At the first glimpse of light, Rin called to Sesshomaru with her ocarina. She waited, shivering, by herself in the cold morning air. Kohaku stood on guard outside of their rooms just in case another form of trickery was against them.
The daiyoukai appeared shortly in the gardens. With each step he came closer, Rin felt the tears pouring out of her eyes. Sesshomaru's eyes widened at her sudden weeping and took a seat next to her, settling to a spot where his mokomoko was within reach. The girl plunged her face into the warm pelt, taking in its warm comfort. After a moment, or two, to collect herself, Rin faced her father and recounted their new information.
There were few times in her life when Rin had witnessed the wrath of a demon. Her first encounter with her father he snapped at her like a wild dog as he lay injured. No, this was different than survival instincts warding off foes. Sesshomaru was steadily growing pissed. As she explained the circumstances of Kagome's disappearance, his anger was not veiled in a layer of icy indifference and with each word they told him red crept into his sclera. Rin vaguely thought to herself, how would Kagome feel if she knew he reacted so to her injustice?
"Where is she now?" Sesshomaru snarled, sharp fangs poking dangerously over his lips. His collected demeanor melted to pure, demonic rage with each piece of information they delivered. There would be no more waiting, they had to take action and fast.
"Aoi-hime is going to send a guide to take us to the cave. There we should be able to find Kagome-sama," Rin answered. "Any minute now."
A staccato set of knocks later indicated it was time for them to set out. Rin watched as Sesshomaru disappeared from the gardens. Shutting the door, she slipped out of her yukata and into her miko garb. It was a strange sensation pulling the fabric together, she had never worn the full dress before. At the beginning of her training, she had refused to wear it. She didn't want to wear it until she earned the right to call herself a miko. Today was that day, Rin decided. If not a miko in spiritual power, but one of her inner strength. Even so, her nervous fingers absentmindedly messed with the hem of the white haori as she joined Kohaku's side.
"Are you ready?" The slayer asked, a look of concern flitting his features. Fastening a dagger against her bicep, Rin flashed him a diffusing smile which he returned.
"Yes," Rin declared with determination. "Let's go get Kagome-sama!"
