Battlestar Galactica 2003 and Stargate crossover

Kobol was not a normal planet, it was a colony of the Alterans who decided to give up technology. But their descendants don't know that as their origins were lost to the ravages of time and started making the same mistakes. Now we have the 12 colonies and the war to come, but will those who ascended from Kobol want their descendants to be reduced to little more than 50.000 refugees, this is where they change the story and break the cycle in ways no one ever knew possible…..

Prologue

It all started with the lynch pin of there plan and that was Leonidas Kosta a smart but adaptable individual who by a quirk of fate is almost fully Alteran at least genetically speaking. Leonidas himself prefers to be called Leo especially after the films 300 brought more attention to his namesake and his friends never let him forget it. Leo is 35 years old and a Major in the US Air Force R and D department and helps develop next gen fighters and weapon systems. What makes him different from every other egghead is that he flies the planes himself and he loves every minute of it which baffles the minds of some as to how he managed to get PHDs in physics and mechanics.

Today was a big day for Leo and his team as they were testing out a new fighter with a new largely improved engine that if it worked would allow them to leave the atmosphere if only for a short while but still it's a step forward. In the cockpit Leo looked at his gauges and everything was going well and he was ready to engage the new engine.

"Homebase, this is Saber One ready to start test burn 1, please advise" Leo communicated over the radio.

"Saber One, this is Homebase you have go for test burn" they replied.

So Leo flipped the start switch and felt a massive kick as the engines started their burn and he left the atmosphere, checking his gauges he noticed a spike in heat but that was expected from the more powerful engines. Then a warning light started flashing and as he reacted to that, more and more were starting to flash red and warning noises were blaring from several critical failures.

"Homebase this is Saber One I have warning lights from multiple systems, please advise." Leo tried not to panic as he was worried he would be stuck in space with no way home as he doesn't have enough air to wait on any slim chance of rescue that NASA could set up.

"Saber One, we have confirmed recovery is untenable, you have permission to ditch after re-entry over the nearest body of water. Please confirm" replied the operator

On confirmation he put the fighter into a dive and tried to turn off the new engine but it just wouldn't respond, he started to get worried as the heat gauge was starting to rise fast with both the out of control engine and re-entering the atmosphere. As the heat reached a certain point he knew he wasn't going to make it and to avoid any chance of causing casualties below he decided to leave atmosphere while he still had some control and then messaged homebase with a goodbye and pointed the fighter into space and piloted it away from the atmosphere before the fighter exploded in a massive ball of fire.

Leo woke up in a 60's style diner in confusion, he looked around at the people who were eating and reading newspapers until someone sat opposite him.

"Hello Leo, I'm Athena one of your ancestors from many thousands of years ago, and your here because we need something from you" Athena commented

"Huh" Leo replied in confusion "Where am I?, didn't I die?"

"You're in another dimension or plane of existence and yes you would have died if we didn't interfere and bring you here just before the fighter exploded which was only possible because of how pure your Alteran genes are." Athena replied "Ok I guess from that look you need some more information before we start"

Several hours passed as Athena told Leo all about how the Alterans were a race of beings who appeared the same as humans and came from a galaxy far away from the Avalon galaxy which is what they called the Milky Way. She explained that they fled the galaxy after a plague sent by their enemies the Ori nearly wiped them out and how they left Avalon for the Pegasus galaxy with there city sized ship Atlantis to start over after wiping out and restarting the evolution of all life in the Avalon galaxy to kill off the plague. She then mentioned that over the centuries they planted life in the Pegasus galaxy then decided that they would return to earth and live out a simple life. But here is where she explained that another group went to the Andromeda galaxy and created a colony on a planet they called Kobol and abandoned all technology and buried their stargate under their main settlements centre building to live a life of peace and to progress towards ascension.

At that point Leo was processing all the information and then came to stop and interrupted her " you mean the Battlestar Galactica series is real, is this a joke" he said while looking around for some cameras or some kind of recording device.

Athena looked at him in silence and then closed her eyes for a moment while rubbing the bridge of her nose and then opened them replying "Actually yes that series is something my brother Aries planted into the mind of the writer to see what kind of reception your people would have and he was a bit disappointed but then what can he expect when the majority of your planet thinks its still the centre of the universe and believe angels are real."

Leo could tell he wasn't getting everything but then he already had more than enough to think about anyway. At this point a hostess walked up and offered him coffee and Athena thanked her "Thanks Oma"

Athena then continued "So you get most of what follows right without me having to explain it all to you right". At which Leo nodded and Athena smiled and sent a silent thanks to Aries for doing something constructive for a change. "so you ready to hear what we want you to do"

Leo looked at her for a while and then nodded while saying "I'm willing to at least listen to what you want of me but i wont say yes until I get all the info"

She looked at him with a glint in her eye for his wise decision and vindicated their decision in choosing him. "Well here's what we want you to do, we want to place your mind into the body of someone born 8 years before the end of the first Cylon war to a family who has lost all the male heirs and controls one of the biggest and most powerful businesses in the Colonies and we want you to grow up and build connections to give you the ability to start your own colony away from the twelve and keep it secret and away from what is to happen so that not everyone is killed in the eventual attack." she looked up at Leo "I know you wanna ask why we just don't stop it but one of our major rules is not to interfere in lower planes but some of us have got together and have made an agreement with the council to allow us this little change to save some of our descendants and your the key"

Leo nodded "I understand not wanting to change the timeline but aren't you already doing it by putting me there?"

Athena looked at him "You may be right but at the end of the day we don't want to lose the majority of our descendants so here's what they agreed, you will be allowed to be sent back with enough time and power to make the changes, you will be given some info for tech to give you enough of an advantage to defend yourself and to save more when the attack does happen as we can't allow you to stop it or change the majority of the outcomes. Also you will be allowed to make contact with the survivors from the attack including Adama's fleet and take them to your new home world but we want you to start a new government system away from the twelve colony system as we dont want our surviving descendants to be so fractured. Lastly, the system we will inform you of will be far enough to avoid the Cylons and Colonial detection and with enough resources to last several hundred years easily. Also it will have all the necessary resources to build Alteran tech or at least the tech we will allow you to have without having to develop it yourself"

Leo was surprised as to how much they were giving him and noticed the veiled hint about developing more tech than what they were giving him but then remembered how hard it's going to be. "Ok what type of company will I be inheriting? As if I'm to do this I need to have some portable shipyards ready built and be able to buy up old warships to refurbish without the Colonials and government asking too many questions. Also what tech are we talking about as to even stand a chance against the type of firepower the cylons have i will need shield tech and probably basic plasma weaponry or next level up given how many ships the Cylons would probably have to be able to do what they did in one wave as the tv series never did go into detail about how many ships the Cylons actually had, As they just kept coming until it got boring and they changed up the story to be more soap opera, well history or future now that i know what i know. Plus I will need better energy tech to power the weapons. I think that's the majority of what I would need as with that and the standard armour and fighters the Colonials already have, it would give me a fighting chance to do what you want me to."

Leo thought for a moment then hesitated to ask "Will I live longer as well as to do what you want me to being a 40-50 year old and then have to fight and build a whole new way of life after the attack I can't afford to be suffering from old age and still have the energy and drive to do what you want?"

Athena looked at him with a wide smile "So I take it you've made your decision then and yes we will give you the same level of Alteran genes you had when on earth and activate the genes that increase your longevity plus give you the formulas needed for a gene therapy that will overnight optimize your genes to extend your life in three stages, stage 1 will increase lifespan to 200 years, stage 2 increase to 300 and the final stage will ultimately increase your lifespan to 500 years but that is without using technology such as nanites and the like to artificially extend your life. We also agreed to allow you to extend the general lifespan of the rest of the population to make it plausible with the rest of them but what stages you make public and what you keep for close friends and allies will be up to you. Also I might make it slightly easier for you by making you a distant relation to Adama and Admiral Nagala so that you can play on the relation to get more from the military and make it easier to get the survivors to follow you to the new colony. Lastly we will give you a basic hyperdrive to extend the distance beyond what the cylons can jump and speed up your travel between the 12 Colonies and your new colony but we won't give you hyperdrive that will allow you to travel to different galaxies as that will be down to you to figure out"

He thought for a minute then replied "Fine I will do it just don't expect perfection as that's not what you'll get as i will be adding some of my own ideas in as that's what free will is the right to choose" he smiled at that and Athena smiled back and nodded when the hostess Oma came back up with a pie on a plate with a fork.

Athena then looked like she remembered something "Yeh just one more thing if it looks like what you're about to do will interfere with the main timeline you will get a weird feeling, something similar to vertigo to warn you not to continue so heed those warnings because the council does not mess around when you don't listen to there warnings the first time" Athena warned "Goodluck and try to have some fun as well"

"Here darling, a treat for the road," Oma said, putting the plate in front of him. He took a bite and then blacked out.
