as she got back to her feet, she fired off an energy blast but it did little more than crack Kevin's armour, he hit her with a side punch making her lose balance he then followed up with an uppercut causing Jen to stagger backwards, Jen quickly regained her composure and hit Kevin with a knee to the gut followed by side punch to the head breaking the armour in those areas "I'm not scared of you Kevin," she said as she blocked one of his attacks.
"hey!, big rocky girl the marines are coming we gotta go" the orange-haired girl yelled impatiently, hearing this Kevin swore under his breath as he fled the scene, just missing Jen detransform in a flash of red light "What are you waiting for we're leaving now!" The orange-haired lady yelled as she grabbed Jen by the arm and began running towards a small ship with a lamp figurehead as soon as they stepped foot on the boat the crew set sail leaving Jen's home behind.
"Jen the way you were all like pow pow over there was so cool!" Luffy cheered making fighting poses "wanna join my crew, I'm gonna be king of the pirates".
"I guess I might as well I'm already on the ship" Jen laughed she was finally going to see the world just like she always dreamed, she felt like this was going to be one hell of an adventure, she also thought she should probably call her mom and tell her she joined a pirate crew.
