I have been in Dauntless for 3 days now, I'm starting to slowly learn my way around Dauntless but it's hard to remember which way I'm supposed to turn. Eric wasn't lying when he said it'd be easy to get lost. On my very first day, I managed to forget which floor I was even staying on. On the second day, I spent a good half an hour riding the elevator up and down too nervous to say anything before finally Max stepped in and he was able to guide me to their offices. I tried my hardest to look for those so called maps which were scattered sparsely around the faction, so far I haven't crossed a single one. Apart from my first day, today was the only day I've been assigned someone to escort me around. Most of the leaders have been busy with the new initiates. Apparently everyone else had been busy around the faction or outside the walls, doing their patrols or doing whatever other jobs that needed doing. It was only when it came towards the afternoon that Dauntless became more alive, everyone finishing their jobs or shift changes, members wanting to blow off steam in the pit or drinking in the mess hall which kind of doubled as a bar after the cooks finished the dinner rush.

Every day has been roughly the same, go to the office and get feedback from Max about the patrols and surveillance. I'd been to the control room and there are literally cameras everywhere, the girl sitting behind the desk had showed me where the factionless usually congregate and where they were mostly causing issues. There was not much to report on but I was going through Jeanine's checklist and then each night I would go back to my room and type everything up and email her everything, it was boring work but for me it was safe and that's all I ever wanted. Eric had been a no show each day, he said and I quote "I don't have time nor the patience to be your babysitter". Either way, it wasn't an issue but I have a feeling that day he stormed out of Jeanine's office she had told him that he was to watch me and that obviously got under his skin. Either way, I was happy with my company today. Christina asked me to join her and a few others for lunch in the mess hall, we were joined by Kyle and Peter.

"So I heard you're Jeanine's spy now? How do you go from initiate, to assistant, to spy? " Peter asks me as he sits across from me with Kyle by his side and Christina next to me.

Christina forcefully kicks Peter under the table as he reaches down to rub where she'd kicked him causing me to laugh.

"I'm just curious, you've only been there like what three months and you are already moving up in the ranks?"

"I wouldn't exactly call working as Jeanine's assistant 'moving up in the ranks', have you even met her? She's horrifying."

I watch with amusement as Christina and Peter go back and forth as I pick at the questionable looking chips on my tray, they aren't horrible tasting but they don't look very appealing either. I've come to learn that Dauntless love their protein, carbs and the occasional dessert.

"Honestly, I don't really do much. I'm not the only one in the office and I mainly just file her paperwork, book appointments, reply to emails and messages. It's actually quite boring." I shrug and this seems to be unsatisfactory for Peter because he digs at me again.

"Come on, there's got to be more than that? Any deep dark secrets? We won't tell anyone."

Kyle steps in to save me by this point, having had enough of Peter "Don't you mean, we-" he gestures to himself and Christina, "-won't tell anyone? You will run your mouth to the next person you see and leave the poor girl alone, she's just doing her job. Like you should be doing. Aren't you supposed to be on bathroom duty?".

Christina nudges my side, bringing my attention back to her and gives me her best apologetic smile "Don't listen to him, Peter's just an asshole."

"I'm starting to see that".

"Hey!" Peter yells out, sounding slightly offended while Kyle barks out a loud laugh which in turn makes me laugh along with him.

I haven't known these people for very long but I'm starting to like them more and more as time goes on. I learnt that Christina has a bit of a sense of humour, she's a little outspoken at times and it slightly reminds me of Angel back in Erudite. Kyle is huge, not in a masculine sort of way. He does have muscle but he seems funny and a little bit lanky. With scruffy curly hair to boot. While Peter is a bit arrogant and he seems like his attitude would be a little much if spending copious amounts of time with him.

As I sit there I could feel eyes on me as everyone continues back to their food while Kyle and Peter argue back and forth why it is and isn't okay to pay off initiates to do one's own work. I look up to what kind of resembles a gantry to see Eric leaning forward with his hands on the railing as he looks down, surveying the room or in fact surveying me. He locks eyes with me but I don't look away and neither does he, I keep staring back as I notice his eyebrows shift together on his forehead in a frown.

"Allie..." The whole room grows silent as a deep but familiar voice says my name, everyone at the table I'm sitting at is staring at me and I break away from my staring competition with Eric to come face to face with my brother. I knew it was only a matter of time before he'd come find me. I chance a quick glance back to where Eric was but he was no longer there.

I get up slowly from my seat, dreading this reunion. It's not that I don't want to see him because I have wanted to see him for the past six years, but I'm annoyed and still hurt. I knew he had to leave, our father hurt him the same way he hurt me after he left. I'm annoyed that he never told me he was leaving, there was nothing from him after his aptitude test. He helped me when I was younger, taking the brunt of our father's anger, then that anger turned to me the moment he was gone. Apparently, according to Marcus, it was my fault Tobias left. He couldn't protect me any more. He didn't want to be factionless, like I'd suggested we run away and join them on multiple occasions. He saw a way out and took it. Leaving me to fend for myself, it might sound selfish but I hate him for having his own selfish reasons for leaving. It was clear then that neither of us were meant for Abnegation. Now I stand before him, in the middle of the crowded and silent mess hall. All eyes trained on us, tucked far beneath the ground in Dauntless and there's no where for me to run.

"Allie, what are you doing here?" He spits out after a few moments of silence, "You shouldn't be here!".

"Nice to see you too Toby!" I stand rigid, trying to look anywhere but at his face. I hear a few people mimicking my nickname for him, surprise evident in their whispers.

He visibly tenses at my words, "It's Four now! You need to leave."

He reaches for my wrist but I pull back, taking a step back. He looks hurt by this, his spine straightens as he stands tall. Almost defiant. He steps forward once again, whispering quietly. "I'm serious Allie, you need to leave. It's not safe for you here."

"And Abnegation was?" My voice sounds shaken, bitter even. "You had no problem with me being there but you have a problem with me being here?".

I can see the anger building behind his eyes as he stares me down, completely oblivious to the ever growing crowd forming around us in the room.

He reaches for my wrist again and faster than before that I don't have the time to react, "Let me go Toby... Four, whatever the hell you call yourself now."

He shakes his head but doesn't let go, he tightens his hold on my wrist. Not enough for it to hurt, but enough for the feeling of being trapped overwhelms me. I react before my brain can even comprehend, my flight or fight response kicking in as I hit him square in the jaw. Not slap or back hand him, I punch him hard enough that he rears back and there's a faint imprint of a couple of my knuckles on his jaw. I ignore the pain in my hand and the gasps of the people around us, I stare at him shocked over what I've just done. I didn't mean to actually hit him, but his hand on my wrist was oddly too familiar. His stare is equally as shocked, I see Max approaching behind my brother and I feel a hand grasp my elbow.

"Four.. do we have a problem here?" Eric's voice breaks through the pounding in my ears from beside me, his hand leaves my elbow as he steps around me to stand in front, his shoulders squared with his arms crossed over his chest. I watch as Max puts his hand on Four's shoulder but he shrugs it off and pushes through the crowd to storm off in the other direction. I watch as Eric juts out his jaw towards Max and Max nods in a silent conversation only they understand, Max turns and takes off after my brother before Eric yells to our spectators. "Lunch time is over. Everyone back to work."

Eric's voice as it echoes around the room makes everyone move frantically as it suddenly becomes alive again as people get up and the chatter picks up again around me, I'm suddenly aware of the dull ache in my fist but it doesn't hurt that much. "Come with me" Eric doesn't go to reach for me but just waits for me to acknowledge what he's asked, still unable to speak, I nod and follow him from the big hall.

"This is stupid!" I cross my arms over my chest scowling at Eric. The sight must look funny to him because he's smirking at me with his arms crossed over his chest as well, like he's mocking me.

"Just stop pouting and hit the damn thing!" He demands and moves to stand behind the bag, holding it in place. "Any day now stiff."

I narrow my eyes at his nickname and I tap the bag with my fist, the bag or him don't even flinch.

He looks at me with a bored expression, "That was pathetic. Again!"

After we had vacated the mess hall and I'd had time to calm down, Eric insisted I follow him here to where the initiates train. At the moment the room was currently deserted, I never questioned where the initiates were but I was glad they were nowhere near here at the moment to witness this. He suggested we come here and that hitting a punching bag was going to help me get out some pent up aggression which I was obviously still holding. He'd ditched his vest leaving him in his black pants and a fitted black shirt, I'd kicked off my shoes by his vest and took off my blouse. Leaving me in my signature navy blue pencil skirt and a white tank top, I don't know what I'd thought we'd be doing but this was not even in the top five.

I punch the bag again with a little more force than before, I look to Eric and he only nods for me to keep going so I do. I punch again but I stumble back a little at the force of my punch, he immediately notices.

Before I can punch again he immediately stops me, "Stop, stop.. you need to adjust your footing. You don't need to be strong to be able to hit something hard enough, or someone."

He let's go of the bag and sidles up behind me and twists my body into position, I try hold back the flush that spreads across my face when his hands grasp my hips angling them correctly before he kicks my feet apart to the right width and I'm suddenly aware of how close he is standing when I can smell his aftershave. Especially when his hands find my shoulders, angling them. "Now hold up your hands like you're about to punch", I do as he says as his hands grasp both my biceps to move my arms into position, his chest now up against my back. He lingers there for a moment like he's inspecting me, I don't move till he comes back around to the bag. "Again!".

I swing my fist in my new stance and the bag actually moves this time, I smile in delight but he just shrugs.

"I've seen better, but you're on the right track."

I gape at him, more determined as ever as I punch the bag again even harder. He shrugs again and this only further irritates me. I shake out my limbs and regain my balance before I take another swing but this time, I don't aim for the bag. I aim for him. I didn't really plan on hitting him or at least not hard and I was mainly aiming for his shoulder, but he's quick. He grabs my fist before it connects and pushes it back which in turn, pushes me back which takes me completely by surprise.

His lips are pressed into a fine line, for a minute I think he's angry that I dare try and lay a finger on him. He strides around from the bag and comes to stand right in front of me and I instantly back up, but I resume my stance that he showed me. "This is how you wanna do this? Fine, give it your best shot stiff". He gets into position before me, with his hands up and I instantly regret my decision. He stands tall, back straight, his arms up in front of him, his muscles taut underneath the stiff fabric of his shirt. I know I won't win but he goads me even further when I hesitate, "I don't have all day stiff".

With that I swing my fist and he easily blocks it, he's faster than I imagine and I'm slow and untrained. He's smirking now and I realise, he's enjoying this so I swing again. He pivots and knocks my arm to the side which nearly makes me fall over, I regain my footing and try again. We go back and forth for a few more minutes, him dodging my fist easily. He doesn't hit back, only taps me a few times to get my attention, baiting me to keep going and I do. What happened in the mess hall was long forgotten as he continues circling around me as I swing punch after punch. I'm sure my technique is way off but he doesn't say anything, he just continues around me and when I think I have him, I don't. He taps me where he would have hit me because I was too busy focusing on his face, rather than blocking.

I wait till Eric is momentarily distracted when something beeps from inside his pocket, I realise it's his phone. I manage to get the upper hand as I trip one of his legs out from under him and he falls to the ground, I was playing dirty but I don't care. I only get a mere two seconds to celebrate my victory as he stealthily twists his legs and captures my ankle in between both of his and I go tumbling down right beside him. I can't help but laugh as I lay on the ground next to him and he just gives me a pointed look. "Better?".

I look next to me at him and nod my head, a little out of breath while he just lay there looking at me quizzically. "Better!".

We lay there for a few more seconds while I try and catch my breath, I realise it's for my benefit rather than his because he doesn't seem at all affected by our sparring session.

We are broken from our silence when the room becomes alive as initiates start filling the room along with Lauren, who is currently in charge of training the Dauntless born initiates. Eric's up on his feet in a matter of seconds, not wanting to be seen on the floor with me. I'm taken aback when he holds out his hand and I take it, it feels rough in my smaller hand and firm as he pulls me up to my feet with ease. We don't say anything as I walk over to my shoes, slipping them back onto my feet while he pulls his vest back on.

I catch the light glinting off of his piercing above his eyebrow and I'm suddenly curious, "Did that hurt?" He looks at me a little confused by my question. I point to my eyebrow, "The piercing, did it hurt?".

"Why? Are you planning on redecorating?" I shake my head instantly, I definitely do not. "No" is his only response.

"What about the tattoo's? Did they?" I try to imagine him sitting there while someone dragged a needle over his skin, permanently leaving the black ink in its wake with him completely unbothered by it and I have a feeling I know what his answer will be.

He shakes his head as I pull my shirt back on, buttoning it up. "Eric!" Kyle's voice breaks out over the sound of all the initiates and both Eric and I look to him as he walks over, "You're needed in control, something about an incident in section six".

And just like that Eric nods and our moment is gone, he's out the door without even a cursory glance in my direction. Kyle stops by me and smiles from ear to ear, I smile back the best I can. Something about him seems a bit odd but I try to just place it as him being overly friendly.

I spent the rest of my day with Max in his office, going over what happened when Eric was called away. Apparently a group of unknown factionless men set ablaze a car from Erudite just inside the city limits, causing a few panicked citizens that lived close by. He claimed that no one was injured but patrols were being amped up and it was Eric's job to organise the teams that would be going to search the area for those men. I must have been oblivious to all this happening because according to Max, this sort of violence had been going on for some time and it was getting worse as they were starting to become more brazen with their acts.

After what felt like hours and I'd come back to my room, sent off a few emails then there was a knock at my door. Christina had arrived with dinner and another girl with short mousy blond hair who I was yet to meet named Tris, which I had just learnt was my brother's girlfriend for the last two years. They had gotten together during her initiation into the faction and according to Christina, their bond was inseparable. I remember her a little from Abnegation, I mostly remember her parents though. They were on the council with my father and wherever he went, I had to follow.

Now I was seated at the dinner table with the two girls, grateful for the burger that Christina had picked up. She had said she'd figure I didn't want another repeat of what happened in the mess hall today and hopefully by tomorrow, everyone would stop talking about it. I doubted that very much.

"Is everyone still talking about it?" I say just before I take a giant bite of my burger. It tastes heavenly after the day I've had.

Christina nods while she chews hers down, Tris has been mostly quiet and I wonder if she only tagged along so she could meet her boyfriend's sister. "Oh yeah, it was the highlight of everyone's day. Seeing Four get punched." That earns her a glare from Tris. "Sorry Tris."

"He is sorry," Tris finally speaks up as she picks out a bit of lettuce, eating it slowly. "He said he shouldn't have grabbed you like that and in front of everyone."

The look of concern over her words gives me the impression that she knows a little too much about me and my brothers past.

"If it helps, I felt really guilty about it. Eric took me to the training room to I guess, blow off some steam. It was actually kind of fun."

"What!?" Both Tris and Christina speak at the same time, staring at me with wide eyes.

"Why is that shocking?" I stare at the both of them.

"Maybe because no one has ever put fun and Eric in the same sentence, I don't know if you've noticed but he's a kind of an ass. Him and Tris hated each other when she was an initiate, actually.. I think they still do."

"I think we just tolerate each other now because we have to work together. He doesn't talk to me and I don't talk to him", Tris explains for Christina.

"I have to ask... why do they call my brother Four? It sounds stupid." I finish off the rest of my burger before the girls even have gotten half way through theirs.

"It's kind of a long story," Tris very reluctantly answers while Christina kind of just laughs.

There's a moment of silence, but it's not awkward, while they finish off their food. Once they're done I clean up the table, throwing away the empty food boxes before we all settle down on my couch. It felt nice to have them here and I imagine in another life if I had chosen Dauntless instead of Erudite that we would have been friends from the beginning. That is until Christina blurts out that Kyle has a little crush on me, that would explain his earlier behaviour and his goofy smile when he saw me.

"He does?" I grimace but I don't mean to, he's nice and all but I'm in no way in a position to like anyone like that and without sounding shallow, he's not really someone I'd typically want to date. Not that I've really ever dated anyone before.

"He talks about you all the time, the other day he was talking about how soft and straight your hair looked." Christina smiles from ear to ear ignoring the look on mine and Tris' face.

"Isn't that a little creepy?" Tris steals the words straight from my mouth.

Christina just ignores her and smiles at me, "He's harmless. You should date him."

"He's not really my type and besides, he's in Dauntless. I'm in Erudite. It would never work." She just shrugs at me and I can't help but shake my head.

"I have an idea, maybe you should date him?" Tris elbows her friend, her words making Christina gag.

"No way, he's creepy... oh wait," I lock eyes with Tris and we both start laughing before Christina starts laughing too, I have a sudden realisation in that moment that I never want to return to Erudite.

Before the girls left and while Christina used my bathroom, Tris pulled me aside while we were waiting and asked if I could try and talk to Four. She didn't ask me to forgive him, just to talk to him at least while I was here. I didn't make any promises but I said I would try and that seemed to be good enough and it would have to be. She surprised me by giving me a kind of awkward one armed hug and I took it in stride and once Christina finally emerged, they said their goodbyes and I got ready for bed. No soon as I lay down and get ready for sleep in the oversized bed, there was a knock at my door. I let out a groan, not wanting to get out of the warmth from my comforter and told whoever was there to go away. There was a moment of silence and I thought they had gone away, then there was a knock again. This time much more demanding.

I reluctantly get up, my bare feet padding across the hardwood flooring over to the door. "What?" I ask grumpily before I realise who is there, before me is Eric looking slightly annoyed by my tone. I didn't mean for it to come off as rude but I was about to go to sleep. "Eric, what are you doing here?".

It takes him a moment to respond, he's looking at me like he's sizing me up, his eyes darting from my brown eyes down to my bare collar bone. I was still in my pyjama pants and starkly white tank top, I suddenly feel nervous and that's when I notice what's in his hands. It's dark clothes and a pair of even darker Dauntless looking boots. Before I can question them, he shoves them into my arms. "Put those on, meet me in the hallway in ten minutes. I took the liberty of guessing your size. You won't have a problem with them fitting."

"What? Where are we going?" I stare at him baffled by what he's just asked me.

"Ten minutes, don't be late." With that he walks away from my door and I just let out a sigh as I look to the clothes and shoes in my hands.

"Charming as ever!" I say out loud, not caring if he can hear me or not as I close the door and head back in to my room to change, wondering what in the hell we are doing.

I start to get changed in to the clothes and surprisingly enough, they do fit. The jacket he's given me is a little big and I have to roll up my sleeves a little for it to fit properly, I take a moment to glance at myself in the mirror. I don't look like me, but I kind of do. I look like I'm ready to disappear into the night and fight alongside Dauntless in the starkly dark clothing and the shiny black boots. I don't get too long to think about it as I look to the clock on my bedside table, I'd already been ten minutes getting changed and from what I've heard, Eric doesn't seem to be too fond of tardiness. So I quickly throw my hair up into a ponytail, with my keycard for my room shoved into my Jacket pocket before leaving my room to find Eric standing there, his posture straight and rigid with his arms behind his back. He seems pleased with how I look by the way one side of his lips curls up into a smirk.

"Are you going to tell me what we're doing?" I follow in step next to him as we walk down the hall to the elevators.

"I guess you'll find out", is his vague answer as we step inside, he presses the button to go up to a floor I'm not familiar with.

"Can you at least tell me where we are going?" I look up to him, noticing he must have recently had a hair cut. The sides perfectly shaved down, almost to the roots and his hair perfecting parted slightly to the side and pushed back, the more I look at him, the more I start to notice that he's kind of good looking and this revelation hits me deep down when he looks down to me and we lock eyes.

"The train station. Enough questions, you'll find out once we get there." He shoots me a wink as we hit the floor and he walks me to where the train usually comes through here and the platform is crawling with initiates and there standing in front is my brother in the same clothes as both Eric and I, I have the sinking feeling he took the uniform from one of the trainers or leaders because the initiates are all dressed in their training gear.

Four stands there with his arms crossed and his eyes narrowed at Eric as we walk further into the group, the crowd around us are too hyped up with excitement to notice our arrival but it's clear Four notices but he doesn't say anything, still obviously wanting to give me some space. I have to give him credit for that.

"Eric, can you please tell me what we're doing now? Are you sure I should be here?".

He just shrugs, "Max said to bring you along and I thought maybe you'd like a chance to shoot your brother."

I can't help but smile at the thought as I chew idly on my bottom lip, I don't think he would openly let me shoot anyone with a real gun so my interest was piqued.

I grab his bicep now, making him look at me. It feels firm and solid under my fingers and I watch the way his eyes go from looking into mine, down to my hand on his arm. I feel like he's about to pull away but he doesn't, "What are we doing?".

His eyes light up but he doesn't quite smile although it looks like he wants to, "War games!". My eyes widen in surprise as I let go of his arm and stand with everyone by the tracks with him beside me and my brother on the other side. In the distance, I can hear the train approaching rather quickly and my breath gets stuck in my throat with anticipation on what's to come. I don't know what the War Games were but it sounded intriguing.

This is going to be interesting.

A/N - Well that concludes Chapter 2 and that was so fun to write but I can't wait for the next chapter, it's going to hopefully be such a fun read. For anyone who's wondering, my face claim for Allie is Nina Dobrev. I know she is over done in most fics but I just love her and in my head her and Jai Courtney would be kind of cute. Also I wanted to make a note that in case it wasn't clear, they chose their factions when they are 18 and both Eric and Four are 24 like the movies and not the books so she was 12 when Four went to Dauntless. I understand that it is a bit of an age difference between her and Eric but quite frankly, I do not care. If it's not your thing, I'm happy for you to stop reading if that's what you wish. Anyway, on to Chapter 3. It's going to be epic and Allie might just get to shoot Four, we'll see how it goes. And a special shout-out to my one follower of this story lol. You rock. Remember to review, follow, favourite and all that jazz. Also still looking for a Beta to help edit. Much love, SJ xo
